Regarding Cricket competition Wikipedia
Hi Team,
Some Mad person is updating the ICC 2020-2023 World cup super league points Table to Wrong Data. Actually South africa already awarded their 30 points to Australia and Same time Australia has awarded 30 points to Afghanistan. There is couple of more series canceled, so the points Table should be updated according to that. I had authority and updated it but some mad person threatened me to not to updated instead his updating is erroreneous one

- Hello. Extras in Hollywood films are, by definition, uncredited and paid very little for the privilege of a few moments onscreen. Accordingly, there is rarely any way to establish that a specific person was an extra in a specific film. See Extra (acting) for details. Ensemble (musical theatre) describes a similar concept, although these performers get a little bit more respect. They have to show up day after day, not just once. How to write on new person or Organization
How to write about new person or organization that is not available on Wiki till date DigitalizedApex (talk) 13:09, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
- The answer to this is don't, particularly if you have a conflict of interest while doing this. If you would like to create a draft article to be reviewed by other users that is fine, but it should meet the guidelines for notability.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 13:16, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
- @DigitalizedApex: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia: It is not a venue for press releases or for any "embargoed" information: see WP:NOT. If a subject is notable by our definition, it deserves an article, otherwise not. Notability is defined as the availability of information about the subject in the general press (WP:N). You cannot predict when a particular non-notable subject will suddenly become notable. It is technically possible for you to write a proposed article as a sub-page of your user page. This page will not be a mainspace article. It will not be indexed by search engines and it will not be reviewed until you later submit it for review. However, since Wikipedia is designed for collaborative editing there is no way to prevent other editors from finding this article and reading it if they know where to look. -Arch dude (talk) 16:34, 6 March 2023 (UTC)

Ancestral Charts
What is the policy on including ancestral charts for a member of royalty or nobility of any country? Is there a site-wide policy? What specific types of sources need to be given? Can someone block you from including a chart on an historical figure’s article but themselves include a chart on another similar figure’s article? Do all historical figure’s articles follow the same policy? What is the standard to follow: local consensus or site wide policy? Would two articles of the same nature (eg. Maria Theresa of Austria and Maximilian I of Mexico) have two different standards of inclusion? Thank you. CMD007 (talk) 19:16, 6 March 2023 (UTC)

Wikipedia deleted my fathers page
James Hugo Sporleder was removed by WIKIPEDIA representatives claiming he was not published.
I have St. Louis Post Dispatch published article introducing James Hugo Sporleder,
USA Senate Committee published quotes by James H Sporleder.
Where and why was it removed? Jeffry Sporleder (talk) 03:16, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Jeffry Sporleder: James Hugo Sporleder was deleted in 2021 after discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/James Hugo Sporleder. It was created in 2016 by Wendy.sporleder. PrimeHunter (talk) 04:13, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
- Nobody is suggesting that he wasn't published. The question is "Was there enough independently published material about him to base an article on?" The consensus in 2021 was that there wasn't. If you can point to sufficient sources to establish notability, then an article about him might be possible (but the deleted article would probably not be much use for the purpose, because it was evidently not based on suitable sources). Remember that nothing written, published, or commissioned by him, his family, his associates, or his employers would contribute to notability. ColinFine (talk) 15:45, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
If a draft is similar to an existing article
What should I do if I find a draft that covers the same topic as an existing article but the spelling is slightly different. Specifically, Draft:Kluay Buat Chi versus Kluai buat chi. Aithus (talk) 05:38, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Aithus. A draft about a topic that is already the subject of a Wikipedia article should be declined on that basis alone. Any new policy-compliant content in the draft should be merged into the existing article. Cullen328 (talk) 07:42, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Aithus: You can use {{AfC comment}} to say an article already exists.[3] If the spelling is a plausible search term then create a redirect. "Kluay Buat Chi" gives many Google hits including the capitals. I have redirected Kluay Buat Chi to Kluai buat chi. PrimeHunter (talk) 14:08, 7 March 2023 (UTC)

- @Blitzfan51 If you scroll to the bottom of the page at dbpedia, you will see a disclaimer that it is a Wikipedia mirror, in other words, they copied from us. Definitely don't use that as a source in our article, as it would be a circular reference. When I'm looking for sources for older articles, I tend to check the history to see when the oldest version of our article was created, then I limit my searching to sources that pre-date our article. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 15:20, 7 March 2023 (UTC)

Potential biog AfD
I just stumbled onto this biog Nicolas Sarkis which has many dead or deprecated citations. I think that notability is not met although he is author of a book. Would someone care to have a glance (it's short) and advise whether an AfD is appropriate here? Thanks. Thelisteninghand (talk) 16:01, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
- Dead links aren't great, but the fact that links went dead should not effect the notability of the subject. Nearly everything on the internet is archived somewhere.Help:Using the Wayback Machine has more information on how to find archived articles. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:19, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks - links and notability are two separate issues really. I can't see what makes the subject notable. The article appears to advertise his book and not much more. Cites to a PDF and publisher's website are not good sources I would suggest. I'll await further comments before AfD. Cheers. Thelisteninghand (talk) 21:00, 7 March 2023 (UTC)

