Bow Back Rivers

Thanks for the additions to Bow Back Rivers. Do you have a page number for Harris (2009) please? Can you also confirm the 2009 publishing date, as I can only find the 4th edition dated 2001? Bob1960evens (talk) 14:21, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

It was published in 2001, you're right. Is there any way of showing that it was reprinted 2009 with some updates? Bow is on page 12. It also gives Stratford (p65) as being first recorded in 1177 and derives from Old English straet, meaning street or road, and literally ford. It referred to where the Roman Road to Colchester crossed one of the branches of the Lea, apparently. Simply south...... going on editing sprees for just 6 years (as of 28/03/2006) 00:15, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Do you know if the 2009 reprint was still the 4th edition, or the fifth edition? If the latter, then there is no problem with the 2009 date, but if it was still the 4th edition, it was basically a reprint and so the 2001 date ought to be used. Bob1960evens (talk) 09:24, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
2001 then as 4th edition. Above it literally says "reprinted ... 2009 with some updates" Simply south...... going on editing sprees for just 6 years (as of 28/03/2006) 20:10, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Sloterdijk accident

As this is a current event, I wouldn't worry too much about the exact number of casualties for now. BBC state 1 dead, 117 injured. What is more important IMHO is to find out who is carrying out the investigation, and see if their website has anything on the accident. The official report will be posted there when the investigation is complete. That it will almost certainly be in Dutch won't be a huge problem. Mjroots (talk) 18:40, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

Broken formatting to List of rail accidents (2010–2019)‎ article.

Hi Simply south!

I've reverted your recent edit, since it broke the "reflist" command.

I was a little confused over the length of the edit, and the content wasn't at question.

Can you look it over to see if there's a formatting error, and re-edit it, please?

Thanks!

Thanks for adding the Railway widget to the Thorne Moors talk page. I note your comment about more on the ecological significance of the moors. The article is quite a bit bigger now (and has been renamed), including three paragraphs on the setting up of the NNR. I wonder if this is what you were suggesting, or whether there are further additions that you think might be good. Regards. Bob1960evens (talk) 10:18, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

MOTD: Decisions and 14 days

Given the low participation in the project, do you think that we should approve nominations with two supporters out of two? And also, isn't good to extend the 14 days limit when there is low participation? One thing is having 10, 20 or more active contributors, and another is having just 3 or 4. Personally, I am in favour of both... waiting for better times. All the best. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 09:08, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

I think the same as you. Thanks for the reply. Happy editing! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 08:11, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

Circles template problem

Hi there Simply South:

How is the archive search function in the circles template that you added to the Olympics controversies page supposed to work? I tried it and could not reach the archive so I put in a direct link to the only archive so far. - Fartherred (talk) 02:22, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
I would have no problem with the preemptive addition of the circles template with the search function. The problem is that it does not work. I searched for "lanes", got a results list with the one talk thread listed, but when I clicked on the title I ended up at the talk page, not the archive. Did I do something wrong? - Fartherred (talk) 23:33, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
It works well for me to now. There is no point in wondering what (or who) might have been faulty. Thanks for your efforts. - Fartherred (talk) 12:33, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi - I notice that you have moved a considerable number of prisons from the format XYZ (HM Prison) to HM Prison XYZ. A couple of points (i) was the move discussed and agreed? and (ii) are you going to complete the exercise because we now have a mixture of the two formats? Best wishes. MotD 2012-10-16

Hello Simply south!

May I approve this nomination with "seven years" (instead of six) and for the 30th of March 2013?

Also I do not know what to do with "The difference between genius and stupidity is: genius has its limits". It has secured sufficient !votes to be approved, but I'm unsure whether to approve Edit 2, which is my favourite option, or the original.

Thanks in advance and all the best. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 07:36, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Re:MOTD
There is no need to be sorry, we all are busy.
We will go for the 7th anniversary party then. I will approve that nomination very shortly... → DONE!
I have also approved Einstein's quote/motto about genius and stupidity some 10 hours ago, ...and for his anniversary (14 March or 18 April). Best! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 17:54, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi Simply south, I've reverted the edits you made to Template:Infobox London station as they were causing havoc with the interchange_note parameter. Everything which was listed in that parameter was no longer being displayed, and everyone of those pages was listed in Category:Pages with missing references list because they were all added to ref group=note which wasn't displayed. Hope that makes sense - let me know if not and I'll try again. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 03:58, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

Enfield Station

Thanks for your message; short answer is no. There's a rather thin book in Hertford County Library about the Hertford Loop Line. There may be something in Enfield Library - I don't work far from there and can drop in next time I'm passing. In the meantime, all I could find on the net was a "snippet view" on Google Books; David Owen Pam, A History of Enfield: 1837 to 1914: A Victorian Suburb Enfield Preservation Society, 1990 (p.6) which says - "Enfield station was opened in April 1871. About sixteen trains arrived and departed daily, mostly for Moorgate. It was closed to passenger traffic in 1910 and replaced by a new station further down Windmill Hill" (ie Enfield Chase). Alansplodge (talk) 00:23, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Butt (1995) shows "ENFIELD [1] GN *63 A10 OP 1 April 1871; CL 4 April 1910. [Replaced by 2nd station when line extended]" which decodes as "The Great Northern Railway had at least two stations named Enfield; of these, the first (shown in Wignall (1985) on map 63, section A10) opened on 1 April 1871 and closed on 4 April 1910; on that date, the line was extended, and the second station, also named Enfield, replaced the first."
Butt uses the "first day of no service" convention for closure dates, where the date given is that when the next train would have called had the service continued as previous. A closure date of 4 April 1910 (a Monday) can therefore mean that the last trains called on either 2 April or 3 April, depending upon whether there was a Sunday service or not. --Redrose64 (talk) 12:38, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
Cheers. I am going to write a small article on the station. I do have Brown as a source (sometimes outdated but still generally good) and something from British History. Simply south...... walking into bells for just 6 years 16:36, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
I'm afraid I've beaten you to it. I didn't really have enough for a full article, but have added a History section to the Enfield Chase article, and inserted a redirect from the Enfield (London) railway station page. Please feel free to tinker with my contribution or create a new page if you have enough material. Happy New Year to you and yours. Alansplodge (talk) 16:41, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Edit warring

Please desist; if you want to remove a dab please discuss it on the talk page. Sarah777 (talk) 20:38, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

I've read the talk page; the issue discussed was whether the English river should be called the "Lea" or "Lee". There was no discussion at all relating to dabbing it from the Lee in Ireland. Sarah777 (talk) 20:44, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
I just want to point out that reverting someone once does not count as edit warring, only if it is done multiple times. For further discussion on this, see your talk page. Let's not have two parallel discussions. Simply south...... walking into bells for just 6 years 11:00, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
