Pichu

Sorry to poke you about this, but I remember you had a strong interest in this one a few years ago. I haven't found much for reception to add, but figured you might have so I thought I'd see if you'd be up for fleshing it out on the character's Reception archive section.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 01:58, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Articles to create

Let's see... I think that Viewtiful Joe is completely possible, but needs more info. I'd say that most of the FF characters are candidates due to the series' popularity. Maybe even Belmont...but I'm less confident about the Phoenix Wright series ones and Metal Gear ones. Proto Man is also a good idea to develop.--ZXCVBNM (TALK) 09:24, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've still got the Rockman Sourcebook and the stuff I used for Wily and Zero, that should help some with Protoman. I've since lost my book for Resident Evil though sadly, so that might provide some issues for Leon. Still reception's a big one for him too. And we both have an interest in working on Frank West it seems.
I'm currently between some stuff, going to finish up Koffing/Weezing and then start on Snorlax...I've still got two ongoing GANs to boot. Been busy as hell lately...--Kung Fu Man (talk) 16:24, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Unseen characters

Yeah but that category is for characters you don't see at all judging from the article's description (or hear, as in the case of radio programs). You do hear both GlaDOS and Ryan throughout the games directly and come face to face with them (even if the latter is for a short time), so they aren't really unseen.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 18:50, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To avoid needing a new thread for it...I think Vietiful Joe should stay in the oven a bit longer. I really don't understand why you put it out there in its current form to be honest.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 02:50, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In all honest though, I don't think it's so bad. I don't know Viewtiful Joe, so I needed some assistance writing up about the character in his games (having only played the original and the DS games). - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Humourous

Hi. I noticed this. Humourous is not a correct spelling anywhere in the world. Can you recheck, then self-revert? Thank you. --John (talk) 12:46, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[1] - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 17:38, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
which surely just confirms that it is in effect wrong, really! Or am I missing something? Just checked in ODWE, my personal bible, and it days don't. Best wishes, DBaK (talk) 17:53, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Being less common doesn't mean that it it is wrong.
And, [2], [3], [4]. Your point that Wiktionary is not a good source also makes the point that, being the only one that even brings up how common it is, that is irrelevant. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 18:05, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wiktionary, being a user-edited resource, is not a reliable source for spelling. If you are going to express an opinion on spelling, it would be wise to have a better source to refer to. I know for a fact that no major dictionary includes or recommends this spelling. It's been discussed several times and the consensus has always been not to use it. If you have no reliable source that indicates this was a correct spelling, once again can I ask you to self-revert. Thanks, --John (talk) 18:02, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Free online dictionaries are not good references for spelling. Do you have a paper dictionary which gives this spelling? If so, which one is it? --John (talk) 18:09, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think I've made a good faith effort to provide sources. Dictionary.reference.com is owned by Ask.com; just because you do not have to pay for it doesn't mean that the people in charge don't provide accurate information. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 18:13, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'll take that as a "no". We don't just need a source for spelling, we need a reliable source. The ones you have provided are not reliable sources. Do you have a reliable source for your claim that "humourous" is regarded as a correct spelling in the modern age? --John (talk) 18:41, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You haven't explained why the site is unreliable, merely why it's less reliable. It asks for appropriate sources, not the best sources. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 18:43, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No. For spelling, we work on the best possible sources and on consensus. Demanding you show me this spelling you claim is accepted in a real dictionary isn't unreasonable. Can you do this? --John (talk) 19:14, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Your argument is faulty. The best possible source is best, but it's not "all or nothing". It's unreasonable because I don't have a real dictionary on hand - rather, this link, which you have merely dismissed as a "free dictionary", not taking into account the merits or possible lack thereof involved in the Ask.com dictionary. If my source were inherently bad, then demanding a better source wouldn't be out of the question. But the source is fine. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 19:38, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Here are some data points for you to think about:

Stop arguing. It's the spelling of one word. Calm down. Take deep breaths and count to ten. Resume arguing.
I'm on New Age Retro Hippie's side. I've seen that spelling before, I just can't remember where. I can't see it in the dictionaries at hand, but I have seen it before in one. It's all dialect really. What is right in one language is pathetically wrong in another. I could mock Americans (and actually do, often) for the way they spell. Unless NARH has a dictionary for every dialect difference in the world, the internet is the only conceivable source. Wiktionary should be considered reliable. If not, then this quote:
Wiktionary, being a user-edited resource, is not a reliable source for spelling.
means that Wikipedia, being a user-edited resource, is not a reliable source for information. As an administrator, I would be very surprised if you held this opinion. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 15:58, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Humourous is used in Canada... [7] [8] (but not as often as humorous [9], it seems). Absent a reliable source calling it a misspelling, it more likely it's an uncommon spelling. Nevertheless, Valve is a U.S. company so should use AmE, no? –xenotalk 17:00, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No need to continue - more of a linguistic curiosity - the article should be in AmE. Humorous is correct. –xenotalk 19:49, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article ideas