Is there an IPA pronunciation validator?
I occasionally encounter articles whose subjects are words that are confusing for Anglophones to pronounce (such as Guerciotti). I was thinking about adding IPA pronunciation guides for some of these words that I happen to be certain of the correct pronunciations for. It occurs to me that an IPA validator which one could input IPA symbols into, to be able to listen to ensure that those symbols are correct for the word, would be a very useful tool. I have not been able to find any such validator. Can anyone point me in the direction of such a thing (if it exists) or otherwise provide guidance for how I can ensure that the IPA symbols I use sound accurate? Thank you. Bricology (talk) 22:32, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Bricology: If you use Template:IPAc-en to add the IPA pronunciations, each phoneme will display, when hovered over, an English word containing that phoneme (example: /ɡwɛərˈtʃɔːtiː/}. This works for displaying an Anglicized pronunciation, and you can preview your edit to make sure that the tooltips are showing what you intend. Displaying the authentic Italian pronunciation is a bit more complicated. Deor (talk) 23:01, 7 March 2023 (UTC)

Links
1) Is it better to link the search term with a red link to an article that doesn't exist or to link with a blue link to an article that explains some or the basics of the linked word? Red linking would seem to be clearly weaker for readers.
2) Do red links still lower the quality of the article? Namely, in one vote for a good article, half considered the red links to be a weakness. 2001:2003:F643:6A00:65DD:5020:12A4:9132 (talk) 08:42, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

If you consider this, you have three options. Which of the three I'd take would depend on the particular situation. Question 2: not straightforwardly, no. However, there's no point redlinking to imaginable topics that are unlikely to have viable articles any time soon. Do you have a better reason when you refuse to answer and give way to arbitrariness (and minor points), for example by invoking nationality? 2001:2003:F643:6A00:EC09:7040:1298:CD36 (talk) 15:27, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

Donations
Hi, after making a donation to Wikipedia (I have never made a donation to Wikipedia, but may do so in the future), the donation in question is used for what, precisely? If it is possible to know. JackkBrown (talk) 12:23, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- @JackkBrown Donations go to the Wikimedia Foundation. Among other things, they pay for the servers and running costs of Wikipedia in its many language forms. Note that those who write the articles don't get paid for doing so. Mike Turnbull (talk) 12:44, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

Accidentally linked the wrong article
Hi, I'm a new user of Wikipedia. While I'm enthusiastic, I made a mistake of accidentally linking a page to a disambiguation page when translating. When I tried to revert it by copying back the original content of the disambiguation page, which is short, it couldn't save my revert because it thought I was emptying the page.
Can anyone help with this? I would really appreciate it! Yn1203 (talk) 15:30, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Yn1203. Your contribution history on English Wikipedia shows no edits in article space, so I think you must be talking about something you added to the Indonesian pages. However, editing there should be as here, so you should be able to go to the History tab of the page in question and "undo" the bad edit. Then you can re-add the material with the full correct link. Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:37, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Michael,
- Thanks for your kind reply.
- So here's the case because I tried following your assistance yet I'm still confused:
- This is a page of the disambiguation page of Mary Morrissey in EN:
- Instead of adding the translation of the disambiguation page of Mary Morrissey in Indonesian, which was what I intended to do, I added the Indonesian translation of this page: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Morrissey
- Now, when I tried to revert/edit so that I could de-attach/remove the wrong, full Indonesian Mary Morrissey (American author) page from the disambiguation page, I was held by Wikipedia's bot that said I couldn't do it, because the disambiguation page's translation is much shorter, therefore the bot thinks I'm purposefully ruining the longer translation (which is about Mary Morrissey, American author, that was wrongly linked to the EN disambiguation pge instead of EN Mary Morrisey's American author page).
- Hopefully this is clear. Yn1203 (talk) 15:45, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- Ok, so looking at your global contributions, I think you're probably talking about this edit and this edit to Wikidata. Am I correct? ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 15:58, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi! Thanks for taking a look.
- I did edit those two Wikidatas, however, the issue is that Mary Morrissey's disambiguation page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Morrissey has the wrong ID translation.
- Instead of having the disambiguation page in Indonesian, it has the Indonesian translation of this page: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Morrissey.
- How can I remove/revert/unroll/undo the edit so the EN disambiguation page would have the correct ID translation? Yn1203 (talk) 16:47, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- Can you link here to the correct ID page? ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 16:56, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks ONUnicorn! But I think I got it. If you have a bit of time to spare, would you quickly check this page of Mary Morrissey in Simple English:
- And let me know if you can change it into Indonesian and see an Indonesian content?
- I think after browsing for a while, I finally got what I wanted! Please let me know if you wouldn't mind. Appreciate it :) Yn1203 (talk) 17:02, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- It looks like you got it fixed! Yay! ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 17:12, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- Yay! Thanks, Unicorn! You rock! I owe ya one! Yn1203 (talk) 17:23, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Yn1203 Yes, the simple English page is linked to Wikidata item Q112570588 and hence to many other-language articles including Indonesian. I think that your confusion was that there is a separate wikidata item (Q16876505) for the disambiguation page itself. Mike Turnbull (talk) 17:13, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

