Request[edit]

Hi, I promptly replied[1] to your message and I referred this serious matter to my parent and to Rkikto, admin.[2] Rest assured, I will fairly and justly comply with your request upon clarification by these.[3]--Florentino floro (talk) 13:59, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. TheCoffee (talk) 09:23, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I aptly discussed[4] - on Max’s newly created Mount Talinis my point on the 33 meters a.s.l. difference from our debated 1870 vis-à-vis 1864, where the latter/our figures are made quite irrelevant when ascent by trekkers are concerned. The big problem with 33 square meters difference between the Dumaguete info link and the trekkers 1903 link, is that, the Government now, must establish the correct height of this Mount. Since you live there, you can ask the local government of Valencia and Negros Oriental to officially issue a circular or executive order on this, inter alia, for the benefit of trekkers and foreign biologist-scientists who spent huge sums, to study the rarest endemic animal species found only in this Mount, and nowhere else in the world. 33 meters, thus, is big Factor.Talk:Mount Talinis Regards.--Florentino floro (talk) 13:27, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Eastwood City[edit]

A tag has been placed on Eastwood City, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. benjicharlton (talk) 04:53, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I replaced the Speedy template and added a HANGON template but you need to write on the talk page why you believe this article does not breach the criteria for speedy deletion.

September 2008[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Eastwood City, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. benjicharlton (talk) 23:15, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, it's been so long since I've had to deal with speedy deletion. TheCoffee (talk) 23:29, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Eastwood City[edit]

A tag has been placed on Eastwood City requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. (Note that I changed the speedy reason for the article.) Seal of Philippine LGUs[edit]

Hello TheCoffe, you uploaded a lot of them. Where did you get them from? Is there any chance to get Hi-Res pictures? As it is in agreement with Commons-licencing-policy I'm on the way to upload them on Commons. Regards --Septembermorgen (talk) 15:23, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The ones I uploaded were mostly provincial seals that i got from Flags of the World. I think they had provincial flags there and I just cropped the seal out of them. Doesn't really get much more high res than the ones I uploaded though. TheCoffee (talk) 16:07, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ph seal tarlac.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ph seal tarlac.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:37, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The RfC on this user has been closed. As you were one of the certifiers, I am letting you know that a conslusion has been reached on the page that you may want to read. Wizardman 23:30, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There's been an IP user than has been insistent on using birth names instead of common names of people. Even when there are article names already, he simply replaces it with the birth name, it's getting stupid. Would you consider semi-protecting it for a while (if it hasn't by the time you've read this)? And also revert his latest edits and do the same for NCAA Basketball Championship (Philippines) just in case, since I've ran out of 3RR. Barnstar gratitude[edit]

Thank you very much for the barnstar; however, there seems to be a few misconceptions. The article was start-class when I started working on it in June. Research and image searches began in July, and the first draf, started in early September, was completed on September 21. It was pretty much a two-month effort (although if we strictly go by man-hours, then it could be a month)... It was a fun time though, the research really threw up more and more interesting stuff that kept me going. Jappalang (talk) 02:17, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image permission problem with Image:Tshomlee_go.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Tshomlee_go.jpg. I noticed that that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. bluemask (talk) 12:43, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Big_Manila_orig.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Big_Manila_orig.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 06:35, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Talk:Characters in Neon Genesis Evangelion/List of ancillary characters in Neon Genesis Evangelion[edit]

Hello, you deleted Talk:Characters in Neon Genesis Evangelion/List of ancillary characters in Neon Genesis Evangelion in 2005 as a orphaned talk subpage, however I looked through the archive of the talk page, and it is clearly indicated as a history subpage (article was moved to a talk subpage to preserve page history, as part of a merge), and it is linked to from the archived talk page. I think this causes problems with GFDL and history accessibility. Talk:List of Neon Genesis Evangelion characters/Archive 1 76.66.195.159 (talk) 11:03, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox Film[edit]

