Hello! It is quite simple. You go here and just start typing the article. After you are done, go here List of NHL one gamers and add these [[ ]] around Sundin's name. Next, go to "What links here" on the Ronnie Sundin article on the left and side of the page and make sure everything is linked properly. Hockey player infobox

See the full example on Template:Infobox Ice Hockey Player for the abbreviation of the country. The example shows the infobox for Ales Hemsky who is from Czechoslovakia. CS is used as abbreviation for the country. When using the three letter abbreviation CZE would be used. But I've noticed when randomly checking some entries for hockey players that both are used. --claes 17:09, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Göteborg Opera

Hi! I saw you moved the Göteborg Opera article, and that's fine and all (even if I don't agree). However, its always better to use "move" instead of copy/pasting since that removes the history of edits. Pax:Vobiscum 21:21, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Since Göteborg Opera is the name used by the opera (in english) I think that is the appropriate name. Much like the ballet is called Göteborg Ballet (in english) and the university Göteborg University. Using the actual name just makes more sense to me, even though Gothenburg has a longer history. From the perspective of a tourist it also makes more sense that the town that arranged the "Göteborg European Championships 2006" and houses the "Göteborg Museum of Art" is actually referred to as Göteborg. Single use templates

Greetings Krm500,

I seen that you started working on Template:Infobox Gothenburg instead of User:Krm500/Sandbox2. I don't know if you were using the new template as a sandbox or not, but you should insert the infobox city template at the beginning of the Gothenburg article and not create a new single use template. We've been trying to delete such templates. What you have done looks pretty good and you should insert it into the article and work on it from there. If you need help with anything let me know. —MJCdetroit 20:40, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Moved from User talk:MJCdetroit for continuity purposes.
The thing is that the numbers in the infobox arn't correct and I havn't been able to edit them yet. When I have the correct stats and figures I will add it to the Gothenburg article. --Krm500 21:03, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Oh, ok. It is a bit confusing. How about using ## or XX as place holders? —MJCdetroit 14:03, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

I seen that you inserted the {{Infobox Gothenburg}} at the beginning of the Gothenburg article. I don't know if you completely understood what I was talking about above so I edited the Gothenburg article and place Infobox Gothenburg up for deletion. Regards, MJCdetroit 18:26, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Regarding edit(s) to ComHem

Hello, Krm500. I'd like to just tell you that additions like this one are not encyclopedic, be it true or not. The same goes for these edits a few hours later by an anon IP which incidentally happens to be used by an ISP in the same city that I believe you (as well as me...) live in. A forum is not a reliable source (WP:RS, WP:V) and neither are Google searches considered to be sources. If you find a few reliable sources (for example newspaper articles) that state that many of Com Hem's customers think that the ISP is a joke, feel free to add the information and sources back to the article in an appropriate section (named for example "Criticism"). – Elisson • T • C • 00:07, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[copied from User talk:Johan Elisson]
I'll try to find a better source then, and all edits are done by me, I have just switched to a new broadband recently. I made those edits in response to that ComHem probably has used Wikipedia for marketing purpouse, which shouldn't be done.--Krm500 16:26, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
[end copy]
Where has Com Hem used Wikipedia for marketing purposes? I've gone through the whole history of the article and can't find a single version that looks like advertising. Either way, I don't see how adding statements such as "ComHem are generally considered as a big joke by their customers." helps the article not look like advertising. Good luck finding a good source, though. And you can respond here, I watch the page. – Elisson • T • C • 17:22, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Swedish Wikipedia was edited by an anonymous user that had insider information. Maybe it wasn't the best idea but the company is well know for ridiculously long waiting on the phone and bad communication with their customers.--Krm500 23:21, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Btw, do you know the official name of Läppstiftet? I had one article on my watchlist and yesterday I found another article but with another name. The articles should be merged but what is the official name? The two articles are Skanskaskrapan and GötheborgsUtkiken.

The official name is AFAIK Skanskaskrapan. I believe GötheborgsUtkiken is the name for the restaurant at the top floor. I've merged the histories of the articles and rewritten the article a bit at Skanskaskrapan. – Elisson • T • C • 16:17, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello, Krm500. Though I posted an apology on the NHL team format page, I felt it appropiate to post here as well. I'm sorry, if I came across offensive & pushy. Wanted to let you know, I do respect non-English languages. I'll take your comment (English speakers are ignorant of non-English languages) as a moment of frustration on your part (I'm confident you didn't mean it). Please understand, I only wish the NHL team pages reflect their NHL sources. GoodDay 21:18, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello, Krm500. Can we move our current discussion, off the Talk: Colorado Avalanche page, to the Wikipedia Naming Conventions discussion? As that's the proper place for this discussion. GoodDay 03:26, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Hello, Krm500. The Sabres official website, doesn't use diacritics. Removed diacritics from Daniel Briere. Why, are you starting this arguement, again. GoodDay 20:53, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
For that matter, none of the 30 NHL team articles, should have diacritics. Again, the NHL team OFFICIAL websites, don't use diacritics. Leave the diacritics, on the euro-NHL players bio articles. Please respect, NHL team articles reflection of NHL media guides & official websites. GoodDay 21:21, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
The NHLPA uses diacritics, I concede that. The NHL doesn't use diacritics, (more importantly) the NHL team official websites, don't use the diacritics. By all means add diacritics to the NHL player bio articles contents, but leave the diacritic off the NHL teams. NHLPA is the players, the NHL is the teams. GoodDay 22:13, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
Briere's diacritics belong on the Buffalo Sabres website, on the French Wikipedia. Ah yes, the English Wikipedia arguement (sooner or later) returns. GoodDay 22:15, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
See response, on my page. You can transfer it to your page, if you wish. GoodDay 22:38, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, Krm500. You've made no threat (concering promises of adding diacritics again). These linguistic arguement are hair-raising at times. Can we reach a tentative agreement for now. Keep diacritics off the Top Infobox (owners, coaches, captain etc), Current Roster, Team Captains of the NHL team articles; But alow diacritics on rest of article (example: Awards, HHOF etc). GoodDay 23:06, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
You & I, seem the compromising types. I've been considering recommendations for NHL euro/french bio pages. Currently the consensus is for such bio articles' titles to be English (no diacritics), content of course having diacritics. Perhaps when those players/gms/coaches etc retire (no longer are on the NHL team pages -Top infoboxes, current roster, captains- )then those bio articles can be moved to diacritic (title of article) form. GoodDay 23:39, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
I've posted a compromise on discussion page of Wikipedia: WikiProject Ice Hockey/Team pages format, this compromise's orgin, comes from our tentative agreement. Check it out. GoodDay 00:14, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
I've scratched out my compromise proposal (it wasn't under RFC, my mistake). Seems diacritical disputes on NHL team articles, have subsided for now. Wanted to let you know, I've no plans of moving any Euro/Fr.Canadian NHL bios articles from diacritical title to non-diacritical title. I agree with your views, the NHLPA should be the bio's main source. NHL sources backing NHL team articles, NHLPA sources backing NHL bio articles. The NHLPA does indeed count. GoodDay 21:52, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
NOTE- NHLPA show player bios, with name in English (at Title), name in Diacritic (in content). As should be all Euro/Fr.Canadian NHL bio article, at English Wikipedia. GoodDay 21:57, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Images in Malmö

