Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Puffin Let's talk! 18:36, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The page for Mayor Murphy was changed because it did not reflect how he spells his name. I changed it out of respect to how the Mayor actually spells his name. If you go to the mayor's web page you will see that he uses the accent over his middle initial, his name is Spelled with the Irish spelling tradition not the English one. Perhaps you consider it vandalism, but I consider it a correction, after all should not his page reflect how he spells his name not how others may wish it to be Spelled? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DexterPG (talkcontribs) 18:13, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why undo fact that Nirmal Baba cheated Yuvraj Singh ??

[edit]

Hello Eyesnore,

Why do you feel the change in the section "Allegations of fraud" on Nirmal Baba's page to be defamatory ? The fact that he cheated India cricketer Yuvraj Singh has been reported in the media. Please check the reference. The story has been reported by many Indian newspapers. Check out the video on youtube which has Yuvraj's father Jograj Singh's interview given to PTC news channel.

This recent edit can hurt Nirmal Baba's feelings, so that is defamatory content. Eyesnore (talk) 01:29, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, so you may want to be a bit more careful when CSD tagging, as that article was clearly notable. In terms of your CSD log, you can set up Twinkle to do that for you, if you want to not have to tag them every time. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 22:22, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Les Miserables character pages

[edit]

Hi there,

I got your message titled "January 2013" from here.

I was not trying to "vandalize" the Thénardiers page in any way, I only tried to keep the consistency to the changes that have been recently done on the other Les Misérables character pages (The person who did the changes did not do so for Fantine and Marius Pontmercy. I have since changed this).

Recently, I had noticed that most of the other character pages had their song descriptions in the "Songs" categories and the actor lists in the "Adaptations" categories removed and changed. I saw that most of these pages got these changes, while some did not, and I'm unsure why that is, hence why I made the changes to the pages I have just mentioned for consistency reasons.

If you see the edit histories from the other character pages, you will see that I put the lists back, but some pages got changed again, while some did not. Because "Songs" and "Adaptations" have their own pages (Songs from Les Misérables and Adaptations of Les Misérables), I realized that the actor lists can be added to "Adaptations" anytime, while the "Songs" page has a Song Lyrics link under its External Links section. Therefore, I decided to correct the other character pages that were missed.

Thank you. 205.189.94.11 (talk) 00:37, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Contested speedy

[edit]

Hi there. Just so you know, I've contested your A1 speedy at Jonathon lack, as A1 only applies in unequivocal cases. I assure you, you have my complete empathy, as someone who also started out working on RCP and NPP, and who's very familiar with that feeling of (we just need to delete it ALL!) that you sometimes get after tagging page after page after page. So sometimes you sorta get tunnel vision, and find yourself clicking the CSD button over and over again. So I perfectly understand. Remember that AFD can be just as exciting as CSD (moreso, in fact, because you get to fight off sockpupets and learn all sorts of bits of obscure policy), so when in doubt, it's the way to go. In this case, though, I've BLPPRODded the article, as it currently cites no sources. All the best. — Francophonie&Androphilie(Je vous invite à me parler) 22:56, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there EYESNORE, AL from Portugal here,

my edit was not controvesial at all and it does not need a source (or if so, then the other user before me would also have to provide one no?), this player already has a field for Sporting de Gijón B, which is the reserve team of Sporting de Gijón, the parent club thus. No need for a SECOND field with the same club, it does not have to do anything with a transfer between teams/organizations.

Attentively (and i still find it quite baffling an edit like this could be mistaken for VANDALISM as the edit summary says)- --AL (talk) 01:30, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Contested speedy

[edit]

Hello Eyesnore. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know however, regarding SideCar (company), that tagging articles for speedy deletion moments after creation as lacking context (CSD A1), content (CSD A3) and articles created through the Article Wizard, is too fast. It's best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks.

More importantly, A1 does not apply in this case because there is in fact sufficient context to identify the subject of the article: "SideCar is a technology company based in San Francisco, CA." The company may not be notable, but I think we should give the author time to develop it first. That's why it's best to patrol new pages from the back of the queue. You can always nominate it for deletion once the article has stabilized. Give it a few weeks. Happy editing. Braincricket (talk) 03:52, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Eyesnore! I just wanted to let you know that I declined your speedy deletion nomination of this page. Looking at the Wikipedia article that was linked to, I believe the author intended it to be a redirect, so I fixed the intended redirect, rather than delete it. Redirecting is actually a pretty useful trick as an alternative to deletion; please keep it in mind, especially for things like this. (Just in case you don't know how to make a redirect, it's pretty easy: just replace all the content of a page with #REDIRECT [[Title_of_redirect_target]].) Thanks! Just a reminder

[edit]