Saw your post on xeno's talk page and I thought I'd have a look. While I think that Frank West is pushing it (we barely know anything about him and his design process probably wasn't all that interesting either), tell me what you need for Pichu, Leon S. Kennedy, Ada Wong, Albert Wesker and The Cake is a Lie and I'll see what I can dig up. If the Grey Fox was the character from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, add that to the list too. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 15:58, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:9-zidane-c.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:9-zidane-c.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Fail images

Why are you replacing perfectly good Sugimori art and the Brawl image for Yoshi with these horribly drawn linearts of the characters? I understand the sugimori stuff isnt supposed to be used if it doesnt have to, but do you really have to replace it with THESE? Is there no other alternative? I would NOT want to see all these articles eventually have those things for their main image. Couldnt we e-mail Pokemon and ask them if we could use the art in the articles, and then we would have permission? Blake (Talk·Edits) 14:21, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of Wario video games

Hey Retro, sorry I haven't been around for awhile. I just noticed that you made an edit to the List of Wario video games where you removed a note saying that for the first time, Wario was invincible in Wario Land 4. According to GameSpot, Wario Land 4 was the first time Wario could die-- do you have a reference which refutes this? -- Nomader (Talk) 02:22, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

About Doc Louis's Punch-Out....

Look, I don't want to spark any more arguments between us. Let me lay it down.

The game is its own separate game and is not a sequel nor offshoot of Punch-Out!! for Wii. While the gameplay and features are similar to that of Punch-Out!! for Wii, it is its own separate game. It cannot be attained by doing or unlocking anything in Punch-Out!! for Wii. Punch-Out!! Wii and the game do not affect each other in any way. The game is a WiiWare title that is a reward for Platinum Club Nintendo members. Punch-Out!! Wii is available at retail in a disc.

See, while they play and look the same, they are separate games. Should ExciteBike: World Rally be merged with ExciteBike or ExciteBots or some other Excite franchise just because it's on WiiWare? No. Its its own WiiWare game. Now, I can understand merging Super Mario Advance with Super Mario Bros. 2, and merging Oracle of Seasons with ages, but that's because they are remakes or companions. But Doc Louis's Punch-Out!! is different from Punch-Out!! Wii, even though they look and play the same.

I feel the game deserves its own separate article. What is wrong with that? Merging with Punch-Out!! Wii would also cause confusion among people. Two separate games should not be in the same article unless they are companions or remakes. Assuming there is a Punch-Out!! sequel, this should also have its own article and not be merged with Punch-Out!! Wii. As of now it's fine because it has not been officially announced, but do you see what I mean?

I don't understand why you feel you absolutely must merge the two together. They are different games and are bought differently. The don't interact with each other, and neither is a remake or a companion of the other.

And it's not "strategy guide" paragraphs. I'm just telling how it's played and what features it has. Don't think of it as something it's not.

I feel it should be lightly mentioned in the Punch-Out!! Wii article with a link to the full article. That's how it is right now.

Yes, it's a small article. But does it really mattter? There are plenty of small articles on Wikipedia. Such as songs by musical artists. But they are still significant. This one is no exception.

So please, read everything I typed. I stand firm with my decision to have Doc Louis's Punch-Out!! to have its own article. You read my reasons. I politely ask you to stop trying to merge the two articles together. They are fine the way they are now, and there is no need to merge them. Please reply.Combo Pwner (talk) 02:47, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yoshi picture

I don't want to start an edit war, so I'll ask you for an explanation of the picture of Yoshi in the infobox. I realize that it is free use, which is good, but I think there are a few problems with the situation.

  • The image does not demonstrate Yoshi's color. In fact, it gives the impression that Yoshi is a black and white character.
  • The caption, as far as I know, is incorrect in that that particular (black and white line drawing) version of Yoshi's appearance is never seen in a game.
  • The picture of the Brawl version of Yoshi is now an orphaned non-free use image.

