For your non-urgent consideration

For your non-urgent consideration. At your convenience, (and there is no hurry), I will take great interest in reading your reply.

In this edit, you state: Hello Ronz, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request.

I am very (inadequate) VERY (inadequate) extremely interested to understand why you did this. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 11:43, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Intervention by another user on another topic

I'm happy to discuss my use of rollback, in the context of Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Personal_attacks_and_harassment_by_Pdfpdf Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Personal_attacks_by_Pdfpdf or otherwise. --Ronz (talk) 16:56, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Mr Ronz. Thank you for your offer, but I have no interest in your use of rollback - in any circumstances. Not that it's any of your business, but I was asking this gentleman why he granted it. Whether you have used it or not, and how you have used it or not, is of no interest to me. Pdfpdf (talk) 17:36, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback button

Re-establishment

Hi there; I am waiting for and looking forward to your re-assertion of your position in wikipedia under your primary account. Best wishes. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:26, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I'm actually quite active under my alternate account, more so than I was expecting, and until I'm back on my own internet again, I'll be editing with this for the time being. At any rate, I don't mind editing without the admin tools for a bit anyway. Just so you know now, I'll be sending an E-mail to you later. Thanks for your kind words. Best. Survey on gender

Hi! I'm Liria Veronesi (User:Akoha77) and, together with Paolo Massa (User:Phauly), I'm starting an empirical research on "Gender and votes in requests for adminship". For this reason, we need to know the gender of Wikipedians who were candidated to become admins.

We tried looking for the templates User:UBX/male and User:UBX/female but only 4 admins use it. We also used the API for getting the gender field in the profile but, out of 1744 admins, only around 400 have filled this field. But we would benefit from a larger coverage, i.e. possibly knowing the gender of 100% of candidates.

So, after asking for advice to 3 admins and receiving 2 positive replies (1 and 2), we decided to try to ask directly to Wikipedians.

Thus, would you be so kind to write your gender [Male / Female / Other], together with a text comment if you want, on my talk page at User_talk:Akoha77? If you prefer to send me this information privately, you can send me an email, the information will be kept confidential and never shared.

Thanks! Akoha77 (talk) 12:49, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Added a line in "Chrismass"

Hi A, first let me thank you for your time, efforts and contribution to the wikipedia. I was very interested reading the Chrismass criticism and economics chapter, found there were some interesting elements in the economics chapter that support criticism against the whole monetization around the Chrismass period and since both chapters are quite far away/separated from each other, some readers might not find out about the interesting and complementary data in both chapters. So, I wanted to add a line "People interested in this section, might also be interested in reading this subject's section 6 Economics." Is that a good way of proceeding?

And as I was doing some previews and improving the editing and in-article hot-linking, I noticed "your" "Note: This page has been semi-protected so that only autoconfirmed users can edit it." That's a new notice for me, and I hope you don't mind me asking you here if I can find out if I'm such a autoconfirmed user or not? Do I meet the quality criteria or not? I'm not in some research center surrounded by intellectuals/phd degree people that I hope are massively contributing to Wikipedia via their publications, but just like you started out, I do try to help out to improve typo's and rephrasing things, though I'm known to make slip from time to time when I'm tired and frustrated about something that I've heard or read and wanting to check what wikipedia would say on the subject and then inserting something of low quality.

And thirdly: "I'm likely to respond on both my talk page and yours anyway. I've learned that it's best to keep a discussion in the same place in order to avoid confusion." I'm a bit frustrated with the discussion tools offered by the wikipedia's software. I'm very familiar with the google discussion groups and yahoo's mailing-list tools and they seem better. Can you indicate where I can read how I'm supposed to discuss something or get involved in a discussion? Maybe you can add a link to your line mentioned to such a place as I feel you're familiar with it but I have a hard time understanding your line as on one hand you say: you copy an answer and here in your page I guess below my "talk" and you do the effort of going to my "talk" page and copy/pasting that same Q&A then? What an effort, where do you get the energy from, what food to you eat, exercises, do you also have a 3 yr old challenging me to adapt continuously etc.? hihihi, looking forward reading you.

