Re: Section on "funeral & tributes"
"Internment" needs to be changed to "interment". These two words have different meanings and interment is the correct word.
Funeral and tributes Governor Ron DeSantis said flags in the state of Florida, Limbaugh's home state, will be lowered to half-staff on the date of his internment.[284] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:FEA8:560:4D7:B025:2D17:24A1:E60E (talk) 00:30, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

Broken chart
The first chart on Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/United States medical cases/Michigan broke when the data for February 13 was added. I can't find a fix or even duplicate it with other data sets. Anyone know of a solution. With the unusual numbers generated for the x axis I am guessing it has something to do with the way the chart generates the dates. Rmhermen (talk) 05:46, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Fixed by changing year 3021 to 2021.[1]. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:41, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- The wrong year was added by TomCat4680 in [2] but wasn't used in the output until [3] because the data is mismatched. There are currently 343 x values but only 331 y values so the 12 last x values are ignored. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:09, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- My mistake. Thanks for figuring it out. TomCat4680 (talk) 21:50, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- @TomCat4680: I fixed the year but not the mismatch. There are still 12 more dates than case counts so the last 12 dates are ignored, and I guess many of the case counts are shown at a wrong date but haven't examined it. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:14, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @PrimeHunter: Yes and it says 2021 instead of January. I have no idea why. I didn't make the chart itself, I just keep it updated. Maybe it has something to do with the fact Michigan doesn't release stats on Sundays (they haven't since
Memorial DayLabor Day) or major holidays (and the day before a few of them) though? I guess that'd be way more than 12 entries, but just an idea. TomCat4680 (talk) 10:09, 21 February 2021 (UTC)- @TomCat4680: You guessed right. Rmhermen added 12 Sundays from Sep 6 2020 to Nov 22 2020 in [4] without corresponding case counts. The same was done in the deaths graph. It was hard to spot because the diff is poor and it was done in the middle of the dates. I have fixed both graphs.[5][6] The deaths graph still had one more date than count. I fixed it in [7] after slowly tracking it down to another page the data was copied from. PrimeHunter (talk) 15:05, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @PrimeHunter: Great! Good work! Thanks for the help! TomCat4680 (talk) 15:15, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @PrimeHunter: Why'd you delete June 10's deaths? BTW, I mistakenly said they stopped reporting results on Sundays starting on Memorial Day earlier, but I checked and it was actually Labor Day (September 9), so June 10's death results were reported. [8]. TomCat4680 (talk) 15:27, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @TomCat4680: I only deleted a date, not deaths. My edit summary explains it:
- "remove Jun 10 2020 from deaths graph, was copied from COVID-19 pandemic in Michigan where it was added in Special:Diff/961855853 without a corresponding death count"
- I spent a long time tracking down the mismatched date and didn't want to spend more time looking for a death count. PrimeHunter (talk) 15:38, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @PrimeHunter: There's sources for every single day since the pandemic reached Michigan (March 10) on the table at the bottom of the page. June 10 had 13 new deaths and there was 5,711 total deaths then per the link I added above. TomCat4680 (talk) 15:42, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @TomCat4680: Then just add the date and count. I only worked to fix the graphs. PrimeHunter (talk) 16:03, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @PrimeHunter: Already did. I don't see any other missing dates either so problem solved. TomCat4680 (talk) 16:05, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

Warning alert
Hi, today I was warned that if I continued to cancel the AfD alert I would be blocked. I do mea culpa. But my question is this: "If I received another such warning but on another subject would I be blocked?" Dr Salvus (talk) 17:50, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Dr Salvus The warning says "You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove an Articles for deletion notice", not "You will be blocked". It is up to an administrator to decide whether a block is needed, based on the Wikipedia:Blocking policy. The block would be based on editing behaviour not simply on the basis of receiving a certain number of warnings. TSventon (talk) 18:11, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- @TSventon: Ok thanks, now I feel calmer. Dr Salvus (talk) 18:14, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
Warn Alert 2
Hi. Today I received (quite rightly) a warning that if I continued of delete the AfD alert I would be banned. I have made more than 2,300 edits to this encyclopedia all in good faith and when I'm wrong I always apologize. I would like to know if such a warning could harm a user? I ask you because since I received this notice I started to be afraid of editing Wikipedia as I always had before the warning. Dr Salvus (talk) 17:56, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

