Greetings. I noticed that you are one of the members of WikiProject United States Government that are still active so I wanted to ask you a question. It appears that this project is mostly inactive aside from what the members might be doing independently. I was considering suggesting that this project be pulled in under WikiProject United States and wanted to solicit comments from some of this projects members before doing so. As with Washington DC and the others the project would for the most part maintain its own independence but I believe this would benefit both projects. What do you think about this? --Kumioko (talk) 23:38, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

:I'm hardly what I assumed anyone would consider active, so I'm not really in a place to add any opinions. It would probably benefit both projects, however, to combine similar scopes and try to increase activity. Probably for the best. Leo 07:16, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Welcome to Leonard^Bloom's talk page
Hello. Welcome to my talk page. Feel free to leave me a message and I'll respond here. If I left a message on your page, respond there, and I'll see it (unless it was a warning of some kind; if that's the case, please respond here). I'll respond as quickly as I can. I can also almost always be found on freenode, either as Leonard^Bloom, Saryn, or maybe vonRanke.
I have the honor to remain, Sir or Madam, Your Excellency's most humble and obedient servant, Leonard^Bloom.
Thanks for uploading File:Alviss MAR.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
PLEASE NOTE:
I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.

It looks like you got it right, though if the release of the image was made through contact with the rights-holder, you'll need to contact OTRS about that. (Information on doing so can be found on the page I linked, but please ask if you're at all confused. :) I'd also suggest adding a description box, as seen on, say, this image for example. Once you've done that, I'll move the image to a better name; "Shapeimage 4" is pretty vague. The best, Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 02:37, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well so that you you actually get something out of this, I'll give you the wikiproject ships barnstar if you can review yet another one of my current 5 GANs. These are for the Wikicup and they can be viewed here. Thanks pal and I owe you one. If you cannot review any of them, just let me know and I'll move on. I'm only doing this because I'm scared that they will not be review in time before round 2 ends and If they are reviewed, I'll be swamped with 5 GAN's at the same time!--White Shadowsyou're breaking up 17:33, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll do it. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 22:51, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've given two of them quick reviews. I might do one of the other articles later, depending on my time and whether someone else does them first. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 20:08, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. If you need anything else just ask. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 23:03, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll give you a rest for now. If I get no reviews in say a week I'll be coming back with the remaining ones.--White Shadowsyou're breaking up 23:04, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you don't have anyone reviewing them currently I can just do them now if you'd like. Leo 23:06, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've finished reviewing the article. Apologies on it taking so long; I've been rather busy lately. Congrats on another GA. Leo 02:06, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I'll let you know when the other Type IXA aubs are ready for a GA. We make a very good team at GAN don't we? Anyway, thanks ;)--White Shadowsyou're breaking up 02:13, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Page deletion
I tried to create a page for a young artist who I admire. There were plenty of links to verify the points made in the article. Why did you take it down?
~ ~ ~ ~ chevy —Preceding unsigned comment added by 1954chevypickup (talk • contribs) 04:34, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I deleted the page because it doesn't meet the guidelines Wikipedia has on the issue of notability of people. While, yes, you did link to other websites, none asserted that he would be notable for an encyclopedia. Wikipedia would need reliable, third-party, substantial sourcing to assert the notability. Leo 04:38, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hello - I just created an article for this person a few minutes ago and you deleted it. What is the justification for non-notable? This guy just was the runner up for the Pulitzer Prize for his biography of Woodrow Wilson. He has numerous other books, many of which are used as citations in pertinent Wikipedia articles. KConWiki (talk) 03:18, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Y'all might both want to note that the existing article John M. Cooper credits the subject with authorship of the referenced book. If this is a different John M. Cooper, a careful split of the existing page is necessary; if the same, I'll leave you to hash out notability and proper article title. Fat&Happy (talk) 03:44, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks for this observation! I am going to do some redirects to the existing article shortly. KConWiki (talk) 04:14, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I can't see the original article that was deleted, but if I remember correctly, it was sparse, bare, and didn't give any hint of notability (I rarely delete something I'm not sure of). However, the current article (the target of the now-redirect) certainly asserts notability. I'm sorry for the confusion, and I'm glad this could be resolved rather quickly. Thanks, Fat&Happy, for noting the existing article. Leo 01:31, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to be fairly busy with work for a while, and I'm barely active as it is. I'd take them to WP:GAN and just wait for someone to review them. Leo 23:50, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok then. I;ve already done that though. Just thought that you'd have the time. sorry ;)--White Shadowsyou're breaking up 23:52, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