Hello, I am writing in response to your change to the {{Infobox Film}} template. I do not believe that it is appropriate to restore the redundancy of external links because if you look at the page history, the removal took place a month ago. If we look at WP:CONSENSUS, it says, "Silence implies consent if there is adequate exposure to the community." Since this removal affected many film articles and would definitely qualify as adequate exposure to the community, one would expect a flood of editors complaining about the redundancy being removed. Since you have been around for some time, I think you can recognize that there are sometimes systemic changes that will draw editors to a discussion and restore the status quo. Clearly, there has not been such a response to the removal of the redundancy because the original links already exist in the "External links" section. This silent consensus for a month clearly shows that this change, visible in many film articles, has been accepted. I ask you to reconsider your restoration based on this evidence. No resource is being deprived to any reader since it already exists in the right section. —Erik (talkcontrib) 02:12, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Coffee, not seen you around for a while. Good to see you. I have to say I think you're reopening a can of worms by reverting this. Did you read the older discussions first? I chipped in here when it was three weeks in. It dragged on for another three weeks afterwards before the change was eventually implemented. I think the actual discussion was exhausted pretty quickly, but basically it was held up by one or two editors who made it clear they would declare any claim to consensus illegitimate. It might look like there was no consensus for the change from the post-mortem but the dissent only really comes from these editors. I'd also agree with Erik that there has been remarkably little objection to the change from uninvolved parties considering how many thousands of articles are affected, and this seems to support the removal. I can't consider myself uninvolved, alas, but I'd ask you to consider these points if you didn't read through the whole discussion before reverting (and I wouldn't blame you if you didn't). Flowerparty 09:26, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hiya Flowerparty. The discussions I read were just the ones on the talk page now; I didn't look into the archives. I disagree that there was such silent consent, there were objections to the edit. I also had in mind the rule of thumb that "When in doubt, don't delete". I do not plan on getting deeply involved in this debate-- I will stand by my edit, but if some admin disagrees and undoes it, I won't pursue the matter. Proposed deletion of Couples for Christ[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Couples for Christ, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Lacks 3rd party sources

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. 12th Congress of the Philippines[edit]

12th Congress should bear 2001 elected officials, not 2004. The 2004 elected officials should be on the 13th Congress. It needs to be fixed. For example, Reynaldo Calalay was the congressman of the 1st District of Quezon City. Bingbong Crisologo was then a councilor. Roilo Golez was the National Security Adviser and was elected congressman of the 2nd District of Parañaque City in 2004. Parañaque City was lone district then. We need to get help from Scorpion prinz for the completion of the table as well as the 11th Congress. --Exec8 (talk) 05:30, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Pocket cube.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Pocket cube scrambled.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Pocket cube scrambled.jpg]]. Joseph Estrada[edit]

Why deceitful? I put my sources where I get them. When I first saw Erap's wiki article it was so biased and the "presidency" section only contains about his corruption charges, so I look for the other things he did in office.- Philippinepresidency (talk) 02:24, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edits[edit]

I did not edit something in the "president of the philippines" in quite some time. The last time i edited it was when i added the "after presidency" section. I also removed "neutrality" in the talk-joseph estrada page because it says I don't have any sources but I already did. If I am going to be blocked, then so be it, just don't remove the things I added to erap's page it is unfair to just write up something on the negative things he did in office. No president just sits in the Malacañang palace and do nothing. They may have committed mistakes, and same time however, they also did positive things. - Philippinepresidency (talk) 02:48, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:SM City Cebu logo.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:SM City Cebu logo.png.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:41, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: With or Without You[edit]

Every time I have ever seen it spelt (Wikipedia excluded) is "With or Without You". Plus it didn't seem to fit in with any of the criteria you linked to. I suppose it is a slightly similar situation to "Sunday Bloody Sunday". The absolutely grammatically correct way of spelling it would be "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" but that is not how it is spelt by the band. MelicansMatkin (talk) 19:28, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your assistance please...[edit]

Yesterday I went through my upload log, and asked the deleting administrators to help me figure out why the images I didn't remember being discussed were deleted. I asked User:CBM about the deletion of File:Dikson - Siberia 5.png and File:Dikson - Tiksi - Siberia 3.png. I think they were suggesting I ask you.

I've uploaded a lot of maps. And I thought I had explained on each and every one of the ones I created that I created them and that I was liscensing them under the {{gfdl}} or {{cc-sa}}.

I am afraid I can't find any sign that you tried to advise me of your concerns over those images.