Hey, since you mentioned that the article had too many pictures, just wanted to hear your opinion on placing them further down the article, in an image gallery. I think it would allow readers to see the diversity of Malmö but still not get that feeling of a clogged article. Let me know what you think // Lambdalix 21:49, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Euro Wikipedias

I've since checked out the Finnish Wikipedia, discovering it's doesn't add diacritics to Anglo names. This is why, I've been adopting a more compromising attitude. I was dissappointed however, to see NHL team names being 'Europeanized' (but that another topic). These days, I'm more interested in ending the Diacritical dispute (one way or the other). So far the disputes, seem to have cooled down. In future, should they flare up again, I'm thinking of bring the dispute to the Arbitration Committee. Question is, can you convince people that all Linguistic Wikipedia's should give equal treatment to diacritics. Perhaps an AC ruling is needed, at this point I don't care what the result would be (diacritics or no diacritics). I just want the dispute to end, entrenchment on either side of this English Wikipedia dispute, leads to no resolution. GoodDay 18:14, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm a little curious though, about the spelling of Joe Sakic in the first (bolden) line of his (Sakic's) Finnish Wikipedia. GoodDay 18:38, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
I think it's cool; how many seasons in the NHL, should we consider a significant NHL career? PS- What's up with the Joe Sakic article, at the Finnish Wikipedia? GoodDay 20:04, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
You should, put this compromise up for Rfc at Wikipedia talk: WikiProject Ice Hockey/Player pages format. I know, I'd vote 'support'. GoodDay 20:39, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

1)No diacritics on NHL team articles
2)Diacritics on player bio articles

a)Players with long NHL careers (no diacritics on title)
b)Players with brief NHl careers (diacritics on title).

These guidelines, should be posted on the Wikipedia talk: WikiProject Ice Hockey/Player pages format. Recommend, you post them (for a vote). I'm not certain how to conduct an official' vote. GoodDay 00:59, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Revert of the current lineup

Hi, may I ask why you reverted the lineup changes that I made? I took it from the nhl website from the official lineup of the last game. The only thing that I added was the IR reason and also I replaced the country of non-north american country by the region or province or state of the birth place. We do it for canadians and americans, why not for the rest of the world?

Actually I just noticed that you just simply reverted to an older lineup.

This was my change: [2]

Thanks, Courascrap 18:42, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Alright, I don't mind about not seeing the province, even if the country flag is displayed on the left of the player, but what about the reason of the IR, I mean, it is pertinent to know that. I'll put that back when I have some time. Courascrap 14:52, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

NHL season template

Hi! I was wondering if you could possibly make the conferance syntax optional or add a league syntax. I tried to add this template to a non NHL team season page but it didn't display league. With a league syntax this template could be used for many more leagues and former leagues as the WHA. Thanks. --Krm500 14:14, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

I'll see what I can do. I don't want to make that template overly large or complex (moreso than it already is), so it might be best to copy it to a new template, remove the NHL specific stuff and add in more general syntax for a wider variety of leagues. Resolute 16:53, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Actually, the conference syntax is already optional, it can be removed altogether. Can you show me what information you were trying to display, and I'll see if I can make the appropriate changes? Thanks! Resolute 17:05, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Try using this modified version of the template: Template:IcehockeyTeamSeason. If there is anything else that needs adding or changing, feel free to mention it on my talk page, or on the talk page for this template. Specifically, if there is the need for multiple championship options. Resolute 18:02, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

2007-08 Frölunda HC season Assesment

I would think that team season articles are supposed to talk about what the team has done over the course of the season. As such, I don't see it to be a list article. Of course, if you see it as a list, you are capable of changing the assesment to reflect so. Kaiser matias 22:26, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello, why did you replace the 330x57 pixel version of the Elitserien logo with a 473x126 pixel version? It looks like an enlarged version of the 330x57 pixel image and is thus rather pixelated. The Elitserien infobox displays the logo with a width of 220 pixels anyhow, so I don't see any reason for the replacement at all. --x-Flare-x{Talk) 09:59, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Hey if you have info on him and want to add what you can that works for me. I am just concerned with the growing number of one line entries for "staff" members. Hi, I guess the image you took that we had in Fighting in ice hockey has an license that we can't use. Apparently it is bad to use images that are specified for non-commercial use only and no derivative. We will have to find public domain images for the article to get it to FA status. Thanks --Mus Musculus (talk) 03:06, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

After reading through all the material, the only acceptable CC license would be {{Cc-by-2.5}} which specifies attribution but does not limit use to non-commercial and no derivatives. Otherwise the image can be speedy deleted. --Mus Musculus (talk) 12:24, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi! I saw that you questioned my revert of a link in the article SVT HD. The reason I reverted it was that Planeten and Planet Earth actually are two different series. Planeten was a series about the environment (global warming etc.) that was produced by SVT and broadcast in the autumn of 2006 (http://svt.se/planeten). It should not be confused with the BBC series, that was broadcast by SVT in the spring of 2007. Väsk 17:14, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

