Revision as of 06:19, 29 August 2007

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Semi-protect to allow the article to 'recover' from a series of vandalizing edits from multiple users that had gone unnoticed. Eliz81(talk)(contribs) 06:16, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protect - Edit warring between an IP and User:Neutralhomer over WP:NOT#DIR. JPG-GR 06:15, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    semi-protect - IP vandalism heightened over the past week. Eliz81(talk)(contribs) 06:09, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. --DarkFalls talk 06:19, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

semi-protect - IP vandalism. Suggest List of Greek mythological figures article be put on semi-protect for unregistered and newly registered users for one month. I and others have undone vandalism changes. mjwilson (Talk/Contrib) 04:22, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protected - for one month. Thank you for reverting. - Philippe | Talk 04:27, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

semi-protect - IP vandalism. Suggest John from Cincinnati article be put back to semi-block for unregistered and newly registered users for one month until comments slow about the cancelling of show. Last block ended today (for one week period) and vandalism has started again unfortunately. I have undone a few vandalism changes as well as other members have. Msw1002 03:23, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for one month. Re-request here if necessary after that. Thanks for reverting and keeping an eye on it! - Philippe | Talk 03:42, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-Protect - repeated insertion of material by a series of IP addresses without a reliable source. A protection of one week, as has just been given to Royal Rumble (2008) should be acceptable. Cheers, The Hybrid 02:10, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected.. Ask and ye shall receive :) (if appropriate, of course) Fvasconcellos (t·c) 02:27, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protect - Page history is almost entirely vandalism and reverts. It was semi-protected a few months ago, and that has expired. -- Basar (talk · contribs) 01:30, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 2 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected.. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 01:36, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protect - Various IP addresses have been adding information on a "new member" called "Sam Mansbridge" to the above band page, as well as information on the band's history which is unverified and non-notable. Another user, Sam mansbridge, has also been involved in the edis. Every time I attempt to undo these edits, they are then in turn undone back to the wrong version. --SteelersFan UK06 01:19, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Please have a look at this BBC story which notes one "Sam Mansbridge" as a "relatively new addition to the band". I hope I'm not furthering a hoax or some kind of prank, but I'd rather take the AGF road on this one. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 01:29, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-Protect - Various IP vandals have been deleting sourced content from the page and replacing it with incorrect information. No registered users have deleted this content. Among the deletions include two instances of page blanking. --PAK Man Talk 00:19, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for two weeks. Afte rthat, protection will automatically expire. - Philippe | Talk 03:02, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

semi-protect. An IP address (or a series of IP addresses) repeatedly keeps changing the location and venue part of the article without citing a reliable source. The article should be semi-protected until a reliable source (such as from WWE.com) comes up. MITB LS 23:06, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected.. If a source comes up sooner, add it to the page and/or request unprotection if you like. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 01:34, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protect. Excessive IP vandalism. -- Satori Son 02:32, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week. After 1 week the page will be automatically unprotected —Wknight94 (talk) 02:49, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Protected for a month. A compromise seems to have been found. nadav (talk) 01:17, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, it hasn't. One user is insisting on adding dubious, POV information to the article and has even badgered me on my user talk page about it. This page needs to be protected until this user lays off the WP:SOAPBOX threats. --GHcool 05:00, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
User:PalestineRemembered will be begin his mentorship soon, and there is no chance for edit warring from him. He is under careful scrutiny by a number of admins right now. See also User talk:FayssalF/Archive W#sigh. nadav (talk) 05:31, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Very well. I'll support unlocking the page, but at the first sign of trouble, I'm going to request it to be locked again. --GHcool 05:56, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Protected for over a month because of edit warring. Discussion on talk page is nonexistent. --YellowTapedR 01:02, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for significant edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Protected for two months for "vandalism". 68.39.174.238 18:05, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unprotected -it's been long enough. There's a certain irony to having protection on a page such as this :) - Alison 18:07, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection, still with high level of IP vandalism. Carlosguitar 16:31, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

semi-protect. High level of IP vandalism. Request indefinite protection. Page has been protected twice before and the vandalism, which consists of adding unreferenced, speculative and known wrong episode information, immediately resumes after the protection expires. NrDg 16:26, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. - indefinite protection would be inappropriate at this time. Protect time is being doubled here now - Alison 18:11, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Libelous material repeatedly inserted that asserts Tom Cryer is a tax protester, even though he does not protest taxes or been convicted of any tax crime. Mpublius 14:13, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Declined, - content dispute. Talk page shows no WP:BLP concerns here - Alison 15:27, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Article has the protection icon in upper right, indicating it is semi-protected. However, history shows it is not protected, as it been vandalized several times this morning. Would just like to bring this to attention, so that if the icon should be removed, it can be, or if the page needs to be re-protected, this can be done. Thanks! ArielGold 12:35, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I'm going to Declined to protect - there's been some vandalism today but it's not unmanageable. The page is move-protected, but we don't leave templates for that in article space, so I guess it got inserted by mistake at some point. ~ Riana 12:42, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, wasn't really requesting protection, but don't know where else to notify of the icon being left, so that's why I brought it here, so that icon could be removed. :) Thanks Riana! ArielGold 12:46, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article is candidate for speedy deletion. Template couldn't be placed because is protected. Quackwatch is not an organization with notability and the article seems to be {{db-advert}} Citations are mostly to self publications or to magazines. Daoken 10:21, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not unprotected and not deleted either due to its assertions of notability and the inevitable drama it would cause. If you are prepared to AfD the article, that would be a different matter. -- zzuuzz (talk) 12:43, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protect. IP vandalism, from Celtic fans as usual. - Dudesleeper · Talk 09:22, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. --DarkFalls talk 10:12, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