And four: How much do I violate good behaviour standards when asking 4 questions/raising 4 topics in one chapter? Shouldn't I have made a separate chapter for every one of them in this "talk" page? Thank you so much for enlightening me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SvenAERTS (talkcontribs) 09:18, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox mountain

You are using {{Infobox mountain}} on your sub page User:Acalamari/Dutchman Peak. Currently, that infobox uses deprecated parameter names. In the near future the template is to be updated and those parameter names will not work. I updated the template for you. I hope that was OK. –droll [chat] 19:01, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vote in the ArbCom elections

Acalamari, someone using the User:Bellatrix Kerrigan account appears to have cast a vote in the ArbCom elections. While you can't retract it, you should know that voting with alternate accounts is frowned upon for future reference. Regards, Skomorokh 13:32, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. It is me who voted, and I e-mailed MBisanz on this subject prior to the vote beginning and he said I would be okay providing there was a clear link between accounts and I wasn't double voting. I'm about to go out so I'll go into more detail when I come back if you like. Acalamari (from Bellatrix Kerrigan) 13:42, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay sorry for the inconsistency there, that's understandable. Regards, Skomorokh 13:45, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry! I don't mind being asked about this, especially since it's unusual. Since I'm not on my own internet at the moment, I'm using this account, but I will go back to my regular account when I have my own internet again, though that won't occur before the voting ends, and even if it did, I wouldn't be voting with it (I see you made this edit, and in the interests of transparency, I think that's a good idea). Thanks for your work in this Arbcom season. Best. Acalamari (from Bellatrix Kerrigan) 15:56, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your main account

Hi there; I keep hoping to see you at your main account, and keep on not doing so. I do know that having a bit of a break from admin hassle is good for you, and you will recall that I took three months off earlier this year. But come home now, eh? You are needed. A lot of the senior admins seem to have vanished lately. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:56, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Autowotsit

I saw your comment on Wikipedia:Requests_for_permissions/Autopatrolled_candidates_1#User:Rajasekhar1961 and offered a second opinion. Since you got there first and I don't feel strongly, I'll leave it up to you. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:42, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi HJ Mitchell! I was actually planning to come to your talk page soon, but it seems you got here first. :) Anyway, thanks for the comment, I'll take a look in a minute. I've answered a load of the listings (especially on the second page, which I'm still going through), but I did leave a few blank (I'm back here after a long break from the admin tools, so some of the more difficult ones I left), and on the second page I think I asked for input there too on one or two of them. Thanks! Acalamari 17:51, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much, Acalamari. I really appreciate you and HJ Mitchell going through the lists of candidates and reviewing them. You guys are going through the lists faster than I can make them. Thanks again. - Hydroxonium (H3O+) 19:20, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome, but thank you for compiling the lists: it's much easier to go through a list of users to evaluate than going out searching for users to grant the rights to! Acalamari 20:08, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I think it's harder to do the reviewing rather than working on the list. I'm just going through a list from a year ago and checking basic things and formatting it with {{RfP}} requests. - Hydroxonium (H3O+) 20:33, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm happy to help review the users you've listed, though after spending quite a bit of time on it, it is nice to take a rest. :) I'll do some more tomorrow if there's more. Best. Acalamari 20:45, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Likewise. I've been hoping for a list like this for a while. Short of checking out experienced-looking editors on NPP or waiting for them to request it, it's difficult to find the people who would actually have a use for the permission. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:34, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

┌───────────────────────────┘
Thanks very much Acalamari and thanks very much HJ Mitchell. You've both been going to town on the lists and I really appreciate it. I don't think there is a rush for any reviews. I think you can do this as you have spare time, so please don't run yourselves ragged. Thanks again. - Hydroxonium (H3O+) 23:31, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol list - May I ask a favor?

Thanks again for going through all those reviews. I would like to ask a favor. I noticed a number of them have not been notified of the their newly granted Autopatrol right. Would you mind leaving a whole bunch of talk page messages please?

I have set up a list here. Each user has a "Leave Autopatrolled granted message" link next to their username. Clicking the link brings up their talk page with a pre-filled in message. It should leave a message like this.