If we're going to use a free-use image here, why don't the other articles (Mario, Luigi, Bowser, etc.) have a black-and-white free use image in the infobox instead of the one they have?--Mario777Zelda (talk) 18:28, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. I know that the text explains that Yoshi is green, and that there is another picture that shows this. I think that that picture should be used in the infobox instead of the current one because of this and because it shows how Yoshi is actually depicted in-game.(You do make a good point in that that's how Yoshi looks, just not in a particular game; I still would rather have art related to a specific game.) The point I was making with the references to other articles is that they each use a non-free image in the infobox to demonstrate a fairly current depiction in a game; why does Yoshi have to be different? Also, please take a closer look at the Mario article; I'm pretty sure you'll find a line drawing there (that you added, as I recall) in the Conception and creation section.--Mario777Zelda (talk) 21:51, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The "don't just removed unsourced items" argument is unsound. How else would we clean up pages if we didn't removed unsourced items that don't belong? Like I said, the burden of adding sources is on those who added it or wish it to remain, not on those who are cleaning up a page. -- Scorpion0422 02:57, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"The burden of evidence lies with the editor who adds or restores material". Besides, maybe the user DID look for reliable sources and was unsuccessful in finding any. You didn't bother to ask. -- Scorpion0422 03:05, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sales websites, such as amazon, are not useable as reliable sources for release dates. A google NEWS search [10] gets zilch. -- Scorpion0422 03:13, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In response to the message you left for Rhino131, generally undiscussed merges should only be done in cases where you think it will be uncontroversial. For example, if someone created a page for the Very Tall Man. In the case of Otto, as a well-known recurring character on a prolific show, it would be difficult to merge the page without someone objecting, so you probably should propose a merge. As for the page itself, I would have nothing against merging it. The Simpsons project previously left it alone because we saw it as a page that could conceivably be expanded a bit with real-world information and proof of notability, but nobody seems to have gotten around to it yet (we're getting there though, about 1/4 of Simpsons character pages are at least GAs). There are a few other potential merges, like Martin Prince. -- Scorpion0422 00:16, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Paine

The reception isn't about the character itself in that regard but the voice. In a later game, another voice actor or the same one could do an utterly different presentation and be received differently. I guess a better way to put it is its more reception for the person behind the voice than the fictional character. If you can work some of those to be more specific to the character than the VA it might work better.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 18:47, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article List of video games cancelled for PlayStation consoles has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unnotable list of non-existent games or those supposedly intended for the various PS platforms but unreleased; almost entirely unsubstantiated, unverified rumors sourced almost entirely to a single site. Wikipedia is neither a mirror nor a trivia site, and games being canceled on a platform is generally unnotable.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 21:29, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately there isn't much dev info in there at all, just a brief Q&A over two pages with a lot of images taking up space, and most of the info is stuff we know already.

Luigi image

Why did you change the Luigi image? As I see it, the lead image should just be of him, without any "gimmicks" like the vacuum; these only serve to confuse those unfamiliar with the Mario series. As the vacuum clearly has some notability, I think that a layout like this revision had would be best. Tell me what you think. Mario777Zelda (talk) 00:27, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I somewhat agree. Luigi doesn't have the vacuum in any other game other then Luigi's Mansion. This could confuse people. Blake (Talk·Edits) 03:09, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The idea of "no gimmicks" is silly to me. Not only does it show a very notable role of Luigi's, it shows his cowardice. It has more personality than the "standing perfectly still and evenly" image. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 06:14, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The first image in the article ought to show the character's appearance, without confusing new readers. Later images can illustrate Luigi's specific roles and personality. I'm going to change the article to the revision mentioned above. Mario777Zelda (talk) 16:38, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Zelda: TP

Why do you think that those 2 links, which do pass WP:EL, are linkspam? They are not spam and they help the article. TJ Spyke 21:44, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikis CAN be used as external links, and are even used in Featured Articles (for example, Super Mario Wiki is used in at least 1 FA and many GA). There is no rule against using Wikis. TJ Spyke 23:03, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your comment: "I suggest you reread notability guidelines...", I suggest you reread what I actually wrote! I did not once comment on the notability of the article. I was commenting upon the references and the substance of the article. My only reference to secondary characters was that having other articles on secondary characters does not justify keeping other article on primary characters. I really don't understand why you had to make such a rude and misguided rant. An editor of your experience really should know better. ~~ Dr Dec (Talk) ~~ 20:40, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