Minimum age
What is the minimum age to be a Wikipedian? I ask for a friend Dr Salvus (talk) 18:26, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Dr Salvus: There is none. But young readers and their parents should read WP:YOUNG, and additionally for parents there is Wikipedia:Advice_for_parents RudolfRed (talk) 18:32, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- @RudolfRed: If a user is a minor, must this be declared? Dr Salvus (talk) 18:54, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- A minor, or a dog, may edit without mentioning the fact. A robot must, I think, declare that is one, and give the username of its controller. Maproom (talk) 19:25, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- It's probably better that a minor doesn't disclose it, given how dodgy some people on the internet can be.PrincessPersnickety (talk) 19:35, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

- @Dr Salvus: A minor is not required to declare that they are a minor, and in fact, it's probably a good idea that they not tell people they are a minor or reveal their age. They should, however, read WP:YOUNG as RudolfRed describes. 331dot (talk) 00:58, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- If they are a dog however, probably a good idea to declare it somewhere. -Roxy the grumpy dog. wooF 22:55, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
Creating a new page

Sandbox draft
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Fifitrixibell/sandbox
I have just added my first article to Wikipedia on the page above and I obviously missed the section on headings as it has called it my Sandbox address. Cant now work out how to get back to change the header. Can you help? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fifitrixibell (talk • contribs) 20:48, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Fifitrixibell: Hello, what you done is create a draft in your sandbox which although not ideal is an acceptable place to start working on a topic. However, the draft as it stands would not be accepted into the encyclopedia. Please review the guide to article creation and the notability guidelines at WP:NMUSIC. The draft contains no proper references which are required both for verification and to establish notability. Please see WP:REFB for how to add these. External links are not permitted within the content; perhaps some of these could be converted into references... Titles of pages are changed by moving the page to a new location. This can be found via the 'more' tab at the top of the page but will not be available to you until your account is at least 4 days old and you have made at least 10 valid edits. Some useful links will be left at your talk page. Please study them carefully. Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (

). Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 21:20, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
Hello
Hello Wikipedia. What can I do if someone is reverting things with no reason and I think that it is a hate for the specific topic that I discuss? For example the same guy has tried to mess around with other people too (as far as I see) with the same subject or whatever. Can I just report him? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Holloman123 (talk • contribs) 21:27, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Holloman123 Please engage the other editor in discussion on the article talk page, and please assume good faith and not that others are acting out of hatred. For example, if you feel an article needs to specifically call out that some wonders are Greek, please make a logical case for doing so, preferably based in Wikipedia guidelines. 331dot (talk) 21:41, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- And be aware that if you report other editors it could rebound back on you. 331dot (talk) 21:43, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
Ok sir I talked to him on talk page I'm waiting for response, thanks for your reply tho, have a nice day you and your family :^) User talk:Holloman123 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Holloman123 (talk • contribs) 21:43, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

Editing a page that is currently protected so that only extended confirmed users and administrators can edit it
Hello Help Desk,
I would like to update this page as it is out of date - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children_of_Peace
However, I am unable to as it has been protected and there is a reference to 'extended confirmed access'
In the History Page it says:

The user mou89p43twvqcvm8ut9w3 doesn't seem to exist and I don't know who to go to in order to get this changed.
Many thanks, Clare Bolt (Iamclarebolt) --Iamclarebolt (talk) 23:28, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

Talk:Confucius archiving unsigned/dated comments
I recently set up automatic archiving on Talk:Confucius; quite a few comments have not been archived due to missing signatures. I'm not thrilled about having to search through many years of the edit history to find who these people were to fill out the parameters in a template like {{Unsigned}}—is there an easier way to do this? - @Aza24: I'm working on adding {{Unsigned}} for you. I find User:Anomie/unsignedhelper to be helpful, but not perfect, so I confirm its suggestions with the page history to confirm before saving. When that doesn't work, I try WikiBlame instead. GoingBatty (talk) 03:48, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Aza24: You could also consider using User:Technical 13/Scripts/OneClickArchiver. GoingBatty (talk) 04:01, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

