Shoreview is a city in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 25,924 at the 2000 census.

Many Twin Cities-area broadcasters use Shoreview as a site for their transmitting antennas. KMSP channel 9 owns one tower (KMSP TV Tower) reaching 1466 feet (446.8 m) high, shared with WFTC, KTCA/KTCI, and ten FM radio stations. Another pair of towers nearby (Telefarm Towers Shoreview) stand approximately 1437 feet (438 m) tall and are co-owned by WCCO, KARE, and KSTP-TV, and are also used by WUCW. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 12.7 square miles (33.0 km²), of which, 11.2 square miles (29.0 km²) of it is land and 1.5 square miles (4.0 km²) of it is water. The total area is 12.17% water. Rice Creek flows through the northwestern part of the city.[2] Interstate Highway 35W, Interstate Highway 694, and County Highway 96 are three of the main routes in the city.

The population density is 2,315.9 people per square mile (82,394.5/km²). There are 10,127 housing units at an average density of 919.2/sq mi (355.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city is 93.28% White, 1.01% African American, 0.22% Native American, 3.65% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.44% from other races, and 1.35% from two or more races. 1.33% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. Ancestries: German (38.3%), Norwegian (15.9%), Swedish (13.9%), Irish (13.9%), English (8.3%), Polish (5.5%). Median resident age: 39.3 years

Police and Fire

The City of Shoreview contracts with the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department for police services and has one of the lowest crime rates among similar cities in the metropolitan area.

Programs offered are crime prevention, youth mentoring, Neighborhood Watch, lakes & trail patrol and a community-policing project involving citizens.

Fire protection services are provided by the Lake Johanna Fire Department, which consists of 70 paid on-call firefighters.

The Lake Johanna Fire Department operates four stations. The City owns two stations in Shoreview and shares a third station, located in North Oaks.
