- Sure. Big question is what would be the lead article? Maybe break off the list at One-game playoff to make List of Major League Baseball tie-breakers? The big issue is whether or not we would include the 3 game tie-breakers like Shot Heard 'Round the World or not. So something like:
Not too daunting, but the older ones will certainly be tougher. Staxringold talkcontribs 14:01, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- Sounds good. I'm gonna keep working on the modern ones from time to time for now (and I still have to get back into the Triple Crown topic w/ KV), but lemme know when you wanna do 48. Staxringold talkcontribs 18:33, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello Wizardman, the latest information I could find on image placeholders (when I looked some weeks ago) is that there is no consensus on their use. Is there a more recent or more conclusive article/guide you can direct me to? Thanks. Janggeom (talk) 05:25, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

GAN backlog elimination drive - 1 week to go
First off, on behalf of myself and my co-coordinator Wizardman, I would like to thank you for the efforts that you have made so far in this GAN backlog elimination drive. It has been nothing short of a success, and that is thanks to you. See this Signpost article about what this drive has achieved so far.
We're currently heading into the final week of the drive. At this time, if you have any GANs on review or on hold, you should be finishing off those reviews. Right now, we have more GANs on review or on hold than we do unreviewed. If you're going to start a GA review, please do so now so you can complete it by the end of the month and so that the nominator has a full 7-day window to address any concerns. See you at the finish! |

I just saw your review of Jason Jones...I want to respond to one comment you made: "Overall, the article's good despite the length issues. I don't agree with the "too much bungie" concern, because it's kinda ironic to complain about his career taking up the article."
The concern was that he owns Bungie so everything that comes out of Bungie is self-published and doesn't contribute to WP:N. ɳorɑfʈ Talk! 02:53, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 April newsletter
Round two is over, and we are down to our final 32. For anyone interested in the final standings (though not arranged by group) this page has been compiled. Congratulations to Hunter Kahn (submissions), our clear overall round winner, and to ThinkBlue (submissions) and Arsenikk (submissions), who were solidly second and third respectively. There were a good number of high scorers this round- competition was certainly tough! Round three begins tomorrow, but anything promoted after the end of round two is eligible for points. 16 contestants (eight pool leaders and eight wildcards) will progress to round four in two months- things are really starting to get competitive. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.
Judge iMatthew has retired from Wikipedia, and we wish him the best. The competition has been ticking over well with minimal need for judge intervention, so thank you to everyone making that possible. A special thank you goes to participants Stone (submissions) and White Shadows (submissions) for their help in preparing for round three. Good luck everyone! You closed an RfD with delete on Great Repeal Bill. There has recently been some media coverage of this (and much more), and it is possible that Wikipedia should have an article, and whether or not the original creation was improper or not should be irrelevant. Do you think I should create a new article, or should the redirect be undeleted and edited to create the article? Should I file a Deletion Review? If you agree to undelete or to simply allow the new article to be created, a Review should be unnecessary. Thanks. --Abd (talk) 15:06, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Rickey Henderson
- The Henderson quote about his mother is 7 words long, and is illustrative of the "buoyant, eccentric and quotable personality" described in the article introduction immediately beforehand.
- Your valid concern about padding the article with unnecessary material doesn't appear to jibe with your restoration of the following text, which verges on WP:OR: "This is the 13th highest percentage, 5th highest for an outfielder and highest for a player who primarily played left field. His percentage exceeds such luminary talents as Willie Mays, Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Roberto Clemente, Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle."
