Revision as of 02:08, 20 March 2008

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    semi-protection - on-going vandalism on nearly a daily basis from multiple IP's. [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]. -66.109.248.114 (talk) 01:04, 20 March 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected.Carlosguitar (ready and willing) 01:27, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The page keeps being spamed by fans writing about their favorite contestants and people who take the call out order for a painting and try to put in as many colors as they can. Could you please semi-protect it. Thanks in advance.

semi-protection, Edit warring by newly registered accounts and IPs over the album cover. I suspect the IPs are socks of the accounts, and they've all broken 3RR, but writing 3RR reports is far too much effort. -- Naerii 00:10, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

semi-protect. High level of IP vandalism. Arcitle was multiple times semiprotected for short periods and once for 8 months. Altough 2008 version of list is available, this article is still target of vandalisms. I propose some longer semiprotection again. Jklamo (talk) 21:31, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Dealt with a bit of this, yesterday, but didn't realize how rampant it was. Will probably need to check back, but let's see how it goes. – Luna Santin (talk) 21:37, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

temporary semi-protection , Been subject to a lot of IP "rubbish" - violations of WP:NOR, WP:CITE, WP:RS, WP:VER, just over today! The subject of the article makes this likely to increase massively; I suggest 5 days' semi-protection and we can see how we go..TreasuryTagtc 20:49, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. About covers the current period of activity, we can revisit this then. – Luna Santin (talk) 21:18, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    - semi-protect - High vandalism from non-registered users, almost every day and sometimes several times in one day. Requesting 2 weeks of semi-protection to see if vandalism stops. Mariordo (talk) 20:23, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. That page has been semi'ed many times before, and the problem always reoccurs pretty rapidly when it expires...may have to indef-semi soon:( DMacks (talk) 20:43, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection- article which is up for AFD which has had a massive amount of unusual anon vandalism all day. AndreNatas (talk) 20:18, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 5 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Leaving a note in the AfD discussion about the semi-protection. EdJohnston (talk) 02:07, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Indefinitely blocked user Chimpywiki has returned to repeatedly vandalize this article with his sockpuppets (such as User:Drcarotenoid) and his various IP addresses. Sally Anne (talk) 20:07, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

semi-protect. High level of IP vandalism, though it seems to just be from a couple of IPs. I suspect it's from Knipp's camp himself, since the vandalism is almost always directed towards critics of his act. Stop SQLiquor (talkedits) 11:32, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. -MBK004 18:49, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(wonders out loud how much vandalism is needed on one page before the Wikipedia mods actually take action - especially considering the last bit of vandalism was just yesterday. Oh, that's right - a Wikipedia admin actually REVERTED this article BACK to its originally vandalized state. Guess that's what nepotism will do to a project... 68.24.89.242 (talk) 19:33, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

temporary full protection Dispute, There appears to be an edit war going on with this article. The parties (notably an IP) have been asked to discuss the changes that they wish to see and have not done so. There's also a violation of the 3 revert rule..Deadly∀ssassin(talk) 14:00, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fully protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. - Rjd0060 (talk) 23:31, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

temporary move protection, There appears to be a move war that has popped up recently. Please move protect while things get worked out in talk. There have currently been as much as 7 moves in the last 30 hours. Pocopocopocopoco (talk) 02:08, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Un-protection This page contains a surprising amount of false and/or skewed information, it needs to be opened so that the information may be corrected. Cat of unusual length (talk) 18:19, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Declined. Article was just protected a few hours ago, for good reason (IMO)--not going to override it until you provide evidence that you have discussed your concerns with the admin who protected it (per explicit instructions on the page here). You are free to request edits on the talk page. DMacks (talk) 20:46, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for significant edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

temporary full-protection. There has been so much discussion on whther an image should be there or not. One side has submitted image for deletation 2 times, once image stayed and second round is under going still. There is a possible compromise suggested fairly recently. Regardless one side wants to make the changes regardless. A temp protection may help both sides to cool-off and reach an agreement. Farmanesh (talk) 13:13, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Note: The requester is one revert off a 3RR whereas there are multiple reverters on the other side. It may be that there is already a consensus. Stifle (talk) (trivial vote) 13:35, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am afraid you reached a conclusion rather fast my freind. Please have a look to the talk page and moreover to the main dispute page here: [6]
If number is important for you there are more supportives of 'keep' than 'delete'. In fact the two who made the reverts are active disputents ignoring a possible compromise suggested by another user. Farmanesh (talk) 13:41, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 17:45, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Full Protection (2 weeks) banned user Cowboycaleb1 using sockpuppets to harass me via my talkpage. D.M.N. (talk) 16:18, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Semi protection should take care of the problem, as all the accounts that have left you messages were new accounts. We'll start with a week, and if the harassment persists, we can extend it later. - Rjd0060 (talk) 16:32, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

temporary semi-protection Vandalism, Semi-protection expired today. IP immediatly vandalised article.. TheProf | Talk 15:49, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. There has only been one instance of vandalism since unprotection. Lets give it a little time. - Rjd0060 (talk) 16:00, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

temporary full protection Vandalism, there has been repeated vandalism on this page today (19th March 2008) by possibly two users in tandem, using two different IP addresses..Janahan (talk) 15:07, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Since vandalism is done by non-registered users, full protection does not appear to be necessary at this point. - 52 Pickup (deal) 15:16, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

temporary full protection - constant edit warring that is doing nothing to move the article forward. Grsz 11 05:20, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protestion. Heavy IP and SPA vandalism immediately after the last eight-day protection expired. Requesting longer protection as recommended by the admin handling the previous RFPP. Ayla (talk) 09:40, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
