Lago Vista is a city in Travis County, Texas, United States. The population was 6,041 at the 2010 census.
Government
Lago Vista was incorporated in 1984 with a council-manager system of local government. As of November 17, 2016, Lago Vista City Councilmembers are as follows:

The seven members serve two year terms. The mayor and councilmembers place one, place three and place five are elected in odd years. Councilmembers place two, place four and place six are elected in even years. Lago Vista is represented in Texas House of Representatives by Republican Paul D. Workman. In the State Senate, Lago Vista is represented by Democrat Kirk Watson.
The City Manager is Melissa Byrne Vossmer.
Rusty Allen Airport (RYW) is a municipal airport on the northern edge of the city and is the second airport in Travis County behind Austin–Bergstrom International Airport. Lago Vista has a private single runway airport, which, for the month of September 2005, was the center of operations for relief flights for victims of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Mississippi. Small planes from across the USA, and even Mexico, landed at Lago Vista's Rusty Allen Airport to pick up essential supplies which were directed to outlying communities not initially being served by government agency relief efforts. Lago Vista was the only General Aviation Center (GAC) airport in the country to support such flights.
The United States Postal Service operates the Lago Vista branch through the Leander Post Office.
Geography
Lago Vista is located on the north shore of Lake Travis, 20 miles (32 km) northwest of Austin. Farm to Market 1431 (FM 1431) is the main east-west highway for Lago Vista.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 15.2 square miles (39.4 km2), of which, 14.6 square miles (37.8 km2) of it is land and 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2) of it (3.95%) is water.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 4,507 people, 1,944 households, and 1,364 families residing in the city. The population density was 517.3 people per square mile (199.8/km2). There were 2,155 housing units at an average density of 247.4/sq mi (95.5/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 94.01% White, 0.84% African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.67% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 2.44% from other races, and 1.69% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 7.88% of the population.
There were 1,944 households out of which 25.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.6% were married couples living together, 5.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.8% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.73.
In the city the population was spread out with 20.8% under the age of 18, 4.3% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 25.9% from 45 to 64, and 20.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 95.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.3 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $57,527, and the median income for a family was $62,114. Males had a median income of $48,550 versus $29,929 for females. The per capita income for the city was $28,438. About 2.1% of families and 3.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.5% of those under age 18 and 1.1% of those age 65 or over.