By looking at the new version, sure there are plenty of reliable sources, unfortunately I have to say that aside from that event she would failed notability guidelines. Except the last couple of sentences, it is virtually all related to the same event and her blog is on hiatus. The last sentence doesn't make her more notable aside from the event. Yet you can still try WP:DRV if you disagree. --JForget 23:00, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Resident Evil template

Hi NARH! You undid my editing to the Resident Evil template, claiming it is too large, and was even too large to begin with. I'm fine with splitting it into two or maybe even three separate templates, but what do you think of adding an autocollapse to my revision? In that state a single overview over the entire franchise is kept, but it won't make up for half of the size of any article. I can't seem to get the autocollapse feature to work, so if you agree with me, would you do the honors? If not, let me know and I'll get crackin' on those temps. Thanks, and happy editing! --Soetermans | drop me a line | what I'd do now? 22:12, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What's the matter,

You're not going to man-up and admit your own fault? You demand things of others, but you won't even step back and do what you demand of others? What did you seriously expect to happen by being rude to me? Did you expect me to blow up so that you could get me blocked? Sure, that's a bad-faith accusation, but when you completely abandon the topic after I admit my own wrong, there isn't much more I am left to think.— dαlus Contribs 22:53, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I find it difficult to believe that, given how closely you were following the discussion before.— dαlus Contribs 23:02, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Secondly, your accusation of bullying does not fly. I admit I could have done it better, but it was not bullying. Bullying is rudeness or threats in order to get my way. True, I was rude, but I did not threaten, what I did do is tell V what they had to do in order to get what they wanted; I said that, because it did not meet WP:N at this moment it could not be included. I also linked RS. That isn't bullying. Again, what did you expect to happen by being rude to someone who was overreacting in your eyes?— dαlus Contribs 23:06, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I just love it how you completely evade my question. What did you expect to happen by being rude to someone who, by your own feelings, was overreacting? I don't think I deserve an apology, but you cannot continue to act as if you were in the right for being rude right back to me, that isn't how wikipedia works. You do not respond in kind, you try to deescalate the situation. I do not ask for an apology, all I ask is for you to admit you were in the wrong for adding fuel to the fire instead of trying to add water.— dαlus Contribs 23:47, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Resident Evil templates

The discussion (or at least some of it) regarding the original splitting up the templates can be found here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Video_games/Archive_24#Sectioning

I can see the characters being split up into another template, but why not keep the films on the original? Then there would be a media template and the character/fiction template? TH1RT3EN talkcontribs 04:22, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well with clogging, it shouldn't really matter that much since the templates are usually auto-collapsed, aren't they? But yes, maybe this should be discussed on WT:VG tomorrow. It's late in my time-zone. TH1RT3EN talkcontribs 04:34, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me

I don't want an edit war, Link, but if you're really gonna stick to your claim then perhaps we should ask for confirmation elsewhere. Could've sworn that I've seen "Creation and conception" somewhere before, it appears that WP:WAF and MOS:BETTER don't reference this. Coherency is a must though. Thoughts? Please reply on your talk page, as I have watchlisted it. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 19:14, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, after checking most of the video game character articles, here's what I came up with:
  1. Concept and creation – 44 (2 GA, 1 A-class)
  2. Creation and conception/Creation and concept – 35 (3 GA)
  3. Character design/Design - 31 (1 GA, 1 FAC, 2 FA)
  4. Conception and design – 20 (1 GAN)
  5. Design and characteristics – 11 (1 GA, 1 A-class)
  6. Character development/Development/Game development – 19 (1 GA)
  7. Conception and history – 6 (2 GA, 2 A-class)
And a bunch of other names for the section that only got one or two usages. Three points I have to make:
  1. Concept and creation obviously takes the lead.
  2. "Conception" and "Creation" are almost the same thing, so it's pretty redundant.
  3. Regardless of the above two points, there's clearly no unison between the project as to what to use. Perhaps sometimes exceptions should be made, but there should be a universal standard. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 20:41, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, can we come to an agreement on the Zelda articles? Most of them are utilizing "Creation and conception" so let's go with that, yes? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 22:49, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It really depends on what the section contains. Pikachu has "Concept and Creation" because it has info on those things. It also has a separate "Characteristics" section. Most Pokemon don't have "Creation" or "History" in the titles because they don't have that information. Most of them have "Design and characteristics" because they have what they look like and what they act like, but nothing else. So it really depends on the section's content. Blake (Talk·Edits) 22:55, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I don't see the major difference. But whatever, I'm done with this discussion. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 00:43, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Conception and Creation

How exactly are conception and creation the same thing, and how is "concept" better than "conception"? In my opinion, conception is the first ideas for a character, and creation is actually implementing these ideas into the character itself. At any rate, I think that something like "Character Design" (as seen in the featured Master Chief article) is better than any of these options. Bowser's Image

Bowser's article originally had a picture of him from New Super Mario Bros.. In the first place, the image was replaced by a picture from Mario & Luigi 3 because it was his most recent appearance back then. Even more recently, New Super Mario Bros. Wii got released, which is why, for example, Mario's main image from Super Mario Galaxy got replaced by the one from New Super Mario Bros. Wii as well. This is why Bowser should have his New Super Mario Bros Wii image. It also shows how Bowser looks like in the recent 3d mario games.

