Image tagging for Image:Acne amy.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Acne amy.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:05, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hey guys - i have looked up all i could find on image tagging, fair use, etc. but i do not know how to implement it. i want to claim that the image is protected under your fair use clause, and also add the copywrite info - that is held by Topps Chewing Gum, Inc. Where do I put this stuff? Thanks... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Girona7 (talkcontribs)

In what page will you place the image (since it's fair use)? You'd upload the image and use the appropriate tag in the Licensing section of the image page. Xiner (talk, email) 22:06, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry. Go to Image:Acne amy.jpg, click Edit this page, and use one of these. Xiner (talk, email) 22:30, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed {{no copyright holder|month=February|day=14|year=2007}} from the image. You added the correct license but have to remove that. Cheers. Xiner (talk, email) 22:55, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Acne_amy.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Acne_amy.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 19:06, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Sylvia Pressler

[edit]
Updated DYK query On March 3, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Sylvia Pressler, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Advice for edit-a-thon

[edit]

Hi! I am organizing an edit-a-thon at UMass Lowell and saw your stuff about the ADL edit-a-thon at Harvard. This is the first time I have done this. Any advice for the day of? I have been preparing heavily and promoting based on everything I have found so far. I am mostly worried about the actual event. Did you have to keep people focused? What happened on the day of? What did you, as the organizer have to do? You can post on my profile or email me at sara_marks at uml.edu --LibraryGurl (talk) 20:20, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Sallie W. Chisholm, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page American (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thanks for the barnstar. By the way, I just wrote an article about the scientist Min Chiu Li. If you have a minute, I'd very much appreciate if you could read it and give me your expert advice. GabrielF (talk) 16:43, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the review. I added a bit more detail about the chronology. I may tweak it a bit more. In terms of Li's later life and recognition - I was surprised at how little information was available. I have not been able to find an obituary. By contrast, there were several obituaries and memorial papers about Li's boss at NCI Roy Hertz. The only paper I could find that was specifically about Li came out in 2002, 22 years after his death. Hertz died in 2002 so this paper may have been an attempt to recognize Li in light of the tributes to Hertz. I've based a lot of the detail on Li's own account of his experiments. Ideally, if there were better third-party sources I wouldn't do this, but the fact that his retrospective paper appeared in a peer-reviewed journal, and that there are so few secondary sources that speak to his thinking and motivation give me some confidence in relying on this source. A logical next step, if I'm still interested in this topic, would be to write an article about Hertz.
I think this lack of information on his later life just makes your question of why he didn't receive more recognition - even a Nobel Prize nomination - more interesting. Reading between the lines from the fact that he was fired from NCI and that later articles focused on Hertz (in one case prompting Li to reply with a letter to the editor), I get the impression that Li was not particularly well liked. He also didn't seem to have that big of an impact after this initial work in the 1950s.
Setting aside the personal issues, was this Nobel-worthy work on its merits? Li was smart enough or lucky enough to find a cancer that just happened to be very responsive to chemotherapy. However, choriocarcinoma is a pretty rare form of cancer (it occurs in about 1 in 20,000 pregnancies in the US and perhaps 1 in 2,000 in parts of the developing world). Mukherjee cites a source that says curing choriocarcinoma saves about 35 lives in the US each year, which is great but pales in comparison to, say, lung cancer. I think the historical significance of Li's work was that it demonstrated that chemotherapy could be useful for solid tumors. Farber had previously shown that chemotherapy could have some (small) benefits for leukemia but chemotherapy was still seen as very experimental. So I think Li's work was an important iterative step, but not a huge breakthrough. Farber himself didn't win a Nobel Prize. I want to include some information about the incidence of choriocarcinoma in my article.
That leads back to your question about the connection with Jane C. Wright. Li doesn't cite her in his account - although he does credit another female scientist (Von Gilse, a Dutch researcher who worked with Li at Sloan-Kettering in 1954 - he doesn't give a first name) with using methotrexate to treat a melanoma patient. The patient didn't improve, but the experience gave Li the insight about the hCG levels. I don't have evidence that Wright directly influenced Li but I think she set the stage for a lot of subsequent work by trying methotrexate on solid tumors for the first time.
Anyway, thanks again for the review! I nominated the article as a DYK and it should be featured on the main page tomorrow night. Best, GabrielF (talk) 17:12, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How to check size - Joan Feynman

[edit]

Use Wikipedia:Did you know/DYKcheck. When you run it, it will tell you at the top of the page what the size is, and if it has been expanded 5X. — Maile (talk) 18:53, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks...Not sure I get the paste-in-URL route (it's not doing anything for me) but I appreciate the link. Girona7 (talk) 19:55, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I think maybe you also don't know you have a .js page. Try this:

1) Go to your main user page (not talk page), and up in the URL type a forward slash and after that these words: common.js, and then your Enter key. It will probably tell you no such page named User:Girona7/common.js exists and tell you that you can create the page. Click where it says you can create the page. It should open a blank edit box, just like you do in any other page, except up in your URL it will read: User:Girona7/common.js .