It was decided to keep all diacritics off North American related pages (that includes NHL team pages). Please stop going against the new WikiProject policy. Your PoV actions, could be viewed as vandalism. If you disagree, bring it up at the WikiProject Page. Creating an atmosphere for 'edit wars' is not your style. Please be resonable. GoodDay 20:13, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, if I came across as 'angry', but WikiProject Ice Hockey chose (over a week ago) to remove all diacritics from North American Hockey related pages (this includes 'birth places' on NHL team pages). It's just that, I found your 'edit summit' at Detroit Red Wings a bit disturbing - Sorry but neither you, or anyone else on Wikipedia, can deside what a city or countrys name is. Diacritics rule only apply to the player-. That statement seemed 'challenging'. GoodDay 20:59, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

If you or anyone wants to add [&ndash] to the Current Roster (for captain and alternates), go ahead (though it looks crappy, to me). Just be sure to add them to all the NHL team pages. I won't dispute it. GoodDay 23:40, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Yea, it's not the best solution but the user who added them did it because someone on the candidacy page requested that the article would follow the manual of style on dashes. --Krm500 00:25, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, in your edit summary you say -"the &ndash, looks out of place", he actually used em dash (—) in the current roster. The en dash (–) is not as long as the em dash and may be a better fit for the current roster. What do you think? --Krm500 00:33, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
I'd go with the 'en dash'. GoodDay 13:38, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Done, on all 30 NHL team articles. --Krm500 15:09, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Now, that's better. Cool man, cool. GoodDay 13:58, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Devils page

I wanted to let you know that I undid your edit to the Devils page for a couple of reasons. First: if you want to eliminate the hyphens and replace them with "&ndash", that's fine. But please keep the year format consistent with other pages. Second: In addition to the format changes, I also made spelling corrections and eliminated a couple of POVs that were non-essential to the page. Just wanted to let you know. Darthflyer 20:52, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

I'd suggest adding (for example) this style 2006–07, to all NHL team pages, top Infobox. GoodDay 00:07, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Sweden task force

Would you mind renaming it "Sweden Ice Hockey task force"? If you'd rather not, we could just redirect Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Sweden Ice Hockey task force to Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Sweden task force...I just think it would be better to keep it consistent with the task force categories. BsroiaadnTalk 17:44, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

I don't have any objections. --Krm500 18:23, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Alright, I'll move it now and fix all the wikilinks to it. BsroiaadnTalk 18:52, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

You agreed...

At here on 20:00 (UTC), 10 January 2007. You supported 'no diacritics on NHL pages' (with no exceptions). Note: I could've (but chose not to) post this at WikiProject Ice Hockey. PS- congratulations. GoodDay 19:49, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Go ahead, I can't find a single sentence where I say that the manual of style should be broken. I don't want to waste anymore time with this. --Krm500 21:03, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Agreed (waste of time). GoodDay 21:36, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Your idea

I really liked your idea for Article improvement and I was wondering if I could use it at the Virginia WikiProject? I just wanted to ask permission so it didn't seem like I stole it from you. T Rex | talk 06:02, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Absolutely no problem. --Krm500 08:14, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter

Dear Krm500/Archive 1! You are receiving this newsletter because you have signed up as a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey. The purpose of this newsletter is to update on the goings on of the project, as there have been major changes, and a lot of new recognized content in the past few weeks. If you are an inactive user, you probably won't recognize the new and improved state of the WikiProject!

From the project, Maxim.

Article Improvement

By Maxim

Upon some discussion on the WikiProject talk page, the Article Improvement Drive page was revamped by Krm500 and Maxim. It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status.

Diacritics

By Maxim

In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt.

Task forces

By Maxim
There have been two new task forces started within the WikiProject to coordinate major topics.

Sweden Ice Hockey task force

This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES.

New Jersey Devils task force

This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock.

Requested Images

By Maxim
After discussion on the WikiProject talk page, Serte created a page for Requested Images. The page encourages users to license images for use on articles. The page also has section to request images for players, arenas, game situations, miscellaneous, and team and league logos. The page has been quite popular; since it was created on July 21, there have been six completed requests. There are four currently outstanding requests:

Article assessement completed

By Maxim
On July 12, Kaiser matias announced that he had completed assessing all the articles with a {{ice hockey}} tag, sorting them into Category:Unassessed Ice Hockey articles. Kaiser matias has ranked about 9000 articles in that category, and most were stubs, and "have no information at all", according to him. Everybody is encouraged to expand the stubs into real articles. This effort took around 5 months. A big thanks goes to Kaiser matias from me and all the project.

Diacritics

Sorry about my reaction to your discription of the reliability of the NHL and NHPA sources (concerning placename diacritics). After having settled down & now relaxed, I know you didn't mean it as an insult. I 'tend to be emotional (which is a negative trait, for a Wiki editor). I'm gonna stay semi-active for awhile on the Hockey related articles, for the sake of those articles (and particularly their discussion pages). PS- I'll continue from time to time, to help keep dios hid on 'player names' and keep dios shown on 'place names'. Again, sorry for my 'hysterical' behaviour. GoodDay 22:09, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

You see why all parties hate this discussion, it's not constructive and only leaves negative things. We get worked up over such a silly little issue. Just want you to know that I have no hard feeling towards you or anyone else participating in the discussion. And I hope we all can continue working together with improving hockey related articles. --Krm500 22:39, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Henrik Lundqvist

I was looking at the Henrik Lundqvist article because I believe you suggested at Wikiproject:Ice_hockey that it was close to GA status, but just needed a little work. It needs a lot of work, though, because a lot of the information was copied from the Rangers website. I put a {{copypaste}} template on it because of that, but haven't had a chance to improved it more. If you look at the edit before mine and compare it to his Rangers bio, expecially with the month abbreviations, you can see where it is directly copied. I just wanted to inform you that it's actually not so close; we need a few people to help rewrite it. bmitchelfTF 18:55, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Been to a wedding far away from home so I'm sorry that I haven't been able to reply sooner. I don't think that it is close to GA today but I've been working on it a bit. If someone could help me doing a complete overhaul of his NHL career I believe it could pass. --Krm500 21:31, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Hello WikiProject Ice Hockey/Participant

