List of political self-immolations

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Anat541 (talk | contribs) at 03:20, 20 June 2020 (→‎1970s: added Robert Rex Vice (1942-1970)). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

This is a list of notable self-immolations done for political reasons. Non-political self-immolations are not included in the list. Self-immolation was a relatively common protest tactic among Buddhists in South Vietnam, anti-communists in Czechoslovakia during the mid 20th century and continues to be used by Tibetans protesting rule of Tibet by China[1] and Crimean Tatars protesting forced deportation from their land.[2]
