A Dobos torte for you!

[edit]
7&6=thirteen () has given you a Dobos torte to enjoy! Seven layers of fun because you deserve it.

To give a Dobos torte and spread the WikiLove, just place {{subst:Dobos Torte}} on someone else's talkpage, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend.

7&6=thirteen () 13:11, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As to images, I know that User: Doug Coldwell is a great source and helpful editor. I suggest you contact him about pictures to use in the DYK. 7&6=thirteen () 13:29, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There is a picture of this lighthouse on Flickr, however with "All Rights Reserved" license = unacceptable for a Wikipedia article. I sent a Flickr e-mail to the owner of the picture to see if maybe he would lower his copyright. It's now a wait and see what happens = IF he understands English. Hoping for good luck.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 13:34, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ooh! Thanks a lot indeed. You've already returned to the case as I tried to contact you. Cheers. CeeGee 13:50, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You could do a translation/paraphrase into Turkish of Doug's note. 7&6=thirteen () 15:06, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Here it is = this is what I sent (in English) on his Flickr email.

I write articles for Wikipedia.

www.flickr.com/photos/40425833@N04/8911647308/

Your picture is interesting and would fit into one or more of the articles I am presently writing on.
There is at least one tag in use that makes your picture not usable on Wikipedia. Would you consider downgrading your copyright tags to ONLY
"Attribution License" so I could use it on some Wikipedia articles.
Do you have any other similar pictures of the lighthouse?
Thanks for your consideration.

--Doug Coldwell (talk) 19:43, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi CeeGee, I don't usually have much luck with Panoramio images as they are usually 'All rights reserved', but I found the same one you had listed in the Elinks for the lighthouse and it was a free image. I have uploaded to commons and added to the article etc. It still needs a Panoramio review, but it looked good to me with the CC-BY-SA-3.0 licence...Jokulhlaup (talk:Jokulhlaup|talk) 10:18, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi @Jokulhlaup: It is really amazing. Great and nice job. The article looks now better and more attractive. Thank you very much. Unfortunately, I am not experienced in seaarching and downloading free images from the internet. I only upload my own images. Cheers. CeeGee 10:30, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • It looks like you are all set for a lighthouse picture. The picture now in the article is a better one than the Flickr picture. Thanks for the Turkish words. I am showing 7&6=thirteen how to capture and upload an image (copyright free or Fair Use). You might want to watch the conversation under his Talk page under sub-header "Taking pictures" and learn about pictures. I have a lot of experience with pictures because of my 400 Did You Knows. --Doug Coldwell (talk) 11:28, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you very much again. I'll follow that. Cheers. CeeGee 11:33, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Doug Coldwell: I checked out your posting about picture capturing. I do it by right-clicking on the picture and then selecting "Save as ...". The next step is to upload the saved file. Question: Is this another way for the same result? The only difference I noticed is that by your way the picture characteristics are captured also. I appreciate your comment. CeeGee 18:52, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Don't know any other ways, other than these two. With my method you can "crop" the picture, for things like a close-up. Also with my method you can cut out certain things on the edges that perhaps you don't want in the picture, whereas with "Save as ..." you get the complete picture as the original photographer took it (which might have things in the picture you do not want). If it is a copyright free picture for commercial use for Commons (i.e. Attribution license), then you can crop out the undesirable things you don't want = makes a cleaner picture. Make a "crop" of File:The Gulf of Fethiye. Kizilada Restaurant and Kızılada Feneri.jpg. Upload the new crop version to Commons under its picture where it says "Upload a new version of this file". In other words, it will be a close up. You should do this to see what happens and will give you picture experience. If you don't like you can always revert. I will watch the Commons picture and correct any mistakes. You can't make any mistakes that can't be corrected. You learn by experimenting! --Doug Coldwell (talk) 19:11, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

CeeGee, it looks like Captain Assassin did a bunch of copyedits that day and the next, but never came back to note that the edits were finished. I think you can assume that they are, and proceed with the review. If issues still remain, by all means say so, and if they're still major, say that. It is certainly not up to you to fix the article yourself, though if there are only a couple of minor things, you could if you wanted—sometimes it takes less time to make a fix than it does to explain it. Thank you very much, whatever you decide to do. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:29, 8 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Done BlueMoonset I missed the copyedits in the article made after my last review becaıse I was watching the DYK-nom page and not the article itself. And, there was no ciear note there. Besides, I feel myself compotent in doing minor changes or fixing errors but not essential ones. Thank you for your reminding. CeeGee 06:20, 8 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Vandalizm" İçin Yardım Ricası

