Education

McEnany was educated at the Academy of the Holy Names,[5] a private Catholic college preparatory school for girls (co-educational up to eighth grade), in the city of Tampa in western Florida, followed by Georgetown University School of Foreign Service with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (BSFS) in International Politics, in Washington, D.C.[6] She also spent a year studying at St Edmund Hall, a constituent college of the University of Oxford,[7] in Oxford, England. McEnany studied at the University of Miami School of Law and then transferred to Harvard Law School where she received her JD degree in May 2016.[8]

Career

After graduating from Georgetown University, McEnany worked as a producer for Mike Huckabee's TV show.[9] She has interned for several politicians including Tom Gallagher, Adam Putnam, and George W. Bush, for both his 2004 campaign and in the White House Office of Communications in the Media Affairs department.[9] On CNN, she is frequently called on to defend President Donald Trump, whom she supported during the 2016 presidential election.[1][10] She announced her endorsement of Donald Trump for president on February 1, 2016.[11][12]

In February 2017, McEnany had a heated exchange with New York Times columnist Charles Blow on CNN's show, CNN Tonight with Don Lemon.[13][14][15]

Personal life

McEnany carries a mutated BRCA1 gene and underwent a double mastectomy in 2011.[16] In 2016, conservative radio host Dana Loesch caused a small controversy by mocking McEnany's appearance, including her breast size, not knowing about her mastectomy.[17]
