Kochuveli railway station (also known as Thiruvananthapuram North railway station) (station code: KCVL) is a satellite passenger rail terminal of Thiruvananthapuram city in the Indian state of Kerala. It is being developed to ease congestion at Thiruvananthapuram Central station.[2] The Kochuveli railway station is located towards the north of the city, approximately at a distance of 8 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram city. The Kochuveli railway station is located near to NH47 Thiruvananthapuram City bypass.[3]
The Railway Station was opened in 2005. The station has two entrances Eastern Side and Western Side. The Eastern side has the satellite terminal from where the trains originating from Kochuveli operates and the old railway station is situated on the western side. Currently 16 long distance express trains and 1 passenger train operates from this station. Kochuveli railway station connects passengers to important cities of India. Many trains now functioning from Thiruvananthapuram Central including the Sabari Express will commence the journey from Kochuveli railway station once the station is completely developed. Kochuveli railway station also caters to special trains during rush seasons. The common trains from here are to New Delhi, Dehradun ([DDN]), Hyderabad, Bilaspur, Yeshwanthpur, Sri Ganganagar, Dadar, New Tinsukia, Santragachi, Chennai, and Mumbai.

Accessibility
Kochuveli railway station is situated at a distance of 1.2 km from NH 47 Kazhakootam -Kovalam bypass road and 8 km from Thampanoor. Kerala State Road Transport Corporation is currently operating Low Floor AC feeder bus from Kochuveli terminal to Trivandrum city for the benefit of long distance passengers. The buses are operated from the station at selected timings based on train arrivals. The nearest bus stop in NH 47 Kazhakootam -Kovalam bypass road is World Market Junction from which commuters can avail the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation buses towards various places in Trivandrum city and Kazhakootam.
Future developments at Kochuveli terminal
A foot over-bridge connecting platforms on the eastern and the western side is long pending one. Platforms 2 & 3 are yet to be fully operational. Kochuveli, the Satellite Terminal of Thiruvananthapuram is also poised for growth, with present 6 platforms and a total of 10 once fully developed. Coach care centre which is undergoing construction, is yet to be completed. Construction of a sickline complex, two pit lines are the other facilities for which work is in progress.[citation needed]
