Creating redirects for unsourced albums
Hi Jax. In future, can you please make sure when creating redirects for albums or any type of release, that the title is actually sourced? Just because an IP or even a registered editor has added a title to the page, it doesn't necessarily mean it's correct. There are certain IP editors whose main contribution to Wikipedia is to go around and add hoax album titles to pages. I've reverted plenty of them, so don't trust these. Please take the time to research them yourself before creating anything. Thanks. Ss112 03:39, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
- Jax, you knew quite well when you created it a month ago that Eyes Set To Kill (album) was incorrectly capitalised, and then of course, God forbid you create content at the correct redirect I made, so after you create something at your incorrectly capitalised redirect, you request it be moved over the top of mine. I find that really disingenuous and underhanded, and quite transparent with how quickly after you made it you went to WP:RM/TR. For somebody who creates quite a few redirects and has fought to keep their credit in the history (you've even requested pages be un-deleted so your redirect could be restored), you sure don't like to let anybody else keep theirs. Ss112 11:49, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
- Reply - @Ss112:, first things first, WP:AGF. I apologize for my error, I accidentally created the album article for Eyes Set to Kill at the wrong title (with the capital "T"). The fact is, that once I had done so, my only choice was to move the article, which seemed at the time, to be the responsible thing to do. With that said, if you like, I can contact @QEDK: to perform a history merge. --Jax 0677 (talk) 13:54, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
- The histmerge would be useless, because I created the redirect after you created the incorrectly capitalised one. Also, in my experience, admins/page movers don't care about preserving redirects when merging or moving drafts/pages. Ss112 13:56, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
- Reply - @Ss112:, sometimes, I have a redirect restored if I feel that the history should be kept in tact. I would not overwrite a redirect for the sole purpose of claiming it as mine. --Jax 0677 (talk) 14:15, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
- I don't think this is as serious as you guys making it to be. Histmerges are only required if the history needs to be preserved, a single-edit redirect isn't much. I'm obviously not aware if the whole technical request was premeditated to get the credit so I won't speak for that but there's nothing to do, the current setup is correct. --QEDK (後 🌸 桜) 17:22, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
- Reply - @QEDK:, agreed. --Jax 0677 (talk) 19:21, 6 March 2018 (UTC)

Tran9644
I saw that you welcomed Tran9644 (talk · contribs). This user was a sockpuppet of Jack Gaines (talk · contribs)/SuperPassword (talk · contribs), a serial sockpuppeteer who's been vandalizing song articles and has a vendetta against Alan Jackson in particular. Since you edit music articles a lot, maybe you could help me if their shenanigans come up again. Could you please revert any of the following if you see them in an article?
- "Bro-country" in the "genre" field of {{Infobox song}} or {{Infobox album}} under any circumstances
- Any mention of Alan Jackson covering an obviously not-country song (e.g. something by Lil Wayne). This will usually be "sourced" to a setlist.fm profile.
- Any negative edits pertaining to Alan Jackson articles
- Anything with the edit summary "#AlanJacksonKilledCountry" or "Look at the lyrics"
Thanks. Ten Pound Hammer • (What did I screw up now?) 22:05, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

You tagged this template with {{update}} but did not start a talk page discussion that I could see. What specifically needs updating? Best, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 23:29, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- Reply - @L235:, {{Uw-unsourced4im}} is a redlink, and should be removed from this template and perhaps others. --Jax 0677 (talk) 15:09, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
- I've removed the 4im link. Anything else? Is there a particular reason that you tagged this version of Template:Uw-unsourced4, which itself never had the 4im link? It's not that helpful to tag pages without providing an explanation on the talk page – or, indeed, to tag when it would be just as easy to fix the problems. Overtagging isn't particularly helpful and many maintenance categories continually grow without people actually fixing the problems tagged. If there is nothing else, please consider removing the tags. Best, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 16:55, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
- Reply - @L235:, AFAIK, only the {{Uw-unsourced4im}} template was out of date when I tagged the article. I have removed the {{otd}} tag, which should have a purpose if it does exist. --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:33, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

