The article Kaoru Kobayashi (murderer) has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.
Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
In addition, one specific problem with this article was the complete lack of citation to sources. This meant that even if this was a notable crime in Japan, our policy on the biography of living persons means that the article must be deleted unless and until reliable sources are cited. --MCB 07:59, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Notability of Kazuko Fukuda
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Kazuko Fukuda, by Yuckfoo, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Kazuko Fukuda seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Kazuko Fukuda, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Kazuko Fukuda itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 03:06, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Yokozuna promotion
[edit]On Koji Kitao, I don't think there's an official 2-consecutive yusho requirement anyway. The YDC has some latitude in selecting candidates -- within limits, of course. They have enforced this as a de facto requirement, but in principle they can still recommend a candidate with an "equivalent performance". The great reluctance to do so probably results from the Futahaguro situation, but it's still not a hard-and-fast rule.
English-language sources exist for this, of course, but for myself I don't have a problem with Japanese sources per se. But caution is required, since the reliability of a source can be difficult to evaluate. There's a lot of misinformation out there. (And as I said, referencing an unreferenced ja:Wikipedia article isn't something we should do.) TCC (talk) (contribs) 00:09, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- You are right. To begin with I have seen for sure many false data in ja:Wikipedia; secondly the Yokozuna Deliberation Council surely admits an "equivalent performance" still now (though it has not been applied since his retirement). Anyway I overshot myself.--ACSE 00:52, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Yoarashi Okinu
[edit]I thanks for your contribution on Yoarashi Okinu.--Tokyo Watcher (talk) 13:48, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
I've re-inserted some of the tags which you removed. The reference tag is crucial - if there aren't any reliable, third-party sources, then Wikipedia should not have an article on it, and I will most likely refer the article to Articles for Deletion. The article as it stands also is not written from a neutral point of view, and I would myself copyedit the article, but I don't feel that I could do so as I now have a conflict of interest. Jame§ugrono 11:05, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- I thought that this article includes copyright violation, though I can't speak English well so I don't nominate the article.--ACSE (talk) 11:41, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of January 2008 stock market volatility
[edit]An editor has nominated January 2008 stock market volatility, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/January 2008 stock market volatility (2nd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 19:59, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Legal threat, BLP violation, or prank?
[edit]Hello, I come to here for your help, since you're actively editing articles related to criminology. I find the article of Joji Obara is tagged with a request for speedy deletion by a Japanese IP user, 210.131.61.24 (talk · contribs) who claims himself as a Japanese lawyer named Junichiro Hironaka. The user claims that Joji Obara is his client and the article violates WP:BLP with false information, so the article should be deleted.[1] Well, the article has been a lont-time tendentious subject for edit waring because of Joji Obara's nationality and ethnicity, so I have put it on my watchlist, but don't know his charges in detail. I googled the self-alleged lawyer's name, and it seems the lawyer indeed exists in Japan.[2] I don't know whether the IP user is the person or making a prank by impersonating the lawyer's name. Can you look into the article? Thanks--Caspian blue (talk) 14:06, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Junichiro Hironaka (弘中惇一郎) is actually a lawyer. Japanese know that he is professional for trials of defamation. Therefore, the jawp article was deleted because Japanese wikipedian believed that the IP user was Junichiro Hironaka, though his identity was not confirmed. However, I don't know whether or not the article should be deleted. Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons states "If the entire page is substantially of poor quality, containing primarily unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material about living persons, then it may be necessary to delete the entire page as an initial step, followed by discussion." However, the article is well-sourced.--ACSE (talk) 15:00, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, can you leave the above note to Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#BLP problems on Joji Obara?? An admin already posted about it there.--Caspian blue (talk) 15:07, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks a lot for translating the titles! Now, I have another request (sorry to be so bothersome)! Could you translate this article right here: http://www.oricon.co.jp/music/interview/080227_03.html (It's used as a reference in the BoA article, and I want to make sure there isn't wrong information in BoA's article.
