President Lyndon B. Johnson.
With the appointment of Thurgood Marshall, Johnson placed the first African American on the Supreme Court.
Johnson named Abe Fortas to the Supreme Court, and later made an unsuccessful attempt to elevate Fortas to Chief Justice.

Following is a list of all United States federal judges appointed by President Lyndon B. Johnson during his presidency.[1] In total Johnson appointed 168 federal judges, including two Justices to the Supreme Court of the United States, 40 judges to the United States Courts of Appeals, and 126 judges to the United States district courts.
