Punjab Kesari Group is a Hindi-language newspaper published from many centres in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi in India. It is owned by the Punjab Kesari group (The Hindsamachar Ltd.). It is one of the four newspapers started by the group; the other three are Hind Samachar in Urdu, Jagbani in Punjabi languages and Navodaya Times in Hindi languages from Delhi ( NCR ).
The newspaper was established by Lala Jagat Narain and later on his elder son Romesh Chander took over the reins. However, during the days of terrorism in Punjab, both were assassinated, in 1981 and 1984 respectively.[2]
During those days of terrorism, Punjab Kesari worked as the newspaper of masses with its news and editorials. From then onward in a bid to provide direct and regular help to the families of terrorism-affected people, the management also established Shaheed Parivar Fund for the cause.[3]
Publication Centres
The newspaper has a daily circulation of approximate 15,71,000 copies which are printed from Jalandhar (since 1965),[4] Delhi (1983),[5] Ambala Cantt (1991), Palampur (2004), Ludhiana (2004), Jaipur (2006), Panipat (2006), Hisar (2006), Jammu (2007), Mohali (2008), Chandigarh (2009) and Shimla (2009).
Punjab Kesari Group
In 1948 the group came to existence with the publication of the Urdu-language daily Hind Samachar. Lateron with other daily newspapers Punjab Kesari (1965) in Hindi, Jag Bani (1978) in Punjabi and Navodaya Times (2013) in Hindi. The group publish from 13 centres- Jalandhar, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Mohali, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Palampur, Shimla, Hissar, Panipat, Ambala, Rohtak & Jammu from the states of Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. The in total daily average readership is more than 1.40 crore.
The founders made The Punjab Kesari Group a mouthpiece against corruption, nepotism and misuse of power and a forum for redressal of people’s problems and grievances. The Punjab Kesari Group has been actively involved in the rehabilitation of terrorists victims the country over irrespective of religion or caste. From decades the group is continuing its drive of helping the families of the victims of the separatism and terrorism of the 80’s and 90’s from Punjab and J&K.

Hind Samachar (Urdu)
First published on May 4, 1948, Hind Samachar is the first newspaper of the group. Today it is published from Jalandhar, Chandigarh and Jammu.
PUNJAB KESARI (Hindi)
Launched on June 13, 1965 with an initial print order of 3500 copies. Today, its circulation is 7,43,000 copies. Today it is published from Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Palampur, Panipat, Hissar, Jammu, Bathinda, Rohtak, Shimla.
JAGBANI (Punjabi)
Launched on July 21, 1978, today boasts a circulation of 3,29,000 copies. Today it is published from Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Bathinda.
NAVODAYA TIMES (Hindi)
A Hindi daily launched on August 6, 2013 from New Delhi now has a circulation of over 1,00,000 copies.
