Banksy (in Melbourne, Australia)

I can assure you that I do in fact know exactly what I am talking about. Banksy = Anonymous, simple.

I have known a few artists who use the signature "Banksy", some of them even have their works regarded officially as Banksy's. I will not name anybody, that is not how being anonymous works mate. I really do not understand the problem here. I was simply trying to make your article accurate. Please see the wikipedia page on Graffiti Art In Melbourne if you doubt my story and have a think about how these two articles might be related in my experience.

Banksy is a collective pseudonym! I am not going to mess up you pretty little page but I would very much thank you to fix this factual inconsistency.

Thankyou - Banksy

Please apply Occam's Razor to this article about Banksy. There is too much speculation and conjecture and no "[citation needed]"'s - Rob

Black Squirrels in Massachusetts

I recently added Massachusetts to the list of habitats for the black squirrel page, because they span the pioneer valley area north of Springfield, and have had many sightings in Amherst. There isn't much academic documentation about it despite it being the five college area, but i could supply some photos and gps coordinates of black squirrels.

Mistake in Magick (Thelema Edits)

The page on Magick (Thelema) is very misleading and it is so misleading that it is a lie.

The writer of this page is attributing everything to Aleister Crowley and that's is not true.
The entire page needs to be transferred to the page and Magic needs to have a general and description which include the research of writers such as Albert Pike, Manly P hall, A.E.Waite, Helen Blavatsky. The only thing that can really be owned by Crowley is the addition of the letter "K" to the word. It was a great idea.

But Crowleys Magick os religous That is Thelema. Thelema and Magick are not the same per se.

Thelema is a Religous domination and the entire page is propaganda and suttle programming into Aleister Crowleys Thelema.

Thelema should not be next to the qord Magick.

I have been studying magick for over 30 years and I am not a follower of Aleister Crowley.

In fact the entire Thelema description should be transferred to the Thelema page.

Magick is much larger than Aleister Crowley and to leave it as is is actuallyvde-constructive to the entire community of Magick, as well as those who endeavor to study or research it.

As far as the other deletions, I do not understand how it is not constructive to write About how there are many definitions of what magick is. That opening line is very constructive and do not understand why that was also deleted.

P.S. I am very confused about how to change my name. I am new on here and I just cannot understand what to do. As you can see the word reverend has at in the middle of it and I need to change it. Can you help me? Revetend Michael Primus DD, PhD (talk) 12:35, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you reverse my contribution to 1017 Records?

I made changes to 1017 Records because I am an offical Bricksquad artist under Waka Flocka and there is somebody else that is making changes trying to discredit Waka Flocka and they keep removing me from Bricksquad roster.

TFA

Is Kona Lanes supposed to be protected—confirmed only, or somesuch? —ATS 🖖 talk 03:41, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

We normally protect TFAs for page moves, but not for editing. The idea behind it is to gather feedback from people coming via the main page. That said, experience tells that we rather attract vandalism than improvement, and I would support routine semiprotection of TFAs - feedback can be left on their talk pages. Materialscientist (talk) 04:12, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I fully support that idea. We can promote editing without promoting vandalism, and semiprotection would seem to serve that end. —ATS 🖖 talk 04:17, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Writing about living people...

Hi, Materialscientist. (I'm sorry if you see some errors here in my text, but English is not my first language.)

As you have seen, I modified the mayor's name of Cayey, Puerto Rico writing. I did it because the accent mark is not correct. According to the rules of our language, "Ortiz" shouldn't ever have an acute accent above the "i", because it's a stressed-on-the-last-syllable word finished at "z". Stressed-on-the-last-syllable words have accent mark only if they finish at "n", "s", or vowel, which this is not the case.

You can see this at this link: http://endata.prdecide.elnuevodia.com/alcaldes/28, or at this one too: http://www2.pr.gov/municipio/Cayey/SobreCayey/PublishingImages/Informaci%C3%B3n%20de%20Cayey%202013.pdf, a governamental document.

This is a practice that a lot of Spanish speakers wrongly do, including teachers. I would appreciate that it would be corrected, including the article title, which I didn't find the way to modify it.

Sovakiel.
Thanks, I've fixed that. Materialscientist (talk) 02:41, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(by talk page stalker) You don't. We require published, independent, and reliable sources. If we let the subjects of article dictate changes Wikipedia would become a PR firm, and we insist on being an encyclopedia. Chris Troutman (talk) 15:43, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Editing

Do I have to give a reasons for changes? Superpowerjavi2000 (talk) 00:44, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) It's called an edit summary; edit summaries are terse explanations of why particular edits were done, especially when the reasoning is not going to be self-evident. Even then, something like "fixed typo" lets other editors know what's going on. They are not mandatory, but substantive editing without edit summaries is widely regarded as suspicious in and of itself. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:26, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I am new to editing and did not realize that I needed to put my resource on the page - where does it go? When I edited the page, I did not see anything that asked for my resource. I got my facts from her book "I'm Eve". Husband #1 on the current page does not exist! I no longer have the book, so cannot do the editing. If you can restore what I edited and tell me where to list my resource, I would appreciate it.

