Bola Olalowo moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Bola Olalowo, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the confirms on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. Mirrors

Information icon Thanks for contributing to the article Ahmed Musa. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Pashtuns and religion

Hello there Kaizenfy,

I had recently a pending edit on wikipedia with you about wiki/Pashtuns You have sent me a message to discuss this :) I just wanted to discuss and clarify this. Pashtuns are an eastern Iranian ethnic group located in Afghanistan and North western parts of Pakistan (along the border with Afghanistan) During the British Raj, Indian merchants came mostly to Kabul and other city for trade purposes see: Hew McLeod (1997). Sikhism. New York: Penguin Books. p. 251. ISBN 0-14-025260-6. Along with them also Hindus etc. This page that was used as a source to "clarify" the reason why Hindus should have been included in the religion section is not based on anything please see that newspaper page. Yes, Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan are Pashtunized but they are not ethnic Pashtuns. For example you cant count Asian into ethnic English in the UK but you call them British Asians etc etc. But by ethnicity, you cannot call the Sikhs and Hindus Pashtuns. They are Afghans (or Pakistani by nationality) but not ethnic Afghans/Pashtuns.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindki this page is about these "Pashtun" Hindus. They are called Hindki and are speaking Pashto outside but Hindko/Punjabi among themselves. Please read this page its very important. Chisholm, Hugh, ed. (1911). "Hindki" . Encyclopædia Britannica (11th ed.). Cambridge University Press.

and A glossary of the tribes and castes of the Punjab and North-West provinces, compiled by H A Rose, vol II Page 333

Please see the "Hinduism in Afghanistan" page as well You can even go and travel to Afghanistan or western Pakistan and ask a hindu himself whether he is a native Punjabi/hindki haha. I hope you get my point.

The only "Source" the person who made that change about Hinduism in Pashtuns was a random Hindu newspaper as you can see by yourself. thehindum/news/national/tattooed-blue-skinned-hindu-pushtuns-look-back-at-their-roots/article22645932 This is not a legit page to use as a source its not even sourced biased, not to be racist but even the surnames arent Pashtun. . Please look at the pages I gaven for more info ;)

So in short these people are ethnic Hindki/Hindko (so they are an indo-aryan ethnic group part of the Punjabi people) and moved to the region. You can look it up.

But the most clear and best source to use for my argument are found in this book Chisholm, Hugh (ed.). "Hindki". Encyclopædia Britannica (11th ed.). Cambridge University Press. which is sourced in this wiki page as well https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindkowans Journal of Asian history, Volumes 35–36. O. Harrassowitz. 2001. Retrieved 2008-08-17. The real opposition to Pashto came, however, from the speakers of Hindko. A large number of Sikhs and Hindus, all speaking Hindko, lived in the cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and had a voice in the legislative assembly, this was often perceived as the non-Muslim opposition to Pashto.

I am very open to discuss and hear your arguments if you have :) My apologies for not explaining much during the edit I made, I hope its now clear (my sources and my argument)

Please change it to the change I made (deleting the hindu section) I do not have the power to do that. I have been visiting the Pashtun page for years and this so called info on religion is changed recently because I have never saw it in previous years.

Feel free to message me man, more than welcome. Casperti (talk) 20:22, 1 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Casperti, thank you for your very detailed message explaining this subject, it goes a long way about your knowledge as regard this. But first you need to understand that the said edit was done by an IP no which has been found mainly to cause Wikipedia vandalism, also that there was no subtantial reference to support your removal when the edit was made and that is un-encyclopaedic. I have done my findings on the subject as well and understand where you are coming from. I will encourage you henceforth to use your username for edits on Wikipedia and not IP no.. I will address the changes on the page now and add reference where suitable. Let me know if you have more questions and thanks for your contributions. Kaizenify (talk) 20:48, 1 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there Kaizenify, Thanks for your reply and your welcome message. Only there are some fellow wikipedia editiors that keep editing that section. Do you have any tips or hints for that of what I should do? Because I am not vandalizing or anything I just want to make sure the information is right. with proper references. Because that indian newspaper is not really a good source.. and its the only "source" supporting their claim. Casperti (talk) 16:30, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Casperti: There's a second source there now. I don't quite get why the quote from Rahman's article proves your point. Let's take it to the talk page. Doug Weller talk 16:51, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload files. However, it appears that one or more of the files you have uploaded or added to a page, specifically Wikipedia:Meetup/AfroCROWD/FUNAAB Black History Month, may fail our non-free policy. You cancel relevant changes. You did it twice! Why? You are a russophob? --109.252.45.176 (talk) 14:35, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Far from it, am devoted to knowledge spring-up across all boarders. I reverted the edit mainly because it wasn't well referenced and Visa policy of Russia have constantly been vandalized by IP users. Glad, you were able to point it out and now been fixed. Thanks once again for contributing to Wikipedia and so encourage to please open an account so your IP dont remain visible. Kaizenify (talk) 14:42, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am glad that you are far from it.
Your information is wrong. Article is exposed to vandal changes less than other similar visa articles from top-10 visa articles in popularity. They are not protected, and the Russian article is protected. I consider that this protection is not necessary for this article long ago. But when I tried to inform of this sensible thought, my ip was blocked for a month without reason explanation. Therefore I consider that it is russophobia and attempt to control updating of the Russian article.
Unfortunately, my account was blocked because of misunderstanding. I use the general ip for editing. Probably, it violates rules, but it is difficult to wean from Wikipedia after 5 years.
Cheers.--109.252.45.176 (talk) 18:54, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Now everything is OK. Maybe you live other time zone. But on a part of the territory of Russia new day came. Information is relevant and correct. Thanks for confirmation.--109.252.45.176 (talk) 14:38, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Event coordinator granted

