Italian War of 1542–1546[edit]

If you have a bit of free time, might you be able to stop by Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Peer review/Italian War of 1542–1546 and take a look at the article? You're one of the few editors that really knows this period, so I'd be very interested in any comments you might have. Thanks! Kirill 12:39, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Holly King (myth)[edit]

Hello Larry. Recently I removed some of your contributions from the Yule log article because they are derived from Yule: A Celebration of Light and Warmth by Dorothy Morrison, published by Llewellyn Worldwide. My reasoning for this is that the publisher has a history of providing the public with misinformation and this book appears to be no different. I presented the link to an administrator who specializes in Celtic matters to take a look at the Holly King (myth) article to see if she can add something to it or work it further into shape since the source material is also questionable and seems to have far more to do with modern Wicca than historical accounts. Please understand that it is not my attention to cause offense, it's just something I've noticed popping up around Wikipedia now and then. It used to be all over when I first started editing. :bloodofox: (talk) 00:11, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Warning

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. Rather than reverting, discuss disputed changes on the talk page. The revision you want is not going to be implemented by edit warring. Thank you.--CreazySuit (talk) 22:34, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

My problem is the word "occupied", otherwise your attempt at a compormise is fine, I kept everything but removed "occupied" , keep in mind that the word occupied has strong POV projections, and is a word to be avoided when writing a neutral page. if the sassanids had taken over the native land or the heartland of the eastrn roman empire, then we could use the word "occupied" in a neutral manner, but we're talking about Egypt here, which was not a native land of eastern roman empire. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CreazySuit (talkcontribs) 22:40, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

larry, the wording already makes it clear that the land was taken from Byzantines, readers can make up their own mind about it being conquest or occupation, we shouldn't label it with our own POV projections, one man's "occupation" is another man's "conquest"!!!--CreazySuit (talk) 23:01, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

occupation means illigally taking a land, and has POV projections. Also, Prussian-Hussar is obviously you, please do not use a sockpuppet, this is against the rules, and you can get banned for it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CreazySuit (talkcontribs) 23:09, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Template:Sassanid Empire[edit]

I did not initially see the 3RR report. The template was brought to my attention by another user. I did not think blocks for 3RR or edit warring would serve any purpose here, so I decided to protect the page. That way, a consensus can be formed more quickly. MedCab request[edit]

In response to your post at WT:MEDCAB#Sassanid Empire infobox?:

Problem is it's voluntary and no one actually assigns the cases, it's a lot more informal than that. I would note however that there is a response from another mediator at Template_talk:Sassanid_Empire_infobox#RfC.3F. Apparently not where the real discussion is going on. Your basic dispute seems to be with User:CreazySuit, have you notified that user? There is no mention of this matter on the article's talk page.--Doug.(talk contribs) 00:10, 21 February 2008 (UTC) (Note: you can respond here or move the whole discussion to my talk page, either is fine, Thx)
I was the mediator who posted the RfC option. I will take on this case if it is still in dispute, to start where I'd left off. There are many details in the Sassanid article proper regarding the template, too, and I've gone over them as well as the template talk. If CreazySuit makes a formal response to the case, I think I (or maybe Doug?) will pick it up. From there, we can discuss stuff. Please leave me a note if you have any questions or comments. Thanks! Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Information.svg Hello Larry Dunn! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 2,832 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Proposed deletion of Kachin Independent Army[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Kachin Independent Army has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

lacks reliable sources and neutral POV

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Anotherclown (talk) 11:12, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for May 20[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Words of Love (The Mamas & the Papas song), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Outro (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 12:54, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

March Madness 2017[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