Drakengard 3 sales

Hey man, I see that you reversed the edit i've made, i don't think i get it. In the original it is that Drakengard 3 sold 15,000 units in the first week, but when i enter the reference link it says explicitly 114,024 units in the first week, what is the logic of your edit? Cheers

D3O

Hiya can you please stop reverting my edits on D3O. I have done a lot of research on the product and I have gotten the consent of the company on my edits. Here are the reasons for my changes:

· The Silly Putty reference is completely wrong - D3O is not also known as Silly Putty and the two have no connection at all

· The phrase “The commercial material known as D3O is in essence polyurethane foam with traces of polyborodimenthylsiloxane” is far too simplistic and not really accurate. I appreciate that some of the info comes from the US Patent, but how it’s described on the article isn’t really accurate. I'd prefer to remove reference to Polyborodimethylsiloxane – for clarity and accuracy.

· The article talks of one material called D3O – which is incorrect. In reality, D3O is the company and they have more than 25 different types of material that they are using. This opening section, which you uploaded is entirely accurate: D3O is a British company specialising in impact protection and shock absorption technology. It became well known for its use of non-Newtonian liquids, particularly dilatants, which help soft and flexible materials to temporarily increase stiffness during impact. D3O® patented and proprietary technologies are now being used on more than 25 different energy-absorbing materials that are used in impact protection products.

Lambda School of Music and Fine Arts

Hi Materialscientist,

Thank you for patrolling our Lambda School of Music and Fine Arts page, and making sure no one vandalizes it. I really appreciate your kind intentions. However, the materials are actually newest essential updates of our school Lambda. As we haven't updated much of the contents for years, we are adding new updated content to the page. Please kindly allow us to maintain the content there - and do not revert the contents. Thank you.

I logged into my account to edit this time. If you have any questions, you can check content on our school website or on the web. All the information is fully substantiated. Your constant reversion prevents us from putting on meaning updates. Thank you!

Guild Wars

Hi there Materialscientist.

I edited the Guild Wars page on the genre section because there is no such genre as "CORPG". The term "CORPG" was merely a marketing term made to sell the game. As per the Wikipedia page "History of MMOs" I have termed it an MMO.

My changes to topic of Wartburg 311

Hi, Metalscientist, I based my changes, rather an expansion of the text, on my personal experience as a professional consulting automotive engineer and user of the subject vehicle. I personally examined/repaired the Warburg 311 owned in the sixties by my late father and read its original Owner's Manual, now long lost. I believe the information I provided for the benefit of expanding technical knowledge about Warburg 311 was true but I am not able to cite reliable sources. This was my first ever attempt to add to Wikipedia and if your procedures preclude unsourced additions like my attempt, by all means do not include my changes in the site. Thanks.