After reviewing your request for the "eventcoordinator" permission, I have enabled the flag on your account. Keep in mind these things:

  • The event coordinator right removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period.
  • The event coordinator right allows you to temporarily add the "confirmed" permission to newly created accounts. You should not grant this for more than 10 days.
  • The event coordinator right is not a status symbol. If it remains unused, it is likely to be removed. Abuse of the event coordinator right will result in its removal by an administrator.
  • Please note, if you were previously a member of the "account creator" group, your flag may have been converted to this new group.

If you no longer require the right, let me know, or ask any other administrator. Drop a note on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of the event coordinator right. Happy editing! — xaosflux Talk 01:49, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Block evasion on Iwo Jima

Hello. I noticed you accepted the edits by the IP on Iwo Jima, but the IP was block evading. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/51.7.23.40. The IPs first edit (recently, so the first edit since their IP changed) was to continue to violate WP:3RR. I cannot revert it, otherwise I will violate 3RR. Edit war happened because the IP removed a reference and refused to discuss why they removed the reference. Now they are performing block evasion, so the edits should be reverted anyway. Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, Kaizenify. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Ommo Clark, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See WP:PAID. Thank you. WBGconverse 15:34, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Winged Blades of Godric, thank you for your message but I think there might be a mix-up here. I didn’t create the page Ommo Clark, i only added the correct link to her website on the page and that doesn’t warrant a conflict of interest clause. Please do check again and revert appropriately. Thanks. Kaizenify (talk) 16:05, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October!

Greetings!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.

On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

  • Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
  • Diversity winner
  • Gender-gap fillers

For further information about the contest, the recognition categories and how to participate, please visit the contest page here. For further inquiries, please leave comments on the contest talkpage or on the main project talkpage. See you around :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 00:50, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Usuing Multiple Accounts To Edit Are You?

Hey I noticed yourself & Teebabalola edit in a simillar pattern & on the same articles especially on David Oluwatobiloba Adeyemi Are you one & the same person as Teebabalola ? If your answer is yes then ensure not to use that account to participate in this AFD - [[1]] or any other account you may be operating under a different name or monicker. Cheers. Thank you Celestina007; I am not the same as Teebabalola as I am only preventing Teebabalola from adding unreferenced and conflict of interest information on David Oluwatobiloba Adeyemi. This I have put on the talk page prior. Thanks Kaizenify (talk) 08:23, 17 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Celestina007; Kaizenify I am very sorry for all the mishaps with [[2]] I am only an aspiring female blogger inspired by his (David Oluwatobiloba Adeyemi) works and decided to contribute my own quota. And i feel bad about all this mess and promise not to interfere with this article or any wiki article without propper knowledge about going about it anymore thereby realting to conflict of interest information on David Oluwatobiloba Adeyemi.

