File permission problem with File:Azhar - Live in Holland 2004.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Azhar - Live in Holland 2004.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 15:34, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Added template for SuggestBot
Hi,
Thanks for being one of SuggestBot's users! I hope you have found the bot's suggestions useful.
We are in the process of switching from our previous list-based signup process to using templates and userboxes, and I have therefore added the appropriate template to your user talk page. You should receive the first set of suggestions within a day, and since we'll be automating SuggestBot you will from then on continue to receive them regularly at the desired frequency.
We now also have a userbox that you can use to let others know you're using SuggestBot, and if you don't want to clutter your user talk page the bot can post to a sub-page in your userspace. More information about the userbox and usage of the template is available on User:SuggestBot/Getting Recommendations Regularly.
If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me on my user talk page. Thanks again, Nettrom (talk) 16:08, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Please refrain from changing genres, as you did to They're Only Chasing Safety, without providing a source and without establishing a consensus on the article's talk page first. Genre changes to suit your own point of view are considered disruptive. Thank you. GunMetal Angel 22:21, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- I apologize that my edit appeared point of view. My changes can be sourced in two of the reviews listed, and I have brought this up on the talk page.--3family6 (talk) 22:29, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the apology. A long-listed issue of regarding Underoath's genre has went on for quite a while. But a consensus has settled that the band is not screamo, indie or whatever crazy genre that you or anyone else would come up with. Just metalcore and post-hardcore were the only regarding sources. Personally I don't think "screamo" is a genre at all, just a slang for kids and adults to use for bands with screamed vocals (which is stupid) and to further explain, there's pretty much already a genre to describe any sound that anyone may consider what "screamo" is so technically I don't see it a genre beyond being just slang for someone's ignorance. • GunMetal Angel 22:35, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry, are you referring the Underoath article, or the album article? Because there does not appear to be a lot of heated discussion over genre on the album talk, though of course there is some discussion (compared to some articles, its hardly any discussion). I've found that its actually harder to find sources for specific albums being metalcore as opposed to screamo, even though the band is often called metalcore by sources. I pretty much am of the opinion that all genres are made up, they just make classifying certain sounds a lot easier.--3family6 (talk) 23:07, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

I was refering to the article for Underoath, that's the best place to go if you want your say into what the band sounds like. And regarding your bottom line; I think it's needless to remind you that this is an encyclopedia where to learn, not to make a den of opinions or rumors. This site goes by verification, not rumors such as what some may speculate, conductive of letting their ignorance get ahead of them. • GunMetal Angel 23:21, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- What Underoath itself has been described as has only a little bearing on what reviewers have described a particular album as sounding like, so I don't know why you are bringing that into it. I don't understand at all what you are getting at about verification. I have provided sources for the album's sound, and I have no clue what rumors you are referring to.--3family6 (talk) 23:28, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- Those were only examples to get you on track, I wasn't talking in your case. • GunMetal Angel 23:31, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you. Do you recommend that I put the genres back into the Chasing Safety article?--3family6 (talk) 23:33, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- P.S. Sorry for my not sourcing the material in the beginning, laziness on my part, I should have at least pointed to where I got the info.--3family6 (talk) 23:38, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- Those were only examples to get you on track, I wasn't talking in your case. • GunMetal Angel 23:31, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- No, don't do that. Underoath aren't screamo or melodic hardcore, man. • GunMetal Angel 23:41, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Nintendocore
I re-added it, but took into account your concerns, finding this that states: "California's HORSE the Band debuted in 2003 with R. Borlax, a noisy but undoubtedly leading light in the burgeoning post-hardcore subgenre of Nintendocore". I think this should also be added to the post-hardcore page as a sub-genre. Cheers --186.82.60.241 (talk) 05:01, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- Alright then, looks good. Thanks, --3family6 (talk) 12:55, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
As I Lay Dying
As I Lay Dying is not a death metal band. Control-F the article. See where you find the word "death" - if you disagree with the actual article about the band explicitly stating that they are metalcore, try to change it and see what happens. Myrkkyhammas (talk) 03:49, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
- I 100% agree that they are metalcore, the death metal source says they are metalcore, and a gajillion other sources say they are metalcore. However, the particular source I cited has them listed as melodic death metal in addition to metalcore, hardcore, Christian metal, and Christian rock. MusicMight is a reliable source, and in this case the bio is done solely by the late Garry Sharpe-Young (username is Taniwha), who was a respected heavy metal writer, and therefore a very reliable in and of himself. I plan to work on the AILD article itself sometime and add this description. I noticed that on your revision you said you have a source stating that they are not death metal. Can you please send me the link or book reference?--3family6 (talk) 12:15, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
- You should check out the burden of proof article. I don't have to demonstrate to you that As I Lay Dying is not a death metal band. There are, as you have said, a "gajillion" sources saying that they are metalcore. The fact that you found one outlying source saying that they are death metal (amongst a couple other sort of meaningless things) means very little. If we made a list of every genre that every band has been labelled as by every single reliable source, it would not be long before nearly every band was listed as everything from Baroque to Nihilistic Depressive Suicidal Funeral Doomcore. As I Lay Dying is a metalcore band, as is stated by the vast majority of reliable sources - including the Wikipedia article, which by itself is enough to end this discussion. I now consider the matter closed.