TomWatkins1970 and Alisonhillier1974

Hi Materialscientist. I see you only blocked TomWatkins1970 for seven days. Aren't accounts used to evade a block banned indefinitely? They clearly were registered by the IP (they have exactly the same speech pattern) to sockpuppet on the articles in question. Alisonhillier1974 is also another registered by the same IP to do the same thing. I understand the IPs can't be blocked permanently, as they are often shared, etc. Ss112 10:17, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Materialscientist, why did you remove the IPs I reported at WP:ANV without blocking any? The first (2A02:C7D:316F:6300:2421:5614:A010:7B53) I reported was the same IP who was vandalised the Steps articles, as the blocked IP I linked to also edited Bros with the same material. The registered account was another tag-teamer (Arronstevens56565). Bros also should be protected due to its recent activity, like Tears on the Dancefloor, etc. Ss112 01:36, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Stale IP" is an IP that has edited for a short period, at least few/several hours ago. There is no use reporting/blocking such IPs. Materialscientist (talk) 01:42, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There was no notice that they were stale. The account registered is clearly a sockpuppet registered by the same IP though. The same reason you blocked the two above for. Why were they not indeffed? The article also has enough disruptive activity to justify protection. Ss112 01:46, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This happened in October last year to the page as well, as the user Nqr9 told me. There is again sockpuppeting happening at the page. Ss112 01:49, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The use of multiple IPs rarely constitutes sockpuppeting; if it disruptive, request semiprotection of the target article(s) at WP:RFP. If you have reliable evidence of account-related socking, use WP:SPI. Materialscientist (talk) 01:52, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Why are you requesting that I file this at SPI when you blocked the exact same editor the other day without me needing to file a report? As I pointed out, one of the IPs they used at the Steps articles that you protected then edited Bros with the exact same info these IPs added. I know you're busy, but it is right there in the page history that they tag-teamed with this registered account (who has no other edits) and were disruptive. The account I just told you about (Arronstevens56565) has exactly the same naming scheme as the above two. Two random names with a number. They are restoring the same information to the page they were reverted for months ago. Ss112 01:57, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
At the very least, the registered account should be indefinitely blocked for the exact reason you blocked the two accounts used at the Steps articles, considering this is the same editor. I have requested the page be protected, but I also did in my report at WP:ANV, which you ignored, when the page history tells a different story. Ss112 01:58, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Explain why "the registered account should be indefinitely blocked"? Materialscientist (talk) 02:01, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I explained why multiple times. It is block evasion by the IP editor you blocked the other day for vandalising Steps articles; I know this is the same editor because as I said, they edited Bros as well as Tears on the Dancefloor. Registering accounts while blocked results in indefinite blocks, does it not? Restoring information that was removed after being blocked is also disruptive. They have tag-teamed with the two IPs to restore the same information. The account has exactly the same naming scheme as the two editors this section is titled after. This is what the IP editor does; they register accounts to back up their edits at the pages they target. Again I don't know why this requires an SPI when the editing pattern is obvious. Ss112 02:08, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Registering accounts while blocked results in indefinite blocks, does it not?" Not necessarily. But I've decoded your evidence. See Category:Wikipedia_sockpuppets_of_TomWatkins1970. Materialscientist (talk) 02:15, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. As for what you said, well, an editor is not allowed to edit while blocked, are they? Otherwise what's the point of a block? Even if they don't edit the page(s)/topic(s) they were blocked for editing, that qualifies as block evasion, doesn't it? (Or are you implying they may register the accounts, but cannot edit?) Ss112 02:21, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Tricky. No, it is not allowed to evade an IP block by registering an account, but the resulting account block is not necessarily indefinite. Further, checkusers don't connect IPs and accounts, for privacy reasons, and without CU the connecting evidence is circumstantial. The main trick is that editing via multiple IPs or via IPs and an account is not always sockpuppetry. Materialscientist (talk) 02:41, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm aware of the inability to disclose the connection between IPs and accounts, but often, they do it to themselves by registering an account to back up their own edits at an article and it's there in the page history what their IP is. It was definitely sockpuppetry at Tears on the Dancefloor, and hence why I said it was here because they are the same editor. I've still requested page protection for Bros, as the user who informed me has now reverted the vandalism and I'm sure the IP editor will be back sooner or later (even without that happening though, the recent history by the IPs and their account is enough). Dear Materialscientist

I see that you removed an edit which I made, both correcting errors on this biography and adding additional information. For example the previous article had errors in the birth date and alma mater, and had an error on and was incomplete in the education section. You say the reason for removing my corrections is lack of a citation (or citations). Please help me to put the correct information on this website.

While some of the information I provided may not have citations, it replaces erroneous material which also lacks citations. I can, however, provide evidence for my corrections, though not necessarily an internet source.

Citation checking needed

Could you help me with checking a citation? The first paragraph of Glass transition#Introduction cites the first page of DOI 10.1016/0022-3093(79)90033-4, but I'm unclear how much (if any of it) really comes from there; I can't find Ehrenfest or rigid anywhere in the article (using Ctrl+F), and skimming the whole article myself, I found nothing of 17 or seventeen except for citation #17, equation #17, etc. However, I've never even heard of this subject before today (I was pointed here in WP:RDS#Cold bouncy balls) and could very easily be misunderstanding the source. Nyttend (talk) 00:33, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'll check if I have access to this article in 24 hours. Alternatively you can email me a copy and I'll check today. Materialscientist (talk) 02:22, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Can't do that — we can't send attachments through wikimail. If you email me, however, I'll just email you directly and attach the article. Nyttend (talk) 02:55, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I know, emailed. Materialscientist (talk) 03:06, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And responded. Nyttend (talk) 03:07, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. This article does discuss the effect of composition on glass forming ability. It also mentions that viscosity may vary dramatically (referring to [30]), but does not say how much (there is some quantitative info in Fig. 7, but it is hard to convert it into real viscosity values). You won't find "rigidity" in this article (there is one instance of "rigid" though) simply because it defined the theory, the name for it came later. You won't find "Ehrenfest" or "Ehrenfest classification" there because very few scientists use this name - the fact that freezing or crystallization is a first-order transition is much too basic.
In summary, this citation is appropriate, it supports much of the paragraph, but not all its statements, such as 17 orders. Ref. [30] is very hard to get, but many books mention this fact [1]. Materialscientist (talk) 03:38, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! This is a message regarding infobox editing. I can understand that you reverted the edit back to the original form. But in animated films they use voices because that is the normal term. Rangeblock request