So, please help me by explaining why you deleted these images. Geo Swan (talk) 18:34, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm... the image was deleted back in 2005 as part of a Wikiproject to remove images without source and license information. You actually asked me in November 2007 (see User_talk:TheCoffee/Archive_3#please_help_me) about the images, and it seems I made an attempt to restore them. Unfortunately, however, image deletion was not reversible back in 2005, so it seems the images can't be recovered. TheCoffee (talk) 03:45, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I hate to bother you, but you removed the two sentences of a quote I'd inserted into the article, with the rationale that it was not a fair use of an image. That does not make sense. Did you mean that it was not fair use of text? I thought that two sentences of prose could be used fairly, almost any time. Am I wrong? Bearian (talk) 20:06, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Im gonna butt in here, the edit you link too show that hes just copyedited the sentances and removed an image.Jason Rees (talk) 20:13, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I also removed a fair use image in that edit and that's all I put in the edit summary. As for the quote, I thought it would be a better fit to just convert it to prose... the essence of the quote (that the government wasn't prepared enough) is still there. Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello TheCoffee! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 901 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Manny Villar[edit]

Poor[edit]

Other articles are claiming he comes from poor family, but its their claim and Manny Villar official site describe him as from simple / humble family, we should follow what the person himself claims and not from others as the person himself is more credible. (Bessy balubar (talk) 05:25, 7 April 2010 (UTC))[reply]

You should know that simple/humble can mean middle class or poor. This is vague statement. (Bessy balubar (talk) 03:00, 8 April 2010 (UTC))[reply]

I have added a reference where Manny Villar says he is poor. There are not six citations on that single fact. Please read Wikipedia policy on Disruptive editing. My claims are valid and you are now threatening to block me from editing ? Bessy balubar (talk) 03:04, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Response : That is why I'm using "Simple Family" instead of middle class or poor family since simple family is used by Manny Villar Official site and can mean either poor or middle class. What do you mean none of the point contradict that Villar is poor ? do you mean when both parents has work (mother is businesswoman and father is a government employee), Villar studied in private schools and they lived in San Rafael village that they are considered poor ? (Bessy balubar (talk) 07:36, 12 April 2010 (UTC))[reply]

The facts remain that Villar did not grow up poor. as stated the facts are : his father was a director of bureau of fisheries, his mother is a businesswoman, they lived at San Rafael Village (more than 500aq.m.), Villar studied at a private school therefore even Villar site does not claim him to be poor but instead uses a vague term simple/humble family. (Bessy balubar (talk) 04:48, 13 April 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Where is the source that Villar insist that he is poor? again his website does not indicate he was born from a poor family it only says simple(Bessy balubar (talk) 06:32, 14 April 2010 (UTC))[reply]

A tag has been placed on British Association of Toy Retailers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ukexpat (talk) 19:00, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MSU Interview[edit]

Dear TheCoffee,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar — Preceding unsigned comment added by 35.9.115.210 (talk) 20:12, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Provinces of the Philippines[edit]

Perhaps you remember nominating Provinces of the Philippines for featured list. Since you were the nominator, I thought I should tell you that I've nominated it for removal; the discussion is at Wikipedia:Featured list removal candidates/Provinces of the Philippines/archive1. FYI, Wikipedia received an inquiry regarding the Taal volcano. I suggested posting at the talk page, which is not very active, or contacting you, as you took the infobox picture.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 17:00, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Taal Volcano photos[edit]

In the Wiki page on Taal Volcano, one of the major photos is surely not of Taal.

 http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/a2/Taal_volcano_crater.jpg/220px-Taal_volcano_crater.jpg

At the right side, low down, you see a photo of a circular crater (lake?) in a cicular island in an oval lake. I visit Taal often and there is no such circular crater or island or oval lake. It seems like the wrong photo to me. Everything there is very jagged and irregular.

But I looked carefully, and I can see the photo has an impressive pedigree, coming from a US geological survey.

If you are able to chaeck that pedigree, i think it should stay, and I must assume that recent geological activity has totally obliterated it since 1965.

I specially loved some of the words I read about an early eruption, which sum up the Filipino people beautifully ...... "where a month ago i saw the natives sitting in their houses, on tall legs, and using a long ladder to gain entry, after the eruption i visited that same place, and was amazed to see that the natives were still in the same place, except that because of the large depth of ash from the eruption, they were now using that same ladder to descend DOWN into their house, but were nevertheless quite content to pass their days sitting there, and making no attempt to clear up the mess." Perfect!

Isabela[edit]

Hello. May i just ask where did you get the pictures on Isabela province's municipalities? Because there are a lot of differences between those you uploaded and from the map shown in the official website of Isabela Province. Thank You. jmarkfrancia (talk) 03:13, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it's been a long time since I made those and they came from difference sources, but most likely I got it from http://www.mapcentral.ph. At that site go to Geographic Search, enter the data for Region and Province and Municipality, then click Go to see the borders. TheCoffee (talk) 03:28, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay Thank you! I will have to contact them to find out if which of the two versions is the most accurate. jmarkfrancia (talk) 12:04, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