Your recent editing history at Template:Rose Royce shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. --woodensuperman 14:27, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
Years in music template
As I mentioned here, it probably doesn't make sense to keep adding years to templates at this time. I know that the discussion isn't closed yet, but right now there's 8 against, 2 in support, and 2 who are basically "Maybe/Sometimes". It's been running for 2 weeks, there's been a lot of participation from a number of editors, and input has been slowing down - at this rate, you're going to be hard-pressed to find any other consensus other than "don't add years". Sergecross73 msg me 20:33, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
- Reply - @Sergecross73:, I have added a notice at WP:ANFRC, the discussion is not a vote, so until a decision is made, I am within my right to add years, as Killswitch Engage has two albums with the same title. --Jax 0677 (talk) 20:37, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm well aware of NOTAVOTE, you don't need to explain the basics to me. But think logically about the nature of the RFC, and the responses it has gotten. There hasn't been a single invalid argument cast. You may disagree with their stances, but they're not the type of thing that can just be discounted, like at AFD, where someone says "Keep the article because I like it" or something. You're just regurgitating policy without actually thinking about the context of the situation. Sergecross73 msg me 21:03, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
- Since no consensus was reached on this topic at this time, you should only add years to navboxes you create and I will refrain from removing them from existing ones that have them. So if I create some without years, you shouldn't add them. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:35, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
- Reply - @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars:, your statement is not listed in [the final decision], and if it is, you need to show me that. --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:56, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
- The result was no consensus. There was just a suggestion, dude, to prevent future edit wars. A few people like them, most don't. What you're implying is that you have the right to include them anytime you want even if I created it and don't feel they don't provide any navigational benefit. Please provide your interpretation of "no consensus". --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 19:47, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
- Seconded. It was a disappointing close to the discussion, but that aside, "no consensus" isn't a free pass to keep adding it all over, people are still equally allowed to remove it as well. When your additions are challenged, the correct response would be to follow general protocol - WP:BRD - and open up a discussion about it on the talk page. It would work the same for me too, FYI: If I tried removing it from one that has had years in it for a while, and you challenged it, then it would be up to me to start up a discussion. Sergecross73 msg me 19:57, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
- Reply - @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars:, @Sergecross73:, I needed some time to think about this. I guess unless there is a good reason to include the year [i.e. {{Killswitch Engage}}], I will follow your suggestion, at least for now, and will only add the album years to music navigation boxes that have years next to albums, music navigation boxes that I already created, or music navigation boxes that I create in the future. --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:03, 9 February 2018 (UTC)
- No, you shouldn't add them to navboxes just because you happen to have created them, WP:RETAIN applies here. Also, WP:OWN. --woodensuperman 14:30, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- Also, I cannot see how that discussion closed as "no consensus" when there was clear consensus not to include. I'd suggest a wider forum next time, maybe the WP:VPP and perhaps a note at the template project and the a note at WT:CLT would alert active editors... --woodensuperman 14:35, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- Note that I said "you should only add years to navboxes you create", not ones you created long ago in which the years have since been removed. Because of the ruling of no consensus in the RfD, my suggestion was existing navboxes should remain as is (per WP:RETAIN as Woodensuperman has referenced), but if you create a new one and you're going to put release years, I am not going to get into an edit war by removing them. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 00:02, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi, you didn't need to reset the |rfcid=
here - Legobot would have noticed the changed text. Resetting a |rfcid=
is usually only necessary when removing one or more category codes - |media
being a category code - or when adding one or more category codes to a {{rfc}}
that has no category codes at all. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 09:05, 24 March 2018 (UTC)
Adding WikiProject Hip Hop templates
Hi. Can you please not add the {{WPHH}} template to talk pages if the release is not sourced as being hip hop on its article? Just because Mike Shinoda has made hip hop material, it doesn't mean everything he does is hip hop or is necessarily within that scope. I think the project tag should only be added when the release is sourced as being hip hop on the target article otherwise it could come off as WP:OR. Thanks. Ss112 19:25, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
The article April 2018 North American storm complex has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Fails WP:NOTNEWS, not a "natural disaster" of lasting impact but an all-too-common bad weather day which happens in almost every country several times a year, and is as good as forgotten when the next such "natural disaster" arrives.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fram (talk) 07:02, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
2018 outbreak of Salmonella moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, 2018 outbreak of Salmonella, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the confirms on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. "Mmm Mmm Mmm" was already cited in the text of the article, so it doesn't need to be cited again in the discography. I did add a source verifying "Lay It on Me". Ten Pound Hammer • (What did I screw up now?) 22:59, 11 April 2018 (UTC)

- I'm sorry, but poking around in that range of IPs, it appears that most, if not all, of them belong to midphase.com - a really cheap web host that's been blocked for about five years. You seem to have been editing just fine until a few hours ago. I'm not sure why. Did you maybe forget to log out of a connection to that host? If you gave us your specific IP address (not a range) I could check that one specifically to see if maybe it just happens to overlap with the midphase range. Kuru (talk) 20:59, 14 April 2018 (UTC)

Hello, Jax 0677. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Sleeping in United States Congress offices, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
- edit the page
- remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Speedy deletion nomination of Jeffrey Reinking
A tag has been placed on Jeffrey Reinking requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- Tavix (talk) 02:48, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

- Are you serious? So you've even known for a fact that it was an accident, and he even apologized, and yet you've still been going around talking about how its your "right" to revert him wholesale? Come on, man. Please, in the future, just try to help newbies out. At least link to the WP:DIFs if you can't be bothered to restore it. (I've already done it for you this time.) Sergecross73 msg me 13:56, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
- Reply - @Sergecross73:, Vlastella8 has been a user since 2016, and therefore, is not a brand new user. He can add the material back on his own, which will help him learn how to add comments. I was once told that if I added copyrighted material to an article (such as Triumph Group), that another user has the right to perform a wholesale revert instead of parsing through everything. --Jax 0677 (talk) 14:07, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
- Please think about this a little more critically. They have less than 500 edits to their name all-time, and over half of those edits were made in the last week - in May 2018. They don't even know how to sign their posts correctly yet. Regardless of account age, they're clearly a newbie in terms of being inexperienced, which is the actual point being made here. Sergecross73 msg me 14:09, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
- Also, that example is incomparable. WP:COPYVIOs require swift wholesale removal because of potential legal issues. That sort of mindset does not apply to all editing, certainly not talk page discussions. Sergecross73 msg me 14:11, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
Ways to improve Chris Harrison (American football)
Hi, I'm Willsome429. Jax 0677, thanks for creating Chris Harrison (American football)!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Meets WP:NGRIDIRON, though barely. Make sure to come back and add reliable sources to make sure the page does not get deleted.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

