Turkish Wikipedia (Türkçe Vikipedi) is the Turkish language edition of Wikipedia, spelled Vikipedi. Started in December 2002, this edition has over 100,000 articles as of February 3, 2008.[1] It is the 17th largest Wikipedia based on article count, and it is one of 16 Wikipedias that have over four million article edits.[1] It is also one of the 13 Wikipedias that has more than 150,000 registered users.[1]
In November 2006, Turkish Wikipedia was nominated under the Science category for Altın Örümcek Web Ödülleri (Golden Spider Web Awards), which are commonly known as the "Web Oscars" for Turkey.[2] In January 2007, Turkish Wikipedia was given the award for "Best Content" in this competition. The award was given in a ceremony on 25 January 2007 at Istanbul Technical University.[citation needed]
Turkish Wikipedia has the third highest depth amongst the Wikipedias over 100.000 articles.[3]