Procedure for Asking About Provenance of a Photograph in an Article
I have a question about a photograph of an actor that is included in an article. (Well, it is included in two versions of the article, one in draft space and one in article space, but that is a detail.) The picture is in Commons and is labeled as Own Work by the uploader, who is the same as the author of the article. The picture is a casual pose that appears to have been taken under friendly circumstances. There isn't any problem as far as the picture being in Commons. The problem is that there may be a conflict of interest, which is a matter of English Wikipedia policies, not of Commons policies. What is the procedure for asking a question about how the author came to take the picture and upload it? Robert McClenon (talk) 01:23, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Robert McClenon: Post a message on their talk page asking if they have a conflict, and if they do that they need to comply with WP:COI. If that fails, then I think the next step is WP:COIN. As usual, it would help if you would say what article or photos you are concerned with. Otherwise, only general advice can be given, instead of advice that might apply to the particular situation you are concerned about. RudolfRed (talk) 02:03, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- I left out the name of the article on purpose because I wanted general advice. The photo is the photo at Praveen Tej and Draft:Praveen Tej. There is nothing wrong with the photo, and nothing wrong with its use, except that we have neutral point of view and conflict of interest guidelines, and neutral point of view is the second pillar of Wikipedia. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:12, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- Sometimes the conflict of interest noticeboard works well at dealing with conflict of interest, and sometimes it doesn't. This month it doesn't. I tried to use it recently and the result was a personal attack. Sometimes it works well; sometimes it doesn't work so well. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:12, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for the reply. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:13, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Robert McClenon: I think that we usually consider a picture to be self-documenting and not subject to bias, so the COI issue here is not about the picture, unless you think the person in the picture is not the one claimed by the uploader. However, there is a COI issue about the article itself. Basically, you feel that the nature of the picture raises a possibility that the editor knows the subject. You should ask the editor if there is a COI and ask the editor to declare the COI. -Arch dude (talk) 02:39, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you, User:Arch dude, for explaining what I was trying to say. My issue isn't about the picture itself but about the presence of the picture in the article. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:58, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Robert McClenon: Adding it to the article doesn't bother me, but I'm just one editor. What bothers me is that you said the same editor was the (main?) author of the article. -Arch dude (talk) 03:02, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- Right. It would be different if the article already existed and the subject's friend added the photo. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:14, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

- @Byron Nemeth: The deletion discussion is at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Byron Nemeth. When notability is questioned, it is up to those who wish to retain the article to find reliable sources. It is not up to those who wish to delete the article. The truth of the article is not in question. The notability of the subject is in question. Note the comment during the discussion that your career started before the Internet was such a big deal, so you (or someone) may know of non-internet sources (books, magazines, newspaper articles) that the deleters did not find. If so, please point them out. -Arch dude (talk) 01:41, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Byron Nemeth: What Arch dude said. Read the deletion discussion, then, if you'd like to try to make the article acceptable, read Help:My article got nominated for deletion! You can then ask to have the article brought back as a WP:DRAFT, take your time to work on it (no rush) and then you can submit it for review. If you want to attempt this (there's no guarantee you will succeed, it depends on what sources there are), you should also read WP:COI, WP:BLP and WP:NMUSIC. If you ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Musicians and/or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Guitarists, there may be editors who are interested in helping you to some extent. - It's not the usual style and I don't think articles should have links like that outside relevant TEMPLATE:Ill:s. That said, I don't know if there's a guideline or MOS-page that advice against it. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:51, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- Aquatic Ambiance, it doesn't seem there's any policy against it; the shortcut WP:ILL leads to Help:Interlanguage links. Of course, if there are English counterparts for those articles those should be replaced. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 16:53, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

