In 2005, the Singapore Visitor Centre was launched at the shopping mall. In December 2008, a pedestrian bridge connecting the building to JB Sentral was opened.[3] In mid-2016, Cathey Cineplex was changed to mmCineplexes while the facilities still remain the same.[4]

The building interior consists of a seven-storey mall with five levels of retail outlet space, including a thirty-six storey office block, which is divided into the lower, middle and upper zones. City Square has three floors of basement carpark. Level 6 has an outdoor garden, pond and a green wall. The shopping mall total floors spread over an area of 41,800 m2 (450,000 sq ft) and consists of 300 retailers.

Business

The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation owns 70% of City Squares shares, which they bought in June 2009. The remaining shares are divided between the Johor Bahru City Council and Iskandar Puteri City Council.[5]

The shopping mall includes several anchor tenants and has various clothes, shoes, bags, electronic stores.[6]

The shopping mall receives around 1.5 million visitors monthly.[2] Due in part to its proximity to the Johor-Singapore Causeway, City Square attracts many shoppers from Singapore.