I am an advisor to the National Hockey League. With your help over the next few months I plan to review and correct any information on wikipedia relating to the National Hockey League, its franchises, players, executives and partership organisations. I am here to provide you with information. Your work is appreciated. --NHLsource 18:10, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

I notice you voted "Keep" in the FLRC for Frölunda HC seasons. Considering your reasons for that vote, can I ask you to perhaps comment on the FLC for Manchester United F.C. seasons? - PeeJay 17:20, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your comment. - PeeJay 22:32, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

DEFAULTSORT

Ehrm, if I'm not entirely mistaken, the whole point of {{DEFAULTSORT}} is so you don't have to set the sort key for each and every category added. In other words your revision of Stefan Holm was unnecessary. Magnus Holmgren 17:36, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

What? It was unnecessary to have both a {{DEFAULTSORT}} and sort key for each category so I removed all the sort keys. What is unnecessary with that? --Krm500 20:38, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I was wondering what your status was with the project. We are very close - there are only 3 unclaimed articles left - and if we all work at it, we could be ready for an FTC by November. Thanks for the time, Scorpion0422 22:48, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Well since I'm not a native speaker of english I didn't want to "claim" an article. I'm pretty good with creating tables in wikipedia so I was thinking of helping out with that but it didn't look like anyone needed any help. --Krm500 00:33, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter

Dear Krm500/Archive 1! You are receiving as you are a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey There's been more new thing going on at WP:HOCKEY, and I think this will help you to stay informed. Since the last newsletter sent out in August, there's been great changes. Read on to find out! Maxim(talk)

This just in:
Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophy has just been promoted to featured list status, while the bot was delivering the newsletter. Maxim(talk) 02:02, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

And I've just promoted Art Ross Trophy. And Clarence S. Campbell Bowl is at FLC. This should be the last update. Maxim(talk) 00:40, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
New recognized content

By Maxim

Especially due to the featured topic drive, there have been many new featured lists promoted concerning NHL awards. Here's the full list of all the 13 FL's promoted since the last newsletter.[1][2]

  1. Hart Memorial Trophy
  2. James Norris Memorial Trophy
  3. Vezina Trophy
  4. Conn Smythe Trophy
  5. Frank J. Selke Trophy
  6. Lady Byng Memorial Trophy
  7. Lester B. Pearson Award
  8. Calder Memorial Trophy
  9. Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy
  10. King Clancy Memorial Trophy
  11. Jack Adams Award
  12. Presidents' Trophy
  13. List of Calgary Flames players

There have been no new good articles or featured articles. Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophy has been given A-Class status due to multiple issues raised at FLC.

  1. ^ The last one, List of Calgary Flames players, is the only one not associated with the featured topic drive.
  2. ^ At the time of publishing, there were 5 lists at WP:FLC and 2 lists in the "Holding cell", as there's been an accepted guideline to not put more that 5 trophy lists at the same time to, "compensate for the sanity of the reviewers".
Did You Know?

By Maxim
There have been 4 new articles featured in the Did You Know section? on the Main Page since August.

Featured Topic Drive

By Maxim

Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:

  1. Hart Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  2. James Norris Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  3. Vezina Trophy (Scorpion)
  4. Conn Smythe Trophy (Serte)
  5. Frank J. Selke Trophy (FutureNJGov)
  6. Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  7. Lester B. Pearson Award (Scorpion)
  8. Calder Memorial Trophy (Croat Canuck)
  9. Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy (Maxim)
  10. King Clancy Memorial Trophy (Maxim)
  11. Jack Adams Award (Maxim)
  12. Presidents' Trophy (Scorpion)
  13. Stanley Cup (Earlier collaboration, very many involved)
  14. Traditions and anecdotes associated with the Stanley Cup (Maxim)

Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion.

FL Main page proposal

You either nominated a WP:FLC or closed such a nomination recently. As such, you are the type of editor whose opinion I am soliciting. We now have over 400 featured lists and seem to be promoting in excess of 30 per month of late (41 in August and 42 in September). When Today's featured article (TFA) started (2004-02-22), they only had about 200 featured articles and were barely promoting 20 new ones per month. I think the quality of featured lists is at least as good as the quality of featured articles was when they started appearing on the main page. Thus, I am ready to open debate on a proposal to institute a List of the Day on the main page with nominations starting November 1 2007, voting starting December 1 2007 and main page appearances starting January 1 2008. For brevity, the proposal page does not discuss the details of eventual main page content, but since the work has already been done, you should consider this proposal assuming the eventual content will resemble the current content at the featured content page. Such output would probably start at the bottom of the main page. The proposal page does not debate whether starting with weekly list main page entries would be better than daily entries. However, I suspect persons in favor of weekly lists are really voicing opinions against lists on the main page since neither TFA nor Picture of the day started as weekly endeavors, to the best of my knowledge. Right now debate seems to be among support for the current selective democratic/consensus based proposal, a selective dictatorial approach like that used at WP:TFA or a non-selective first in line/calendar approach like that used at WP:POTD. See the List of the Day proposal and comment at WP:LOTDP and its talk page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 19:05, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for fixing my little "col span" issue at List of Buffalo Sabres players. It was so simple, and yet I could have worked at it for hours and gotten nothing but frustration. Big ups to you, sir! Skudrafan1 23:42, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Can you help identify this team?