- Katie Jacholke The type of organization is irrelevant (keep in mind that this is a global website with many people unfamiliar with the US tax code) as nonprofits are treated no differently than for profits. If as you say the organization is not written about in independent reliable sources with significant coverage, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable organization, it would not merit an article at this time.
- Please understand that Wikipedia is not a place for organizations to tell the world about themselves. Wikipedia is only interested in what others completely unconnected with an organization say about it. If you are affiliated with this organization, please read about conflict of interest and paid editing for information on required formal disclosures. 331dot (talk) 13:49, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
Copying Wikipedia information
I am confused by CC-BY-SA/GFDL and the copyright information. I want to copy and paste from the site for personal use (family), including some pictures. I will be using citations. Is this allowed? 207.136.208.194 (talk) 13:46, 21 February 2021 (UTC) 207.136.208.194 (talk) 13:55, 21 February 2021 (UTC)Ruth
- The advice for this is at WP:Copyrights#Reusers'_rights_and_obligations. For personal use, there should be no problems. For use in self-published work, then attribute to Wikipedia as described on the advice page: basically you use a URL to link back to where you got the information from. Mike Turnbull (talk) 14:58, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- Even for personal use, it's best to go ahead and attribute to Wikipedia. It's not very hard and it's a good habit it get into. If your use will only be paper/printed, just add one piece of paper with the Wikipedia URLs. If your use is on your computer or on a web site, just add the URLs in an inconspicuous place that does not interfere with the aesthetics. This will vary depending on the layout. This is the more important situation, since if it's on computer somewhere, someone else may eventually copy it and fail to attribute it. -Arch dude (talk) 18:21, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
Submitting A Draft
Hello. I just wanted to know how do u submit a draft cause I’ve created a page which i would really like to submit but I have no idea on how to submit it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Flash Lloyd (talk • contribs) 17:45, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Flash Lloyd: It's strongly recommended that you read Help:Your first article first. It's very hard for new editors to write good articles. If this is about Draft:Bella Poarch, you'll need more independent sourcing. Twitter doesn't work. (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this:

Content monitor dispute leading to a dubious act
Without getting into too much detail, I recently "had it out" with content monitors on the WWII page. They deleted my edits, my talk comments (which were not vulgar) and one went on my personal talk page (which I have since abandoned) and accused me of being racist. I fired all guns and don't apologize for my vulgarity. It was totally uncalled for! I have no intention to edit Wikipedia or offer donations going forward. The impression I got from the one individual is that he/she was a totalitarian, probably of Chinese decent. I will not tolerate this and it is not worth the "privilege" to edit. The user name of the individual is 331dot. I am a member of Lifelock and I received notification today of two instances of logins and passwords discovered on the dark web. The two passwords I ONLY had active on Wikipedia. This is inexcusable! CfD for DuMont News & DuMont Sports
So, on February 14th, a CfD for the DuMont News & DuMont Sports categories was created, for the purpose of re-naming the two categories, with the reasoning being that the DuMont Television Network never actually had a news or sports division, so there shouldn't be categories for things that never existed.
Now, I'm aware that CfDs are usually open for at least a week and are closed when either A) a rough consensus has been formed, or B) no objections to the nomination are raised.
Well, at the time of me writing this, it has now been a week since the creation of that CfD, and no one has raised any objections to it. So, who would be the person/individual/editor who has the task of going through & re-naming the categories to what they should be (Category:DuMont News -> Category:DuMont news programming & Category:DuMont Sports -> Category:DuMont sports programming)? 2600:1700:C960:2270:D954:671E:12C9:B9FF (talk) 23:03, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- User:2600:1700:C960:2270:D954:671E:12C9:B9FF, no one person/individual/editor has the task of closing CfD discussions, as we are all volunteers. User:Good Olfactory has now closed the discussion and the categories have been renamed by a bot. TSventon (talk) 01:56, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

- User:Valereee and anyone else - I have received four email notifications of failed login attempts over four hours. The web notification says that there have been 18 attempts. I don't think that anyone thinks that you (V) are a problem. I think that someone is a problem and is trying to cause a problem. I think that someone is trying to log in through multiple established accounts, probably by guessing at dumb passwords. I do not have 2FA, but I have a strong password that I remember, largely because I haven't changed it, and because no one else would think of it. I have checked my User Contributions, and all of the edits are those that I have made. My advice to anyone is to check your User Contributions frequently. If you see any edits that you did not make, either your password has been compromised, or your little sister or crazy uncle is using your computer. If your password has been compromised, change it. - The person who owns the photo gave me permission but I do not know how to fill out the declaration of consent template. Golffan233 (talk) 03:43, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Golffan233: What we need is an appropriate license (specifically, CC-BY-SA) from the owner of the copyright of the photo. That's not merely "permission", and it isn't from the "owner of the photo". The photographer owns the copyright, and CC-BY-SA gives everybody the right to use the image, not just us. These are not merely our silly rules. A real license is required by law, and broad reusability is a fundamental principle of Wikipedia. -Arch dude (talk) 04:49, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

