Battle of Uxian Defile[edit]

Hey, for Battle of Uxian Defile, the references were not done properly and are WP:bare URLs. In order to fix it, open up the page editor and click cite on the editor toolbar, click cite web and paste the URL. You will have to do this for each one at the exact spot you want the references to cite. When you are done, create a References header then insert the word "reflist" without the " and in between & KING OF WIKIPEDIA - GRIM LITTLEZ (talk) 05:41, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

No problem man, good article, especially for your first one. I created my first one last Sunday. Good feeling lol. The tags don't mean any harm, but yeah just fix up those refs and you're good to go. Oh and once you fix them, feel free to remove the tag. KING OF WIKIPEDIA - GRIM LITTLEZ (talk) 06:01, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden. Siege of Pelium[edit]

Hey, in the editor's box, if you click cite, then click templates and go to cite web(or book, whatever the source comes from), you can put the references in that way. Put as much info as available. If you have trouble for some reason, let me know. KING OF WIKIPEDIA - GRIM LITTLEZ (talk) 20:33, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

This is what I'm talking about:

  • ^ you click cite then that drop down. select book.

Request for feedback[edit]

I have posted feedback on your article on Requests for Feedback, including the suggestion above. Keep up the good work! :)--3family6 (talk) 23:22, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Hello there! This is a pretty cool article, I always love articles about historical battles! Overall, it is a pretty decent article, but I am going to be very picky, so don't get discouraged. First, I would work on the lead some more. Why exactly was this battle notable? What was the outcome? What events did it cause, if any? Basically, the lead should go over the all the main points about the material in the article body. Something else you might want to mention in the lead is that there were no casualties, which is quite interesting. When you have polished up this article, I would highly recommend requesting it to appear on the Did You Know... section of the Wikipedia main page. Second, you need to work on the overall tone. It seems a little to essay like. For instance, in the lead, you could change "It was critical for him to take this pass as it gave him easy access to Illyria and Macedonia, and there was unrest in Greece at this time in Athens and Thebes which required his presence to quell" to "It was critical for Alexander to take this pass as it provided easy access to Illyria and Macedonia, which was urgently needed in order to quell the unrest in Greece at this time in Athens and Thebes." Basically, try to make the tone more formal and less informal. Third, more wikilinks (example). Where are Illyria and Macedonia? Imagine that I have never heard of these places, which is extremely likely for the average reader (I know where they are, but most people won't). Fourth: In the infobox, get rid of the "defeated" mention about the Illyrian combatants, it is unneeded. Also, make sure Albania is linked and capitalized in the infobox. Finally, general cleanup. Make sure that references come after punctuation marks, not before (I've made this mistake a lot, so for me it stuck out like a sore thumb!). Also, fill out your citations with the cite template, which should be available in the editing box (it would be under the "cite" option). Overall, it is a good article, and once it is cleaned up I would again highly recommend that you submit it to Did You Know.... If you have any questions, let me know, and if you are interested you can also review the article I'm working on. Good luck,--3family6 (talk) 16:47, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Just letting you know, I've checked the changes you've made to the article, and it looks much better. If you don't mind, I'll put it up for Did You Know...? Nice Work!--3family6 (talk) 14:49, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
absolutely. Please do. I hope you don't mind that I moved that comment you made over to my wall, so I could actively refer to it now, and later.SteveMooreSmith3 (talk) 15:02, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
No problem. Here's what the DYK people said needs to be fixed before the article goes forward:
"Date and length checks out, but the hook is not cited. The article could also use some attentive copy editing, as there are some sentence fragments and, it appears, English idiom issues. (In addition, those MS Paint battle diagrams should be labelled. It's hard to tell what they mean without an explanation.) — AJDS talk 18:03, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

And the sources are Bare URLs. — AJDS talk 18:04, 12 July 2011 (UTC)"

I'll try and help out and do what I can.--3family6 (talk) 02:16, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Siege of Pelium - DYK[edit]

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Mallians-1.png[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:Mallians-1.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Submitting article for Did You Know...[edit]

In case you were unaware, Did You Know... is for newly created or article recently expanded five-fold or more. As pretty much all of your articles are sourced, I would suggest submitting them here. I plan to review your articles for cleanup, etc., but you should definitely put them up for submission.--3family6 (talk) 16:51, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Florentine military reforms[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Florentine military reforms requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. SteveMooreSmith3 (talk) 10:52, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Campaign of the Mallians...[edit]

I was wondering if you needed any advice with the maps? The rest of the article is looking rather good, but the maps, although accurate, had a slightly rougher feel to them. I'm no expert, but I did the maps at John, King of England#Loss of Normandy, 1202–04, for example. I do most of mine with a combination of Paint (the standard Windows tool) and Inkscape (freely downloadable opensource vector tool), and if you're interested I could talk you through how to use them for producing campaign maps. Hi. When you recently edited Hannibal's Crossing of the Alps, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Marcus Aemilius Lepidus (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Capua and Hannibal.jpg[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:Capua and Hannibal.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