Hey man, I can't figure out what team this is...and you know a lot more about international hockey than I (and probably anyone else in WP:HOCKEY) do, so I figured maybe you could help. Could you tell me what team is in this video? Frankly, I don't know whether it really is Domi and Brodeur, but how long the names on the back appear to be about the right length (not clear enough to read) and the numbers seem to give it a chance to be true. Even if hockeydb doesn't have them as playing for any team during the 04-05 NHL lockout, but it's possible to overlook a couple with how many people moved around. Anyway, does it look familiar to you at all? BsroiaadnTalk 19:42, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Can't remember the name of the team/event but it was a bunch of exhibition games with NHLers during the lockout, kind of like a NHL All Star team. I think they played local teams in Russia, Sweden (Färjestads BK I think..), Finland, Germany, etc. --Krm500 21:10, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Ahhhh, that's probably why hockeydb didn't have it, because it's exhibition. Hmmm...I'm going to have to look into this and hopefully I'll find something. Thank you. BsroiaadnTalk 22:54, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 17:44, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Fighting_in_ice_hockey_featured_on_main_page_screenshot.PNG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 23:02, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I read your response at IFD. I'm really sorry this has been discouraging for you. I know the image deletion situation has been annoying for a number of editors, and I wish I knew how to make it less. . . offensive.
On the one hand, the WP:NFCC policy says non-free images are only allowed in articles, and nowhere else. I'm really just trying to clean up, to try to get all our images in line with our policy. We have to enforce that policy.
On the other hand, I can see why this is frustrating for you and other uploaders. You have to deal with vandals and haters anyway, and it's not like you're being paid for your article improvements (which are significant!), and then you get image notifications about images you uploaded long ago, often back when the rules were different.
So how can we, the image-processors, deal with these situations better? We can't keep images around that are against policy, even if they were uploaded in good faith by productive contributors such as yourself. But we can try to avoid making it seem like we're out to get you. If you have suggestions as to how we can handle these situations better, I seriously want to know. The last thing I want is to drive away good contributors. All the best, – Quadell (talk) (random) 04:02, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
First of all I just want to say that I'm sorry, I overreacted in frustration. I know you were just following policy, but this is not the first message I've received about this image, check the talk page history and you can see how many template messages BetacommandBot left me. --Krm500 (talk) 15:06, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

This calls for an award

In recognition of you creating List of players with 5 or more goals in an NHL game, I present you with this:

The Working Man's Barnstar
For creating List of players with 5 or more goals in an NHL game and getting it to near Featured status only 2 days after I inquired about it. Excellent work. Kaiser matias (talk) 05:36, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
Hmph, you only added the list, I added the other stuff. :-p The flc page is here, if you haven't noticed already. Good job bringing this far so quickly. However, I have another question... my source also has the final score of the game the event happened and the opposing goaltender(s). Should they be added? Maxim(talk) 15:38, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
I also nominated it to be featured in the Did You Know? column on the Main Page. See [[3]]. Maxim(talk) 15:45, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
I have no problem my self with adding the extra information, but as I said on the talk page of the WP it will be a problem for 1024x768 users. Thanks for completing the list with prose, I hope it will pass the FLC. --Krm500 (talk) 16:08, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for voting in my RfA, which passed nearly unanimously with 46 support, 1 oppose, and 0 neutral. Thanks for supporting me!

AfD nomination of Arto Tukio

An editor has nominated Arto Tukio, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arto Tukio and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:59, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Gretzky

Hi Krm. I've left some more comments at your Gretzky PPR nom if you want to consider what to do with it. --jjron (talk) 09:12, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm going to archive the PPR noms including Gretzky in a few days time. If you don't nominate it at FPC, I will when I'm archiving - or do you have another version coming? --jjron (talk) 07:56, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi Krm. I've gone ahead and nominated at FPC as suggested above. See here. Drop by and give a vote if you're still into it. --jjron (talk) 10:05, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Operan4 HDR2.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Operan4 HDR2.jpg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Operan4 HDR2.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Vfhc.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Vfhc.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 02:51, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Spinning Dancer

Hi I noticed you commented about the spinning dancer optical illusion at FPC. Could it be possible for you to support it? Muhammad(talk) 10:08, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Ice Hockey

You've broken me. Diacritize any hockey article, you want. GoodDay (talk) 16:29, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Hm? What are you talking about? --Krm500 (talk) 18:09, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello Krm. Be prepared- There are 'extreme' pro-diacritics editors out there. Someday, they'll pepper the NHL team articles mercilessly. If you and/or Djsasso (who IMO, are moderate pro-diacritics editors) try to stop them? they'll crush you both. GoodDay (talk) 00:55, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

This is why I don't get worked up about diacritics, people outside the project will always do what they want. As I have always said, just let sleeping dogs lie and don't get in an edit war with people outside the project. If you notice someone changing things in a hockey article that isn't from the project. Just wait a few days and change it back, chances are they aren't watching the page. But if you do it right after they change it you are likely to spark an edit war. -Djsasso (talk) 21:33, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

English spellings

I see we have a bit of a 'lame edit war' on adding the 'common English spellings' to the hockey player articles. I've started a discussion at WT:HOCKEY. I am not against using the native spellings of players, I believe that adding the English spellings as citeably used should be helpful, especially in doing a full-text search (outside of Wiki). I don't believe there is a ban on listing the common spelling. Could be wrong, of course. Alaney2k (talk) 22:01, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Featured Topic Drive

By Maxim

The original featured topic drive, initiated by Scorpion0422, has concluded succesfully. National Hockey League awards is now a featured topic, with 24 articles in total. Of them, 20 are featured lists, one is a featured article, and the other three are trophy articles that were too short to become featured lists. Eight users signed up to help out, shown here. The next Featured Topic hasn't been decided upon, and the ideas and organization for it fell apart. If you have any ideas, don't hesitate to share them at WT:HOCKEY.

Re FPC

Hi KRM, re Nordquist vs Pirnes I'm not sure exactly what you've got access to. You say "Do you think an non cropped, better post processed, high resolution photo would stand a chance in a FPC?". When you say 'non cropped', how much more can you get access to? I think for example people would at least want to see down to where the puck is for encyclopaedic value, and possibly more of the players as well. Cropping at the sides probably isn't so important, but this is too chopped at the top and bottom. As a non-hockey fan I don't really find it especially informative for a faceoff (I know that fans of a sport often have different interpretations of what is a really good image than casual observers do). Obviously it would need to be higher res as well. As the photo currently is I don't think it would stand much chance at FPC. Gretzky had the advantage of being, well, Gretzky, and I doubt voters at FPC would be as forgiving with shortcomings for other players. Would be interested to see if there was a bit more height to it how it would come up. Cheers, --jjron (talk) 07:52, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Well the image you saw was cropped at a 2-to-1 format, often used for online news. There is more information above and below the players in the non-cropped version. I will upload it later and then you'll get a better idea of how it looks. But my concern is regarding the composition, IMO the image is encyclopedic since you can see how the players position them self and their sticks for a faceoff. But I can understand if non hockey fans don't find it encyclopedic since they only see part of the players. --Krm500 (talk) 15:05, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the higher res version. It does have a bit more top and bottom, and I understand what you're saying re the positioning, but for mine it wouldn't quite do it. I really think most people would like to see what the players are doing with their sticks for example. It's also a little unfortunate that the ref's hand with the puck is against the dark uniform - it makes the puck hard to see. However I'm only one opinion. If you really think it's up for it, by all means give it a try at FPC, or even put it up at PPR to see if you can get some other opinions. --jjron (talk) 18:06, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Rollback