— xaosflux Talk 02:23, 12 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for uncreated articles

Greetings & a great weekend to you all. I believe it would be great if the (Requests for uncreated articles) section in our wiki project can be attended to & at least one article be created this weekend as some requests have been pending since 2016. I believe this would be pivotal to the encyclopedia as a whole & a means to get editors who have gone inactive to revive their Wikipedia activities. Sent by Celestina007. Adenike Oladosu has been nominated for Did You Know

Hello, Kaizenify. Adenike Oladosu, an article you either created or to which you significantly contributed, has been nominated to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page as part of Did you knowDYK comment symbol. You can see the hook and the discussion here. You are welcome to participate! Thank you. EnterpriseyBot (talk!) 12:01, 30 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've reviewed the nomination. I suspect you know the subject, but the article is written in a sufficiently neutral way that it should be ok. In general, you shouldn't be writing about people you know as per WP:COI. What you could do is take a photo of the subject and upload it to Wikimedia Commons; the photo that is there has licensing problems and I have nominated it for deletion. Schwede66 20:46, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Schwede66 for taking time out to review the nomination and also for all the corrections made. But to put it on record, I have no association with the subject in anyway; the article was created as part of my personal project to create Wikipedia article for deserving Africa climate activists so as to bridge the gap that exist which all started from Twitter. I created the article in good faith as I have created for other African climate activists in the last few weeks which include: Vanessa Nakate, Maria Auma, Elizabeth Wathuti amongst others. As regard the picture; women in red project reached out to the subject on Twitter so she can donate her images and then showed her the steps to take and already obtained license of copyright from the photographer before upload. Thanks. Kaizenify (talk) 21:00, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. What surprised me was to find her birth date and full name in the article; I couldn't see that in the sources. Hence my 'suspicion'. Schwede66 21:02, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable sources

Kaizenify, I left you a message about mirrors and bad sources a year ago - still on this page. Please immediately read our policy on biographies. The source you are edit warring to include is a junk scraper that steals content from sources, usually wikipedia, and has explicit disclaimers of accuracy on the site. Most of the material there is a simple copy of our artices (the page recently changes its naem from "uplclosed" to "peoplepill"). This is absolutely unacceptable as a source for anything, much less the birth date of a living person. Please immediately stop adding that source. If you have some odd feeling that the source is acceptable and that I'm lying to you, please start a conversation at WP:RSN before making any other changes. Kuru (talk) 13:03, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Erroneous birth date