Hi, Materialscientist! Do you do range blocks? We have a troll changing IPs with amazing speed. Reportedly socks of User:Nate Speed. Currently attacking user talk page of NeilN, and moving to others as the original targets get protected. Sorry to bother you but you seem to be one of the few people online right now! The user jumps all over the place but the recent ones have all been in this sequence: ‪82.212.78.17, ‪82.212.78.20, ‪82.212.78.23, ‪82.212.78.22, ‎‪82.212.78.18‬. Are you able to shut this guy down at all? Thanks! --MelanieN (talk) 02:40, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind - they got blocked as a proxy. Thanks anyhow. --MelanieN (talk) 03:02, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Thank you for blocking Doubtfulcarriage. They were vandalizing articles and when I found the account and started to help in reverting their vandalism, they instead vandalized articles insulting me and saying for cluebot to ban them.

Also please note that they have appealed their ban (albeit improperly), which I do not have the power to overturn but their reasoning for appeal appears invalid and should probably be rejected. User_talk:Doubtfulcarriage --TheSandDoctor (talk) 02:31, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: Their reason they listed is as follows: "please i am important to this community i caused the biggest wikipedia massacre of may so far so please unban me and i will give u the smooch on the aSS cheek! PS: I know a lot of racial slurs :)" --TheSandDoctor (talk) 02:33, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It is Ok, I've revoked talk page access for Doubtfulcarriage. I should have blocked them much sooner, but I was offline for some time. Materialscientist (talk) 02:35, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, I am just glad that someone did. I honestly don't get why people would want to vandalize Wikipedia (as in I 'get' it but don't 'get' why), it is sad really. First vandalous account I have dealt with to actually respond to my reverts with more vandalism referring to me and (mildly) insult me - most of the time they are too focused on vandalizing pages in as great a quantity and as quickly as possible as they know they will most likely get banned. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 02:39, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

What did I do to the "List of first-level administrative country subdivisions" article?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_first-level_administrative_country_subdivisions Yeah I made one vandalism in the "list presidents of Cuba" articles because of a joke, but this other one, "list of first level countries subdivisions", was a legit contribution, how not? What the hell did I do wrong? I just added Brazilian states... I see nothing wrong. Dude it took me like two hours to add those brazilian States and make this contribution to wikipedia, at least tell me what I did wrong in this article.

See, I vandalised this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:AbuseLog&wpSearchUser=Wellington_P_F_de_lima . While this other one was a completely legit edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_first-level_administrative_country_subdivisions , I don't get it.

Another MariaJaydHicky sock

Hi Materialscientist. I reported the user Brattyjacqui at ANV yesterday as it's quite clear they're a sockpuppet of MariaJaydHicky/Masheenya (talk · contribs), who you recently blocked. They registered the same day Masheenya was blocked, and their only edits are to pick and choose genres like MariaJaydHicky/Masheenya did on Cher Lloyd album articles (one of their favourite topics) and Strength of a Woman (album) (also an article Masheenya edited before being blocked). Masheenya also used the AllMusic sidebar as a source despite being told per WP:ALBUMAVOID it should be avoided; Brattyjacqui has done this again. I don't think it's coincidence their only edits are of the same pattern to the same pages. I was told to take it to SPI but this is the same pattern that had Masheenya blocked without an SPI as well. If you think it's not an evident behavioural pattern, I will monitor them, but I'm quite sure they will come back and/or edit war. Ss112 04:02, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Problem of protection in Sudan article and Freedom of editing

Hi Materialscientist, I noticed you in the few days ago you had blocked me for a stupid reason, before you do something listen well It doesn't means that people want to edit you delete there edit or block them or a non-clear reason. If there is any mistake my advice for you is to tell the people the mistake they have done but, it it have been so, clear that you don't respect people's thought's or their ideas or suggestions. Why don't you at least send for this user 011nyegagh a sandbox he had deleted Arabic Language form the Quick Facts Box in Sudan article and, his talk page is full of waring massages he had been blocked for a several times. It means you want only to prevent me from editing but, other people no you don't care about them, because when I do a mistake instead of that you block me and, I want to say for you there is no reason for protecting the article, because the time is not good for doing this something. The article is missing important sections like: Health care, Tourism, Culture and Cusine and they should be added after they added you can protect the article as you want but, not this time. I'd want to say for you have a great day and I whish for you the best in your life. I have given reason of revert in the "Comment" section.

