NOWO (to read “novo”) is a Portuguese telecommunications company, currently[when?] the 4th major operator in Portugal.

Apax France and Fortino Capital have been NOWO´s shareholders since September 2015.[1] In Portugal these groups also own the telecommunications company ONI,[2] which operates in the corporate market.

NOWO has one of the biggest fiber optic networks, around 14,000 km (covering more than 70 municipalities and 200 parishes), with the capacity of providing service to more than 900 thousand houses.

Since its creation, the company has bet on the regional development of Portugal: it provided telecommunication services where other companies didn´t, and contributed to the incremental job positions and professional training in those regions.

History

NOWO was created in September 2016 as a result of the CABOVISÃO rebranding.[3]

NOWO defined for itself a position based on 3 essential values, which has set it apart from competitors and has brought it closer to clients: liberty of choice, transparency in the relationship with customers, and fairness of the services and products’ prices. These fundamental values of the brand were the starting point for the creation of its signature: NOWO. É justo (“It´s fair”).

The Service: Television, Internet, Telephone, Mobile

NOWO´s services are distinguished by the possibility of choice: instead of pre-defined service bundles, the client can choose a mix of TV, NET, Phone and Mobile from a base internet offer.

Furthermore, NOWO clearly states the possibility of celebrating non-fidelity contracts (or for a shorter period than the usual – 6 or 12 months).

NOWO has national mobile coverage, with 4G speeds, allowing the company to create a mobile offer available throughout the country and abroad, through roaming agreements established with foreign operators. The coverage is possible due to the MVNO agreement- mobile virtual network operator which allows use of other operator networks – celebrated on January 2016.

Prizes

NOWO was distinguished with two Prémios 5 Estrelas (5 stars prizes), in the Online Commerce field: winner in the category “Telecommunications Services” and “Online Telecommunications Commerce”.[4]

These prizes, based on the consumer’s evaluation of the NOWO product, were a result of the innovative service offer and online simulator.

Official Stores in Portugal

Aside from the large number of official and authorized Agents, NOWO has 20 stores in Portugal, spanning over the main cities of the country. These stores are located in Almada, Aveiro, Barreiro, Beja, Caldas da Rainha, Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Covilhã, Elvas, Évora, Lagos, Montijo, Portimão, São João da Madeira, Sacavém, Santa Maria da Feira, Seixal, Setúbal, Sines e Viseu.
