User:Kew Gardens 613/Bus and Railroad-Related Projects

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This subpage is my list of bus and railroad-related projects so far. It will be expanded whenever I write a new page, or when I have a new idea for a project to work on.

Articles I've Created[edit]

Some of these were totally new, while many of them were just redirects that I turned into articles.

Articles that I am especially proud of are in BOLD

Long Island Rail Road[edit]

These articles have almost no information, and should be expanded when possible. These are all stubs, or were later merged into other articles. Proper citations should be used, and archives should be consulted for more information. There are copyright violations. I was a younger and less experienced editor then. If you can help edit them, it would be appreciated.

Articles that I have helped with to achieve Good Article status[edit]

Good Article Symbol

I have worked with on some of these articles with Epicgenius and Tdorante10 to make them Good Articles. Their work, and my work, is not necessarily only on the Good Article review process, but in preparing for the GAN. I have not nominated all of these articles. I also thank Epicgenius for the DYK nominations that he has done for several of these articles. Following the practice of Tdorante10, the articles that I am especially proud of are in BOLD. I will go back through these articles to address issues that should have been corrected in the GAR process, such as the use of ALLCAPS in citations, the use of SPS in limited applications, the incorrect use of citeweb for newspaper articles, lack of citations in infoboxes, missing issn, and url-access parameters, and other issues. Articles that need to be cleaned up to maintain GA status are underlined.

Various station articles, adding references and updating them based on changes in service patterns.

Articles that I want to become Good Articles[edit]

Some of these articles would require little work to be done, but others would need historical information filled in or would require additional references. Some are very close to being GA quality and therefore I will/have nominated them to push them over the edge, for others it is clear what needs to be done (better sources, additional historical information), and for others, they will complete a set of articles (like stations on the IND Queens Boulevard Line).

Tasks[edit]

Here are some tasks awaiting attention:
  • Collaborate : * WP:NYCPT articles • Other rapid transit articles
  • Copyedit : * IND Eighth Avenue Line – This article is in lousy condition. There is little information on the history of the line. The fights involving its operation and its construction are not in the article. Modern developments are not here, and the line's significance cannot be determined from reading the article. References need to be provided for the section on the Worth Street Line. A better description of the line should be written. A project is underway to install Communications Based Train-Control. The section between 59th Street and High Street will have the changes. New substations will be built at Canal Street and 34th Street to improve service. Construction will begin at 34th Street in October 2019 and at Canal Street in September 2019.
    • North Shore Branch – The article needs to include the plan to have Bus Rapid Transit installed along the right-of-way. The EIS is being done and will be released in 2019
    [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
  • Expand : 14th Street–Union Square (New York City Subway) • 63rd Drive–Rego Park (IND Queens Boulevard Line)–Do more work on the provision for the connection to the Rockaway Beach Branch and on its impact on the neighborhood of Rego Park. • Archer Avenue Lines • Bedford–Nostrand Avenues (IND Crosstown Line) • Broad Street (BMT Nassau Street Line) • Chrystie Street Connection – Describe the difficult construction, the planning, its significance, and better detail its impact on service, and its relation to other plans • Harold Interlocking • Hell Gate Bridge • Jamaica Center–Parsons/Archer (Archer Avenue Lines) • Jamaica–Van Wyck (IND Archer Avenue Line) • Kew Gardens Interchange • Q10 (New York City bus) • Q25 and Q34 buses • Q46 (New York City bus) • Secaucus Junction • Sutphin Boulevard–Archer Avenue–JFK Airport (Archer Avenue Lines) •IRT New Lots Line
