Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Madegray (talk | contribs) at 09:53, 25 September 2015 (→‎User:Madegray/sandbox). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in "articles for deletion" debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

While this is a PROD and thus restorable on request, I will note that we need sources that have no direct or indirect connection to Pebble Hills University. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 03:24, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Please be aware that diploma mills are likely to wind up at WP:AFD. Read this before attempting to create a page about this organization and be prepared to show that the agency what accredits the school is itself a reputable accreditation agency ("accreditation" given by so-called "accreditation agencies" that give their stamp of approval to diploma mills do not count). davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 04:08, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Update STRONGLY recommend against attempting to re-create this article UNLESS it is to describe it as what it is - a non-accredited institution which has attracted the attention of government authorities in at least two countries.[1] davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 04:18, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Done - as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored on request. @Davidwr: do you want to fix this up? It already says unaccredited. I did not restore earlier versions that said it was accredited, by a presumed accreditation mill called IAO. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:28, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Please note, I have started an AFD for this article at WP:Articles for deletion/Pebble Hills University. --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 16:24, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • A post-script and a warning to others wishing to undelete similarly non-notable aticles: The AFD closed as "delete and redirect to List of unaccredited institutions of higher education". This turned out to be an unintended (?) "mercy killing" as the article had morphed into a page that largely showed the institution for what it really was (I say "largely" because there was still a bit of promotional material yet to be edited out). As a result of the un-deletion, editing, and re-deletion, sites that archive deleted Wikipedia articles now show a more accurate page than the promotional page they previously showed. Let this be a lesson to those wishing to undelete promotional material: be careful what you wish for, you may get it. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 02:59, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Storkk: See my note in the OTRS ticket. ~Amatulić (talk) 01:27, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Amatulić, I'm sorry: I wasn't clear and should have been less terse. As I cannot see the file, it would be helpful to have it provisionally restored with {{OTRS received}}. But you are right, I should probably have replied to the ticket as the first step. Storkk (talk) 09:05, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Storkk: OK, I restored it and tagged it with OTRS received. I notice you replied to the ticket. We'll wait and see what transpires. ~Amatulić (talk) 22:22, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Amatulic: thanks. I have corrected the license and will nominate it for deletion in a week if no response has been received. Storkk (talk) 07:38, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Viralbrothers

I'm looking for background information on the viral brothers youtube group -129.62.68.248 (talk) 04:27, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not done There is no such article to undelete. Please bear in mind that Wikipedia does not carry articles about groups which do not meet Wikipedia's "notability" guidelines. Most YouTube groups, including many that have "gone viral," do not meet this requirement and they will not have an article here. Note: I am not an admin, so I couldn't un-delete the page even if it did exist and was eligible for un-deletion-upon-request. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 04:39, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Actually, there was an article ViralBrothers, but I am not restoring it because it seems more like a hoax - there were only three lines of text, and they were copied (including the birth date and the Youtube handle) from the article Markiplier. So it wouldn't tell you anything about the Viral Brothers. The references were one to Youtube (which we do not consider a reliable source) and one deadlink. Davidwr is right that Youtube personalities are unlikely to meet the notability standard; Markiplier is an exception, and you can see that his article has four or five non-Youtube references about him. You're going to need to be more specific. There was Mc Keezy k(Producer) but that was deleted under WP:G5 because it was created by User:Brianalaflair in violation of User:Brianalaflair's ban. You should probably consider creating a new article. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 08:24, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Not done There was Mc keezy k, created three times and salted (protected against creation), and Mc Keezy k created twice and salted, with a lot of sockpuppetry but no indication that he meets the notability requirements of WP:MUSICBIO. You can ask the deleting administrator, NawlinWiki, whether he is willing to "userfy" a copy of the article for you to work on; if not, you can apply at WP:Deletion review.
First, read WP:MUSICBIO carefully, because unless you have references to "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" an article will not be accepted. Wikipedia is not here to help people be easy to Google. JohnCD (talk) 08:39, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please would you honour my request to reinstate this draft page so that I may edit and resubmit it for approval?

I am martinwtaylor and am the forum owner MartinT at the forum http://theaudiostandard.net There can be no copyright violation since the wording pointed to are my words.

