Jalandhar district (Doabi:ਜਲੰਧਰ ਜ਼ਿਲਾ, Jalandhar Zilā) is a district in Doaba region of the state of Punjab in North-West Republic of India. District headquarters is Jalandhar city.

According to the 2011 census Jalandhar district has a population of 2,181,753,[2] roughly equal to the nation of Latvia[3] or the US state of New Mexico.[4] This gives it a ranking of 209th in India (out of a total of 640).[2] The district has a population density of 831 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,150/sq mi) .[2] Its population growth rate over the decade 2001-2011 was 11.16%.[2] Jalandhar has a sex ratio of 913 females for every 1000 males,[2] and a literacy rate of 82.4%.[2]
