Wikipedia and copyright

Control copyright icon Hello Alex-h, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Rohingya persecution in Myanmar (2016–present) have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

 • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
 • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
 • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
 • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
 • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
 • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Darkness Shines (talk) 21:06, 7 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Alliance School in Tehran moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Alliance School in Tehran, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. The source you cited looks like a personal webpage. Wikipedia needs reliable, verifiable, independent sources. Cabayi (talk) 10:55, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You might find it easier to structure your references using Wikipedia:ProveIt and/or Wikipedia:Refill. Hope that helps, Cabayi (talk) 12:59, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just a few things

Hi Alex-h. Thank you for your creating Xerxes’s inscription (amongst others). I would like to ask you to pay a "bit" more attention to Wikipedia's guidelines. I just completely rewrote the "Xerxes’s inscription" article as it was objectively in a very bad state (content, sources, grammar, overal coherence, etc.). You have created numerous articles about very interesting topics, but not adhering to WP policies creates unnecessary issues. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to let me know. Thank you, and a Happy New Year in advance. Best, - LouisAragon (talk) 23:45, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Cabayi:, My dear friend Cabayi , I think there is a mistake here. the second I clicked publish button I received your note that you have put the article in draft.Especially whenI had put the "in use" lable. This is discouraging for me while I expect you to guide me for better articles and better Wikipedia work.Alex-h (talk) 22:55, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No mistake. We went through this with Alliance School in Tehran. When I saw this article appear on the new articles list I thought "Alex did an article on the school in Tehran. This article will build on the experience gained there, it's going to be a really happy experience, an article I can mark as patrolled with very little stress or effort." I was hugely disappointed to find that you had created a single sentence article with no sources in mainspace. This is really discouraging for me - it looks like you learnt nothing from the previous experience. Even your Tehran article started better than this. You know that draftspace is the place to work on an article which isn't ready for mainspace. You know that In use is not a magic spell that covers all faults. You know that reliable, verifiable, independent sources are needed.
My guidance to you for better articles and better Wikipedia work - don't create unsourced stubs in mainspace, start work in draftspace. Cabayi (talk) 06:17, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi CAlex-h. I noticed that you recently used celebstrendnow.com as a source for information in a biography article, Nomita Chandy. I am unable to find any evidence or discussion indicating that celebstrendnow.com meets reliable sourcing criteria for the inclusion of personal information in such articles. If you disagree, let's discuss it. Thanks.--Ronz (talk) 21:25, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Léon Émery

Hello, Alex-h,

Thanks for creating Léon Émery! I edit here too, under the username Rosguill and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:-

The citations to Epstein 2008 are incomplete.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with Rosguill. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

@Rosguill:, Hi, Thanks for your guidance to improve my article. I have worked on the article and removed the tag. Please check to see if there is anything else I have to do. As English is not my mother language some mistakes may be natural. Thanks Alex-h (talk) 13:23, 21 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your efforts to improve the article. Unfortunately, there's still quite a few grammatical errors––I counted five before even getting to the end of the first paragraph after the lead. While the article is readable and largely comprehensible, I think it could still benefit from additional copy editing from a more fluent editor and I would humbly suggest that you reinstate the tag. If I get a chance, I may be able to do some of the copy editing myself. signed, Rosguill talk 17:14, 21 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and did the copy editing. There's still some parts that could probably be rewritten to flow better, but nothing that requires a tag. I also edited some claims which didn't appear to be supported by the sources (these issues seem to have come from the French article, which I also made some edits to). signed, Rosguill talk 21:59, 21 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Rosguill:,ُ Thank you for your sense of responsibility. I'm glad to have found a friend like you. Alex-h (talk) 15:18, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Iranian politics general sanctions notice

Please read this notification carefully: it contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

A community discussion has authorised the use of general sanctions to curtail disruption in articles related to post-1978 Iranian politics, broadly construed. Before continuing to make edits that involve this topic, please read the full description of these sanctions here.