All you need to do is click the "save" button on the loaded talk page and it will leave the message and sign it for you. You should not need to type anything — not even a subject — just click "save". At least that's how it supposed to work. You may want to click "preview" on the first few and if it looks OK then click "save". Anyway, would you mind going through the list? Please let me know if it's not working. Thanks again for all the help. - Hydroxonium (H3O+) 12:53, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hydroxonium, I will gladly do this for you. I'll let you know if anything goes wrong. Best. Acalamari 20:09, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I just updated this. I hope it doesn't mess up anything. Please let me know. Thanks. - Hydroxonium (H3O+) 20:26, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just one thing though: I was actually planning to make an alternate account soon solely for the purpose of making semi-automated/automated edits (such as Huggle, or even things like this) and trying out monobook scripts (I now have better internet and a different browser than I used to, and can now use more scripts and things). Would you have a problem with me making all some-200 notices with such an account? (Everything will still re-direct to this account for the sake of transparency and decency, so don't worry) If you do, it's not a problem, and I'll just post the notices with this account. Thanks. Acalamari 20:47, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's OK by me. I'm just happy for all your help. Thanks again. - Hydroxonium (H3O+) 21:04, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay then: I should have enough time to get it done tonight (my time), but anything I don't finish tonight I'll do tommorow. I'll get right to it. Acalamari 21:06, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Phew! I'm done. That was a much harder job than the initial handing out of the rights themselves was. Next time we should see if a bot can hand out the notices. Anyway, I'm back to articles...at least until the next group of users to change the rights of comes out! Thanks. Acalamari 22:03, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you - That was a good one. Thanks kindly. - Hydroxonium (H3O+) 22:35, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for granting rollback status

I just logged on now so just got your message Acalamari. I had a quick read of what rollback entails, and the use of one click to undo consecutive preceding edits does seem very helpful. I'm not that active a user (i tend to read more than edit) but i shall be sure to use rollback whenever i come across any article containing multiple edits of vandalism. It's nice I have been given this status, although sometimes I wonder if I'm submitting appropriate material. From time to time I hope my submission is notable enough or detailed enough but I have doubts. If no one flags it then I feel better. Wikipedia Ambassador Program is looking for new Online Ambassadors

Hi! Since you've been identified as an Awesome Wikipedian, I wanted to let you know about the Wikipedia Ambassador Program, and specifically the role of Online Ambassador. We're looking for friendly Wikipedians who are good at reviewing articles and giving feedback to serve as mentors for students who are assigned to write for Wikipedia in their classes.

If that sounds like you and you're interested, I encourage you to take a look at the Online Ambassador guidelines; the "mentorship process" describes roughly what will be expected of mentors during the current term, which started in January and goes through early May. If that's something you want to do, please apply!

You can find instructions for applying at WP:ONLINE. The main things we're looking for in Online Ambassadors are friendliness, regular activity (since mentorship is a commitment that spans several months), and the ability to give detailed, substantive feedback on articles (both short new articles, and longer, more mature ones).

I hope to hear from you soon.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 00:53, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A small request

Hi Acalamari, I have a small request if you can do. Can you delete the previous versions of these files (this, this, this and this). I would be very grateful if you would do that, so I hope that you will do. Thank you in advance.  InfamousPrince  09:57, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid that images are not an area I work in. What would be the rationale for deleting these? Acalamari 10:54, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Because there is no need for previous versions to be visible when only one version is used. InfamousPrince  11:18, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've deleted the old versions of Winnie the Pooh and Prom, but I haven't deleted the other two yet: on the Elite Force image, the image you've uploaded says "Mac" on the box, while the description says it's for the PC; and the external link supplied for the 127 Hours poster shows the original image that was here. Shouldn't these be made consistent first? Acalamari 12:08, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Hydroxonium, thanks! With the autopatrolled viewing though, there has been a bit of a slowdown with it: I've been a bit busier in real-life the last couple of days, but I'm trying to get a page of reviewing in a day if I can. Still, at the current rate, we should be done with these lists soon. Thanks again for the award. Acalamari 14:01, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and thanks for going through the lists and adding the date of the last creations of each user: that makes going through the lists a bit quicker, so thanks for that. Acalamari 14:06, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. To be honest, I was thinking it would take about a year to go through all the lists. I figured a few admins would check a few users a week, so I was surprised when you and HJ Mitchell were going so fast. Thanks again. - Hydroxonium (H3O+) 15:20, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page deletion rules

I thought we had a rule against deleting talk pages. However, I just glanced at Deletion policy and Talk page guidelines and I don't see it. However, a few weeks ago, someone tried to delete a talk page and the request was refused.

Are talk page archives on a different standard?

