This is a list of museums in Japan.

As of October 2018, there were 5,738 museums in Japan. This total comprises, in line with the Museum Act, 914 registered museums, 372 designated museum-equivalent facilities, and 4,452 museum-like facilities.[1]

By region and prefecture

Hokkaidō Museum