It certainly does help in fighting vandals so you don't have to go back and edit the last good contrib to revert. It's yours now enjoy. It's the first time I have given it to anyone. Had to figure out how lol. -Djsasso (talk) 23:09, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! --Krm500 (talk) 23:22, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
No problem. You should probably be an admin anyways so it was an easy request to grant. -Djsasso (talk) 23:47, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

I was looking up info on the fire and responded to the renaming discussion. I'm planning to expand the article, and the image you said you would have in a hidden message has not been added yet. Are you still planning to get one? Grk1011 (talk) 20:56, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, but I'm in Canada right now so it will take some time. --Krm500 (talk) 15:00, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello Krm500. I must be burnt out; I haven't bothered to 'hide' those diacritics you've added. GoodDay (talk)

Oh my, sorry for forgetting to pipe the links while repairing them since my edit intention wasn't to screw with you but to remove a reference from inside Wikipedia. --Krm500 (talk) 16:49, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. GoodDay (talk) 16:58, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

From the looks of it, it is just a local amateur team that is non-notable so I prod'd it. But I figured you would probably know better than I. Feel free to remove the prod if its notable. -Djsasso (talk) 22:58, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Who knows, maybe it's the start of a dynasty? But so far their only playing in Division 4, the sixth tier of Swedish hockey ;) --Krm500 (talk) 01:45, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

I've completed the move for you. A hat note works just as well as a redirect in this case, I think. Regards, Resolute 14:26, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm not good with creative titles

Unconstructive? Probably. I would hardly call it vandalism though. Whatever, though. Rather than reading this ultimately pointless message you should probably be off doing something constructive.--71.17.241.78 (talk) 03:42, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Markstrom

Played for pretty much every Brynas team, the fewest game with the Elitserien. I dont know if it's appropriate to say he's currently with Brynas SEL, but I'm not sure what to say instead, as he's been in 5 different leagues this past season. Grsztalk 03:11, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

He spent the majority of the past season with Brynäs J20 squad, but at the end of the season he was used at the senior teams starting goaltender. The last time Brynäs played in Allsvenskan was 1996. --Krm500 (talk) 11:53, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
Then I'm confused what the eurohockey site means. Could you clarify that for me? Grsztalk 00:31, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Yea, the simply got it wrong. Markström played in Elitserien for Brynäs at the end of the regular season, and then in Kvalserien. Kvalserien is not HockeyAllsvenskan's playoff, their playoff is to determine who gets to play in Kvalserien. --Krm500 (talk) 00:39, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for your recent B-class grading of Håkan Andersson (ice hockey) and the tweaks you've made to the page in the past. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to find out his birthdate. It's a fairly glaring omission for a biography, I would think, and it's bugging me that I can't find it anywhere online. I'm fairly certain he was born in 1965 but how I got that far is essentially OR. So that, or if you know of any good sources I've missed, or have any advice, would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Rejectwater (talk) 21:13, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

You've done a very nice job with the article, I think with just a little more work you could get it to GA. Unfortunately I can't help you, I have tried to find that information before but came up short. The name is very common in Sweden, it's usually very easy to find information about Swedes since all records are open and available on the internet. But since I don't know where he lives or when he was born it's very hard finding out who he is, a filtered search on his name, 1965 births, and people living in Stockholm gives three results. --Krm500 (talk) 21:57, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, at least you feel my pain. This article states he was 41 in April of 2006, which means he was born in 1964 or 1965. A few sources, such as this one, state his hometown (and current place of residence) is Stockholm, and I know he referred to Stockholm as his hometown at least once when talking about Kronwall. But, yes, he does have a very common name.  :) Rejectwater (talk) 22:31, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
When you say you've done a filtered search, do you mean there's a single website with all this data on Swedes? And for those three results, there's no way of knowing if any of them are he? Rejectwater (talk) 23:53, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, very useful website when editing Wikipedia. I limited it down to two if he actually was born in 1965 and lives in Stockholm, because one of them wasn't married. I could probably say who it is if the same website still showed income, but they don't anymore. --Krm500 (talk) 01:14, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
What if you try 1964? Rejectwater (talk) 01:25, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Done that, only one person, not married, so it's not him. Maybe you could contact the Red Wings front office for more information? --Krm500 (talk) 02:18, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I should do that. Thank you very much for your time and assistance.  :) Rejectwater (talk) 11:39, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Guideline

Hi. Could you give me a link to the guideline you were talking about in this edit summary? Thanks! Tooga - BØRK! 05:58, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

It used to say that at Template:Infobox Ice Hockey Player but it doesn't anymore, there was a discussion that I missed in early may with the consensus to remove that guideline. Sorry, I don't have anything against having teams from other leagues there, was just following guidelines, I thought... :) --Krm500 (talk) 06:29, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
No problem, I just got a bit confused. Yours Tooga - BØRK! 21:44, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Linden draft image

Thanks for the heads up. I removed the image from the draft page, and am assuming someone put it there not knowing the full regulations for it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as long as it is only on the Trevor Linden article, isn't it allowed? I tend to stay away from the huge mess known as the image policy, but was certain that it's good there. Kaiser matias (talk) 23:59, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Size is still an issue I think, but if you want to I can try to improve quality and shrink it. --Krm500 (talk) 00:40, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
If you know what you're doing, go for it. I don't really know how to deal with it. Kaiser matias (talk) 01:36, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Yesterday I updated the citations in this article to include as much information as I could find, but then you deleted then information. I realize that they may not be the best sources (the one was in Russing so how could I know?), but I was only trying to improve the existing citations & not create my own. Was I wrong to do that? Thanks. JohnnyPolo24 (talk) 11:16, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't notice that I removed your reference, I was only trying to restore the list created by Lvivske back to prose. I'll put back your reference. --Krm500 (talk) 13:57, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Signpost in central Gothenburg

Signpost in central Gothenburg (at Brunnsparken)

Please stop removing this image from the Gothenburg article. I have given the rationale for it and reverted your edit several times now. Should you continue to delete the image, I will put effort into stopping you from doing so (see also: Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/3RR, Wikipedia:Vandalism).

