Other neat portal ideas for longer term
- Longer term ideas to think about from other portals:
- Events section, like: "On this day" e.g., Biography, Religion, United States; "Selected anniversaries" e.g., War; "Calendar" at Holidays. Interesting idea of "Month selected anniversaries", at Oregon.
- Model intro with some rotating images, after Portal:Oregon, Portal:Indiana, Portal:Iceland/Intro and Portal:Philosophy of science/Intro.
- Revamp DYK sections w/ free-use images, model after Portal:Criminal justice and Portal:Oregon.
- Portal palettes at User:RichardF/Palettes/Portals. Comparable color schemes can be developed from the various hue lists at User:RichardF/Palettes. Also see Portal:Box-header.
- If there are a lot of categories, then categories section to 2 columns, like in Portal:Indiana.
- Also take some time to check out style/formatting at Portal:Indiana Cirt (talk)

Deletion of the Ed Alleyne-Johnson page.
RevDrJoFreddie (talk) 17:48, 11 January 2012 (UTC) RevDrJoFreddie 11/01/2012 This page should be put back up Ed Alleyne-Johnson, was a member of English post-punk/alternative rock band New Model Army and worked with them on their Top 40 single "Vagabonds", and their albums Thunder & Consolation (1989) and Impurity (1990), as well as touring extensively with them for five years. Therefore is a significant musician. RevDrJoFreddie (talk) 17:48, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
- You'll have to talk to an admin about that. — Cirt (talk) 16:28, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi Cirt,
Last year, you deleted an article on Bugei Juhappan, per consensus at AfD (which seemed to indicate a lack of sources as the problem). I've got a number of sources lined up ready to write the article afresh, but it would be handy to see what existed before. Is there any chance you could temporarily userfy the deleted version of the page to my userspace, so that I can take a look at it? (my draft is going up at User:Yunshui/Bugei Juhappan, so if you could userfy to a different title (say User:Yunshui/Bugei Juhappan1) that would be handy.) Cheers, Yunshui 雲水 09:24, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
- As you can tell from the bluelink, I've now moved the article to mainspace. No need to worry about finding the deleted one any more; I think I've covered the relevent bases. Thanks anyway, Yunshui 雲水 14:10, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
Deletion review for Damian Roberts
An editor has asked for a deletion review of Damian Roberts. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. George Ho (talk) 10:57, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll defer to consensus of that discussion. — Cirt (talk) 14:53, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
article request
so as not to violate any terms--do you know how one goes about approaching a wiki writer to create and article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.163.39.239 (talk) 20:22, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
- Sure, try Wikipedia:Requested articles or WP:Article development. — Cirt (talk) 22:37, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
FPs
I took a stab at a Dispatch. It's not nearly finished, as the bulk of it remains to be written, but I feel as though we can get this published in the next week's Signpost. I'm hoping a Dispatch could help users get used to writing Featured portals, and perhaps draw some more attention to the process. Awaiting your contributions :D. Cheers, ResMar 04:43, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll take a look at it. Thanks, — Cirt (talk) 17:21, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