- Hello, Golffan233. This article gives some good advice: Wikipedia:Example requests for permission. I understand what you're saying: the learning curve for managing consent is difficult, especially so for someone who isn't really interested in Wikipedia, only photography :-) – it's one reason many articles do not have enough/any photos. I can see the comments above are not very helpful and I especially don't really agree with the comment "You filling it out is a waste of time. The copyright holder needs to be the one to do it." My approach is to do the drafting for the copyright owner, give them the least possible work to do and get them to send off the consent I have prepared (which is compulsory -- you can't).
- This is because most of my photographer friends won't go near this because it's so complex. Since you say "the person who owns the photo gave me permission", and assuming that you mean also that the person owns the copyright, I would recommend choosing the CC-BY licence (the most often used) for him/her and copying, then pasting into a word processing appn and filling in the licence in the article, Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries. Yours might look like the following (the text you would complete is shown in orange).
Before I give the details, some notes:
1. If you know the purpose and subject of the image, I recommend you give the photo a comprehensive name that properly describes what it's about – the copyright owner will no doubt agree with it.
2. I usually upload the image just before the owner sends the consent.
3. Usually one of the OTRS volunteers will get back and ask the copyright owner to confirm what has been put on the Commons page. It can sometimes get complicated, so I usually add the note shown below at the end of the consent (but part of it) – and I check it and respond to OTRS.
4. Remember you can't send the consent; it has to be from thecopyright owner's e-mail address.
Dear Wikimedia e-mail response team member,
I hereby affirm that I, [The copyright owner's name], am the creator and sole owner of the exclusive copyright of the following image:
• Give the photo a comprehensive name that properly describes what it's about.jpg
which my colleague has provisionally uploaded at: Give the Commons URL].
I also affirm that I have legal authority in my capacity to release the copyright of that work.
I agree to publish the above-mentioned content under the free licence: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).

I am aware that this agreement is not limited to Wikipedia or related websites.
I am aware that I always retain copyright of my work, and retain the right to be attributed in accordance with the licence chosen. Modifications others make to the work will not be claimed to have been made by me.
I acknowledge that I cannot withdraw this agreement and that the content may or may not be kept permanently on a Wikimedia project.

Golffan233, I send the above as an attachment to an e-mail to the copyright owner. The e-mail itself reads as follows:
Subject: Instructions for sending your copyright consent to Wikimedia
1. Please open the attachment and copy all of the text.
2. Paste the text into a new blank e-mail.
3. Address the e-mail to: permissions-commons@wikimedia.org — with me as a cc: [Golffan233, INSERT YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS]
4. For the e-mail Subject, copy/paste or type this exactly: Declaration of consent for re-use of image
(It must be exactly this wording to get through their automated system to a specialised Wikipedia volunteer; otherwise it gets into a manual-handling queue that is often rather long, which leaves the copyright status in doubt for that time and may trigger an automated deletion.)
Their confirmation
At the bottom of your consent I have included an authorisation for any post-lodgement confirmations or queries to be sent to me. Usually there is only one, asking for what the volunteer has done to be checked and confirmed. If there are more, it can get complicated. If they overlook the authorisation and a volunteer e-mails you with words to the effect that he/she has "made the necessary modifications to the file pages" and asking you to "please verify", check whether they have cc'd me too. If they have, I'll check the pages and let them know, with a cc to you.
Golffan233, I guess by now you can probably see how things can get complicated! And this is the much simplified version (the result of dozens of small improvements, many achieved by asking the copyright owners their preferences, what was difficult, etc). I hope this helps!
PS: It's a good idea to open an account, so I/we can "ping" you, among other benefits.