Hello Material Scientist, I have given reason for removing the content of "Tandon" in wikipedia. The article there seems to suggest that Tandons in Nepal are not real Tandons and Tandon is a Punjabi Name. Well - keep Tandon is Punjabi. But dont spread falsehood like "Nepali khas/chettris use Tandon Surname". They dont use Tandon surname. They are Tandons and it is their Surname. THis is hurting the sentiment of millions of Tandons in Nepal.

You seem to be overzealous in spreading the falsehood. Few days ago, to keep wikipedia uptodate, i edited the article of 3 IGPs (Inspector General Of Polic) of Nepal who were convicted by Supreme court of Nepal on 30th of April.

https://thehimalayantimes.com/kathmandu/supreme-court-convicts-three-igs-nepal-police-sudan-scam/ These convicted IGPs had caused massive loss to the ordinary citizens and had abused their power.

But you effortlessly reverted it even withoug doing proper research. Please follow the link above and update the article.

Dizzy Goo Goo Dolls

You said I did not provide a reliable source. This is because the reliable source was provided by the person who erroneously posted "108" as a Billboard Hot 100 rank

If you read the Billboard Hot 100 website, never in it's history has it had more than 100 songs as part of it's Hot 100 chart. Many people mistakenly post a song that ranks 1st on the Bubbling Under chart as a Hot 100 rank of 101. If you read the bubbling under chart, however, ranking 1st (or in this case 8th) on the Bubbling Under chart is not the same as being the 101st place song. The way the bubbling under works is simple. It is literally the songs closest to hitting the hot 100 that have not yet hit the hot 100. This is an important distinction. What this means is a song ranking 1st on the Bubbling under chart could be 101st, but it could also be 102nd, or 110th. There's no way to know. A song that falls out of the hot 100 is not eligible for bubbling under rank, meaning there could be any number of previously charted songs inbetween 100th and 1st on the bubbling under. This is why I made that change, and make that change on any page that posts it. I do this because it is incorrect. Here is the entirety of the Goo Goo Dolls Billboard chart history: http://www.billboard.com/artist/411330/goo-goo-dolls/chart You'll notice selecting Hot 100 does not contain Dizzy-it wasn't a Hot 100 song. The source the person who posted "108" provided clearly shows bubbling under as the chart. I really wish people would understand the distinction. The Bubbling Under chart is NOT a mere extension of the Hot 100, it is a chart meant to showcase new songs that are close to charting but not quite there.

Before you read this, know I greatly respect what you do for the Wikipedia project, and your fights against vandalism. 200 Years Together is an important factual, proven history book which directly describes the motivation behind Jews who were the leading force in the communist Bolshevik Revolution who commited genocide on the Christian population in Czarist Russia. That "act" is called Red Terror, i'm pretty sure you're much familiar with it because it's in every history book. Censoring obvious history will do you no good because just a sheere look at the history archives can prove you othervise. All those communist had names identities and most important religion, and most of them about 85% arent ethnic Russian nor Christian.

To tell this men, why this custom of reversing editions obviously valid?; as this, made by me. Yes it is supposed that when reversing false editions disruptive or speculative should at least revertilas until a valid edition, whether it be IP or not... HI MATERIALSCIENTIST

I AM CONCERNED THAT YOU ARE NOT CONTESTING MY EDITS TO THE PAGE "DANCE THERAPY" AS IT'S POORLY WRITTEN AND FULL OF MISTAKES. BY THE WAY, WHO WROTE IT? WHAT WERE THEIR CREDENTIALS? I AM AN EXPERT IN BOTH SCIENCE (PHD IN BIOLOGY/NEUROSCIENCE) AND DANCE MOVEMENT THERAPY (CLINICAL LICENSE), SO MAYBE I UNDERSTAND SOMETHING ABOUT THIS FIELD THAT YOU ARE NOT AWARE OF.

I WONDER WHY YOU DEFINE MY EDITS "PROMOTIONAL". PLEASE EXPLAIN. THIS PAGE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO WIKIPEDIA.

I WANT TO KNOW HOW I CAN EDIT THIS PAGE AND HAVE IT REVIEWED BY SOMEONE WHO COULD PROVIDE AN INFORMED OPINION. TO DEFINE SOMETHING MORE PROPERLY/ WITH A BETTER LANGUAGE IS NOT PROMOTION. I EXPECT YOUR RESPONSE.

