How long?[edit]

I took a peek at your user page, and I gotta say, I'm impressed. Your contributions are simply amazing. But what I really got a kick out of was what I found tucked in a corner way at the bottom: This user has been on Wikipedia for 14 years, 2 months and 4 days. Were you here when they opened Wikipedia for business? :>  — Myk Streja (who?) 13:57, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for your kind remarks. I think that the current English Wikipedia was launched in 2001. I like to think that I'm still a puppy. --Big_iron (talk) 01:04, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Not a problem, I just calls it as I sees it. Hm, sixteen years and you've been here for most of it. Puppy, eh? I've been here a month. That means I'm a fetus that escaped. Never mind, the imagery it called up was chilling. Anyway, it's nice to know there are some nice veteran editors around. — Myk Streja (who?) 01:30, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

Template:Did you know nominations/Céleste Mogador[edit]

Hi Big iron -

I just reviewed your DYK nom for Céleste Mogador. Good work. I just noticed that there were a couple of instances where the wording in the entry was a little too close to the original source. It should be an easy fix and then you'll be good to go. Thanks for your work. EricEnfermero (Talk) 07:19, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

DYK for Céleste Mogador[edit]

Updated DYK query.svg On 8 August 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Céleste Mogador, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Céleste Mogador may have been the inspiration for the title character in Georges Bizet's opera Carmen? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Céleste Mogador. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Céleste Mogador), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

ArbCom 2017 election voter message[edit]

Scale of justice 2.svg Hello, Big iron. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Libby Altwerger[edit]

Thank you for your contribution but notability of the artist is poorly sourced. At least one information is unprecise (the name of the French institution). Xx236 (talk) 08:31, 4 December 2017 (UTC)

I do not understand what you mean by "poorly sourced" in this context. Why do you think that the name of the institution is imprecise? --Big_iron (talk) 14:27, 4 December 2017 (UTC)

Ethel Rosenfield[edit]

Hi there Big iron -- I've just noticed that you've created a page for artist Ethel Rosenfield. I've actually been working on an article about her in my User Sandbox over the past few days (apparently too slowly!), but it's a bit longer than your current article. Would it be okay with you if I added some of my material to your article? It just seems a shame to waste all the work. You can check out my Sandbox article for Ethel Rosenfield right here.