I'm trying to make sure I know the rule, because it comes up once in a while. --SPhilbrickT 14:44, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sphilbrick! To my knowledge, the only talk pages that shouldn't be deleted are article talk pages and their archives when the article is intact, and user talk pages where the user is still active and/or has a major talk page history. While it's recommended that users keep archives for convenience, I don't believe there's a problem deleting them if a user decides they don't want them anymore (after all, posts to their talk page can be found in the history, which is why their main talk page shouldn't be deleted, even if they are inactive). That being said, I'm happy to undo my recent deletes if there is dispute over the rules. Thanks. Acalamari 15:08, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It isn't a question of a dispute, it is more a question of my understanding. I guess I can understand allowing deletion of archives, given that one can reconstruct the history, but I'm not sure I can think of a legitimate reason why one would want to delete archives. Thanks for your answer.--SPhilbrickT 16:49, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

With all due respect, User:96.244.248.77, This talk page is not really the place to accuse an Administrator of more than 3.5 years, of violations to Wikipedia Policies. Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents is the place to make such an accusation. Accalamari most obviously earned the rights to do many things, and peform duties and tasks. I have taken a look at Acalamari's contributions history, I do not see any missuse of Wikipedia polocies. Before we are too hasty on everything, may you please just take a deep breath and keeping cool. Please Assume good faith before accusing editors, as well keeping calm, I am sure Acalamari will have no issue answering your questions then :) Thank You -- MelbourneStar☆ (talk) 06:34, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In all fairness, complaints should normally be brought to a user's talk page before they are brought to AN/I, so 96.244.248.77 was correct to post here. However, I am confused at the complaint, as most of my recent edits are small cleanup edits to articles, rather than trying to "manipulate the Wikipedia system" (though part of it appears to mention blocks, but I haven't given out any of those for about two weeks or so, and I did not block anyone because I had a disagreement with them). I'm even more confused by the template to request edits to a semi-protected page being placed on my talk page. Acalamari 10:50, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies, with the AN/I part, but you are most correct, this is a little fishy, especially the title. User:96.244.248.77 seems relatively new, so this was possibly just a misunderstanding. -- MelbourneStar☆ (talk) 11:05, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's okay, you don't need to apologize. :) Acalamari 11:07, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I was pretty frustrated with a certain page where I was completely vandalized and Acalamari was the last editor which restored what I considered content that I removed which was outside of wikipedia guidines regarding controversial material, neutral POV, and material about living persons. I've since gone down a different path for resolution. I'll try to keep it more civil in the future.--96.244.248.77 (talk) 02:18, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Which page in particular are you referring to? It would be helpful if I knew which page you are talking about. I normally find myself removing things from BLPs rather than adding them. Thanks. Acalamari 09:54, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Request for the unprotection of the Mexico article

Hi Acalamari, looking in the logs for the Mexico article I noticed that you protected it indefinitely on 7 April 2009 for the then-ongoing "heavy, continued vandalism". Almost two years have passed since then; a majority of the most obvious cases of vandalism are now conveniently reverted automatically by bots. The Mexico article counts 477,744 views in the last 30 days, and is being watched over by 714 users. I believe that the combination of these factors allows for a return of the useful contributions of anonymous users, since this article has already been deprived of their edits for too long.--LK (talk) 16:57, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'll remove the semi-protection, but leave the move-protection on. I don't mind trying unprotection in this case, though it is possible that the heavy vandalism may return again, as that's often happened in my experience with articles about countries (I'll let another admin handle any reprotection, however). Thanks for bringing this up. Acalamari 10:31, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled

Hey just wanted to say thanks for giving me the Autopatrolled thing! Just curious though, what did I do to get it? DonEd (talk) 04:59, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DonEd, the reason you were given this right is because you were on a list of potential candidates for the autopatrolled userright. However, merely being on the list isn't automatic qualification for the userright, rather, the criteria are: 1. creating a lot of articles, and 2. creating articles of good quality. As your articles fits that criteria, you got the userright. I hope this answers your question. Best. Acalamari 10:31, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Acalamari -- I turn to you as a friendly administrator, seeking a little bit of advice and maybe some assistance, if you have a moment. You were so nice a few weeks back, you're the first one I thought of.

The topic is the article on Consumer capitalism. User:Mjleknick4 recently added a good deal of text to the article. I reverted it, with an explanation on the talk page citing my reasons. The biggest problem is that part of that text is a copyvio, but it's also unreferenced, unformatted, with smaller subjective issues about tone. User:Mjleknick4 reinserted it without comment. These two entries are his or her only edits, ever. I assume good faith & want to stay encouraging etc.