PS: Thanks a lot for all your work in articles on Japanese singers (because of you, Namie Amuro's article looks much better than it did before you started work on it!) So...

Proposed deletion of Akiko Futaba
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Akiko Futaba, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- no indication that this person meets WP:MUSICBIO

notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Michael Jackson - "Biography" heading
[edit]Yes as a matter of fact I would say that his discography is part of his biography. In its literal sense, a "biography" is a writing a about the life of an individual and that includes, in this case, his discography etc. – ukexpat (talk) 14:33, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I said that. However, it is not the main reason. Wikipedia:Featured article criteria says that a featured article needs a system of hierarchical section headings and a substantial but not overwhelming table of contents. Therefore, I thought that "Biography" heading was needed.--ACSE (talk) 14:54, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- But a section heading should not duplicate the title/subject of the entire article. So as the entire article is a bio, I would argue that the "Biography" heading is unnecessary. In fact, I think using it, with subheadings below, actually clutters up the ToC. In any event, I am OK with leaving as is for now. When the editing frenzy has died down a little, maybe I'll try again. – ukexpat (talk) 15:22, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- If so, the "Biography" heading just should be renamed. For example, as of June 2009, Mariah Carey's article uses the "Life and music career" heading.--ACSE (talk) 15:47, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- New version of his article uses the "Life and music career" heading.--ACSE (talk) 00:36, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/One-night stand. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:08, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello ACSE! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

西野は「これからそれぞれ新しい道に進む皆さん、一人一人の気持ちに当てはめてこの曲を聴いてください」と話し、卒業生へのプレゼントとして新曲「遠くても feat.WISE」を熱唱した。
- I tried to translate the sentence. "Nishino said 'You who will go to new roads each from now, please hear the song applying to your hearts each' and sang the new song 'Tōkutemo feat. Wise' as a present for graduates."--ACSE (talk) 03:24, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- Firstly, can you check the kanji/romanji of 5 Centimeters Per Second.
- Then see what you can get from this interview from the director's site and maybe translate the stuff onto the talk page.
- Lastly, see if you can find more about the novel from this site and other ones since its not licensed in English. Take your time to do them. Thanks. Extremepro (talk · contribs) as 211.30.12.191 (talk) 08:10, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Romanization assistance
[edit]Hello there! I'm wondering if you could assist in romanizing the name 木鈴 芳. It appears to be an uncommon name with the family name characters a reversal of the name Suzuki (鈴木). It appears here, here, and here under the Director (演出) field. Thanks in advance! Arsonal (talk) 09:46, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know the exact reading, but I think that the name is read as "Mokurin (木鈴) Kaoru (芳)".--ACSE (talk) 17:52, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:01, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Translation help
[edit]Can you translate this
for me? I know it's a lot so whenever you have time. MS (Talk|Contributions) 23:55, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
- I roughly translated the sentences.
- 10nen Kinentai's five members—Natsumi Abe, Kaori Iida, Maki Goto, Risa Niigaki and Koharu Kusumi—sing the song by turns as if they interfold the voices and feelings of the world of its lyrics. There are many important points in the song such as Goto's shout in the final climax part and Iida's vocal like a veil having much breath, but the best among those may be the point that Niigaki succeeds Iida. "(…lyrics…)" The music changes from Iida's wet, amorous and genial vocal to Niigaki's vocal having its core. The part of the two singers' succession "(…lyrics…)" sounds like very dramatic by not only their voice qualities but also the changing of its lyrics.
- Just to be safe, I did not translate its lyrics because it may create a copyright violation.--ACSE (talk) 14:43, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry I took a while to reply. But thank you for taking the time to do this. MS (Talk|Contributions) 15:30, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Romanization for words of English origin
[edit]On the MOS:JP talk page, a discussion has been started about including or not including romanizations for words of English origin, such as Fainaru Fantajī in Final Fantasy (ファイナルファンタジー, Fainaru Fantajī) (for the sake of simplicity, I called this case "words of English origin", more information on semantics here).
