Miss World 2012 will be the 62nd edition of the Miss World pageant to be held on August 18, 2012 in Dongsheng Fitness Center Stadium, Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China.[1] 116 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown, marking the biggest turnout in the pageant's history. Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela will crown her successor at the end of the event. The contestants will visit to Shanghai and Changshu.

Miss World Beach Beauty 2012 qualifiers were announced on August 2. There were 40 contestants who were selected as semifinalists and will go through the finals on August 3.

Bahamas: Daronique Young was appointed to represent Bahamas. She was the 1st runner-up at the Miss Bahamas 2011 pageant.
Barbados: Marielle Wilkie was appointed as "Miss Barbados World 2012" by the Miss Barbados World Organization. Marielle was a contestant in the Miss World Barbados 2011 pageant.
Botswana: Tapiwa Anna-Marie Preston was appointed as Miss Botswana 2012. She was the 1st runner-up at the Miss Botswana 2011 pageant.
Curacao: Stephanie Chang was appointed as "Miss Curacao World 2012" by Henny Reinilla, the national director for Miss World in Curaçao.
Dominican Republic: Sally Aponte was appointed as "Miss Mundo Dominicana 2012". She was originally scheduled to compete at Miss Supranational 2012.
Georgia: Salome Khomeriki was appointed to represent Georgia. She was the 1st runner-up at the Miss Georgia 2011 pageant and was originally scheduled to compete at Miss Universe 2012.
Germany: Martina Ivezaj was appointed as "Miss World Germany 2012" after a casting call took place.
Greece: Maria Tsagaraki was appointed as "Miss World Greece 2012" by Vassilis Prevelakis, the national director for Miss World in Greece. She was a contestant in the "Star Hellas 2010" pageant.
Hong Kong: Kelly Cheung was appointed to represent Hong Kong due to the shift date of the Miss World pageant conflicting with the national pageant. She was the winner of Miss Chinese International Pageant 2012 which organized by the same leading Hong Kong television station as Miss Hong Kong Pageant.
Iceland: Iris Thelma Jónsdóttir was appointed to represent Iceland. She was the 1st runner-up at the Ungfrú Ísland 2010 pageant.
Kazakhstan: Yevgeniya Klishina was appointed to represent Kazakhstan. She was the 1st runner-up at the Miss Kazakhstan 2010 pageant.
Korea: Sung Min Kim was appointed as the Miss World Korea 2012 by national director Jeong-ah Park. She came in 2nd during the Miss World Korea 2011 finals. Miss World Korea Organization was sued by HanKook Daily News as known as Miss Korea Organization. The case was dismissed, due to legal issue cause Miss World Korea Organization couldn't held Miss World Korea 2012 pageant. Miss World Korea Organization will held Miss World Korea 2013 pageant in 2012.
Lebanon: Sonia-Lynn Gabriel was appointed to represent Lebanon. She was the 2nd runner-up at the Miss Lebanon 2011 pageant.
Mongolia: Bayarmaa Huselbaatar was appointed as "Miss World Mongolia 2012", after a casting call took place.
Montenegro: Nikolina Lončar was appointed to represent Montenegro. She previously was appointed to represent Montenegro at Miss Universe 2011, where she was awarded the "Miss Congeniality" award.
Netherlands: Nathalie den Dekker was appointed to represent Netherlands by Kim Kotter, national director of Miss World in the country.
Nicaragua: Lauren Lawson was appointed as Miss Mundo Nicaragua 2012 by Denis Dávila, national director of Miss World in the country. She was the 1st runner-up at the Miss Nicaragua 2011 pageant.
Peru: Giuliana Zevallos was appointed as Miss World Peru 2012. She was Miss Perú 2010 and delegate at Miss Universe 2010 & Miss Earth 2008
Poland: Weronika Szmajdzińska was appointed to represent Poland. She was "Miss Polski Nastolatek" (Miss Poland Teen) 2011.
Portugal: Melanie Vicente was appointed as "Miss Republica Portugesa Mundo 2012" after a casting call took place.
Puerto Rico: Janelee Chaparro was appointed to represent Puerto Rico. She was the 1st-Runner up at the "Miss Mundo Puerto Rico 2011" pageant.
Serbia: Bojana Lecic was appointed to represent Serbia. She was the 1st runner-up at the Miss Serbia 2011 pageant and was originally scheduled to compete at Miss Universe 2012.
Slovenia: Nives Orešnik was appointed as "Miss World Slovenia 2012" after a casting call took place.
South Africa: Remona Moodley was appointed to represent South Africa after the initial winner, Melinda Bam couldn't make it due to "personal reasons". She was the 1st runner up at the Miss South Africa 2011 pageant.
United States: Claudine Book was appointed as Miss World United States 2012
Vietnam: Vũ Thị Hoàng My was appointed to represent Vietnam by Elite Model Vietnam, the franchise holder. She was the 1st Runner up of Miss Vietnam 2010 pageant and previously appointed to represent Vietnam at the Miss Universe 2011 pageant.
Replacements
Bulgaria: Gabriela Vassileva replaced the original winner of Miss Bulgaria 2012, Ina Mancheva, after officials found out there was a mix up with the internet public votes and the judges votes. Ina originally won the most popular internet votes, not the judges votes. [126] Gabriela was the 1st-runner up at the national pageant.
Fiji: Koini Vakaloloma replaced the original winner of Miss World Fiji 2012, Torika Watters, because Watters, 16, failed to meet the minimum age requirement of 17. Miss World Fiji pageant directory Andhy Blake acknowledged that he had erred in telling Watters she was eligible and stated that she would be eligible to compete in the Miss World 2013 pageant.[127]
Greece: Anastasia Sidiropoulou was replaced by Maria Tsagaraki due to Anastasia being denied her entry into the pageant.
Ireland: Rebecca Maguire replaced the original winner of Miss Ireland 2012, Marie Hughes because Marie did not meet the age requirements. Rebecca was the 1st-runner up at the national pageant.
Latvia: Anastasija Skibunova replaced the original winner of "Miss Latvia 2012", Eva Dombrovska, was not able to represent her country because of scheduling conflicts with her university studies. Dombrovska will represent Latvia in Miss World 2013 in Bali, Indonesia on September next year.
Nigeria: Damiete Charles-Granville replaced the original winner of "Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2012", Isabella Ayuk due to Isabella lying about her actual age. Damiete was the 1st runner-up at the pageant and was originally scheduled to compete at Miss Universe 2012. [128]
