The Raptisagar Express is a Superfast train which runs tri-weekly between Trivandrum Central in Kerala state and Gorakhpur city in Uttar Pradesh state in India. This train goes via the cities of Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Chennai Central, Vijayawada, Warangal, Ramagundam, Nagpur, Bhopal, Jhansi, Kanpur, and Lucknow in India. The current operator of the train is North Eastern Railway zone.

Raptisagar Express

There is another train with the same name connecting Ernakulam Junction and Barauni Junction.This is a weekly train goes via the cities of Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Chennai Central, Vijayawada, Warangal, Ramagundam, Nagpur, Bhopal, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Chhapra and Muzaffarpur in India. The current operator of the train is East Central Railway zone.

Both trains run more than 3200 km per service.

Name of the Train

The name "Raptisagar" is given to the train as the train connects the cities Thiruvananthapuram which is situated near Arabian Sea and Gorakhpur from where Rapti river flows.

This train has 23 coach cars which includes Second AC and Third AC compartments being air conditioned.

Schedule

The train leaves Trivandrum Central at 6.15 in the morning on Tuesday, Wednesday & Sunday to reach Gorakhpur at 3.10 in the evening on the 3rd day. The return train (12511) leaves Gorakhpur at 6.35 AM on Thursday, Friday and Sunday to reach Trivandrum Central at 5.30 PM on the 3rd day. The train has an average speed of about 58 km/h during its journey.