Please make sure to provide an edit summary if reverting or undoing users for anything other than obvious vandalism or defamation. For instance, while I know that Bloomex has had a long history of issues with promotion, another reviewer might see your unexplained revert as problematic. No worries, and we all forget every now and then, but just thought I'd put that out there. — Francophonie&Androphilie(Je vous invite à me parler) 01:37, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Eyesnore, Please put my comment on Lord Filkin back now! You have no right to decide for anyone what is "constructive" or not. You are completely out of line. Wikipedia is all about the free flow of sound information, so please do some actual work on this website. Thanks. Stephen — Preceding unsigned comment added by Duff Step (talkcontribs) 01:51, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok - Francophonie&Androphilie has pointed out that my comments above could be construed as a personal and unnecessary attack, so I apologise. However, does that change the substance of my original complaint - what right does Eyesnore have to delete a comment that is properly cited, formatted and accurate. I would very much appreciate an answer to this question. Thanks. Stephen — Preceding unsigned comment added by Duff Step (talkcontribs) 02:17, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I know that you reverted this edit, with the edit summary "not enough", but I still thought it worth pointing out to you that the page you linked to says "This article uses material from the Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Laundronauts". It is a very common mistake to assume that any Wikipedia article that looks like another web page is copied from it, but in fact copying from Wikipedia is probably more common. Despite the claims of the IP editor, I can find no evidence anywhere that the Wikipedia article is a copyright infringement. As I said, I know that this time you self-reverted, but it is necessary to be on guard against similar mistakes. JamesBWatson (talk) 23:31, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not attacking anyone, but your assumption can be perceived as an attack. I am done editing. Good day Sir! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.112.88.67 (talk) 23:50, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Moreover, I see that you have been advised to use edit summary explanations for everything besides obvious vandalism reverts. My edit was not vandalism (i.e. a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia), and you had no reason to assume it was. Therefore, you should have given some kind of explanation in the edit summary. You know, mindless reverters never become admins. Just in case you're trying to rack up revert edits for a future run. Sorry to have to tell you this, but better now than later. --84.44.231.58 (talk) 06:10, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dominic_Purcell Reverted?

[edit]

Hey there. You reverted one of my changes to the page Dominic_Purcell. I don't understand why? The table in question is the tv series chart of this actor. I put a link for each TV show in the chart, as well as slightly formatted it better to be easier on the eyes. I don't see how making a hyperlink in a table is Vandalism. Every actor has this. Thanks for the help.

Reversion

[edit]

Hi there. You reverted my edit of the Stockbridge talk page, giving in a mechanized notification, "without explaining why". I did explain why - if you actually take the time to see what I removed, it was some promotional material about the city and not about improving the article. This is classic fluff material, non-notable, non-cited, that needs to be removed - even from talk pages. Please use more caution when reverting IP edits. Ving Rhames reversion on January 2013

[edit]

Referring to this reversion, I added the line "Lemmon died less than three years later," because I felt it added emphasis on Ving Rhames' actions at the 1998 Golden Globe Awards. Being as close to his death as he was, and likely already beginning his battle with cancer at the time, he was emotionally overwhelmed at the ceremony, and, as noted in the article, it had a clear impact on his (remaining) life, as a whole. Because of this, Ving Rhames was lauded for his actions, and was likely just as emotionally stricken due to his fairly recent death. The sentence, albeit short, provides a very interesting insight into the story behind the award, and although it may not seem related to the article itself, I feel it's important context for the story as a whole (which is only told on the Ving Rhames page). To remove the sentence would deem the story incomplete, in my eyes. (rct2guy (talk) 02:38, 22 January 2013 (UTC))[reply]

Thank-you for reverting the recent vandalism on this page. The person who did that should be banned from Wikipedia forever, immediately! Can you help me do that? He did some other nonsense on the "OCIC" page a couple of months ago that I was able to revert. But, I also suspect that this person was the one to delete almost all the attribution on that page in the "1990s" section and "2000s" section. Seriously. I have yet to reconstruct that on the page. Congratulations, Eyesnore! You're receiving this barnstar because you recently crossed the 1,000 classification threshold using STiki. We thank you both for your contributions to Wikipedia at-large and your use of the tool. We hope you continue your ascent up the leaderboard and stay in touch at the talk page. Thank you and keep up the good work! West.andrew.g (talk) 05:11, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that the anon editing the Beckah Shae article is the subject. Perhaps a bit of latitude with the new editor may be in order. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 02:32, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Eyesnore, How do i make a reliable source on the Oscar Priego page, let me know, thanks! User talk:Rebafan7, 12:06, February 2013 (UTC)

This is why I nominated the page for deletion as a biography of a living person that appears to have no references. All biographies of living people that are created after March 2010 must have sources. I will remove the tag if you provide a source to this biographical article. You can cite a source adding <ref></ref> formatting to a page. Cheers, Eyesnore 06:15, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Summaries