BEST CECILIA

poorly written

IT IS TRUE THAT YOU ARE FLOODED BY POOLY WRITTEN INFORMATION, THE "DANCE THERAPY" PAGE IS AN EXAMPLE. I ALWAYS KNEW THAT WIKIPEDIA WAS A PUBLIC CONTAINER FOR SHARED INFORMATION. IN THIS CONTEXT, I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE "DANCE THERAPY" PAGE WAS WRITTEN BY A COMPETENT PERSON. IT IS PUZZLING TO ME THAT YOU ARE STILL PUBLISHING IT. I WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO TAKE THE PAGE DOWN. IT IS A SOURCE OF MISINFORMATION - WHICH MAY BE AGAINST YOUR INTEREST. IT SOUND LIKE YOU DO NOT TRUST MY CONTRIBUTION FOR SOME REASON, THAT YOU DO NOT FIND IT APPROPRIATE FOR WIKIPEDIA. AS A NEUROSCIENTIST, BIOLOGIST AND DANCE THERAPIST I MAY NOT WRITING ABOUT ASTRONOMY OR IMPRESSIONIST ART - AS I WOULD MAKE A DISSERVICE TO HUMANITY. I AM WRITING ABOUT DANCE THERAPY - WHICH IS WHAT I KNOW THE BEST. I WONDER HOW THIS COULD BE WORST THAN WRITING "A typical DMT session has four main stages: preparation, incubation, illumination, and evaluation" WHICH IS SIMPLY WRONG - DEAD WRONG - I DON'T KNOW WHERE SOMEONE GOT THAT FROM. OH, WAIT, THERE IS A QUOTE! THE Journal of Chemical Education....REALLY?!? IT'S SIMPLY UNBELIEVABLE. THAT'S HOW BAD THAT PAGE IS. IT IS A DISSERVICE TO A WORLD-WIDE COMMUNITY. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CFontanesi (talkcontribs) 02:38, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations...

Your reversion of the edit to King Kaufman has made the page less accurate. Well done!

Why don't you use some common sense? Is it likely that edit was vandalism? What would be the point? Meanwhile, what "source" do you want for a job change? It's not like he New York Times writes a story when B/R changes staffers.

Given that @Materialscientist: added a reference (much needed, given all the citations which are missing) and altered the article grammatically so that it better complies with the Manual of Style, I fail to understand your complaint, @172.113.233.13:. And he never specified that your edit was vandalism, but rather felt (accurately), that the previous edition of the article was superior. Stormy clouds (talk) 15:25, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, yeah. Inaccurate is VASTLY superior to accurate. --172.113.233.13 (talk) 17:03, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The snark is unnecessary. A verified set of statements in a BLP is better than an unverified set of statements. If you can verify the change you made, then do so--but you can do so without removing a reference. Drmies (talk) 17:06, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sting article editing

I made edits to the article about sting These edits were already in the article but they were not formatted properly It was supposed to be an infoxbox but it was not so I formatted it properly. I did not add any new information

Using STiki responsibly on the Right-hand_rule article editing

My edit on Right-hand_rule:

The screw rule can also be memorized in another way by the phrase "righty tighty, lefty loosy". Where turning right is clockwise (start at top) and left is counter-clockwise. Imagine you are screwing a screw into a wood plane (tight) or out of plane (loose). Don't confuse it with turning vector I to B e.g. to get the direction of the Lorentz force where the same principle can be applied.

Wikipedia:STiki#Using_STiki:

Innocent: If an edit is primarily constructive and not vandalism, it should be labeled as Innocent. This does not mean the edit must be perfect in nature. Indeed, STiki is anti-vandal focused and cannot remedy many issues, which should be handled outside the tool (using the provided hyperlinks).

I think the above certainly applies. This is VERY constructive as it helped me as high school student to finally understand what this overcomplicated right-hand rule was all about (to whom this article will mostly be of interest anyway). Namely, just a convention to define the 3 axis x,y,z system strictly... You, so easily, simply reverting this makes me not want to contribute to wikipedia at all, as it is wasting my limited time as an academic. Please consider editing to your opinion over misusing STiki to delete non-vandalism (but non-perfect) edits in the future!

Korea was a tributary state of China until 1895 after the Sino-Japanese War, Goguryeo was a Chinese tributary state kingdom and NOT an "empire"

Some Korean nationalists are trying to sugar coat and rewrite history with their pseudo-Korean nationalist propaganda on the South Korea, Goguryeo and other Korean pages. These nationalists are trying to make the false and exaggerated claim that Goguryeo was a "powerful empire" when it was just a tributary state kingdom of China. The historical reality, based on all reliable sources, specifically state that Goguryeo was a Chinese tributary state and Korea was a tributary state of China from thousands of years ago all the way until the year 1895 when China was defeated in the Sino-Japanese war. And it is a fact that only then in 1895 did Korea gain independence from China only until they were conquered again by the Imperial Japanese, which they remained until 1945 after the Imperial Japanese were defeated and surrendered to the Allied Forces, then and only then did Korea finally become independent again. Additionally, the Korean pages contain alot of puffed up exaggerations about the accomplishments and "power" of Korea etc. and this needs to be dealt with as they are definitely NOT historically accurate edits but are instead nothing more than extremist Korean nationalist, and in some cases Korean supremacist, propaganda being spread by some nationalists who are trying to make Korea look superior to everyone else. Not based on historical reality, sorry to say that but it's true! Please keep all articles based on historical reality and NOT on Korean nationalist/supremacist propaganda, we have enough of that already and it's getting really bad on Wikipedia! Korea was indisputably a tributary state of China until the late Qing dynasty in 1895 following China's defeat in the Sino-Japanese war of 1894-1895, please read these sources:

Stefanie Martini

Hello there

Thanks for the message on my addition to the page about actress Stefanie Martini, concerning her full name. I'm not too hot on sourcing things, but my source is the website Genes Reunited, which lists the birth records of most people in the UK and reveals that her middle name is Louise:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/search/results?sourcecategory=birthsutf002c%20marriages%20utf0026%20deaths&collection=births%20utf0026%20baptisms&firstname=stefanie&firstname_variants=true&lastname=martini&region=great%20britain

I'm not sure if this is a good enough source, it's the best one I have. I felt that it was important to have her full name listed on the article, because until recently her full name was falsely listed as Lorna Michelle Stefanie Martini (the edit history actually appears that this was removed by the actress herself). Though that has been removed, searching those terms online reveals that other websites have reported her to have that name. Presumably this was gained through it being written on Wikipedia, as many people use Wikipedia as a source. So to avoid confusion, I thought it should be made clear on her page that it's Stefanie Louise Martini. 82.38.57.190 (talk) 11:03, 11 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

regarding the FREE 6BLACK page, I changed the name of the composer/producer because it is incorrect. His name is Yinka Bankole-Ojo not Aya Bankole-Ojo. FWDSLXSH is his producer name.

Why delete my facts based on my own 50 + years of personal experience?

Regarding your deletion of my recent contribution to Redox because I don't cite anybody else:

My contribution was based on my 50 + years of my own personal experience as an audio-visual engineer with the Redox (Oxidation) effects and issues on electrical and electronic equipment, and the connectors between them, unless the connectors were gold plated.

Why do I need to find anybody else (who exists at some "official" level) who has had the same experiences and "cite" them when I have my own real-world experience to rely on as accurate?

Is not my 50 + years of real-world expertise in this particular matter not enough to include my contribution so that others can benefit from the information I volunteered?

Who are you to censor everybody else?

What makes you so "official" that you're better at deciding the content of Wikipedia entries over the rest of us?

Do you directly work for Wikipedia on their payroll?

Are you the only physicist working for Wikipedia and no other physics information is valid unless you approve it?

If you need some kind of "citation" to my entry, and you're so much more experienced than me, why don't YOU find a citation and then ADD it to my entry instead of just deleting my entry?

These are sincere questions.

Wikipedia is written using published reliable sources, not any editor's experience, knowledge, or opinion. Wikipedia articles should be based on reliable, published sources, making sure that all majority and significant minority views that have appeared in those sources are covered (see Wikipedia:Neutral point of view). If no reliable sources can be found on a topic, Wikipedia should not have an article on it. --Kansas Bear (talk) 20:23, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dye laser

Hi Materialscientist,

Just a heads-up. Within the past month a person consisting of a couple different IP addresses and a User account has been doing some strange test edits to the Dye laser page. It's strange because they often (but not always) revert themselves after the test, so I'm loathe to call it vandalism, but it seems to be becoming a regular thing. A question

Hi,
I have realised you are very fast regarding blocking the users who vandalise wikipedia. Sometimes, it seemed like you blocked a user almost exactly (or even before) the user was reported to AIV. I was wondering, how come you are so fast? It would be appriciated a lt if you share it, and no problem at all if you dont want to. :-) —usernamekiran(talk) 00:39, 18 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I don't patrol WP:AIV board much these months, and often track vandalism via edit filter logs or watchlist. By observation I know that some other admins follow the same route, and thus block users/IPs shortly before they have been reported. Materialscientist (talk) 01:21, 18 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dysprosium edits

Hi Materialscientist,

I do not understand why you would undo my edits to the Dysprosium article.

First, I am a radiologist. The website MR-tip.com is well regarded in my field as a reliable source of information. Why do you consider it to be not fitting of an encyclopedia?

Secondly, the use of Dysprosium as an MRI contrast agent is well described in the medical literature. Do a pubmed search for "Dysprosium MRI contrast" yourself if you do not believe me. The current wikipedia article makes no mention of this novel and important use. Why would you remove reference to this, even if you do not like my source?