Over the course of a month, it has become apparent that both the parties proposing to include or not include those romanizations cannot be convinced by the arguments or guidelines brought up by the other side. Therefore, a compromise is trying to be found that will satisfy both parties. One suggestion on a compromise has been given already, but it has not found unanimous agreement, so additional compromises are encouraged to be suggested.
One universally accepted point was to bring more users from the affected projects in to help achieve consensus, and you were one of those selected in the process.
What this invitation is:
- You should give feedback on the first suggested compromise and are highly encouraged to provide other solutions.
What this invitation is not:
- This is not a vote on including or excluding such romanizations.
- This is not a vote on compromises either.
It would be highly appreciated if you came over to the MOS:JP talk page and helped find a solution. Thank you in advance. Prime Blue (talk) 11:28, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
The article Steven Levenkron has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- It appears the subject is only notable for having treat Karen Carpenter, and is not notable in and of himself.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nuujinn (talk) 23:30, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

Fujinuma Dam
[edit]Hey ACSE, thanks for tidying up the Fujinuma Dam article. A bunch of the references I used for the failure section were in Japanese and I used Google Translate so some information may be incorrect. I also couldn't understand some of the translations so I may have left some valuable information out. For one, in the MSN source, I think one of the dam's (reservoir's) levees (or saddle dams) may have actually burst. If you don't mind looking them over (the MSN and Fukushima News reports), I'd appreciate it. Thanks.--NortyNort (Holla) 13:46, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
I just saw you reverted yourself with an edit summary of "rvv". You do know that means "ReVert Vandalism", right? I don't know if that was a typo or if you were calling yourself a vandal! Cheers, Valfontis (talk) 19:15, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry, I misunderstood the term "rvv". I thought that "rvv" means "ReVert the reVision". Thanks.--ACSE (talk) 19:36, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
- It seems to be a common mistake, along with thinking it's actually "rw". In this case, I would just write "rv self". Take care, Valfontis (talk) 19:48, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
On the name Shōwa Daibutsu
[edit]Hello ACSE, I noticed your new link. And as the term "Showa Daibutsu" is a pronoun, it's clear that it should not be translated as each individual word, like "Asahi Shimbun" is not translated as Asahi Shimbun. --Sateros (talk) 08:35, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, you are right. However, "Shōwa Daibutsu" should not be a link to Vairocana.--ACSE (talk) 08:49, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
- As Shōwa Daibutsu is "Dainichi Nyorai (大日如来=Vairocana [can be both Realms(金剛界、胎蔵界)])", I think it's a proper link. --Sateros (talk) 09:49, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
- Shōwa Daibutsu is a "statue" of Dainichi Nyorai.--ACSE (talk) 09:52, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
- Of course it's a statue not a spiritual being. I believe Wikipedia links are applied to closest articles in contents not exactly same. Otherwise you can't use links. --Sateros (talk) 10:08, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
- I believe that the closest article to Shōwa Daibutsu is Seiryū-ji (such as Great Buddha of Nara in Tōdai-ji and Great Buddha of Kamakura in Kōtoku-in). Also, I am afraid of WP:EASTEREGG.--ACSE (talk) 10:51, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
- OK, reverting to the original "Shōwa Daibutsu" (without links) may be a good idea. --Sateros (talk) 11:04, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
Hihi! I'm part of the WP:URBLPR effort, and we try and look at unreferenced biographies and, where possible, add at least one reliable reference to them. I noticed your name in the history of Elisa (Japanese singer), who I'm having a heck of a time finding something reliable for, in part because of having no fluency in Japanese, is there any chance you could point me at something appropriate, or add one or more WP:RS's there? it'd be much appreciated. I just want to point out that the issue needs clarity for standards which I think is important. If some inconsistencies are introduced, the examle can be made as a reference for changing look of pages on other countries, and then further many related pages. let me also know if there are such issues in some pages with similar context ..असक्तः सततं कार्य कर्म समाचर | असक्तः हि आचरन् कर्म..