Getting my page out of sandbox?
I have my page setup in sandbox and would like it to be published, how do I achieve this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Janeksnowski/sandbox Janeksnowski (talk) 16:40, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- Janeksnowski To be frank- you don't, because it's completely unsuitable as an article and I have deleted it as blatant advertising amd possibly a copyright violation. Please read WP:COI and WP:PAID. If you are interested in writing an encyclopedia article that summarizes independent reliable sources, please read Your First Article and use Articles for creation to create and submit a draft. 331dot (talk) 16:48, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

SVG map of US states that is easily updatable
See discussion: Wikipedia:Graphics Lab/Illustration workshop#Map of US minimum wage by state. Am I imagining that there are plug-and-play SVG maps that are easily updated by pasting in a text list? I thought they existed. I have done a lot of editing of tables, and see various state and country lists that have data that would be more useful if the numbers were on the map for each state or country. Especially when combined with a color bar legend.
I edit Help:Table and Help:Sortable tables, and so I know how to convert the data from a column to a text list. With the state or country names to the left of the data. So a multi-purpose USA SVG map could be used for many topics: Minimum wages, cumulative Covid death rates, incarceration rates, rate of uninsured, and much more. With the data on the map. Not just a color bar legend, and coloration of states or countries. --Timeshifter (talk) 04:21, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
Positions
Good afternoon. I would like to bring to your attention these three pages: Naples, Jakarta, and Pretoria; the positions of the first caption of the "Naples" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naples) page are correct, while the positions of the "Jakarta" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jakarta) and "Pretoria" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretoria) pages, in my opinion, are incorrect (e.g. on the "Pretoria" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretoria) page, "Loftus Versfeld Stadium" should be the second-to-last in clockwise order from top to bottom, while, in the caption, it is not the second-to-last). JackkBrown (talk) 13:36, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I don't agree. Assuming Loftus Versfield Stadium is the rugby field, then that would be the fifth one clockwise from the top, which is where the caption has it. AndyJones (talk) 13:50, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
- PS I don't know much about Naples but it looks to me as if it's Naples that has the order wrong. AndyJones (talk) 13:53, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
- @AndyJones: I had thought of the order differently, and therefore incorrectly; I apologise. In any case, I have fixed the positions of the first caption on the "Naples" page ✅. JackkBrown (talk) 14:25, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

How to write a new article about my company
How to write on Wikipedia about my company . Mysubtube had achieved its goal and had helped many new comers get a hipe in social media. The agency had become an integral part of the digital marketing world and had become a household name in the industry. Josmy joseph (talk) 16:29, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
- Welcome. First, you'll need to ensure that the company meets the notability requirements listed here: Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Secondly, I would suggest reading the following: Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure, to ensure you know the rules in those areas. Now, to the meat of your question, you should be able to just type what you want to call the article in the search box and you'll be told that it doesn't exist. You can click on the red link to create the page. Alternatively, you can click on the "create a draft and submit it for review" link in order to create a rough draft of the article. This would buy you more time in fleshing out the page and other people would be able to help you, such as making suggestions, before the article goes live. Useight (talk) 16:38, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
- Useight Users with a clear conflict of interest should be encouraged to submit drafts via WP:AFC, not to directly create an article(usually such users aren't autoconfirmed anyway). 331dot (talk) 16:42, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
- That's a good point. Useight (talk) 17:51, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

- A quick Google clearly suggests that Mysubtube is unlikely to be a household name anywhere outside its own front door. Not that it matters, since Wikipedia is not an advertising platform, and only has articles on subjects who's notability can be demonstrated through significant coverage in independent reliable sources. Where such sources exist, articles are expected to be encyclopaedic and neutral, and editing by contributors with a conflict of interest is strongly discouraged. Contributors who have a financial stake in a subject are required to make a declaration to that effect. I suggest you concentrate on making your company live up to your hype - if and when it ever does, no doubt someone will consider it worthy of an article. AndyTheGrump (talk) 16:39, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
- Josmy joseph The short answer is that you don't. Wikipedia articles are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the topic, who take note of coverage of a topic in independent reliable sources and choose to write about it. Please read conflict of interest and paid editing. 331dot (talk) 16:40, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
Battle of Pogradec
There is a battle in Category:Battles of the Greco-Italian War not included. Battle of Pogradec. How can I add it? It does not help me edit pages etc there. Also it can be included in the main article of the war, where it refers to Pogradec being captured. PhoenixBrmnzo (talk) 16:47, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
- @PhoenixBrmnzo I moved it for you; it had been in the parent category about the war, not the one you suggested about battles of the war. To add or remove an article to or from a category, you have to edit the article you want to add or remove--not the category page. Go to that page and go into the edit part; at the bottom, you'll find the categories in double square brackets. Use those as a pattern. Uporządnicki (talk) 17:03, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