Lastly, to start off the "Applications" section by stating that there are "not many" applications, and then to go on to describe in eight paragraphs the various applications is poor form stylistically. What difference does it make if one person considers the number of applications listed to be "not many" or "many"? At best, this is needles editorializing. At worst, it is a commercial plug for Theodore Gray's book.

source citation & referencing

Hi Materialscientist, I cannot provide independent verification regarding the article I have written as this information does not exist in any published form yet (this is the point of my creating this page). I can assure you all the information is accurate but I'm not sure how I am required to prove it. I'm not sure how to prove the existence of a music group....... Can you please advise how I can reference it so the page may exist? Oneblindmouse (talk) 17:11, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your diligence. I am fairly new to Wikipedia editing.- I am Jonathan Barnbrook. the subject of the page. So i was just making the text a bit clearer. If you can let me know where i need to cite something in the text that would be appreciated.

(talk page stalker) @86.138.114.149: You may want to read Wikipedia:Autobiography, but the essence is that it is strongly discouraged. You may want to leave a note on the article's talk page to request that the information is added by another editor with no WP:COI. You may want to participate in the Wikipedia Adventure to learn how to edit. Nicnote • ask me a question • contributions 00:16, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

FYROM

United Nations officially recognizes FYROM as the country and all lists related to United Nations should be referring to that name. So get your facts straight before undoing edits. Once you do your research and confirm this, can you update all the UN lists with the officially recognized name? Probably a lot easier for you. Thanks.

See WP:FYROM. Wikipedia does not have to follow UN conventions. Materialscientist (talk) 02:58, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article states the following: "with common sense, and occasional exceptions" So I would argue the exception are the following: Direct references from the UN which came up with this name and direct references from Greek related articles which considers this an insult. Please use use your common sense and follow up with those WIKI editors who wrote that page if you need to.

There are two sides in this dispute, and both consider the use or omission of FYROM as an insult. Hence we follow our guidelines. Exceptions are exceptions, you edited a general case. Materialscientist (talk) 03:38, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Can you agree then that a page about Greek diplomatic missions would be a good excpeption? This is the name used by the diplomatic mission.

Sorry, I disagree, and even if I didn't, the Wikipedia guidelines are meant for all editors. Materialscientist (talk) 04:19, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If am I doing anything wrong, please inform me. The video which I used as a citation which is the secret of the dark side of the Moon has the detail that earth had once 2 moons. Please be patient and see the entire video which is only for 4 minutes, not a hour. The reference which I used - dailymail.co.uk also has the proof that Earth had 2 moons during 4.5 BYA. You are deleting my article along with the video or telling that don't use daily mail.co.uk as a reference or deleting my article if I don't have reference. Then how can I write an article. Since you have deleted my Moon article, I am writing again and putting the same video as a reference. So please see the video patiently. Cyanobacteria

The page on cyanobacteria currently uses the made-up word "evolutionise" along with some seemingly irrelevant bit about soil and water. I've tried twice now to adjust it to use actual English words, by restating phrases from barely a paragraph earlier in the same article, but both times this has been reverted (by two different users, no less). Am I doing something wrong?

Hi, I see you have removed an update, have I done something wrong? I added the gig playing info after Johnny Stoj, the band themselves, the other bands they play with, Battlegod productions (promoter) had advertised gigs up the East coast and there have been numerous facebook posts, pictures, video by many people regarding the band playing several Interstate shows. Not just "low key shows around Melbourne" as previously shown in the article. Also Johnny Stoj has spoken publicly and posted regarding writing new material that Pegazus are working on, with possible recording later this year (2017). What is required to leave this info on the Pegazus article? Cheers.

User (editor) issue

Hi Materialscientist, just alerting you to what seems a mistaken identity on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BHP_Billiton There may (or may not) be some BHP person who user 59.100.82.154 (who you have blocked for abusing editing privileges) mistook me for, but I have no connection with BHP and my edits were of the normal type; improvements to the article, notable, encyclopaedic, third party referenced. I updated the page relating to Bush Blitz, an Australian Government science program BHP contribute to, and subsequently noticed the page generally was out of date and not particularly coherent. So I did some revision-updates based on newspaper reports. Didn't expect to be accused of being a BHP plant!Robertwhyteus (talk) 12:17, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted edits on an article about myself

Hello, I tried to edit an article that was written about myself. I tried to update some facts (my birthday was wrong) I was born July 22 1994 so I deleted the year "1987" and I can no longer access my YouTube channel or blog that is listed in the references. I was hacked, and stalked which was investigated by Bergen county prosecutors. I no longer have access to those sites So I tried to to add my new website. It was all reverted back. Sorry I am new to this Wikipedia stuff. Can we fix this? Thanks so much. K.lynne (talk) 02:11, 27 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Usually if you have to revert someone's edit, especially if he/she is new, it's best to leave a message on his/her talk so he/she knows what's going on. Otherwise a person may be oblivious or think it's a kind of bug. WhisperToMe (talk) 22:45, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