Wrong. If it has been published anywhere else absent a release under a compatible copyleft licence, then it's a copyright violation (per the Berne Convention, all works are fully copyrighted upon creation unless explicitly stated otherwise; Wikipedia is licenced under CC-By-SA 3.0 Unported and GFDL). —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 20:00, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Technically, it isn't a copyright violation if the copyright holder is using the words in a draft article. However, because we do not require any confirmation of real identity to become an editor, we cannot allow copied material to remain in Wikipedia without some evidence that it is properly licensed.--S Philbrick(Talk) 21:39, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That said, I took a quick glance at the deleted article and it is not close to being appropriate in its present form so there's no value in restoring it. Were we to restore it you would have to file a permission statement which would then have to be processed by OTRS and then someone would request a deletion of the article at AFD which would almost certainly prevail. Let's not waste everybody's time.--S Philbrick(Talk) 21:42, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
So the encyclopedia of everything doesn't want an article about a new forum that has made tremendous impact in the small world of high end audio since its inception a year ago? All I see are blocks being placed in my attempt to get an article submitted, but no help. I'm done here.--MartinT 09:06, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Because this is an encyclopedia a different style of writing is needed. Recycling text from a website does not result in suitable writing for an encyclopedia. So it would be best to rewrite from scratch. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:38, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Simon Dinnerstein

I respectfully wish to request that the images removed from this article be reinstated.

Fair use permissions were filled out for each image. If In those permissions I used the rationale term "For visual identification of the object of the article. The article as a whole is dedicated specifically to a discussion of this work." please allow me to explain why I chose that option.

While the article is entitled "Simon Dinnerstein", the express purpose of it is to explain the artist's personal background and the style and influence of his art. The images presented were used to illustrate techniques discussed in the article (magical realism, the use of light, etc.) and to show the various media he uses in his work (pencil, charcoal, paint, etc). Since readers wanting information about Dinnerstein are more likely to seek him under his name, rather than under individual articles about each of his paintings, I believe this information should be contained under one article. With that in mind, I chose the above fair use rationale. The article is specifically a discussion of the man and his work. Therefore, I believe the fair use rationale appropriate.

As I stated in the Wikipedia permissions, the photos and art were provided by Simon Dinnerstein himself to be used in this article for educational purposes. Therefore, I do not see a conflict in their use.

I kindly request that you reinstate the images. Thank you for thoughtful reconsideration of this matter.Jupiter3000 (talk) 13:23, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Comment The FFD for all images in question are at Wikipedia:Files_for_deletion/2015_March_21#Simon_Dinnerstein. - McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 14:10, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(e/c) @Jupiter3000: Not done. As stated at the top of this project page, it is explicitly not for requesting undeletion of anything deleted after a deletion discussion–thus reversing another administrator's close. It is only for uncontroversial undeletions. Accordingly, the files deleted at Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2015 March 21#Simon Dinnerstein will not be undeleted here. I will say parenthetically that fair use could never sustain such hosting of multiple images in the author's article. Possibly one, with a proper rationale filled out, as noted in the close by Peripitus, if actually discussed in the text to meet contextual significance. The author's permission for use here while retaining non-free copyright ownership does not have any affect one way or the other on the need to validly meet fair use – every one of the ten criteria. If the author wanted to, he could release one of his artworks to the world, irrevocably and permanently, under a compatible free copyright license or into the public domain (see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials) and that would make its use completely unproblematic, but it is understandably not something many artists would want to do.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 14:23, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In accordance with the closing admin's comments, I am willing to consider undeletion of one carefully chosen image if a proper rationale can be given. ~Amatulić (talk) 04:30, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paris bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user Crisco 1492 (talk · contribs). I know that the article itself was in pending deletion for a lack of sources : I have had attached several links (his website, New York Daily's article, 3 interviews, a link to Getty Images and another article on Internet.)

I would like the article to be brought back because as a photographer, Martin H.M. SCHREIBER has his place beneath the Wikipedia encyclopedia and I have abused of my power of creating this page because of something that has nothing to do with his professional qualities.

I thank you.