General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

Tony Ricca on WikiCommons

I'm contacting you because you voted delete on the article on Tony Ricca. Over on the Commons there are a number of photos, one of which was used in a draft here that was speedily deleted under C4. I therefore believe all the photos there need to be deleted. I have nominated all of them, but Georgivac (who was banned from Wikipedia for socking) is still insisting on the commons that he is notable. I need help with delete votes. The Commons pictures are these; [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7] and [8]. 2001:8003:5999:6D00:B5DD:CEDF:C253:4630 (talk) 21:41, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to WikiProject Socialism

Hello @MarioGom:.Thank you for contacting me and introducing WikiProject Socialism. Could you please also let me know more about the project and what one can do? Thank you again . Alex-h (talk) 22:30, 19 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Alex-h, here's a few resources for project tasks:
 • You can watch the project talk page where other editors post proposals and requests for help.
 • There is a discussion feed with all new discussions on every page under the scope of the project.
 • The alerts page keeps track of important alerts, such as deletion discussions, good article nominations, etc.
 • There are lists of missing articles that you help to create. You can also propose other lists.
 • The cleanup backlog keeps track of articles with maintenance issues that need attention.
 • Articles also need assessment.
If there were enough people interested, it would be possible to organize monthly events to focus on certain topics or other activities. Although activity is relatively low at this point to do that. Best, --MarioGom (talk) 22:56, 19 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war

January 2020

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Qasem Soleimani; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

 1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
 2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. SharʿabSalam▼ (talk) 16:11, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

As wp:OR and wp:Do not create hoaxes demands, please do not attempt to put misinformation into Wikipedia:

 • You wrote that They have taken this decision on the request of some Iranian artists who have already boycotted the festival..,but there is nothing in the source about two Italian directors in your first edit. In addition A source which was inserted after a while, says that A group of prominent Iranian writers, poets, playwrights, and actors have asked two Italian stage directors to stay away from the Islamic Republic's official Fajr drama festival. The source does not say the festival is boycotted. There is nothing about the effect of this request on making a decision!
 • The Source says that Ali Khamenei has said Iranians should fast Ramadan style to show “the enemy” they can resist its sanctions. but you just wrote that Ali Khamenei, said that under the school of thought of Khomeini people should fast like in Ramadhan.

Competence is required

I was looking at the history of COVID-19 pandemic in Iran where I came across your edit –which is another example showing you are not able to have proper attributions whenever needed. This blatant mistake, where you have pushed "Karim Dahimi"'s claims as a fact, comes less than a month after @El C:'s last warning to you. You really need to take it seriously. --Mhhossein talk 12:55, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Mhhossein: I may not be a perfect editor (maybe you are?), so if you thought my edit needed an attribution, you could have just told me, or fix it by adding an attribution yourself? or both? (which would have been great). Trying to get me sanctioned (like you have been trying to do to Stefka Bulgaria) instead of letting me know where I can improve feels like an attack. I could easily search through your edits and report the mistakes you may have made to El_C, but I'm not going to do that because I'm not here for that. I just wish you'd stop with all the accusations already. Alex-h (talk) 14:22, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's disappointing that you're not still getting the point. Accusation? Had I discussed it at ANI you would not be downgrading your blatant mistake to "Accusation"? I am not responsible against your repeated wrong doings. It's not a matter of perfectness or like. I am not even seeking to make you sanctioned (I would take to ANI). I am telling you need to take it much more seriously. Also, don't use rubbish sources never ever again. This is of course the last warning before you get T banned. --Mhhossein talk 06:35, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Mhhossein: I am getting the point, but have you asked yourself if you are? Friendly advice is always welcomed, but don't post threats here anymore. If you think I have done something that needs a T Ban, post it at ANI. Just be cautious of WP:BOOMERANG, which is a very real thing. Alex-h (talk) 10:03, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Be it a threat or a friendly notice, only use reliable sources and attribute them whenever necessary. I will certainly take your next wrongdoings to ANI. --Mhhossein talk 11:50, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Mhhossein: where does it say that Radio Farda is an unreliable source that deserves a T Ban if used? Alex-h (talk) 13:23, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Then I need to remind you of the WBG's comment. Why are don't you make proper attributions after you're told/warned to do it. Drop the stick please. --Mhhossein talk 13:47, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
An editor suggesting "preferably with attribution" is not the same as being T Banned for using the source. I think you should read WP:CIR. Don't post baseless threats in my talk page anymore. Alex-h (talk) 21:01, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's getting very frustrating that you don't acknowledge your wrongdoing despite being explicitly warned. The last reminder: "yes, it does seem from those examples that Alex-h tends to play fast and loose with the facts and with proper attribution, and with proper sources. That is a problem that they need to acknowledge and address, otherwise some IRANPOL sanctions may need to be applied, up to and including a broadly construed topic ban from the Iran topic area."[9] --Mhhossein talk 06:19, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Mhhossein: I have acknowledged about attributing to Radio Farda and because I'm not by any means a perfect editor, some things will fly under my radar from time to time (just like you yesterday breaking the MEK's article's restrictions? ). I am also letting you know that you need to change your ways of using threats and stop using WP:BATTLEGROUND language, because you have been strongly warned for treating Wikipedia as a battleground (and also for "avoid making personal attacks, to seek consensus rather than edit-warring over contentious material, and to be mindful of our policies about maintaining a neutral point of view").[10]. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Alex-h (talk) 12:05, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Verifiability at René Cassin