On the Lori McKenna article, the header "Early Work" has citations to allmusic and lorimckenna.com verifiying the existence of Paper Wings and Halo and The Kitchen Tapes. Since they're verified in that part of the article, they don't need to be verified again in the discography table. Ten Pound Hammer • (What did I screw up now?) 22:43, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Middle name redirects
Why do you keep making middle name redirects, like Drew Bieber, when every single other one you have created gets deleted at WP:RFD? Please stop with this disruption—if it continues I am considering requesting a topic ban from creating redirects. -- Tavix (talk) 13:42, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
Clarification
Just as a clarification, I declined the histmerge of Acoustic Dreams (Echosmith EP) because there was nothing to merge - if you look at the history of Acoustic Dreams (Echosmith album) you'll see that Avenged added a bunch of text, removed it, and then added it to the main article instead. Since it was all one editor, there is no attribution issue, and thus a histmerge is unnecessary. I apologize for any confusion over this. Primefac (talk) 18:48, 29 May 2018 (UTC)

Did you even read the text of the Walker Hayes article? The sentence
"Craig" is the album's second single.
is the last sentence of the "Musical career" section and what do you know, it has a footnote. It doesn't need to be cited again in the discography table. The two extended plays are also verified in the same paragraph, so they do not need to have additional citations in the discography table. Do you even read the actual article and see if the text verifies something? Ten Pound Hammer • (What did I screw up now?) 01:14, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, two whole paragraphs is such a "ginormous" article that people can't find the sources confirming "Craig" only TWO LINES UP FROM THE GODDAMN DISCOGRAPHY. Ten Pound Hammer • (What did I screw up now?) 03:57, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

Yamaha navbox
Jax, is there a navbox for Yamaha Corporation and/or Yamaha Motor Company. I was looking for a navbox to add the Yamaha R-MAX article to, but couldn't find one. The R-MAX appears to be the only article we have for a Yamaha aircraft, so an aircraft navbox probably would be deleted for having only product link. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 19:06, 20 June 2018 (UTC)

Is this going to be a new thing?
You're going to create albums at incorrectly capitalised titles (Laps Around The Sun) knowing full well that this is the case, then request a move at WP:RM/TR to the correctly capitalised title to overwrite a redirect I made just so you can avoid writing anything at it? This sounds like dishonest conduct to me. You can't cry WP:GOODFAITH either; this isn't the first time. Just do the right thing in the first place. Ss112 23:03, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
- Reply - @Ss112:, there is no proof that I deliberately made the article at Laps Around The Sun. --Jax 0677 (talk) 13:52, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- Jax, you've been on Wikipedia for how many years now? You have created plenty of correctly capitalised articles, and I don't know why you'd consider this an exception. I'm sure if Laps Around the Sun were not a redirect I made at the time, you would have made it there. While in the process editing the page, you even requested it be moved at WP:RM/TR. Seems pretty deliberate to me. Ss112 14:21, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- Reply - @Ss112:, maybe I put it at the wrong capitalization by accident, and deliberately requested the move later on? --Jax 0677 (talk) 14:24, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- Then how is it pretty much every other time you create a redirect or start an article, you know the right place to create it at? You recently made Fire for Effect, so it appears you know what words are to be capitalised and what aren't. Ss112 14:26, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- Reply - @Ss112:, mistakes will happen from time to time. I ask you, what proof do you have that I made the article at the wrong title deliberately? --Jax 0677 (talk) 16:19, 25 June 2018 (UTC)

Articles shouldn't be made at wrong location on purpose, but there's also nothing wrong with creating a WP:DRAFT or Userspace Draft (User:Jax 0677/Draft Article's Name) and then requesting it be moved into the article space over the redirect like you've been doing, Jax. I'm pretty sure RM/TR will still take care of that, and even if it's outside of their scope, you can either request a WP:G6 deletion to get the redirect out of the way, or ask me for assistance, I don't mind helping with this sort of thing either, as long as the article clearly demonstrates meeting the WP:GNG. FYI. Sergecross73 msg me 16:25, 25 June 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for starting this. I'm thinking it might be better if as we continue to add to the template, we make a distinction between GSN's current programming still in production and their former programs (e.g. Baggage, Catch 21, The American Bible Challenge) that have ceased production. Disambiguated titles
Hi, when moving pages to a disambiguated title, please don't capitalize the words within the disambiguation part as you did with Chemicals (Song). If further disambiguation is necessary, such as the name of the band, then the band's name would be capitalized in a manner consistent with the band's Wikipedia article. If a move is not allowed, there are templates you can use that will alert admins to fix it, such as {{db-move}}. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 02:34, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
