Spelt[edit]

Hi Nvvchar, please see [1], [2], [3], [4] and so on. "Spelt" is a perfectly standard past participle of "spell". In fact, it is "spelled" that is marked as specifically American. (This is somewhat similar to "burnt", "learnt", "leapt", etc.) Also, BTW, if you would like to create the article Uttanka, please feel free to go ahead. Barnstar[edit]

The Good Article Barnstar
For your contributions to bring Bangui to Good Article status. Thanks, and keep up the good work! I hope you will see the value in your work on such topics. We must get more African and Latin American articles up to GA. Central America is yet to have one on a place, so after Badajoz, let's pick a Central American's city of province to get up to GA status! ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 13:48, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

You're most welcome, am very grateful for your edits during my absence. I'm still not feeling overjoyed about wikipedia at the moment but look forward to making the needed edits to Badajoz over the next week. Offhand I think some of the sections need proofing, I spotted some words I'm not sure were translated entirely correctly but generally it looks in good shape. Perhaps you and Rosie could help fill in a few of the red links. After Badajoz, I say pick one of the Indian temple articles we did as a DYK or something or a Central American city. We have a whole backlog of DYKs to choose from anyway. One or two of the Antarctica GAs I think we could get to FA status actually given that they are as comprehensive as possible and quite well structured. Remember my Abuwtiyuw is an FA at that length. ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 18:48, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Greetings[edit]

Hello Nvvchar! One advice: I used for all German articles about wikipedia this official document, for writing one way of spelling places names. It could help you, because there are many different ways of writing in each sources. You can use the German articles for information, too. There is an article for every suco of TL in de-wp. Greetings, --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 05:50, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Oh, and one more thing: There was a census in 2010. Sources and numbers can be found in German articles. Greetings, --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 11:40, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

I saw from your user page that you are 70+. Did you watch Mughal-e-Azam when it first came out? Was the hype really that much? Although we need (and do have) sources to back up most claims made in the article, is there anything in there that you feel is exaggerated or simply not true? Likewise, are there things that you know of that are still missing and would like to see added? BollyJeff | talk 15:55, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

I am not sure if 'The Aerogram' qualifies as a reliable source. What I was asking is were you watching it in 1960? Did tickets really go for 10 times the normal price, etc.? Is all the 'hard to believe' stuff in the article really true. BollyJeff | talk 17:23, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Kanchi Kailasanathar Temple: IMO, Not ready for GA. Many refs were from WP:MIRROR Gyan. Removed them. Please replace refs. Some other refs may be problematic. Lonely planet is not so reliable for history of a temple. Also, Translation of Kailasanathar as “Lord of the Cosmic Mountain” seems off. It simply means Lord of Kailash. Teatro Español[edit]

Hi Nvvchar, how is Delhi ? Guess I haven't introduced myself yet. The Voracious Wikipedian, or the swan behind the gnome, as Rosie says. I have finished translating the article in question, but could not understand where you got the info about two brotherhoods. I've checked it and it is only one, although I don't remember if it's referenced or not. I have added the references copied from the Spanish article as well, but there's no page number there. Perhaps you could check them and decide which of the two reference forms to use, if that Harvard one, although I think there's not so many for this, or the one I used. Nonetheless, I would like to thank you and congratulate on your endeavor as for improving Teatro Español. Oh... I almost forgot. Please, could you list it at DYK, including Rosie's name and mine too of course ? Let's chat one of these days by the way... :) ! Krenakarore TK 15:37, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

The Great Ziegfeld[edit]

Can you check the spellings of the songs and writers and also source the $220,000 part and clarify what cost that?♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:32, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

Can you check to see if each book source lights up to the correct book in the bibliography and that any books listed which were removed during the copyedit are also removed from the bibliography? Can't find the Grey citation. Also can you check the source for "Initially, the main cast proposed for the film included Marilyn Miller, Irving Berlin, Gilda Grey, Ann Pennigton, and Leon Errol" ;Irving Berlin was a composer, so it is doubtful he'd have been cast as an actor in the film. I'll continue to work on it today, the music section could still do with improvement. Needs more information about each song and choreographed scene given that is was a landmark musical. I was hoping that there would be a book or two documenting production in detail with info on where it was shot etc but can't find anything unfortunately. Critically the film is now generally seen less favorably with a lot of critics thinking it too long and over the top, but there are still a lot of critics who really enjoyed the film and praise its elegance. My perception of the film would be similar to that when it came out, and I think for its time especially, it was a magnificent production. $220,000 for one set in 1936 would have been exorbitant by today's standards. I'll add the currency inflation templates to see what that would have been today. What I can't find critical comment on though is the film's humor, I thought not only the musical scenes were impressive but I thought the dialogue and character interaction at times was very funny.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:27, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

Can you also source "but the producers concluded that Billie Burke was not a big enough star at that point to play herself in The Great Ziegfeld." and the info about the design with 70 and 85 performers? I've asked Rosie to look into two remaining aspects, after a final scrub I think it'll be close to GA. Appreciate both of you helping.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:07, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

I'll let you and Rosie wrap it up before giving a final read and copyedit and posting at GAN. Really pleased with the developments on this and the foundations you laid on this before me.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:10, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

I've nommed Ziegfeld anyway.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:01, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. Marikamba Temple, Sagar[edit]

I have c/e it but questions remain: --Rosiestep (talk) 17:05, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

  • I changed the word Marikamma to Marikamba; is this ok or are they different goddesses? Why are one or both redlinks; are they not notable enough for their own article?
  • Does the goddess Mariamman have anything to do with Marikamba Temple, Sagar?
  • In the lede, the Nayaka dynasty sentence has an inline citation for Bhargava reference, page 469; but I don't see Nayaka mentioned on that page.
  • I don't understand Marikamba Temple, Sagar#History, paragraph 1 and I couldn't find an en lang ref ([5], [6], [7]). If you can point me to a RS in en lang, I'll re-write the paragraph and/or hook.

No worries!! --Rosiestep (talk) 18:06, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
