Loni pronunciation is a town in Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh, National Capital Region India.

Loni Assembly comes under the Ghaziabad (Lok Sabha constituency). As per the notification No. 282/UP/2006 Loni also became a separate Assembly Constituency as 53-loni.[1] Loni also has its own Independent Nagar Palika Parisad. Loni will soon be a new Tehsil in Ghaziabad[clarification needed] with its headquarters at Roopnagar Industrial Area which will comprise around 49 villages in the area.[2]

Geography

Loni is located at 28°45′N 77°17′E / 28.75°N 77.28°E / 28.75; 77.28. It has an average elevation of 283 metres (866 feet).

Loni Nagar Palika Parisad

Loni Nagar Palika Parisad was first established on 31-03-1971 as Nagar Panchayat.Its office is located in Khanna Nagar.

According to 2011 census, its population is 516,082. Its area is 34.68 square km. Loni Nagar Palika Parisad is divided into 45 wards. It has total 36 employees.[4]

Loni Tehsil

Loni also became the new Tehsil in Ghaziabad with its headquarters at Roopnagar Industrial Area which will comprise around 49 villages in the area. It belongs to Meerut Division. It is located 17 km west from District headquarters at Ghaziabad. This will be the basic administrative unit that will allow the people to raise their grievances and get them addressed quickly. Tehsil forms the grassroots administrative set up that takes care of land revenue.The order to this effect was issued by principal secretary, revenue, Kishan Singh Atoria.

Demographics

Template:As of the India census,[5] Loni had a population of 516,082. Males constitute 275,025 (52.8%) of the population and females 241,057 (47.2%). The total number of households in Loni is 89,634. Loni has an average literacy rate of 75.24%, higher than the national average of 74.04%: male literacy is 83.14%, and female literacy is 66.15%.[6] In Loni, around 15% of the population is under six years of age.

Connectivity and transport

Loni can be reached by air, road and rail. The nearest airport is the Indira Gandhi International airport which is about 35 km away. By road, Loni is well-connected on all sides to Delhi, NOIDA, Hapur, Modinagar, Bulandshahr, Meerut, Saharanpur, Haridwar, etc. A large number of people commute to Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Gurgaon every day for work.

  • Roads

Loni has a moderate transportation system connected by Delhi-Sharanpur Road through bus by DTC buses and UPSRTC buses. It is 12 km from ISBT Kashmiri Gate and Anand Vihar Terminal and 8 km from Ghaziabad, a new bus terminal for private bus operators near ALT Center, Raj Nagar which is called ALT Bus Stand. Indira Puri is DTC Bus Terminal for Delhi Buses from where DTC Route Number 273 is available. The most common system of transportation is shared autos which run between Pawi (near tronic city), Loni, Tiraha, and Indrapuri. 2 busses stand up to UP Border, Shahdara, and Seelampur metro stations. Loni Depot is a UP Bus Terminal for UPSRTC Buses from where buses are available to Shamli Baraut, bagpat, saharanpur. Gramin Sewa Rampark Ext. To Khajuri Chowk by Pusta Road Pavi tiraha To khajuri etc.paraksh model public school is also famous . shanu shop is also popular in that time. there is a new computer temple to improve technical education in loni. divyanshu sagar is an owner of computer temple

  • Rail

It is also connected through railways and its station is known as Noli which connects Loni to Delhi through Shahdara and UP i.e. Shamli and Saharanpur. Noli Railway station (NOLI) comes under NR/Northern Railway Zone of Indian Railways. Noli Railway Station handles over 26 trains daily (Up/Down) and serves about 12,000 passengers everyday. There are four trains which start/pass from Noli Railway Station. There is a warehouse of FCI (Food corporation of India) at Noli Railway station and now this place is used for Container Depot. It is also very close to New Delhi Railway station and Ghaziabad Railway Station. Its main stations are Noli (NOLI), Behta Hazipur Halt(BHHZ), Gotra Halt(GTRA) and Nursratabad Kharkhar(NTG).

  • Delhi Metro

Loni will have Metro Services soon,after third phase expansion of Delhi Metro. The DMRC has a station within Loni at Johari Enclave, which is proposed to be built on a 3 km extension of the Yamuna Vihar line to Shiv Vihar in the third phase of expansion of the Metro network. Once completed, the Johari Enclave station will cater to a large number of commuters from Loni, which has a population of at least 5 lakh people. It is also very close to Delhi just 8 km from Shahdara Metro Station and Seelampur Metro Station.

  • Airport

It is 35 km from Indira Gandhi International Airport which is the primary international airport of the National Capital Region of Delhi, India, situated in Palam. With the commencement of operations at the new Terminal 3, Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport has become India's and South Asia's largest aviation hub, with a current capacity of handling more than 46 million passengers.
