Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

2018 24 Hours of Le Mans

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring. INeedSupport(Care free to give me support?) 14:07, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Declined NeilN has blocked the edit-warriors and semi'd the page, full-protection is no longer necessary. Vanamonde (talk) 09:37, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's Nations League

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – a lot of disruptive IP edits. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 14:24, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Declined The number of IP edits being reverted is much smaller than those not: volume of editing makes PC protection impractical Vanamonde (talk) 09:42, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    AGS Transact Technologies

    Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – See history - sockpuppet spamming. Jmertel23 (talk) 15:28, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Declined There's only one edit by a suspected sock in many months. The suspected sock should be reported to SPI. Vanamonde (talk) 09:45, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Talk:List of programs broadcast by Yey!

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Vandalism edits by Bricolay, wacko, yacko and Dot IP Vandal. LG-Gunther :  Talk  00:10, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    • Automated comment: A request for protection/unprotection for one or more pages in this request was recently made, and was denied at some point within the last 8 days.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 00:15, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Talk pages will only be protected in extreme circumstances. Vanamonde (talk) 10:59, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    2.0 (film)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – There are many people (mainly IPs) which constantly vandalise this page by adding false information. Aggarwala2727 (talk) 04:15, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Fish+Karate 10:21, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Ujjawal Krishnam

    Semi-protection: Chances of IP vandalism. AchaksurvisayaUdvejin (talk) 07:37, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    DeclinedPages are not protected preemptively. Fish+Karate 10:15, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Rebecca Sugar

Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism. A cursory glance at the article's talk page shows that it is often targeted by vandals (examples from the last year: [1][2][3]). And not to hurl this accusation around lightly, but some of the edits to my eye seem to be motivated by antisemitism ([4][5][6]). I monitor the page to keep it orderly, but protection would greatly help.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 13:28, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Courcelles (talk) 14:36, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Escape the Night

Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism that happened as soon as previous protection was lifted. Leahmerone (talk) 14:12, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 2 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Exactly the same issues as last year. Fish+Karate 14:41, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Talk:List of types of numbers

Semi-protection: Particularly stubborn IP user doesn't seem to understand the difference between an article and a talk page. PohranicniStraze (talk) 14:24, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done @PohranicniStraze: - I appreciate there's an issue here, but I'm really reluctant to semi-protect a talk page, which we only do in cases of extreme vandalism (which, believe me, this is not) - I've temporarily blocked the IP address in question, if the issues continue then please come back here, or perhaps request a range block of the IP address causing the issue at WP:AIV. Fish+Karate 14:46, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    St David's Marist, Inanda

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – A non-notable person Trent Patterson - Overall great guy. has been added to the notable people section three times. . Wayne Jayes (talk) 14:39, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Sorry, Trent. Fish+Karate 14:48, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    MyAnimeList, draft at Draft:MyAnimeList

Create Protecton Removal - I have created an encyclopedic draft that has been sitting for about 2 weeks. The protecting admin gave a vague answer when I asked him to undo it, essentially refused to, and said to wait for Draft approval. R9tgokunks 08:39, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    • Automated comment: One or more pages in this request appear to already be protected. Please confirm.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 21:55, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    pinging @RHaworth:. L293D ( • ) 01:23, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    @L293D:, I've already asked the admin, as mentioned above. They refused. R9tgokunks 02:56, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Not unprotected If the draft is approved, it will be moved into article space. If the approver is unable to move it, come back to request unprotection. DrKay (talk) 16:26, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@DrKay: not all AfC reviewers are admins. "If the the approver is unable to move it" is nonsense. Salted page can not be created by non-admins, not even by moving. Please unsalt or strike your response. L293D ( • ) 01:35, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Of course it is not nonsense. The target was correctly unprotected after the draft was approved. If you had approved the draft before asking for it to be moved, there would have been no need for a discussion. DrKay (talk) 12:32, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Most AFC reviewers are not admins. In order for the article to be accepted (which is done by the AFCH script), the target needs to be unsalted first. Please remove page protection from the target so that the AFC process can continue. Bradv 05:32, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Articles can be approved without the tool. It is optional. DrKay (talk) 12:32, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Unprotected Since an AFC reviewer has indicated that they wish to accept this draft but are unable to do so because of the protection, I have gone ahead and unprotected this title. Vanamonde (talk) 11:19, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    @R9tgokunks and L293D: - I've moved the article to main space. Fish+Karate 13:12, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@DrKay and Fish and karate: AFC reviewers use the WP:AFCH tool as it also updates WP:AFC/Recent, applies the appropriate talk page banners to the article, and notifies the author of the article that the draft was accepted. By moving this directly to mainspace without using the script none of this happened. Bradv 15:08, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Kankana Banerjee

Unsalt - There is a draft at Draft:Kankana Banerjee which is ready to move to mainspace. Please unprotect the target so AFC reviewers can accept the article. Bradv 05:22, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    • Automated comment: One or more pages in this request appear to already be protected. Please confirm.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 05:32, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