- Also, you say on your page that you don't like genre warriors. You also said that you're also planning to "work" on the As I Lay Dying article. Please be careful. Pushing your ideas about metalcore and death metal does not improve Wikipedia. Best, Myrkkyhammas (talk) 17:02, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
- The discussion is not closed, though you may be finished with your part. At least one third party has to join the discussion to establish a consensus. As to the actual debate, you are incorrect in saying that you don't need to demonstrate that AILD is not death metal, as you are the one who has challenged the addition and have further claimed that you have a source. I know that the majority of sources claim that they are metalcore, but hardly any or none say that AILD is not death metal. WP:WEIGHT might apply in this case, but we need other editors to debate that. Wikipedia is never, ever, a reliable source, so that has absolutely no bearing on this debate whatsoever. However, the opinion of a reliable heavy metal music author means a great deal, though he could very well be challenged in another reliable source, though so far no sources objecting to AILD being death metal has been provided. I am not trying to push my ideas about death metal and metalcore, as I am not a music expert, and most of what I know about those genres is from various random sources, and even if I knew a lot about the subject personally, my opinions published on a wiki talk page are not a reliable source. Genre warriors use primarily original research, do not try to gain consensus, hardly ever use reliable sources, and don't try to get involved in actual article content. While I sometimes can be a little over-zealous and/or quick to label sometimes, Wikipedia likes but boldness, and I am learning to be more careful in the way I make additions. Making additions that are fully supported by reliable sources is improving Wikipedia, though often consensus is needed on just how the source should presented and whether it is presented accurately. But for the discussion to move any further, it needs to be addressed on the talk page, so I am moving the discussion there. Please voice any further comments/objections on the talk page here. Thank you, --3family6 (talk) 19:51, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
- I am not going to continue this. It's a really minor point and not worth starting an edit war. I looked at the complete list of so-called "death metal" bands and had so many objections that I became overwhelmed with apathy.
- You should know though, for the record, that I know what you're doing. Furthermore, I know that you know what you're doing. Myrkkyhammas (talk) 22:02, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
Post-hardcore
Hey I saw that you added the template of unreliable sources, and I was wondering if you could give it a check to the sources from the first two decades (which are the sections I've been improving so far) just to see if there is anything wrong with those. Hope it's no big deal, and I'd be greatly thankful. Cheers --186.82.60.241 (talk) 06:29, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
- No problem, that's why I put it up there, thanks.--3family6 (talk) 11:59, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
Okay, I've checked up on sources, if you need help read WP:SPS and WP:SOURCES. One thing you might want to watch out for, and something that I didn't check for, is WP:SYNTH.--3family6 (talk) 12:32, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
I've been also thinking about whether to keep the Guy Peters' one or not, I did some research and it seems, however, that one of his concert reviews is linked from Mike Watt's homepage [1] along with a bunch of other articles from sources such as the New York Times and Billboard. I don't know if this would be enough for being a reliable source, even if Mike Watt himself seems reliable enough as a third-party source. --190.159.187.70 (talk) 04:55, 24 March 2011 (UTC) (PS: I'm the same user as above, with different IP this time though.)
- PS 2: Checking WP:SYNTH, I've tried to stick to the original sources while writing what's been written so far, as well as trying to separate what each source says. I'm afraid some of it may be synthesis of sources though, so I'll check out for statements that seems like synthesis/original research, and separate the authors and their respective statements, if appropiate. --190.159.187.70 (talk) 05:03, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

Notice that other previous touring members are not shown in the "past members" list. Therefore Salas should not be shown there. 208.107.230.3 (talk) 13:06, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- I haven't done much on the Skillet article, so I apologize if I went against consensus. However, an editor who is very active on that page has also reverted your addition with the same reasoning that I gave. The reason that Salas should be shown is because he was actually a member of the band for a brief period, not just a touring member. Thank you though for following through and trying to make Wikipedia better.--3family6 (talk) 14:26, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
Minor edits
I don't know where you get your crazy ideas, but submitting your edit as a "minor edit" when it's merely your opinion that it's not minor is not vandalism. And with that said, my edits were reverts, which by these standards, it confirms that reverts are minor edits. - GunMetal Angel 01:23, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, which edits are you referring too? The only edits I remember making that comment for were intended for another editor who was actually making content changes, but I might have made that type of comment somewhere else too.--3family6 (talk) 02:37, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
allmusic edit
My edit was not an attempt at vandalism! You believe it was misguided. The following is what I wrote on the discussion page... "This is not trivial. Wikipedia pays this organisation tremendous respect, references them countless times (an operation that bequeathes on them considerable financial leverage) and yet has the ability to launch or damage musical careers. In one article, ([2]), this same organisation describes William Shakespeare's poetry in Sonnet #131 and Twelfth Night as "cringe-worthy." In others, the information is unreliable. Is allmusic donating to Wikipedia?" Laetoli (talk) 11:29, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sorry for accusing you of vandalism, I wasn't fully sure, which is why I put a question mark when I said that. But I fail to see your point. So a reviewer calls a passage of poetry cringe-worthy? He's a reviewer, he's paid to give his opinion, whether we like his opinion or not. But unless you have a reliable mention in a reliable third-party source, we should not mention that particular review out of the hundreds or thousands of others. As you have brought your argument up on the talk page, any further debating can happen there.--3family6 (talk) 11:48, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Kutless
Ok so I'm confused.... Whats going on with Kutless between the Metal and Punk band list? —Preceding unsigned comment added by DCcomicslover (talk • contribs) 14:58, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
- The punk list is still debatable. There are two separate mentions of Kutless being metal on allmusic, though, so that one should have no problems.--3family6 (talk) 20:13, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Autopatrol nomination
I've requested that you be given autopatrolled status. This means that when you create an article, it automatically will be marked as patrolled and won't be checked by a new page patroller.