If you own the copyright to the whole text (unlikely, if you "helped write" it) then you have the legal power to license it in terms that Wikipedia will accept; but only the copyright holder may do so.
- However, I think that the copyright is not relevant, because the obituary cannot be used directly in Wikipedia, as it would constitute original research. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a memorial site: a Wikipedia article about Brujis is subject to exactly the same criteria that would have applied when he was alive: both notability and biography of living persons (the latter applies to recently deceased people as well). If there are suitable independent reliable sources to establish his notability, then the article should be written based almost entirely on those independent sources; if there are not, then an article will not be accepted, however it is written. I'm sorry. --ColinFine (talk) 17:31, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
Deletion process gone wrong
I tried to candidate an article for the deletion process but something has gone wrong.
The discussion page has been created, but in the daily log the page does not appear to be created (right above the EMS Software).
I think something went wrong during the process, so I hope someone from the community can fix this since I'm not able to. --Darius Alnex (talk) 17:12, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Darius Alnex: I've reformatted the AFD page by following the instructions at WP:AFDHOWTO, and the daily log now looks right. -- John of Reading (talk) 17:24, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
If I Write the CEO's Bio, Is it Likely to be Accepted?
Hello. The president and CEO of our well-known non-profit organization in the legal education industry has been told by numerous people in the industry that she should have a bio on Wikipedia. She is well-known in our industry. Prior to being named president and CEO, she was dean of a major U.S. law school.
I'd like to write this Wikipedia bio of our CEO. If I write her bio page and background simply as statements of fact--with no PR embellishments--could it be approved for publication? Or is it likely to be rejected out of hand?
Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by PapaLu0823 (talk • contribs) 18:41, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- If you work for this person, you need to follow the instructions for declaring your conflict of interest.
- The first thing you need to do is forget everything you know about this person. Do some research, and do not write anything that is not backed up by previously published material about her. Cite sources for everything you put in the draft.
- Use the articles for creation process. It's time consuming, but gives your draft a higher chance of being accepted. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 18:57, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- Every claim the article makes that could potentially be challenged for ANY reason what-so-ever requires a strong third-party source corroborating it. You are also obligated to disclose your relationship with the school as you work for them. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Takes a strong man to deny... 18:59, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- Please also bear in mind that having a Wikipedia article isn't necessarily a good thing.--Shantavira|feed me 19:10, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- Also, carefully note that previously published material you use as a basis for your article must be published in resources independent of the CEO, as in, unconnected to the person and her company. See what constitutes a reliable source on Wikipedia.--Quisqualis (talk) 20:06, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
Request
Hi, I’m trying to find my help to a forum to apologise for and explain editing mistakes. Thanks for help. Ema--or (talk) 19:26, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- There is no forum to apologize, and there is no need to apologize as long as you learned a lesson from your mistakes (whatever they may have been). In the future, just follow Wikipedia's guidelines. If you have questions about guidelines, you can ask here. ‡ Єl Cid of Valencia talk 19:31, 22 February 2021 (UTC) Hi (thanks), what about self-explanation? Even if I wait till much later (after things cool), I could still potentially benefit from the knowledge of the process. Thanks again! Ema--or (talk) 09:14, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
Can't get the syntax right to add image from Commons
In editing Dirachma, I discovered an image from Commons in an article on another Wiki, and have been attempting to add it to the English article. Something about my syntax is defective, making the image invisible, the only indication of my edit being a slight change to the spacing of the lines in that section: diff. What should I do here?--Quisqualis (talk) 20:01, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Quisqualis: The image is showing for me on that page, so not sure why you can't see it. RudolfRed (talk) 20:18, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

Publication Question
I have drafted and attempted to publish information about an artist titled "Van Hoople". Whereas I have "Published" it I do not see that it shows up as published when I search for it. Please advise what I need to do to successfully complete the process. Thank you, Bill — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bill Moersch (talk • contribs) 20:17, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Bill Moersch: Draft:Van Hoople is unlikely to be approved. There are no reliable sources. Please see WP:YOURFIRSTARTICLE, WP:GNG and WP:RS. (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this:

. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 20:23, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Bill Moersch: Please note that "Publish Changes" should be interpreted to simply mean "save changes", it does not mean "publish this to the encyclopedia". I have added the appropriate information to allow you to submit your draft for review before formally placing it in the encyclopedia, but as Tim notes, if you submitted it now it would be rejected quickly. Please read what Tim suggests. 331dot (talk) 20:51, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- For what it's worth, this is confusing user interface. In Draft mode, publishing can mean two distinct things, and we should request a change text to Save changes while in Draft mode. Shushugah (talk) 00:08, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- Lawyers don't always think in terms of what makes sense to non-lawyers (I say that as . . . a lawyer), but rather what makes sense legally. The change from "save changes" to "publish changes" was made a the behest of the WMF's legal department, which was concerned that people did not realize when they hit "save changes" that the changes would immediately be publicly visible and that, by clicking that button people are "irrevocably agree[ing] to release [their] contribution under the CC BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL." ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 00:17, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

how to remove public IP address on a past edit
I am a first time user, and had accidentally edited a page without realising my IP would be shown. So, I created an account to hide the edit, however both the IP and the account aren't linking. I am wondering how to make the accounts merge somehow. Thank you.
Hickdole (talk) 03:21, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Hickdole: There’s no way to link IP edits to a newly registered account. If there were, you could claim any number of edits as your own. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 05:55, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
Name of WP Guideline Page
Hello, I remember reading a Wikipedia Guideline page that went something like, just because similar articles exist on Wikipedia doesn't mean that should be used to justify an article being kept instead of deletion- for lack of a better explanation. I'm not sure what the page is called so it would be very helpful if someone could link it down below. Thank you. SenatorLEVI 03:22, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

Updating of Page's title
Hi there,
I would like to change the page title of 'PSA Building' to 'mTower'. This is a property owned by my company and since we've changed the building name to mTower as at January 2021, we would like to update this information asap. Would appreciate if you guys can speed things up for us.
i've put up a request for speedy renaming/merging with the function
[redacted CFD template]
not sure if that's the right way to be doing this and if so, what's the next step from here. If any form of verification is required in order to make this changes to the page's title, feel free to reach out to me.
For more information, you can also head over to my company's website at https://www.mapletreecommercialtrust.com/Asset-Portfolio/Portfolio-Overview.aspx.
Thanks a lot.

- @Kennethoqs: No, that's not the way to rename an article. I suppressed your CFD template here on the help desk as an initial measure before proceeding.-Arch dude (talk) 04:57, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Kennethoqs: you rename an article by moving it. Since you have a conflict of interest (WP:COI) please do not move the article or make any other editos to it yourself. Instead, make suggestions for changes on the article's talk page, as you did in this case, but ass
{{request edit}}
to your request on the talk page. -Arch dude (talk) 05:05, 23 February 2021 (UTC) - @Kennethoqs: The subject does not appear to me to meet our notability requirements. see WP:NCORP. Please try to find additional references in reliable sources and request that they be added. Otherwise some editor may nominate the article for deletion. -Arch dude (talk) 05:09, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Kennethoqs: You are what we call a "paid editor". See WP:PAID. Before you do anything else, please make the appropriate declaration on your user page. This is mandatory to conform to our terms of use. I'm sorry if it appears that I am being negative here. We actually do value your contributions, but it's important to do it right. -Arch dude (talk) 05:15, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

How to cite journal item with no title
I am trying to cite this review using {{Cite journal}}, but it has no title (e.g. see the JSTOR suggested citations), and so the template complains. I stuck "Review" in there as a substitute title just to quiet the template, but that feels a bit disingenuous (even more so because "Review" is an English world while this document is in French). Any suggestion on how I can properly cite this? Thanks. Brycehughes (talk) 05:13, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Brycehughes: The goal of a citation is to provide the reader an unambiguous identification of the cited work. The templates are intended to simplify this. You are in theory free to not use a template at all if it is just getting in your way, and construct whatever citation format you wish. However, in this case, I would use the template as you did, but with the title "Review of: Tibesti. Carrefour de la préhistoire saharienne, coll. « Clefs de l'aventure »". This most closely reflects the JSTOR entry.-Arch dude (talk) 05:24, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll either follow your suggestion or handwrite it. Thank you!! Brycehughes (talk) 05:31, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- Well handwriting won't work because I'm using {{sfnref}}, so your suggestion it is. Brycehughes (talk) 05:37, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