Merhaba CeeGee,

Hi @Umi1903:! I understand what you mean. Users with rollback permission can revert multiple vandalism edits. I don't have that feature. However, if you give me specific detail on which date and time the article was latest correct then I can do it for you anyway. Vandalism is something we unfortunately have to live with. Assessing your own articles

[edit]

I'm not sure, but I don't think it's particularly ethical to declare the assessment of articles you have written pretty much exclusively yourself. While there's not much difference between stub and start class, it'd be better for you to find someone independent to make that decision. The Rambling Man (talk) 21:00, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @The Rambling Man: I don't see any unethical problem to assess or re-assess the articles I've created or edited. I simply assess as stub when the length is less then 1,500 prose chars and it's unstructured so that it's easier for consideration of DYK-nomination. I guess my experience allows me to judge and on the other hand if it's not appropriate we have sufficient WPians to recheck the assessment and correct it. I'd be happy to learn if there is a rule that it's not ethical, unpractical, unusual or even forbidden to do so how I'm doing. Please guide me in this case. Otherwise, I cannot accept your comment. CeeGee 05:15, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have nothing more to add to my original comment. It's interesting how this assessment came not long after I'd posted about it at the DYK talkpage, and the article ran the risk of being pulled. The Rambling Man (talk) 15:34, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • @The Rambling Man: If your claim is about the DYK-nom of Sevda Altunoluk, and my edits to remove the stub template from the article and re-assesment at its talk page then I have to say that you've made edits to the article but did not recognize the discrepancy. Because, I'd unfortunately missed to do it during the DYK nomination. Only by chance when I checked the article I've noticed the stub status, and I felt I have the right to correct it before something negative happens. On the other hand, I did not notice any remark of you in the matter. Even now I cannot see your comment anywhere. It is for me not understandable when you say my action risks its pulling. Why? The article length is surely over the limit and it was promoted long ago. Maybe you can explain. CeeGee 17:33, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Challenge

[edit]

Hi CeeGee. I know you do a lot of good work for Turkey on here. How many other editors do you know who work on Turkish topics? I was wondering if you'd be interested in me setting up Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Turkey), based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). Now it's not a contest in itself, it's designed to motivate people to inspire others to improve content and build something which is visible. The focus is more on quality improvements but new articles are welcome too. Eventually a Turkish National Contest would be created to fuel it, like Wikipedia:Awaken the Dragon, in which contestants can choose to keep the Amazon vouchers themselves or put them into book fund to help editors further improve Turkish-related topics by giving them the books they want. It will begin though as purely an improvement drive. If interested and you could get a couple of editors interested Nedim Ardoğa etc I will set something up.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:05, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sign and comment at the thread at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Turkey if interested, cheers.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:10, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Dr. Blofeld:! Thank you very much for making me aware of that project. I assume that you've contacted some of the user at Category:WikiProject Turkey participants. Yes sure, I will be do my best to assist you. At this moment, however, I have no clues. Regards. CeeGee 12:32, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks CeeGee. I've not contacted any of them personally but have left a notice at the talk page of WikiProject Turkey. As you're interested I will quickly notify some of them now. Cheers.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:35, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers, sign up on the project talk page at the bottom and I'll alert some of the others ;-)♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:42, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As I know you're an excellent editor and Turkey has some decent editors other than yourself I've created a page at Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Turkey). Hope to see it flourish and more people sign up!♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:54, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'll give it a month. If it doesn't start to take off, no worries, I can always delete it, but I think Turkey would benefit from a National Contest at some point.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:18, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Realistically, how possible would it be to approach a university or institution in Turkey with the idea of running a National Contest for Turkey, between English and Turkish wikipedia? If we could get some important people in Turkey interested you could hype up something like that and get some more contributors involved. Istanbul University, Ankara University and National Library of Turkey might be possible ones. Something which cna be used to publicize and raise esteem and bring us the editors we need.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:25, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Three months ago, a young Spanish woman contacted me, who also was an alumni of my university in Germany, and asked me to answer her survey about my activities at WP. She told me that it is part of her research work for her MSc degree in another German university. I found it very interesting that WP has become a research subject at a university. I know what you are talking about is quite different. I find your idea very interesting and useful. However, at this moment, I have no idea how can I ignite such an action. Let me think over it. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:27, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Teksan Generator

[edit]

Merhaba,