ESRB

I don't check the projects talkpage because I don't need the stress caused by some editors (yes you are one). You have not shown how ESRB is not reliable. A company has to pay to have the game rated as well as fill out a multi-page application and video of the game. This means the company plans to release it. Games sometimes do get delayed or canceled after being rated, but if a game for VC gets rated then that means the company at least plans to release it. I will not put the games from ESRB's site back in until I show you the consensus supports it, but you shouldn't have removed the games confirmed by reliable sources like IGN. Princess Daphne

I've got a doubt about this character article. It's not that she isn't with creation and reception info, it's that...well what do you really say about her as a character in itself? She's the damsel in distress. Peach, Daisy and even Pauline of Nintendo days went onto more things and have actual roles in their games, where Daphne is effectively a trophy at the end of the game to rescue. Even Ms. Pac-Man could effectively have more said about her, you know?--Kung Fu Man (talk) 00:47, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I finally got around to finishing the references up to Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels and I went ahead and filled in all the Mario Parties (they were rather straight forward). I'm not as active as I used to be, so it might be awhile before I can get around to finishing this... but thanks for letting me know about All Stars, I was in a world of confusion looking for them. Resident Evil note

I had no desire to move those out at the time. A relatively new account however created articles under their name and my concern was that if deleted, the AfDs would be used as some kind of erroneous precedent for keeping them deleted regardless of the potential of the articles, i.e. if the articles that new user created were deleted and later on you moved the finished ones out of your userspace, I could easily imagine the same accounts unknowledgeable about video games renominating as "previously deleted" or such. Thus, it was necessary to do something to prevent us from that likely future headache and confusion. Fortunately, that new account has seemingly not restored, created, any further articles, which means I can go back to finding citations on these characters from my ever growing collection of magazines and directly adding this reliably sourced analysis to the articles. Shang Tsung VG Chartz

To avoid the 3RR rule, instead of reverting your edit now, I'll tell you here that I will revert your edit later. Now i've read the discussions and I've also seen the red X next to VG Chartz when speaking on using it as a reference. And frankly, I completely disagree with it when VG Chartz is referenced for things other than statistics. It is completely the same as any other ranking, just a less than serious subject. But regardless, it is speaking on his character developemtn, which is a crucial part for any character article in Wikipedia. Although quoting the entire paragraph was a bit overboard, the text should remain there regardless of the use of VG Chartz, because opinion does not depend on reliability. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 02:43, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Now you're taking my words out of context. VG Chartz is not any random forum, it is an official site that has many flaws in the statistics area but the other sections of the site are not compromised by such flaws, especially if it is a ranking. It's an actual subject spoken in a not so serious light but spoken about nonetheless, thusly reception. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 02:59, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If I remember correctly, GameFAQs is used in a similar fashion in which I'm saying. It is used by taking its parts with a grain of salt, not taking everything for truth but the obvious false parts (like made up voice actors for characters) we ignore. This ranking is an opinion, not fact but is usable for a FAC's reception on Wikipedia. We can't ignore a site simply because some parts are incorrect (even though the site never states its errors or states the correction of the errors) but for the sake of expansion of a vital part of Wikipedia(Reception), the statement should stay, even coming from such an unreliable site. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 03:11, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm aware that that is possible, but the circumstances of it could be different. Say, that reference comes from a tabloid (or say, Examiner.com), however, this comes from VG Chartz. The consensus decided is that sales figures can not be used under any circumstance. No consensus in the Wikiproject has decided upon the rest of the site. It has been listed as Unreliable without an entire review of the site. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 03:24, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling of San Francisco

Hi - I think you might have a template or something related to the Official Nintendo Magazine in which the San Francisco's name is spelled wrong. (It is coming up as Fransisco.) I have cleaned up several of these in the past, but I wanted to call it to your attention in case you have any more places you were planning to use the name of that city. KConWiki (talk) 04:04, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question about notability for Spyro the Dragon.