- The mention of Henderson's 7-steal game is not crucial, but it is two more stolen bases than his MLB high. It's not as if the article's "Minor leagues" section is jam-packed.208.120.153.241 (talk) 22:33, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Two of last year's final 8, Theleftorium (submissions) and Scorpion0422 (submissions), have dropped out of the competition, saying they would rather their place went to someone who will have more time on their hands than them next round. PROD deletion timing
You deleted Ross Wicks after it was up as a PROD for just under 3 hours. Was that intentional? I thought the timing was weird- IIRC the template should stay up for 7 days. I'm not asking you to restore it, just curious. tedder (talk) 00:53, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
DYK queues
What was the reason for your cutting down the current queues from 8 to 7 hooks? Main page balance is usually not an issue, and the number of candidates is not yet critical. Materialscientist (talk) 01:03, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with MS. Leave it at 8. Also, DYK stays backed up enough without shortening the number per queue. Where is the discussion on this? — Rlevse • Talk • 01:05, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- There's around 160 hooks in the queue right now, which is actually the lowest I've seen it this year. It's not a red alert, but that's breaking even on the numbers if every hook is good, and losing ground when it's not. Change it back if you really want to. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 01:08, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- IMHO we should keep the backlog as small as possible. There are 5 days in the red zone right now. I recall when I first got here a DYK hook would be on the main page in 1-2 days. Now it can take 2 weeks or more. — Rlevse • Talk • 01:10, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- Number of hooks is indeed on a lower side, but we've had around 100 recently - there is always reserve for a week or so and we'll see the trend in a few days. Materialscientist (talk) 01:13, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- The real problem is the pace of approvals, not the number of submissions. — Rlevse • Talk • 01:15, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- Which means when we make queues we just check them ourselves. I've done that for years. But anyway, let's just put it back at 8 each then until the backlog disappears entirely, which I've actually never seen happen. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 01:18, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- HEHE. Yea, I started approving and moving hooks very quickly ;-) — Rlevse • Talk • 01:21, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Grab some glory, and a barnstar
Hi, I'd like to invite you to participate in the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. In May, about 30 editors helped remove the {{copyedit}} tag from 1175 articles. The backlog is still over 7500 articles, and extends back to the beginning of 2008! We really need your help to reduce it. Copyediting just a couple articles can qualify you for a barnstar. Serious copyeditors can win prestigious and exclusive rewards. See the event page for more information. And thanks for your consideration. monosock 17:56, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
Why am I getting this message? Mono's delivery method is random, so you probably showed up somewhere Mono went. :)
- Thank you very much for (tentatively) signing up for the July Backlog Elimination Drive! The copyedit backlog stretches back two and a half years, all the way back to the beginning of 2008! We're really going to need all the help we can muster to get it down to a manageable number. We've ambitiously set a goal of clearing all of 2008 from the backlog this month. In order to do that, we're going to need more participants. Is there anyone that you can invite or ask to participate with you? If so, we're offering an award to the person who brings in the most referrals. Just notify ɳorɑfʈ Talk! or Diannaa TALK of who your referrals are. Once again, thanks for your support! Re:The Whistler Sliding Centre GA comments
Per request, I got as much done as I could for Talk:The Whistler Sliding Centre/GA1. Please see results and comments on this. As soon as I get guidance on the bobsleigh section from you and possible First Nations protest information from the contractor, I should be able to finish the review. Chris (talk) 22:05, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for the article GA. Greatly appreciated. Chris (talk) 01:40, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
Please don't take it upon yourself to determine what does and what does not need archiving on this project page. This is twice something has been archived that is clearly marked at the outset that it is an ongoing project and please do not archive. The project can determine what needs to be archived and what does not. Thank you. Wildhartlivie (talk) 10:43, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- I know at one point the talk page was set up for auto-archiving, but my guess is that the auto-archiving was removed when the extensive discussion regarding colors was begun - it extended over more than one month. It's not that your efforts are unappreciated. It's just that there are two sections on that page, one about articles needing filmographies, and another about unreferenced BLPs, that are needed to consult and also remind members who come in that these need work. It needs to be shouted into the consciousness of members so work can be done. In any case, thank you and sorry to sound ungrateful. Wildhartlivie (talk) 17:20, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
You're right, I'm sorry it has been delayed. In hindsight I picked a bad time to take on a GA review as I have been busy in real life. As I have started making notes for the review (off-wiki) it would be great if I could complete it, but I don't want it to do a disservice to the nominator by letting it drag on indefinitely. I should have some free time on Wednesday to complete it, so how about we say that if I haven't posted the full GA review by Thursday (24 June), it should be re-assigned to another reviewer? Would that be OK? Apologies once again for the delay. --Jameboy (talk) 21:13, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- At this point, I don't mind the delay since I am in the WP:CUP and have enough points to advance. I guess, I would now prefer that if it is promoted that it not happen until after June 29.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 21:55, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Lou DiMuro
In watching a video clip of Joe Rudi's one season (1981) with the Red Sox, I saw Lou working behind the plate using the inside chest protector. He hit this homerun at Fenway in May (29th?) off Rollie Fingers of the Brewers. It was the only homer he hit off the Brewers that year (he only hit 6 all year). I checked Retrosheet for the verification. I have also seen photos on AP Images of him in the 78 ALCS not using the balloon. I don't want to go in and change things that I can't give tangible references for--especially considering it is a major part of the article. Thanks for the help.