2) Copy and paste what is below into the blank edit box, and and hit your Enter key:

importScript('User:Shubinator/DYKcheck.js'); //DYKcheck tool

That should create your .js page with the DYKcheck tool in it. After that is created, look over to the left of your user page and see if in the Toolbox at the bottom it says DYK check. If it does, you're set up. All you have to do is go to any page and click the DYK check. It will run a check and tell you the count.

If you do not see the DYK check in the Toolbox, please post a message on Village pump (technical) and ask someone to look at your page to see what needs to be tweaked to get the DYK check into your toolbox. And good luck. — Maile (talk) 20:30, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there!

I was very flattered that you thanked me for your DYK message, but unfortunately, the message was sent by a bot, so I cannot take any credit for it whatsoever.

Having said that (I don't know if you did), it would be really nice if you said thank you to your reviewers next time. Everyone is just doing something they love, so there's no need to say thank you, but that was really, really nice and I don't deserve it.

Lastly, thank you! Wonderful article. Really happy it got on the main page. PanydThe muffin is not subtle 16:40, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Linda Katehi: Involvement in STEM

[edit]

Hello Girona7! I found your name on the list of members at the WikiProject Women scientists page and wanted to ask you for your help. Maybe you've seen the message I left on the Women scientists discussion page last week, but I'm looking for someone to help with part of the article for UC Davis chancellor Linda Katehi.

Right now the information under the "Involvement in STEM" heading in her article is actually just about STEM in California in general. I'd like to replace this information with a few paragraphs that are about Katehi instead.

I am aware, as an editor with a conflict of interest, that I shouldn't fix up this information myself so I have shared on the article's discussion page a few paragraphs that I think would be a good replacement. Here is my earlier message. Would you be able to take a look at this and maybe help me out?

Thank you for looking at this. LindaF UC Davis (talk) 21:06, 11 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again Girona7! I replied to your message on the Linda Katehi discussion page, would you mind taking a quick look? Thanks! LindaF UC Davis (talk) 17:06, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Girona7. If you haven't seen, Kirill Lokshin added my replacement into the article, so the request is now taken care of. Thank you for your help here. Would you be interested in reviewing the updated information I'm putting together for the "Work" section of Linda's article?
Thanks again! LindaF UC Davis (talk) 17:45, 13 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi LindaF UC Davis - I'm glad it worked out. Thanks for your efforts to improve Wikipedia! By the way, if you are ever interested in getting other UC Davis community members to improve articles on UC Davis-related topics, you might consider an edit-a-thon. My opinion is that conflicts of interest can vary in degree, and that sometimes it's perfectly fine to make edits, even if you have a connection to the subject, so long as you are transparent about it, as you have been in this one case. Edit-a-thons that cover location-based or university-based themes are relatively common, and a great way to introduce students, faculty, and staff to Wikipedia. For more information on how to get one going, check out this page. Girona7 (talk) 18:16, 13 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Linda Katehi: Work

[edit]

Hello again Girona7! It took me a little longer than I thought it would, but I've pasted another portion of the Linda Katehi article on the discussion page for other editors to look over. I've rewritten the information under the "Work" heading this time, because it doesn't have footnotes to support the information, which I understand information on Wikipedia should have. Here is the new message about this if you're able to help out again.

Linda Katehi: Reorganization and 2011 Occupy protest

[edit]

Hello, Girona7. Thank you again for your previous help on the Linda Katehi page under the "Involvement in STEM" heading. Very recently, I've left two new messages on the discussion page for editors to look over about restructuring the entire article in order to organize the information more logically and about condensing the information about the protest in 2011, so that the section just focuses on Katehi's actions. Here is the new message about reorganizing the page and my other message is directly below that one. If you're able to help out again can you look over either, or both if you have time, of these messages and let me know what you think?

Thank you for looking at this. LindaF UC Davis (talk) 23:55, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LindaF UC Davis. I appreciate the work you are trying to do for Katehi's page. At the same time, I don't really have the time to review this right now, and I'm going to be honest and throw out there that I'm also not sure I agree with your taking so much energy to restructure her page, knowing the direct relationship you have with UC Davis. As I've said previously, I appreciate your honesty in disclosing your relationship, but at the same time, I would remind you that Wikipedia is not a platform for publicity. The edits from last time seemed appropriate, but when you start asking to condense or remove content relating to a controversy, that raises a red flag for me. question

[edit]

