South City Mall is a large shopping mall in Kolkata, India. Located on Prince Anwar Shah Road near the middle class suburbs of Jodhpur Park, Lake Gardens, Dhakuria and Golf Green, it has been open since 16 January 2008.[1] It has a Gross Leasable Area of 650,000 sq ft (60,000 m2) and parking for 2,500 vehicles.[2]

The mall was designed by retail specialist ICS Bentel Associates and city architect Dulal Mukherjee. Anchored by major stores like Pantaloons, Spencer's Retail and Shoppers Stop, there are also 134 other stores, a food court on the top floor and a INOX multiplex.

The adjoining South City Township, with four 35-storey and one 15-storey residential skyscrapers, was built by the same developer - South City Projects.[3][4]

Accident[edit]

One person was killed and three others critically injured, in an accident involving four workers who were putting up advertising banners and the ladder on which they were standing on collapsed.The incident occurred in January 2014. [5]