On 18 April 2020, you added an erroneous birth date to the Wikipedia page Abba Kyari (politician). Since you failed to cite a source, edit warring ensued. Not until 6 hours, 6 minutes later was it corrected and properly sourced. I have no doubt that your edit was in good faith. However, please realize that it served to publicly embarrass Wikipedia on social media, where the discrepancy was sharply criticized and taken as an affront by many of your fellow Nigerians. In future, please pay closer attention to Wikipedia's policy of Verifiability. NedFausa (talk) 21:55, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you NedFausa, this is quite embarrassing and wasn't intended. I actually got the reference from The Nation (Nigeria), a major Nigerian newspaper here and so the error was made there. Thanks for pointing it out. Kaizenify (talk) 01:12, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hello there Kaiszenify sorry you had a face palm moment and I write this as a fellow Nigerian: this is hard lesson about the need to verify news sources out of Nigeria. Many times, they rely on Wikipedia and you can have error based recursion. All the best. Kunkuru (talk) 03:48, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Tarebi Alebiosu for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Tarebi Alebiosu is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tarebi Alebiosu until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 23:03, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Versace1608 for all the work you do and also for nominating this all in a way to make this space better. But I just have this to raise even while the AFD discussion is going on; rather than nominating almost every articles around Nigerian women especially for deletion why not do more of improving to them, I think the latter is more productive. Presently we have less than 5% remarkable Nigerian women on Wikipedia hence the introduction of our Wiki4NaijaWomen project; this is primarily to bridge the gender gap that exists on Wikipedia and one of the approach we employ as advocacy is training which we did with WikiGap and social media advocacy:a part in this daily social media routine suggest the public nominating names of remarkable Nigerian women for a wiki page and such advocacy like that is where this subject above was created from as you can see here; the article is primarily written by one of our newbie within the Nigeria wiki community as created here before I then moved it into main space. Some articles might not be 100% perfect but taking steps to improve them first can always go a long way as this is one of the reasons Nigerian contents are so lacking. Note that if you are not associated with Nigeria, I wouldn’t have brought this up atall. Thanks once again for future understanding. Kaizenify (talk) 23:27, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Kaizenify, I’m not sure I understand to satisfaction how the wikiGap / gender bias thing works or how newbies create articles & you move them to mainspace for them but can’t you like point out to the newbies that articles they intend to make/create must at the very least satisfy WP:GNG? I’m sorry if I sound ignorant because like i said I don’t know how all that works probably, maybe you are mandated to move it to mainspace no matter the state of the article I clearly do not know. But in the case of the aforementioned article which is now at an AFD, please do tell, how are other editors supposed to improve on the article when clearly the subject isn’t notable? I did a before search & as God is my witness I found nothing concrete if you can show me any three reliable source that discuss subject of article with in-depth significant coverage I’d be more than amazed as I searched & searched but came up empty. Celestina007 (talk) 23:50, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Celestina007; ofcourse the WikiGap doesn’t allow users writing jargons all in the name of bridging the gap but you need to also understand that there are limitations especially as Nigerian contents is concerned. I am not mandated to move any article to main-space but only to make sure one bridge that gap; as regard this particular subject, it has been edited before the move and kinda suffer this fate not necessarily because the subject isn’t notable but media hasn’t do more justice to her person which I understand. As someone who has benefited from Wikimedia travel experiences with other experienced Wikimedia affiliates and facilitated partnership within the internet gender gap, i realized that the media most time in Nigeria hasn’t been fair to the works of our women and that’s one of the reasons that we organized symposium/Training’s for over 80 female journalists in March 20 where we talked about the need to focus more on the personality of a subject rather than their work and also make sure they push themselves to write about more amazing Nigerian Women out there for the media. But wouldn’t want to bore you with all these so I understand your concerns about this and hence appreciated it so well... Only advocating that you should pls try to improve more Nigerian Women articles first before deletion and also help write more about Nigerian women while also mentoring newbies. We also understand the restrictions/guidelines placed by En wiki which disqualify lot of this women and that’s basically one of the reason why we started heavy contributions on our language Wikipedia (yo,ig & ha) aswell so we can tell our stories ourselves. Thank you once again. Kaizenify (talk)
Hi Kaizenify, I appreciate the efforts you're making to close the gender gap; I applaud your for that man. Having said that, you really need to tell new editors and those who participate to make it their priority to abide by Wikipedia's notability guidelines. It wouldn't be great if they dedicate time to work on an article only for them to see it get deleted. I participated in Jamie Tubers's Afro cine project last year and noticed a few articles (created by new editors) that were not suitable for stand-alone inclusion.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 00:16, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, rather than have new editors create articles, some of them can focus on improving existing articles. There are numerous Nigerian-related articles currently in poor shape. I personally prefer quality over quantity. More Nigerian-related articles should be passing the WP:GA and WP:FA criteria.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 00:30, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well said, thank you so much Versace1608 for re-echoing this... I love the fact that you talked about quality over quantity and for newbies to follow all laid out notability guidelines; very well said.... We will continue to advocate that; should it not be a concern also that right now we don’t have quite number of experienced Nigerian editors ready to mentor newbies and fight vandalism as before: this is due to some foundational reasons and we are working on restoring those values while following all guidelines to keep this space sane as ever. As much as I believe in quality over quantity aswell but will also plead to make the gender balance somehow as we presently have about 80% of Nigerian men on En wiki to 20% women... with initiatives like Wiki Loves Women, Wiki Women In Red, WikiGap, Wiki4NaijaWomen which are all focus to closing that gender gap, we beg on your support to contribute, review and support our remarkable women even more while ofcourse following the necessary rules.. Still as far as am concerned, you are a Nigerian *smile*.. Thanks once again, I appreciate. Kaizenify (talk)
I believe the primary way to bridge the gender gap is to actually recruit more women. How many women editors have agreed to participate in the Wiki4NaijaWomen project? I can adopt a couple of the editors you recruit and show them the ropes, and will review articles they work on in their sandbox. You should make a list of notable topics you would like new editors to work on; you can do a Google search to make the subject of each article meets WP:GNG, WP:ANYBIO or WP:BASIC. Doing this will actually eliminate the chances of other experience editors nominating the article for deletion.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 14:29, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nigeria Contest

Can you explain the rules a little bit more to me? for example which articles are allowed? Only about Nigerian women? Or any women? Or just any article will do? Then the language rule. If I create an article, for example in Swahili, is it allowed? and how will it work I mean what score will it get? I am a new editor but I would like to participate with a couple of articles if I can. MistyGraceWhite (talk) 16:26, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you MistyGraceWhite for showing interest in the WikiGap Nigeria contest. It is open to all users from different part of the world but all articles must be about Nigerian Women and can be written in as many languages as possible including Swahili. Articles can be from any categories or thematic areas as long as it’s about Nigerian Women though some categories brings bonus score. You can check for more info here as the grading is simple in structure, based on a KISS principle system where You get points while improving articles. Pls let me know if you need any more clarification and I will be more than willing to provide that. Thanks Kaizenify (talk) 19:21, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