Could you look at these edits? And tell me what you think? Really appreciate it -- --Lockley (talk) 05:06, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lockley! Looking over this, I see no problem in what you did by removing the information, and will not object to you removing it again if a significant amount of it is a copyvio (I'm not taking a side by saying that, rather, copyvios should be removed on sight, and reverting copyvios is exempt from 3RR, see the exceptions). The only point I have to make is that it might have been a good idea to have directed Mjleknick4 to the discussion you started on the talk page, as it is possible that the editor may not be aware of it. I recommend removing the material again (as said above, you are not revert-warring by removing copyvios), direct the editor to your post on the article's talk page, and wait for them to respond (they have not edited since you posted to their talk page, so it's fair to give them a chance to respond). If they discuss, that's great! If they keep reverting, do let me know about it. I don't think I've missed anything, but let me know if I have. I hope this helps. Acalamari 10:55, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
that helps a lot! I'll proceed as you recommend. thanks! --Lockley (talk) 02:54, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

However, he did recommend on your talk page to get the image you mentioned here renamed, so my recommendation would be to go to Graeme Bartlett's talk page and post a link to this discussion and see if it's enough to relieve his concern. and for your support. I was actually starting to wonder who it was that some of the supporters were talking about... Funny thing - one of the last edits I made before the close was a non-admin closure of an AfD, and I had to get help! The kid who had nominated his own article had got his capitalisation wrong (which I sorted along with the closure) and also put his nomination in the wrong place at the Log (which I couldn't find a way to get at. The admin who'd speedied the article by this time sorted that out. I've explained to the kid that it's easier to blank the page and NOT to do it again anyway. In a friendly sort of way. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:14, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

re: Speedy-deletions under CSD#R2

You recently deleted User:Doug butler/M. W. Holtze, citing CSD#R2 in the edit summary. As a redirect from the Userspace to the Mainspace, it was technically ineligible for criterion R2. That criterion only applies to redirect from the Mainspace. We are trying hard to clean up the cites to the R2 clause so that it's not so widely misunderstood by new users. In this case, there was no harm done because the redirect was speedy-deletable under criterion U1 but if you could help us keep the logs clean in future situations, it would make the education process easier. Thanks for your understanding. Rossami (talk) 21:20, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolling

I don't create as many articles as I used to, but could I get the autopatrolled rights? Because when I do create some new articles, sometimes I check to see if they get patrolled and often they don't, I've noticed that the legit pages' titles usually don't stand out as much as vandal ones like "brian is a douchebag" which often leads to a patrolling overlook. Thanks. Daniel Christensen (talk) 17:02, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I understand, it's because I used to create a lot of shotty articles. Now I don't even really create them very often, I fix existing ones that are shotty to near, or recently, to attaining a GA status. Whether or not a page is patrolled doesn't seem to make that much of a difference anyway. It's really just a vandalism prevention measure. I just happened to come across an autopatrolling message by you on the talk page of someone who was reviewing my GAN and thought I would give it a shot. Daniel Christensen (talk) 20:40, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, sure, I thought I had rollback rights, in fact I almost know I did, I notice that when I look at a pages history or compare revisions, sometimes options (ie revert vandalism) are not there, and sometimes they are. Maybe it depends on what browser I'm using. Rollback rights would be convenient, I've occasionally manually done such things by editing an old revision. I have only done one review type thing, and that was a GA review I did while my GAN was being reviewed. Daniel Christensen (talk) 21:15, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have a question

Within the couple of months, I tried to have the article for actress Alexis Fields re-created, the link is currently locked from re-creation at the moment. Both of my requests at deletion review were turned down: [2] [3] Today, I contacted Ms. Fields through Twitter, she gave me permission to re-create the page and I even asked to make her own suggestions in my userspace for her: User:QuasyBoy/Alexis Fields. Other than two minor edits, she said the page was fine. Here are the series of tweets I shared with her [4] [5] [6]. My question is, with permission from Ms. Fields herself, is it officially OK for the page to go live again. QuasyBoy 19:00, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK, Thanks for the advice. :) QuasyBoy 20:32, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. :) The funny thing is, the person (User:Otto4711) that nominated the article for deletion has been blocked for using multiple accounts, LOL. But, one thing I cannot stand is when articles are deleted simply because the article is bad shape which probably was the case with Ms. Fields. Apparently there many deletion nominators that have not heard of cleanup tags. QuasyBoy 20:50, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry, I will try to add more, despite my dire difficulties with that. :( About Ms. Fields, I'm sure she will be fine either way. :) QuasyBoy 21:14, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Acalamari, I just want to let you know how I think You've done a really nice job with the books you've created, yes you have! I want to let you know one thing though, and that is concerning the sort_as part of the book. Might you click on the above link and check out the two edits that I've made. Thanks, and great work! Adele/21