Axt (talk) 18:14, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Please stop threating me, because I assume you were the anon who called me a vandal. You were the first to break the 3RR rule, and at this point I probably have too, and I'm sorry for that. But I will continue to remove the image because it has no place in the article, it's nothing personal, I like your other images in the article (Gustaf Adolfs torg and Lilla Bommen), they were very good additions to the article, but a picture of a pedestrian street sign is not encyclopedic. People not familiar with Gothenburg have no idea what it means, or where it was taken (Brunnsparken). I suggest you read up on Image choice and placement, and if you still don't agree with me, instead of getting us both blocked for 24 hours, please ask for a third opinion. --Krm500 (talk) 22:44, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
You still fail to give any real reason for your argument that "it has no place in the article", and saying it "is not encyclopaedic" without giving any rationale for it doesn't really convince anyone. A lot of the Gothenburg sites which are discussed and introduced just in the paragraph next to the photo, are on that signpost, so it really kind of doesn't make any sense at all to say that "people have no idea about it", because it's written right next to the picture, including wikilinks. Thanks for the appreciation of the other photos anyways ;-). Axt (talk) 14:44, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Add the photos of all the places on the signpost, but a signpost with text has no encyclopedic value to readers unfamiliar with Gothenburg. The only thing it tells them is the direction from a place they have no idea of where it is or what purpose it serves to another place that they don't know anything about. Regards. --Krm500 (talk) 20:34, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Gothenberg map

Suggest you have a look at Commons:Commons:Licensing#Germany. If it was published by the government that looks like it would be public domain, even if the law was different in 1871. Otherwise suggest you look for the artist's name. As a life +70 country the odds are very good that the mapmaker was no longer alive in 1938, but some countries set the bar very high when the artist is unidentifiable. Good luck. DurovaCharge! 01:43, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Well it's Swedish law that would apply, and it's also authors life plus 70 years. So the map should be in the public domain, but on the municipality city planning offices website the claim copyright to all maps in the historic archives. I will contact them and ask for clarification. --Krm500 (talk) 02:00, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

New Linden image

I do like that image. I'm thinking maybe either in the infobox, or possibly somewhere in the Off the ice section, seeing how that section is rather bare when Linden did so much off the ice, and that he isn't wearing a hockey jersey. Personally, I'd like to see it in the off the ice area, as the current one is so clear and has him in a hockey uniform, as he was a hockey player. But try it out, lets see how it goes. Kaiser matias (talk) 18:25, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Re: Pengrowth Saddledome

I'm not aware of any statements that the Saddledome was inspired by the Scandanavium. At least, there is no such mention on the giant mural at the Saddledome itself detailing its creation. It might be worth checking on whether the Capital Centre in Washington was inspired by your arena, however. Regards, Resolute 16:52, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Absolutely. I'd be happy to look the article over when you are ready to try for GA. Resolute 17:27, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
I've heard that it was a trend at that time to use that shape as it conserves energy and is more efficient. There is talk that ours is based on the Capital Centre but I don't know of any references to back that up. When I am back home in Calgary in a week I can look more into it for you. -Djsasso (talk) 00:22, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, it's not that important, I just found some published papers that compare them, but they don't say anything about the arena being an inspiration. Overall it's been a pain in the behind finding information about anything relating to the arena, would be much easier if I was working on the Ullevi stadium (next project!) which is just 500 meters from Scandinavium which has books and documentaries published about the stadium. But yesterday I got lucky and found out about a book which was printed for the 30th anniversary in 2001, but never published to the public, just given to sponsors and such. They had a few left and I could get a copy. --Krm500 (talk) 01:47, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

So far the rewrite looks pretty good. Obviously the history section still needs citations.  ;) One suggestion I would make is to beware of temporal errors. Events from the past shouldn't be written in present tense. I modified a couple instances of that in the history section. Looking forward to your completed product, as the Saddledome is on my todo list as well. Cheers! Resolute 19:35, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Regarding the 'Ian Cole' article

I appreciate your reference to the Notability essay regarding Ice Hockey Players. I would suggest that you (or someone on behalf of the WikiProject) take that essay to WP:ATHLETE with the proposal for inclusion of the 'first round draft pick' criterion. I don't think inclusion of that criterion would be bad; it signals that a professional team has confidence in the potential of a particular athlete, which is tantamount to a favorable review by experts in the field, which itself is a notability criterion for things like books. If inclusion of that criterion were to be rejected, then I would suggest that a note be added to the section indicating that essay-level discussions of notability of athletes in a variety of fields have been prepared by WikiProjects, with a listing of those cross-references. Regards, User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 01:37, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Re: Pääjärvi

Hope you don't mind if I change your infobox image, I have a couple of old images of MSP when he played for Malmö, which are higher resolution and a little sharper. —Krm500 (Communicate!) 04:36, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Thats good. Go ahead, by all means. My player pics are all low-quality and serve as better-than-nothing images until someone with a better camera (wider lens) has captured something. If your picture is outdated (if player looks very young) you can always use image_caption in the infobox. I have a newer pic of him too, but its from the same camera (and quality) as the old one. And of course there will probably be more room for my old picture in the future as his article grows (could be used to represent his Timrå career, etc). --Bamsefar75 (talk) 04:52, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Elitserien teams' season articles

I noticed that you removed the 2008 NHL draft picks in the current season articles, but according to the NHL teams' 2008-09 season articles it's the 2008 draft picks that should be included. Why not use the same format for Elitserien teams? --claes (talk) 13:06, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

It's a different situation, since the players get picked based on their performance during the season leading up to the draft. Tedenby was drafted in the 2008 NHL draft because of his performance with HV during their 2007-08 season, right? Tedenby could be playing in the NHL right now or somewhere else, then it would make much sense listing him in the 2008-09 season articl, but for NHL team it's the opposite since this would be the first season he could represent them. —Krm500 (Communicate!) 15:30, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Yes, the logic's good. I concur :) --claes (talk) 16:09, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Possibly living people

Take a look at Category:Living people. It says:

"Expansion: As per conditions set out in Category:Births of the last 123 years, each individual born after 1885 (if year of birth is absent, earliest period of activity should be extrapolated), whose year of death remains undetermined, should appear in this category. Individuals of advanced age (over 90) for whom no documentation has existed for a reasonable number of years, may be removed from this category and transferred to Category:Possibly living people."

