2020 United States Senate election in New Jersey
The 2020 United States Senate election in New Jersey will be held on November 3, 2020, to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the State of New Jersey , concurrently with the 2020 U.S. presidential election , as well as other elections to the United States Senate, elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections . The Primary elections were moved from June 2, 2020, to July 7, 2020, due to COVID-19 pandemic concerns (link 2020 United States presidential election in New Jersey .)
Incumbent Democratic Senator Cory Booker is running for a second full term. Booker previously was a candidate in the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries . New Jersey election law allowed him to run for both the U.S. Senate and U.S. President simultaneously, but he suspended his presidential campaign on January 13, 2020 and confirmed his intention for reelection to his Senate seat.[1] [2]
The Republican candidate is Rik Mehta.[3]