Hi there. I see that you're one of the more active contributors to Adele's page. I was wondering, and this is contingent on you having sufficient time, if you could take a quick look at 21 and offer any help, suggestion or edits that could improve the article. I've written about 99.9% of it, and could use a fresh eye before I take it to WP:FAC in the next few days/weeks. Thanks. Orane (talk) 10:07, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for looking it over, and thanks for the vote of confidence. It really means a lot. I'm gonna polish the prose a bit and head over to FAC by the end of the week. Orane (talk) 03:00, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Change protection level for "Donald Trump"

You semi-protected this article. I want to un-protect Donald Trump, so that uninvolved and anonymous IPs can edit this, which is FUBAR. If IP vandalism returns, we can revert that and semi-protect it again. May I do that? Bearian (talk) 16:53, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bearian! Whoa...I protected that article over three years ago? I'd completely forgotten about it! Yes, yes, you can unprotect the article, and I appreciate being asked about it despite the time passed. If you come across any other protections of mine that old feel free to go right ahead and unprotect them. Best. Acalamari 17:03, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I award this to Acalamari for always being amazing. We have never communicated before. And, you're one of the nicest admins I've ever seen. Novice7 (talk) 17:38, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How have you been?

I just stopped by to say hi to Wikipedia's most beloved admin. Just wondering how you have been. Best regards. - Hydroxonium (TCV) 02:59, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Hydroxonium! I've been good! I've just been sticking to article work this month and taking a bit of a break away from admin-related things. Thanks for this! Hope you've been good as well. Best. Acalamari 09:10, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've been good too. I don't want to put you on the spot or anything, but I was wondering if you ever thought of running for another position as you are certainly qualified for pretty much everything? Kind regards. - Hydroxonium (TCV) 19:27, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I ran for RfB years ago but withdrew it very quickly as it was evident it was clearly not going to succeed at that time. Bureaucratship is the only other position I've thought seriously about because it's an extension of what I already do, and several people have encouraged me to run again. However, I'm not planning a run for now, and I stated my reasons here when RfBs were being discussed in early April. I am very impressed with the current RfB active at the moment. Acalamari 20:03, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply and for your insight. Thanks also for the link to the discussion. I had not seen that, so I went to the archive to read the thread. I found it illuminating. I too have been impressed with the current RfB and have been following it closely. I hope it is successful and that it might encourage others. All the best. - Hydroxonium (TCV) 21:28, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback rights

Many thanks for your kind comments. I would very much appreciate rollback rights, as I normally take ages to check things. I had thought about applying before, but I'm not a great 'computer' person. However, I like to learn new things (slowly). I think the idea of Wikipedia is wonderful and can't understand why people want to vandalise it. Thanks again. Ariana Grande

Thanks for protecting this BLP. The claimed birth name may be correct, I am guessing a possible divorce or Mother remarried, but she never uses it and no reliable citations have been produced by the user/users when requested. The boyfriend claim is trivial even if correct. At least now they are forced to discuss. Regards. Off2riorob (talk) 09:51, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that there weren't any edit summaries whatsoever to explain the changes either. You're welcome for the protection! Best. Acalamari 11:22, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Acalamari, I've just noticed you've protected Here I Am (Kelly Rowland album). Book report

Hi Acalamari. Might you inform NoomBot about an accidental log-out of (his) user name, thus showing the IP address of 66.228.36.237 instead. Can you please verify that this is indeed the IP address so as to know that it is not a rogue editor who is infiltrating this system. Thanks, and keep up the great work! Best, --Discographer (talk) 00:03, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Discographer! Since you've already posted messages to the talk pages of the IP, the bot, and the bot owner, there's nothing I can add to what you already did, though I will keep an eye out for a response from them. Best. Acalamari 11:35, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bank of Hawaii/BananaObama block