Do you think Spyro is notable? I added some Creation and Reception to it, and put it back into the mainspace. Is it enough, or should I continue searching for reception? Blake (Talk·Edits) 23:46, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Looks awesome. I will try and get some of the In-universe info ready as soon as possible. I assume you are doing this to make a new Hoenn species article, since Rayquaza is fail, and might be merged? lol Blake (Talk·Edits) 22:09, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Entei

I have to say I have a strong doubt with some of the reception there...a good chunk of it is about his battle. The last five in your article just feel horribly out of place in a focus point on the character itself. The rest feels very weak. I get *why* there's a push for more of these articles to be developed, but a lot of these are starting to come out more and more as very inferior articles, and really aren't showing that much real world importance besides "people talked about it briefly".

I'm still uneasy as hell about Rayquaza and Caterpie...--Kung Fu Man (talk) 01:07, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My only concern is that we're only relying on "oh hey usable sources said said something" than "is it important in the real world somehow?" For instance there's nothing really in Caterpie's reception that makes it any different than what's been said for Ratatta, Pidgey, Oddish, etc. Basically it's weak, people recognized it's weak and said so. But there's nothing making it stand out: Rayquaza if anything at least has a better argument as a stand-alone than it, albeit extremely weak compared to every other one.
Having sources that just say something in passing about a character just doesn't feel like it's enough...I made that mistake somewhat with Abra's evolutionary line and realized I was going there with Haunter. Most of the current Pokemon with articles have some real-world weight tethering them, and I think we've managed to nearly mine all we can for them all save possible exceptions like Clefairy if something turns up.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 01:20, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, your concerns do not fall onto deaf ears [though I think Caterpie is a little bit of a step-up from other basic Pokémon]. Sometimes I wonder if we should just do stuff on Bulbapedia, or make a character reception site or something :V - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 01:34, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Our job is to make sure Pokémon articles on Wikipeida are the best they can be. Even if the species don't have full articles, they still have spots on the lists, which are very ugly, and need cleaning and expanding. Blake (Talk·Edits) 01:45, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The lists present the same problem with the fact that there is no correlation a lot of the times - what connects the first 20 Pokémon together? Nothing. The only reasonable way to make the lists work is by making them four separate lists. I mean, it might be huge and unwieldy, but any other way and you lose correlation between the entries. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 02:30, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The way they are organized doesn't matter. The fact is that they have gotten little attention since they were merged. I think splitting the lists by around 50's like shown here, would be best. People still need to work on the content though. Blake (Talk·Edits) 02:37, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think we should get Entei and Latias and Latios out. They have a solid reception section. I doubt anybody will question their notability. KfM acts like articles need GA-class worthy content to be created. Blake (Talk·Edits) 18:07, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mario Reception

Hey, I noticed that you seem to be having a pretty busy "retirement". If you get a chance, I'd love it if you could expand or in any way improve the Reception section of Mario; you're much better at that sort of thing than I am. Additionally, if you have any more advice on how the article could be improved (to GA), I'd like to hear it. Mario777Zelda (talk) 21:01, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ridley Merge

Not to object or anything, but why the decision to merge the Ridley article with the other Metroid villains? I mean, it was plenty detailed (and his section still features more information that the other characters in the article), plus it had enough secondary sources to establish notability. Heck, as it stands, Ridley is the only one even mentioned at all in the article's current "reception" section. Was there even a discussion or debate as to whether the page should be moved?

It just seems altogether unnecessary, especially for a page that's been around for 6 years and had no problems to speak of at the time of merging. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 15:49, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

FLR

Hey Hippie. First off, I'm amazed that you are still active even though you're retired. But back to the main subject. I noticed you commented about List of Nintendo 64 games here. Would it be alright if I put it up for FLR? It looks like it has a massive citation problem. GamerPro64 (talk) 22:31, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sander Cohen

Figured I'd mention this one...I'm not sure if there's enough to say about the fellow, but there certainly seems to be enough reception and some development information. Think it's worth a shot down the line?--Kung Fu Man (talk) 13:46, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you retiring?

I'm grateful and impressed with the clean up you did at the article List of Family Guy characters and wanted to give you a barnstar, but if you're retired from editing, what's the point? So, why are you retiring? You've made some helpful edits here? I hope it wasn't because another editor offended you. Was it just too time consuming? Or something personal? I just am curious because I think you're a great editor. Thank you. Geeky Randy (talk) 02:50, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
