It is part of the Beijing–Hong Kong (Taipei) passageway.

The section between the airport to Beijing will operate at speeds of 250 km/h and the section between the airport to Xiong'an will operate at speeds of 350 km/h, cutting the end-to-end journey time between the two cities to about 30 minutes[1] and Beijing to the airport in about 11 minutes.[2] The airport to Beijing section is expected to open in September 2019 while the airport to Xiong'an section in late 2020.[2]