[edit]

Hey, Eyesnore. :) I've been really impressed by a lot of the work you've been doing - allow me to "second" all of those barnstars above. A small point, though... I feel like I keep on noticing times you haven't given a summary when reverting non-vandalistic edits. I don't recall where I've seen it in the past, but today, for instance, I notice it here. Obviously it's not that big of a deal (you're not even the first person to do it on that article recently), but it really helps subsequent editors out (especially on PC-protected articles), when trying to see what's happened in the past. It's also, strictly speaking, a misapplication of rollback or the reviewer interface, though seeing as you already have more edits than I do, I don't think that I, nor anyone else, can really complain about the efficiency of your counter-vandalism work here. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 03:49, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect

[edit]

This was not misuse. Look at the edits and you'll see it's an edit war where the IP editor is actually correct. If you wanted to do something productive you could have given both editors a warning for edit warring. Drmies (talk) 20:30, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Eyesnore. Thanks for your message on my talk page. When I first tagged the page for speedy deletion, Criterion A1 was applicable. Hsnbapi12 has since edited the page adding sufficient context to identify the subject of the article and I agree that deletion per WP:BLPPROD is more appropriate at present. An explanation

[edit]

Hello, Eyesnore

I think I owe you an explanation about this fiasco. Actually, I was trying to revert 200.118.157.188's vandalism but somehow, your revert didn't show up on my log. I am sorry for any inconvenience that I may have caused.

Chicken Salad deletion?

[edit]

Hi eyesnore. I thought the "chicken salad" page was missing a good recipe. So I youtube searched, found one I really liked, and tried to help out. In the guidelines, which I read, it says "There is no blanket ban on linking to YouTube or other user-submitted video sites, as long as the links abide by the guidelines on this page" and the guidelines mention nothing against what is contained in this video. However, perhaps I missed something, can you please explain what is wrong with posting a video recipe to help this page? For ppl like me who are looking for how to make a good chicken salad? 24.35.138.150 (talk) 16:35, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is because of the external links policy. Eyesnore (pending changes) 16:43, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is what I am referencing, I've read everything and I don't understand where the link I posted defies any of the guidelines? Can you please explain specifically what the problem is? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.35.138.150 (talk) 16:48, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jayjg

[edit]

You can remove whatever you think is a personal attack and leave the rest in, instead of deleting my entire post, as it contains (in my humble opinion) a logical and well-structured argument against an administrator who apparently has some kind of personal bias against my good-faith edits.

If you've been wondering why Wikipedia has such an abysmal participation rate among users who read the site, it's because of people like you and Jayjg who constantly attack new/unestablished users and assume the worst in everyone. In reality, people are just trying to help out the site instead of being a troll or vandal (that word is tossed around way too often here) 98.210.60.236 (talk) 22:57, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

CSR Racing Speedy Deletion

[edit]

Hello, I do not understand why you marked this page for deletion. This is a game used by more than 2 million people, and I decided to create a page for it. However, two seconds into my edit, it was marked for deletion. I was still adding, deleting, and revising, but your "anti- vandalism" policies decided that you would try to delete my article. I'd say that you are the real vandal, deleting others' work in their process. I have made the necessary changes and hope that this doesn't happen again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Holden Barnes (talkcontribs) 01:24, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Simon's Cat

[edit]

My edit wasn't vandalism. I just found out about this Simon's Cat, thought it was cute, and went to Wikipedia for more information. I saw that the latest video wasn't included in list, so did my best to add it, fixing a couple of mistakes I made along the way. My edits had a link in them that directed people to the same website that the links above sent them to, proving that there was indeed a new video added to the Simon's Cat collection. I tried to copy the style of the entries above mine to the best of my abilities, but I guess in the eyes of the Wikipedia Nazis, I failed miserably. Therefore, I will leave the decision to revert or not to revert to you, as I am obviously unfit for the job. 72.193.217.157 (talk) 12:41, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I took your expand from other language tag off - it can't be. This is a translation of the Swedish article with nothing left over. I've taken it to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gustaf-Otto Adelborg because I'm not convinced there is notability. I'd tag the Swedish article too, if I knew how. Hello Eyesnore. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Sant Gurbachan Das Una Sahibwale to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. I'm prepared to AGF that this is not a hoax and there was such a person, but it seems fairly clear that there are not the sources for an article. [edit]

Hi Eyesnore, I felt your text on a single version of this song, while fine in itself, completely dominated the topic, which is the actual song. I'd be be fine if it was mentioned briefly as a version of the song (there are countless others) and if it was linked to your comprehensive text about this version on another page. But the detail of this version should not be on the song's own page.

A tag has been placed on File:Triangle piercing vulva.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