Hi Alex-h, thanks for your contributions since December to René Cassin. The good news, is that you added some good information, and good sources (The Atlantic, EB, Foreign Affairs), but the bad news is that almost nothing in the content was actually supported by the citations you gave for them. This perplexed me, since you obviously did the work to find those fine sources, so I don't understand what happened. Did you maybe have a list of your sources, and forget which source supported which part of the content you developed, and maybe stuck the references in the wrong place? That's just a guess; but the problem is, that the content just wasn't supported by your sources. I ended up having to undo a good portion of it; some of the rest of it I left in, but placed a number of citation needed tags, and also some unreferenced section tags.

There were some other issues: the WP:LEAD of an article is just a summary of the content in the main body of the article, it's not the place for unique information not covered in the body. I moved some of your content from the lead, into the body, leaving a brief summary in the lead. That's if it was covered by a good source; sometimes I had to just remove it, since there was either no source, or the source simply didn't cover it.

I'm not sure what to say to you, because you seem to be sincerely trying to improve the article, and adding good content (I think; I have to check some refs), but you're either adding information that is unsourced, or you're adding what look like good, reliable sources, but they simply do not support the content you are adding. Maybe at this point, it's time for a refresher course in WP:Verifiability, which is a core policy of Wikipedia. Here's the money quote:

All material in Wikipedia mainspace, including everything in articles, lists and captions, must be verifiable. All quotations, and any material whose verifiability has been challenged or is likely to be challenged, must include an inline citation that directly supports the material. Any material that needs a source but does not have one may be removed.