Hi Girona7! I have a question: if there is something in an entry that is totally weird and irrelevant, is it OK to delete it without going to the talk page for the entry and asking? What are the rules for making major revisions (send me to the info page so you don't have to explain from scratch!). Thanks!! Shaslang (talk) 00:55, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Shaslang. Yes, you can just delete anything that's odd or strange or that doesn't make sense. You don't have to leave a talk page message, but you should definitely leave a note in the "Edit Summary" field (right above "save page" / "preview" buttons). Here's a page on basic editing policies, including removing stuff. Personally, I suggest you make a number of smaller deletions rather than one larger deletion if possible so that a) you can more easily explain why you are removing each bundle of text w/o having to use the talk page; and b) if other ppl have issues with what you did, they won't revert the whole thing, but only the part they have issues with. Hope that helps... Girona7 (talk) 01:32, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • To be a little talkpagestalkish and chime in - @Shaslang:, I forget what article it was, but at one point I deleted more than 10,000 words in one edit from an article because I thought the article was better without any of those words in it. With really big deletions like that it's definitely better to make a talk page note about it, but I'd highly encourage you to go ahead and delete stuff that just doesn't make sense when you come across it. In academic settings there's sometimes a hesitancy or reluctance to make mass deletions when someone asks you to edit their writing, but the same thing doesn't quite apply here, because articles don't belong to anyone in particular. (Of course, some people will still get offended when you delete content from an article - but plenty of weird things happen on Wikipedia, and that's usually one of the easier situations to calm down.) Also, hi Girona! I think I met you in DC previously though I'm not sure, but have been an online collaborator of Sally's for a while. Kevin Gorman (talk) 03:46, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Adrianne Wadewitz Memorial edit-a-thons

[edit]
Adrianne Wadewitz edit-a-thons in Southern New England

As you may have already heard, the Wikipedia community lost an invaluable member of the community last month. Adrianne Wadewitz was a feminist scholar of 18th-Century British literature, and a prolific editor of the site. As part of a worldwide series of tributes, New England Wikimedians, in conjunction with local institutions of higher learning, have created three edit-a-thons that will be occurring in May and June. The events are as follows:

We hope that you will be able to join us, whether you are an experienced editor or are using Wikipedia for the first time.

If you have any questions, please leave a message at Kevin Rutherford's talk page. You can unsubscribe from future notifications for Boston-area events by removing your name from this list.

Wiki Loves Pride

[edit]
You are invited! Wiki Loves Pride

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride, a global campaign to create and improve LGBT-related content at Wikipedia during the month of June, culminating with a multinational edit-a-thon on June 21. The project is being spearheaded by two organizers with roots in the Pacific Northwest. Meetups are being organized in some cities, or you can participate remotely. Wikimedia Commons will also be hosting an LGBT-related photo challenge.

In Portland, there are two ways to contribute. One is a photography campaign called "Pride PDX", for pictures related to LGBT culture and history. The Wiki Loves Pride edit-a-thon will be held on Saturday, June 21 from noon–4pm at Smith Memorial Student Union, Room 236 at Portland State University. Prior Wikipedia editing is not required; assistance will be available the day of the event. Attendees should bring their own laptops and cords.

Feel free to showcase your work here!

If you have any questions, please leave a message here. You can unsubscribe from future notifications for Oregon-related events and projects by removing your name from this list.

Edit-a-thons!

[edit]

Maia, thanks for hosting the recent gathering on Edit-a-thons. We're discussing the possibility of hosting something here at Houghton Library. Because of your substantial experience with these sorts of gatherings (and you're so close by!), I wondered if you might be willing to help either in planning or executing a Houghton Edit-a-thon. We are still in the very, very early planning stages so everything is fairly conceptual right now. Feel free to message me on my talk page or email. Best, --Rob at Houghton (talk) 13:23, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Rob at Houghton! Can you give me a sense of when you were thinking of doing this? Unfortunately my summer is rather booked at the moment, but let me know your desired timing. Truthfully, my schedule becomes much freer after Ada Lovelace Day in mid-October, so if you can wait that long, late Oct or early Nov could work for me. Best, Girona7 (talk) 16:42, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Rob, I'm also willing to help out in the meantime if Maia is busy during that date, either on-site or from afar. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 02:45, 13 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It hasn't been confirmed how long my appointment here will last but I think we're aiming for September; conversations have been more conceptual so far and few details are solidified. We considered making this an "internal" rather than "public" editathon, for what it's worth. As more decisions are made, I'll keep you both in the loop. --Rob at Houghton (talk) 13:11, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Soliciting Feedback for Art+Feminism grants

[edit]