I have been watching a bit of apparent vandalism or maybe just poor editing at Bank of Hawaii over recent weeks and helping to keep the page clear of it, as have other editors. I haven't found any specific documentation on the block you've initiated on this user, who is one of three to execute the edits in question at BoH, so I thought I would just draw to your attention to the history of the Bank issue as I've been able to lay it out there. It appears your action is consonant with ours. Thanks. Swliv (talk) 19:16, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. For the record, I came across the user because I watch the Barack Obama article, and I saw some blatant trolling by the accounts ObamaBanana and aforementioned BananaObama on its talk page. Hope that explains how I came to block the account. Best. Acalamari 19:30, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You are most welcome. It's a pleasure to see your work and keep on learning. I've gone my (final? for now) lap back there. Cheers. Swliv (talk) 18:16, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Happy to help. :) Acalamari 18:01, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Me again. I had thought there was a connection between the BananaObama editor and an IP 65.113.119.85 editor. While I haven't done a close textual analysis, the two I've linked to there are close enough on quick inspection I think to support my thought. Even without proof of connection, though, I'm back because the IP 65... editor has now five successive edits reverted on the BoH page since June 29 and I think on that ground alone deserves consideration for further attention. Clue Bot NG has executed one of the five reversions and signaled that "Your edits have been automatically marked as vandalism", but I'm thinking a full block is called for. If you can effect this (or would like more groundwork/textual analysis, say, before proceeding), I'd appreciate your help/suggestion on it. I'm also letting User:SQGibbon know, who weighed in earlier on the BoH talk page on the matter. Thanks again. Swliv (talk) 19:36, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And again. Aargh. Sorry. I made a mistake -- three different IP#s all starting with 65 account for the five edits. And there's a sixth by a 194..., I think it is. I've addressed the new complexity in more detail over at BoH talk, but the short of it is, I could wait a little longer and see if they all seem to be the same editor, or otherwise a "cluster," as I've thought they are but now can't say with any confidence. I leave it to you. And if you hold off, I'll come back when I have a better read. Sorry, again, and thanks. Swliv (talk) 20:39, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism?

I've just noticed that IP 93.97.39.182 left a message at 19:19 on User talk:Marek69 using my name. Can you help? Denisarona (talk) 19:30, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's possible that the same IP is also User:Craticus - see revision history of Marek69. Denisarona (talk) 19:34, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked the IP, plus Craticus, and also an impersonation account Merak69. I also reverted the impersonation of your signature. Acalamari 19:51, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

State Bank of Mauritius

There's some vandalism occurring on State Bank of Mauritus. User: Deepakanandd has twice removed the contents of the article and substituted for it info on a court case involving the bank. I have twice reverted them, and will continue to do so, but don't know the protocol for warning them off or blocking them. Will revert should Deepakanandd persist. Regards, Acad Ronin (talk) 13:13, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A standard vandal warning template would have been okay, but I suspect that text is copyrighted, so {{Uw-copyright}} might be more appropriate. If they persist after being warned, you can report them either to an administrator or to AIV. Acalamari 13:28, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Miranda Cosgrove's Bus crash

I am in no way attempting to vandalize her wiki page. I just think it is important information to the public and her fans to know that not only was she injured, her mother and bus driver were injured too. and i had sources saying the rest of the tour was in fact cancelled, rather than postponed. And I believe that the public deserves to know that on her wiki page. GeisterXfahrer (talk) 20:15, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Asymptotic geometric analysis

Hi,

the log says you deleted Asymptotic geometric analysis in 2007. Could you please tell me what was on the page and what was the rationale for deletion?

Thank you very much, Sasha (talk) 00:44, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

thanks! Then I guess there is no reason not to resuscitate it (with proper content). Sasha (talk) 14:11, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. 2 editors User:Deepeshraj1 and User:Mustihussain appear to be conducting an edit-war over the above article and using my talk page for their acrimonious dispute. Can you help?? Denisarona (talk) 09:45, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't want to be involved in the dispute at all, you can either ask everyone to stop posting to your talk page about it or just remove the section altogether. As for the dispute itself, there is a discussion on the article's talk page and another editor is wanting all parties to stop reverting each other, though if the reverts continue the page can be protected if it becomes necessary. Acalamari 11:05, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help. I don't know enough about the subject and certainly don't want to be involved!! Denisarona (talk) 11:08, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
