MediaWiki talk:Spam-whitelist
Spam blacklists |
---|
|
The Spam-whitelist page is used in conjunction with the Mediawiki SpamBlacklist extension, and lists strings of text that override Meta's blacklist and the local spam-blacklist. Any administrator can edit the spam whitelist. Please post comments to the appropriate section below: Proposed additions (web pages to unblock), Proposed removals (sites to reblock), or Troubleshooting and problems; read the messageboxes at the top of each section for an explanation. See also MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist.
Please enter your requests at the bottom of the Proposed additions to Whitelist section and not at the very bottom of the page. Sign your requests with four tildes: ~~~~
Also in your request, please include the following:
- The link that you want whitelisted in the section title, like === example.com/help/index.php === .
- The Wikipedia page on which you want to use the link
- An explanation why it would be useful to the encyclopedia article proper
- If the site you're requesting is listed at /Common requests, please include confirmation that you have read the reason why requests regarding the site are commonly denied and that you still desire to proceed with your request
Important: You must provide a full link to the specific web page you want to be whitelisted (leave out the http://
from the front; otherwise you will not be able to save your edit to this page). Requests quoting only a domain (i.e. ending in .com
or similar with nothing after the /
character) are likely to be denied. If you wish to have a site fully unblocked please visit the relevant section of MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist.
Note: Do not request links to be whitelisted where you can reasonably suspect that the material you want to link to is in violation of copyright (see WP:LINKVIO). Such requests will likely be summarily rejected.
There is no automated notification system in place for the results of requests, and you will not be notified when your request has a response. You should therefore add this page to your personal watch list, to your notifications through the subscribe feature, or check back here every few days to see if there is any progress on it; in particular, you should check whether administrators have raised any additional queries or expressed any concerns about the request, as failure to reply to these promptly will generally result in the request being denied.
Completed requests are archived, additions and removal are logged. →snippet for logging: {{/request|841840462#section_name}}
Note that requests from new or unregistered users are not usually considered.
Admins: Use seth's tool to search the spamlists.

Notice to everyone about our Reliable sources and External links noticeboards
If you have a source that you would like to add to the spam-whitelist, but you are uncertain that it meets Wikipedia's guideline on reliability, please ask for opinions on the Reliable sources noticeboard, to confirm that it does meet that guideline, before submitting your whitelisting request here. In your request, link to the confirming discussion on that noticeboard.
Likewise, if you have an external link that you are uncertain meets Wikipedia's guideline on external links, please get confirmation on the External links noticeboard before submitting your whitelisting request here.
If your whitelist request falls under one of these two categories, the admins will be more willing to have the source whitelisted if you can achieve consensus at one of the above noticeboards.
Proposed additions to Whitelist (web pages to unblock)
This section is for proposing that a web page be whitelisted; add new entries at the bottom of this section. Completed requests will be marked with an appropriate Indicator then archived.

I would like to have just this page unblocked as it is a slide show at a trade fair showing some important information on the reduction in cost of electrolysers used to produce hydrogen. The slideshow isn't available anywhere else besides the video, and the video is published by a reputable publisher (H2FCHannover).

I have just made an article about a hospital run by this company (Alexandra Hospital (Cheadle)), and it would benefit from a link to the hospital's official website, as I sourced some statistics about the hospital from the website. BubbleEngineer (talk) 18:19, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

Infodrive India is a very authintic website and helping industry from past 21 years. Our intention is not to get backlink from wikipedia by posting any links, someone from our company has posted that, he is no more assoiated with the company. Hereby, as a trusted company we don't want to be backlisted by wikipedia, this reflectes really very bad on us. All the old links posted on wiki has been removed from our website and throwing 404 errors. We don't really own those links request you to please remove those links.
There are too many links helpful for wiki users one is Port code page, HS code page

Was a reference found in the article Price elasticity of demand. Template was on that article. Also, it looks like a good reference. Just trying to fix the article to remove the maintenance template. Thanks! Yoshi24517Chat Very Busy 04:44, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Yoshi24517: Declined. Alternatives exist. There is simply no need to link to a version on a website with an agenda to push, especially if that website was involved in a paid editing situation. The material is public domain, can be found on neutral websites (McMaster University for exam0le a copy hhere), and it could even be uploaded to WikiSource. --Dirk Beetstra T C 06:56, 28 April 2018 (UTC)

Tried to source several articles from here. Got a few whitelisted a while ago (pv-magazine.com/2018/01/06/solars-new-fertile-crescent), I would like this link (pv-magazine.com/2018/04/27/103-mw-solar-plant-comes-online-in-jordan) to be too. Why not just whitelist the whole domain? Makeandtoss (talk) 20:06, 28 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Makeandtoss: because the site contains mainly scraped material (see text), for some material it is unclear where it is coming from, and the site was spammed. What about http://enviromena.com/enviromena-tsk-inaugurate-jordans-largest-solar-plant/ .. this is recent, —Dirk Beetstra T C 00:50, 29 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Beetstra: I am looking for the 732, 835 MW figures, which seem to be only in pv-mag article. Makeandtoss (talk) 04:13, 29 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Makeandtoss: You mean the handwaving 'According to the latest available statistics, Jordan’s renewable energy capacity stood at 732 MW at the end of 2017, mostly derived from solar PV. After the commissioning of the Quweira project, this figure should now have surpassed 835 MW.' (from the pv article) ... which 'latest statistics', and they know it 'should now have surpassed'. Moreover, it seems in contrast with 'Jordan’s Energy Minister, Saleh Kharabsheh, said during the inauguration ceremony that this project will add to other projects that currently generate about 700MW and make up 8 percent of the total energy mix' (from the enviromena.com article). (note, 732 + 103 = 835 .. so I guess you have your numbers in the latter as well, 'about 700' and 103; that being said, the enviromena article suggests that the total solar capacity is now 644, not 835 .. unless there is evidence of more coming online. But well, now I am venturing into near OR territory). --Dirk Beetstra T C 09:18, 29 April 2018 (UTC)

. The link automatically downloads a PDF file.[1] It doesn't redirect. This is on the website of the South Korean Ministry of Unification, a reliable source that I need for their research on North Korean politics in Cabinet of North Korea and elsewhere. – Finnusertop (talk ⋅ contribs) 21:17, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

This forum thread was the first ever revelation presenting evidence for a case against Bytecoin (cryptocurrency) & CryptoNote. Recently many sentences relating to that case were removed from the CryptoNote article due to them being unsourced. As bitcointalk is blacklisted in Wikipedia, ability to reference this thread would be useful for those two aforementioned articles.

On the English wikipedia article List of ecclesiastical parishes in the Diocese of Bath and Wells there is a link to a page hosted on the web host app site, which is "temporary sleeping" but has been archived at the Internet archive wayback machine which is included in the article. I am trying to edit the page to make the changes suggested at Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of ecclesiastical parishes in the Diocese of Bath and Wells/archive1 but when I do I get the automated warning that the site is on the Wikipedia Blacklist. Any advice appreciated.— Rod talk 09:41, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

The link is an author's copy of a scientific paper by Philippe Kruchten. The paper is legally hosted on the author's blog page. The article is not available per se in the Web. Providing a deep link to the article helps readers to directly validate the claims made. The article Architectural decision would benefit. The link links to a PDF where Philippe Kruchten explains "What software architects are really doing", where the persons interested in the work of IT people would benefit from.