Cheers, CP 16:19, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Iffy guidelines, it doesn't say that people under the age of 90 can't be included. The problem I have with this individual is that I can not find him in the Population registration in Sweden. He is not listed as being alive, but I can't find any death certificate either. I created the article yesterday and I will try to find the information is soon as possible and place him in the correct category. Regards. —Krm500 (Communicate!) 16:30, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
I don't see what's "iffy" about each individual born after 1885 [...] whose year of death remains undetermined, should appear in this category with a caveat added. Seems pretty straightforward to me. We cannot speculate that people are deceased without any evidence. The caveat exists to communicate the fact that the community has decided that individuals over 90 for whom no documentation has existed for a reasonable number of years consists of evidence that the person may no longer be living. Your justification amounts to original research, which is not used on Wikipedia and certainly not on the biographies of living people. Verifiability is not a suggestion, it's policy. WP:BLP is also not a suggestion, or even a policy. It's a measure taken by Wikipedia to ensure that content on Wikipedia in no way harms others. In some places, even the mere suggestion that someone is deceased is enough for the state to be able to confiscate property and distribute it to others. While that's not very likely in this case, my point is that likely or not, obvious or otherwise, information on Wikipedia has the potential to affect people's real lives in serious ways and every effort to enforce WP:BLP should be made, and I take that very seriously. For example, I made a mistake on the Betty Tancock page, listing her as deceased by what I thought was reasonable evidence, and she turned out to be alive after an upset family contacted Wikipedia. Until you find evidence published in reliable sources that he may not be alive, or he turns 90, I ask that you do not remove him from Category:Living people. Thank you. Cheers, CP 21:40, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
I would consider categorizing someone as a living person when we don't know if he is alive to be original research. Verifiability is policy, and we have not yet verified if his is alive, nor have we verified if he is dead. That's exactly why I placed him in the category Possibly living people (description; It is not definitively known whether the people in this category are currently living or not.), and per BLP I would consider adding him as living might also cause harm, if he turns out to be deceased, to family members. —Krm500 (Communicate!) 21:59, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
You guys are discussing Thomas Kärrbrandt, right? Darkspots (talk) 22:02, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Correct. —Krm500 (Communicate!) 22:03, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
I would have to agree, if you don't know if a user is alive or dead, they belong in the possibly living category. Because as KRM mentioned, listing someone as living when they are deceased can also be a BLP violation as it could cause harm to his family. -Djsasso (talk) 22:06, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
By that standard, shouldn't EVERYONE be in possibly living people then? Paul Newman was dead for almost a day before the news came out, yet we still had him listed as living. Cheers, CP 22:08, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
(ec x2)I'm only asking because CP made a comment about this on the RfA, so folks are going to be looking at this. For what it's worth, I think you both have valid points, and I don't think this should have been made an issue at the RfA. CP, I guess I don't see that it's an enormous BLP problem for the individual to be in Category:Possibly living people—saying it's unknown whether he's alive or dead is a big difference from calling him deceased. If there is a consensus that people under 90 absolutely shouldn't be in Possibly living people, it should make that clear in that category's description too. Darkspots (talk) 22:10, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
There are obviously going to be cases like that which can't be accounted for, but as far as I am aware, its for this exact reason that the possibly living category exists. -Djsasso (talk) 22:13, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
If there were evidence of that ambiguity, such as with (the perhaps too obvious example of) Richey James Edwards, then I would totally agree. But where's the evidence that this ambiguity exists? That he can't be found in a population registration? There could be many other explanations for that other than death. For example, Andy Kaufman can't be found in the SSDI but that doesn't mean that he's living. And I do feel that it's an important issue at an RfA for people to come to their own interpretation of this users feelings on BLP, the protection of which is one of the administrator's most crucial responsibilities. I gave my opinion, but I also did not oppose. People should look into this; if they think that I'm wrong, then so be it, but at least they had the opportunity to review it. I won't revert again if someone changes it back to PLP, but I do feel that this needs to be brought to the BLP board if an agreement can't be reached here. Cheers, CP 22:20, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
No worries, just a difference of opinion is all. To me unless there is a definitive date of death then you must assume within reason that they still may be alive, while Andy Kaufman can't be found in the SSDI there are other ways to prove that he is no longer living. I think where I am confused by your position is that how is possibly living worse than living from a BLP standpoint. If we have no sourced information one way or the other then possibly pretty much fits the bill does it not? Say they are dead when they aren't or saying they are living when they aren't to me is a much worse situation than using the word possibly. Anyways its not that huge an issue to me. I do see your point and I agree with darkspots that it probably has to be clarified more in the category. -Djsasso (talk) 22:27, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. If we can bring some attention to the talk page, this category could use some refinement... and perhaps we can state the criteria in Category:Possibly living people instead of Category:Living people, which would be very helpful. I think that you're right, it is just a difference of opinion in some respects... I see PLP as questioning someone's living status, which should not be done unless there's evidence... others, however, may not see a fundamental difference between PLP and LP in terms of BLP, and that's understandable. Clearer criteria would be very helpful. I have also clarified my intent on the RFA in the hopes that it will come off as less hostile. Cheers, CP 22:34, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Indeed, and I can understand your view of PLP, but I only placed him there due to lack of evidence of him being alive, or dead. Of course there could be other reasons for him not being listed i the population register, but I would say that the chances are very slim that it is something else then the person being deceased. I will bring this issue to the noticeboard since I think it's best that we seek outside opinions. —Krm500 (Communicate!) 22:47, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