This explains why I removed a lot of your material. I left some of it that *sounded* like it was maybe right, but I wasn't sure; most of these, I tagged. If you can go back to the article, and add citations to reliable sources for the inline tags and tagged sections for at least just the material you added, that would be great. One other thing: in some cases, you gave the name of a book, or long article as a source for something; while theoretically this make it verifiable, practically speaking, it would be quite hard to verify something; if you can add a page number using |pages= if it has a citation-style reference (cite book, cite web, etc.) or using |rp= if it doesn't (or just plain text: "page 16-18") that would be great. Thanks again for your work on this interesting personage from French World War II history, Mathglot (talk) 03:48, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Mathglot:, Hi. Excuse me for the late reply. Thank you for letting me know. Yes, I had prepared a draft of the sources and information I wanted to add to this article, and could have well confused them when adding them. I will have a look at this and make any corrections if needed, but also it seems this is not the best method for working, so I won't use this draft method again. Thank you again for bringing it to my attention. Alex-h (talk) 16:02, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Are you aware of Wikipedia's own Draft feature? It's a great way to develop articles, while still being able to have stuff unsourced, random notes to yourself about what you want to do, empty sections with just a section title to remind you to stick something there, without having anybody revert you. I use it all the time, and find it very helpful. Can point you to some Draft articles if you like, or just type Draft: in the search bar, and it will start to pop up plenty of them. Or check out Draft:Grievance politics, which is in a very haphazard state, but that's the whole point; you get to do that, without someone looking over your shoulder. (It's still a wiki, so you don't "own" the page and others can jump in; but usually they don't.)
One thing I do from the beginning, is set up two appendix sections, "Works cited" and "Further reading". I find all my sources first, like it sounds like you do, turn them into citations, and stick them in "Further reading". As I start to develop content, I pick off the "Further reading" cites that I need for that one edit, and move them up to the "Works cited" section, and then use a sfn (short footnote) inline in the text I'm adding in that edit. Rinse, repeat. See those two sections in the linked Draft for an example. Happy editing, Mathglot (talk) 18:34, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, @Mathglot: I was not aware of the Draft feature. I will try it out, and will also check out the other articles and approaches you've suggested. Alex-h (talk) 15:52, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article The minaret of the Mosque Jame - Saveh has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The information in this article is already included at Jameh Mosque of Saveh, and it is highly unlikely that the minaret is notable independent of the mosque to which it belongs.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nomination of The minaret of the Mosque Jame - Saveh for deletion

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The minaret of the Mosque Jame - Saveh until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

Rublov (talk) 13:10, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Rublov: Hi, I appreciate your concern to improve my articles. As you have recommended I explained my reasons in the article’s talk page and then removed the tag. Thank you again. Alex-h (talk) 13:25, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Mainly it's a question of where this content should go - whether it should be in a separate article or part of Jameh Mosque of Saveh. An advantage of including it in the main article for the mosque is that it is likely to get more exposure there than on a separate article that fewer people would visit. In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Notice that you are now subject to an arbitration enforcement sanction

The following sanction now applies to you:

Indefinite Topic-ban from post-1978 Iranian politics, broadly construed.

Indefinite Interaction-ban with ParadaJulio, broadly construed.

You have been sanctioned for long-term disruptive edit warring, POV pushing, WP:STONEWALLing talk page discussions, and long-term association with abusive sock pupperty. Due to your disruptive coordinated tag team edit warring and removal of content with ParadaJulio, you are indefinitely banned with interacting with them, regardless of topic area.

This sanction is imposed in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator under the authority of the Arbitration Committee's decision at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Iranian_politics#Final decision and, if applicable, the contentious topics procedure. This sanction has been recorded in the log of sanctions. If the sanction includes a ban, please read the banning policy to ensure you understand what this means. If you do not comply with this sanction, you may be blocked for an extended period, by way of enforcement of this sanction—and you may also be made subject to further sanctions.

You may appeal this sanction using the process described here. I recommend that you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template if you wish to submit an appeal to the arbitration enforcement noticeboard. You may also appeal directly to me (on my talk page), before or instead of appealing to the noticeboard. Even if you appeal this sanction, you remain bound by it until you are notified by an uninvolved administrator that the appeal has been successful. You are also free to contact me on my talk page if anything of the above is unclear to you. Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 00:45, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I said at the Spi I wouldn't indefinitely block you, but I changed my mind

To enforce an arbitration decision you have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 year. You are welcome to edit once the block expires; however, please note that the repetition of similar behavior may result in a longer block or other sanctions.

If you believe this block is unjustified, please read the guide to appealing blocks (specifically this section) before appealing. Place the following on your talk page: . If you intend to appeal on the arbitration enforcement noticeboard, I suggest you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template on your talk page so it can be copied over easily. You may also appeal directly to me (by email), before or instead of appealing on your talk page.