The page for AltDrive should not have been deleted in the first place. A google search for "AltDrive" has many authoritative hits including reviews and news releases. The business have been operating since 2005.

  • Not done This is a partial copyright violation from this page. Even if you wrote the original material, Wikipedia cannot accept material taken from elsewhere. You can file a ticket through WP:OTRS, however a look at the content shows that you would still have to re-write it for clarity and to remove the promotional tones from the article. This can sometimes be difficult to do when you have a conflict of interest, so you may want to ask for help from Wikipedia:WikiProject Music. You also need to provide sources to show that you would pass WP:MUSICIAN. This can be done with reviews and articles about you that would be considered a reliable source that is independent of yourself or anyone/anything that is directly involved with you. Some was similar, but now I have added some references and rewritten parts. It looks as if permission was granted for the "copying" so I guess it was written by the subject. To me it looks less promotional now, the old version had the phone number to contact for example. From the number of references on line I think the topic is notable. A copy of the deleted page is doable, but we will require multiple third-party sources that aren't associated with you and aren't just passing mentions or business listings, and for it to be written in a neutral manner in order to have an article. We do not appreciate the (ab)use of Wikipedia for its Alexa ranking and search engine preference. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 21:57, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Janice, the Orangemoody trouble was bad for everyone. The mainspace article at OIKOS Software will not be restored. But I have restored the original draft created by User:Anjo227. This is Draft:OIKOS Software. It is not ready yet, as it will need rewriting to eliminate promotion, and use of reliable independent references. In your position it will be hard to write in a neutral tone. However you probably know the magazine and newspaper appearances of information about the company, and you could add that to the draft. Asking volunteers for help is unlikely to find anyone, as there is just too much to write about. If not enough independent people have written on the topic, then notability cannot be proven. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Holiday Inn Presidential Hotel

I wish to have the article draft back up so I can edit the existing article with credible sources and resubmit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HI PRESIDENTIAL (talkcontribs) 17:05, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@HI PRESIDENTIAL:  Not done I did undelete this, but having read it I deleted it again under speedy deletion G11 (unambiguous advertising or promotion). This was the hotel boosting itself to potential customers: "luxurious Jacuzzi baths to relax in... this pleasant establishment gives off a nostalgic and romantic air of leisure... an exceptional dining experience... our friendly, knowledgeable service staff... " etc. That is not an encyclopedia article, it is an advertisement, and nothing like that is allowed anywhere in Wikipedia.
If you wish to try again, you need to start from a clean sheet and write from a neutral point of view, no opinions, no glowing adjectives, just plain facts, neutrally stated and cited to reliable sources. You are not writing for the hotel, you are writing for Wikipedia about the hotel, from outside. Read WP:Your first article and WP:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide for advice. You will need references showing significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources to establish WP:Notability.
Also, as requested on your talk page, please apply at Wikipedia:Changing username for a username which will represent only you as an individual. A username on the lines of "James at HI Presidential" would be acceptable and would serve to make the necessary declaration of interest. JohnCD (talk) 20:07, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rexnord Corporation

The page for Rexnord Corporation is purely an informational profile of the products and offerings of Rexnord Corporation. It does not contain ad or commercial speech, nor does it compare itself against other competitors. It states public information about the company, including industries served, products offered, number of employees, etc. This page is not intended to be promotional; only informational. Previously Rexnord Corporation did not have a Wikipedia page. Several companies similar to Rexnord Corporation have a Wikipedia page, which served as precedent. It does not serve as grounds for speedy deletion. Emily.white89 (talk) 19:43, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Note: This page was deleted under speedy deletion criterion G11, indicating an page that was irredeemably promotional or blatant advertising. Note that G11 deletions are more an issue with the tone of the page as opposed to its sources or formatting. As articles deleted under G11 need to be rewritten from scratch, they will not be undeleted as-is here; try contacting the deleting administrator (Randykitty (talk · contribs)). Alternatively, you may request the page be restored as a draft or to have the contents of its last known revision emailed to you provided you have email enabled in your account's preferences. You cannot use existing pages on other companies as "precedent" since our core inclusion criteria applies to all pages. I would also suggest reading WP:Neutral point of view, which is a mandatory content criteria. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 20:38, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