About the photo of Jessica Stern that was deleted
Hi,
I did put the name of the photographer as source when I uploaded the file, and followed the instruction to email permissions-en at wikimedia dot org with his letter granting permission. In his letter, he did say to contact him if there are questions about the permission he gave - all his contact information were there. I'd appreciate the reposting of the photo. Thanks a lot!
Viajeratisima (talk) 08:11, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, sorry for the confusion. I deleted the smaller picture of Jessica Stern because it's superfluous, considering you also uploaded the high res. version of the same photo. It's worth noting, by the way, that a source link for that photo would be nice. Giving a name isn't much of a source, and doesn't assert the license you stated the picture was released under. If the email was received by by permissions-en@wikimedia, then I'd contact an OTRS member who works with permissions and have them confirm that permission was indeed given. Sorry for all this hassle, but thanks for being patient. Leo 08:37, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright
I own the copyrights to the bettisandrew.jpg photo. What else do you need exactly?
If you'd like to release the image under a copyright license of your choice, you can choose from the selection found here. Creative commons would be the most likely license, but your free to release under any of your choice. Hope this clears up your question. You'll just need to clarify exactly what license your image is released under, that's all. Leo 23:38, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
photograph of Danny Sheridan's
Hello.
I am the webmaster for Danny Sheridan. Although he did not create his wikipedia page, he has asked me to update it for him, and provided me with several photographs he'd like included, of which he is the owner and has the right to use as he wishes. You deleted bassplayermagTH.gif and we do not understand why.
Please clarify. Mr. Sheridan would like this picture to be included.
I'm sorry for the confusion. The image was uploaded under a license that wikipedia doesn't accept images under. For a more detailed explanation, the specific deletion clause is here. The image can be re-uploaded under a free license, and there won't be any problems if all the necessary information is provided. Leo 02:27, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Louis Ozawa Changchien
Hi, would you be able to take a look at Louis Ozawa Changchien. You created a redirect there through AfC and an article was developed there right after, possibly to bypass new page patrol. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 17:41, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the notification. Usually this sort of thing is done if the article has little chance of surviving NPP or AFD, but in this case, I'm on the fence. Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts? Leo 22:16, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I did not delete the article. I'm sorry for missing your request for help, as well. To upload the image with the correct license, just upload the image as you would normally, and then add the license of your choice to the file's page. Could use a little advice
Hi Leonard: I'm a little confused....yes generally...but more specifically about how to create an article and have it appear in the mainspace. Because I'm a registered user (although not for a long time) and trying to learn my way around, I thought the best method of creating an article was to use the Wizard. Now I see it's for non-registered users...yikes. Well, I've already begun that way, so my article Bytown Mechanics' Institute is somewhere, but I don't know where. It's been reviewed and I took note of the comments and tried to incorporate them. The article now shows the following categories:
Categories: Unassessed AFC articles | AfC submissions by date/07 August 2010 | Accepted AfC submissions
With the Accepted AFC category, does this mean someone/somebot will move it into the mainspace? Or, do I do that myself? Is a rating on quality/importance to be waited for?
If I move this into the mainspace myself, how do I do this?
Thanks so much 99.246.14.181 (talk) 00:09, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's a live article, at Bytown Mechanics' Institute. Don't worry about anything else; it'll be done eventually, but for now, the article is live. —fetch·comms 23:48, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Rigaclassfrigate.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Rigaclassfrigate.jpg, which you've sourced to Karsten Petersen. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add OTRS pending to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MilborneOne (talk) 11:42, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from Nettrom (talk), SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot (talk) 12:49, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:AlexCampbell.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:AlexCampbell.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hammersoft (talk) 16:11, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Invitation to join WikiProject United States
Hello, Leonard^Bloom! WikiProject United States, an outreach effort supporting development of United States related articles in Wikipedia, has recently been restarted after a long period of inactivity. As a user who has shown an interest in United States related topics we wanted to invite you to join us in developing content relating to the United States. If you are interested please add your Username and area of interest to the members page here. Thank you!!!
Thanks for being one of SuggestBot's users! I hope you have found the bot's suggestions useful.
We are in the process of switching from our previous list-based signup process to using templates and userboxes, and I have therefore added the appropriate template to your user talk page. You should receive the first set of suggestions within a day, and since we'll be automating SuggestBot you will from then on continue to receive them regularly at the desired frequency.
We now also have a userbox that you can use to let others know you're using SuggestBot, and if you don't want to clutter your user talk page the bot can post to a sub-page in your userspace. More information about the userbox and usage of the template is available on User:SuggestBot/Getting Recommendations Regularly.
If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me on my user talk page. Thanks again, Nettrom (talk) 00:12, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Orphaned non-free image File:Alaska State Troopers.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Alaska State Troopers.jpg.
If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
To opt out of these bot messages, add to your talk page.
If you believe the bot has made an error, please turn it off here and leave a message on my owner's talk page.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.
For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:26, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Al dura stamps.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Al dura stamps.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. --Kumioko (talk) 23:38, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm hardly what I assumed anyone would consider active, so I'm not really in a place to add any opinions. It would probably benefit both projects, however, to combine similar scopes and try to increase activity. Probably for the best. Leo 07:16, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