In general, your new articles are fine. Only one thing: it'd be good if any articles you create could be tagged on the talk page with the relevant WikiProject banner (either metal, Christian metal or the general Christian music project banners).
You can see the nomination at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Autopatrolled. If it gets turned down, don't take that personally. You can always reapply later if that happens. Keep up the great work on Wikipedia and do stop over at Wikipedia:WikiProject Philosophy and help out (your userboxes say you are into philosophy). —Tom Morris (talk) 10:39, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi, just wanted to drop a line about my reversion of emo pop. I thought the work you did was good, and you cited the sources properly, but overall it didn't overcome the problems that this topic has had before:
- Allmusic's "Discover music" entries are a bit problematic as sources because they don't attribute any authorship. It's probably safe to assume that someone from Allmusic's staff wrote it, but unlike their reviews the authors aren't directly attributed, so we can't be sure.
- Allmusic alone isn't enough to support a separate article on "emo pop" if you look at the article's history, it relied solely on Allmusic in the past and that was one of the reasons it was redirected. Your rewrite didn't address this problem, because it relied on the same Allmusic source as the previous versions.
- There doesn't appear to be enough to say about "emo pop", based on the limited sources, to warrant a separate article. It could be adequately summarized in a few sentences within the emo article, in the latter part of the history section where the post-2000 offshoots (like screamo) are discussed. Over time, if more sources come in and it appears that it might warrant its own page, then it can be split off (following WP:SS).
I hope that you weren't offended by my revert. It's clear you were working in good faith and I just wanted to be clear about why I re-redirected it. --IllaZilla (talk) 16:47, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- No, I'm not offended at all. I kinda thought that might happen, so I wasn't really upset or anything. I've spent most of my morning looking for sources, and I think I might have enough for an article. For now I think I'll create a section in the emo article dealing with the style, and see where it goes from there. Thanks, --3family6 (talk) 17:17, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- That would be great. Happy editing! --IllaZilla (talk) 17:48, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

- Thats ----ing awsome bro. I should probibly make the final touch ups. I'm surprised that people liked the article so much. I could make a couple more pictures and add the text into the pictures if I knew how. I also could add some more pictures. I've been working on an article on Alexander's Mallian campaign, but I'm not only doing the battle I'm doing the entire campaign.SteveMooreSmith3 (talk) 14:59, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm in the middle of creating this article also. Its the most exhaustive article I've made yet. Im getting a lil exhausted here, but I want to finish this lil project im on. I wanna see if I can get some kind of good grade on this one or whatever. Check it out if you got the time. I think its turning out quite well. besides all the grammer which im gonna hit up. I wish I had a better program than this crummy paint program. I'll never be able to get an article featured with this kinda baloney picture. Put their pretty descriptive. Or, descriptive enough.SteveMooreSmith3 (talk) 19:58, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Symphonic metal
I'm thinking of just deleting half the band that really don't belong there. But I would like to see what maybe you and others would think frist. --Epica124 (talk) 00:10, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
- You could just slap up a bunch of citation needed tags, but that could take a while. Something that might work better is if you check each band page to see if it has reliable sources that call it symphonic metal. If so, just copy the references and past them in the list. If the band article doesn't have a source, just delete it from the list. So, that's my suggestion. I'd help out myself but I'm busy with college, so I don't really have the energy. Good luck!--¿3family6 contribs 10:40, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Deathcore
I see no comment from you or Gunmetal Angel on that talk page. Do you mean you want for the rfc on meledic bands to be over before we settle this?Curb Chain (talk) 12:25, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
- The talk page I'm talking about is the melo-death one. This discussion has gotten so sprawled out and lengthy I'm having trouble remembering which pages are involved. And I'm busy with college, so I'm not giving this my full attention. That's probably how my misunderstanding on the musical artist template talk happened.
- Anyway, let's not do anything with countries on other pages till the discussion on the melo-death list is done.--¿3family6 contribs 18:32, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

Please come back from your wikibreak soon. just fyi I'm in college too. Walter and Invisiboy are going at it again and The Hardcore list is looking kinda like the punk list.