Reminder to administrators: In May 2014, ArbCom adopted the following procedure instructing administrators regarding Arbitration Enforcement blocks: "No administrator may modify a sanction placed by another administrator without: (1) the explicit prior affirmative consent of the enforcing administrator; or (2) prior affirmative agreement for the modification at (a) AE or (b) AN or (c) ARCA (see "Important notes" [in the procedure]). Administrators modifying sanctions out of process may at the discretion of the committee be desysopped."

Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently making disruptive edits.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: .  Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 01:06, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

-- Per above, the evidence at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Stefka Bulgaria, and your recent edits. Your entire editing history is copyright violations, POV pushing and edit warring, useless junk, and then dummy edits at ITN. The first year of the block is to be treated as Arbitration Enforcement, the rest is a regular admin action. Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 01:06, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Moneytrees:, I'm a bit baffled by your decision here. "Your entire editing history is copyright violations, POV pushing and edit warring, useless junk" sounds quite strange as user did not have a copyright warning since 2018 and as far as can see, their contributions, while not being pefect, don't deserve such a harsh block. Please let me know if you think i'm missing something. Best.---Wikaviani (talk) (contribs) 01:29, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Wikaviani, I surprised myself a bit with it too-- I had made up my mind to block for a month or so but considering the evidence at the above SPI and the entirety of their editing history, it seemed like there was less and less merit in not indefinitely blocking. You might also want to see Wikipedia:Arbitration_Committee/Noticeboard/Archive_13#Iranian_Politics_disruption_continues. Here's some examples of edits I take issue with: most of what they added to Chaîne opératoire was not very coherent. A lot of their old edits appear to be copyright violations-- I may have to open a CCI. Their most recent article, Art of the Seljuks of Iran, was a copyright violation as it was an unattributed translation of our French article; Alex-h only attributed it after someone tagged it on the talk page. Their edits from a few days ago to Heresy in Christianity added a blatant mirror-- looking at their edits to that article, it seems like Alex-h was just looking up phrases that matched those in the article and then citing whatever appeared, regardless of whether or not it was a reliable source or actually verified the text. Looking at their edits more deeply, I'm more convinced of my block and it further proves my theory at the SPI about making low effort edits outside of the topic area they were POV-pushing in inorder to make themselves look more legitimate. Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 01:56, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response, you're probably right and i agree with you to some extent, however, for example, given you diff, their edits at Chaine opératoire have not been reverted since june 2023, that's quite odd for some edits that sound "not very coherent". Don't get me wrong, as far as i can remember, i never interacted with this user and I'm not saying that a block is irrelevant here, but indeffing them sounds a bit too harsh to me and i wanted to let you know about that. Best.---Wikaviani (talk) (contribs) 02:08, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This user is asking that their block be reviewed:

Alex-h (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I undid changes on the MEK page as those edits had some issues that I thought needed to be discussed in the talk page. Was my action incorrect? I have been actively involved on that page for several years (not only after FadArff). Yet I was blocked indefinitely for making low effort edits outside of a topic. I apologize if my edits were perceived as 'low effort,' and I will make an effort to improve their quality, but nothing in my edits shows disruption to this level of sanction. Alex-h (talk) 18:03, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notes:

 • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
 • Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:

If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following code, substituting with a specific rationale. Leaving the decline reason unchanged will result in display of a default reason, explaining why the request was declined.

If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following, substituting Accept reason here with your rationale:

 • Just noting that you can appeal the "first year" of the block at arbitration enforcement noticeboard or administrators' noticeboard, as it is an Arbitration enforcement block. I had thought I included that template when first making the block, but I guess I didn't. I would oppose any unblock for what it is worth-- an indef and lengthy sanction is warranted alone for the coordinated POV editing you engaged in. Your edits outside of the article are only made to beef up your edit count and make you appear more legitimate. Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 20:34, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Moneytrees -- Saying an editor in engaged in coordinated POV editing only because I undid recent POV changes on the MEK page and discussed in the talk page is preposterous. What evidence (diffs) do you have that my reverts were coordinated or unacceptable in any manner? Alex-h (talk) 16:58, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