Hi Girona7, we are laying plans for the 2015 Art+Feminism editathon. As part of this process we have written two linked PEG and IEG grants. We have given extensive community notice, but haven’t generated substantial feedback. As one of the Satellite Event organizers we would really like your feedback, comments and questions, and if you support the grants, your endorsement of one or both of them. Additionally, we have confirmed International Women's Day, March 8th 2015 as the date of the international editathon. We hope you will be able to participate, as an organizer, facilitator, or participant. On behalf of my co-organizers. --Theredproject (talk) 21:17, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't remove the redlink from Price Waterhouse v. Hopkins because I assume you're planning to create the article soon - I don't see any obvious indication that Ann is notable in her own right (apart from being part of this case), so I'm interested to see what you've come up with :) just a heads up that I have an eye on the article and I'll probably remove the redlink sometime soon if it doesn't appear. --MarkTraceur (talk) 15:21, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @MarkTraceur. Thanks for your note. I would appreciate it if you didn't remove the redlink. Among other things, that she is mostly notable for this case doesn't make her not notable. (There are plenty of Supreme Court plaintiffs or defendants who became notable because of the case in question.) I don't have the time to create an article for Hopkins immediately, but I have alerted several Wikipedians that this would be a good subject, and I'm sure one of us will get to it soon. There are plenty of references to her notability that I do not have time to dig up at the moment. Please let me know if you have any other questions :) Girona7 (talk) 16:52, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's my understanding - admittedly maybe flawed - that if your fame is due to one event, then that event should be covered, and not you personally. I'd imagine most plaintiffs/defendants who become famous are covered independently of the trial coverage, or at least the trial coverage includes coverage of them personally as well as coverage of the background of the case. I guess this could be a sort of grey area, but I'm happy to back off of this one :) --MarkTraceur (talk) 18:54, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure where you're getting that info from; plenty of people are famous for one event, and they themselves also deserve a page in addition to the event. Rosa Parks would be one very obvious example. Or, if you want an example from a Supreme Court case, take William Marbury from Marbury v. Madison. In any case, I assure you that the article for Ann Hopkins would/will meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Thanks! Girona7 (talk) 18:44, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi user:Girona7, I hope this finds you well. I am mining data from different editathons that took place from September 1 (2013) to September 31 (2014), to include this in the second round of data collection. I have gathered some information as regards articles edited, bytes added and users that took part, but I still have some questions regarding the inputs and I would also like to ask about your impressions. Can you please get back to me to my talk page or email mcruz [at] wikimedia [dot] org? Thanks! MCruz (WMF) (talk) 18:36, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, LibraryGurl. Thanks for reaching out. This sounds like a fun event, but unfortunately I cannot attend. Let me reach out to a few people to see if anyone from our local group might be able/willing to come out for this. I will have them get in touch with you directly if so. If you would like, we can also create an event for this on our Meetup, even if we don't have a Wikimedian who can act as an ambassador. Girona7 (talk) 04:26, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks and help finding an ambassador would be great. I don't believe Wikimedia will fund the grant if we can't get an ambassador. We do have a page for the event on Wikipedia, but getting it listed as an event through Meet Up would be great. Thank you for your help and maybe you can come to one other events in 2015. --LibraryGurl (talk) 19:17, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ann Hopkins, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page William Brennan. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

DYK

[edit]

Thank you for your note on my talk page. The seven days period is for the initial nomination of the article at DYK after its creation or expansion. After it has been nominated, reviews and negotiations may take place over a period of days or weeks before an acceptable hook is arrived at. The nomination date is the only time critical one.

If you want to keep an eye on an article, or in this case a DYK nomination, you can add it to your watchlist by clicking the star next to "View history" tab near the top of the page. After that, clicking on your "watchlist" tag informs you of any activity on your watchlisted pages (it took me ages to discover this). Happy New Year! Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:00, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the clarification, Cwmhiraeth. Didn't think to put the nomination on my watchlist, but I'll do that for reviews moving forward. Happy new year! Girona7 (talk) 23:12, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Test Kaffeeklatsch area for women-only

[edit]

Since WikiProject Women as proposed at the IdeaLab may take some time to realize, and based on a discussion on the proposal's talk page, I have started a test Kaffeeklatsch area for women only (cisgender or trans-woman, regardless of sexual orientation).

It is a place where women can go and be sure they'll be able to participate in discussions without being dominated by men's advice, criticism, and explanations. If interested, your participation would be most welcome. Lightbreather (talk) 23:12, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Edit-a-thon Draft Report on Meta

[edit]

Hello Girona7, I’m from the Program Evaluation & Design team at the WMF. Late last year we received data on edit-a-thons which were completed between September 2013 and September 2014--now the edit-a-thon evaluation report draft is ready for your review. I'm reaching out now because we would love your feedback before we announce the report to the broader community.

  • Does the analysis and presentation resonate with your programs?
  • How is the report useful to you as a program leader?
  • What other data would help to tell the story of edit-a-thons?

Also, would you be willing to contribute a quote for the report? For example, your edit-a-thon was particularly successful at generating content and including a high proportion of new users. What do you think was the biggest contributing factor to that success? If you can send a quote by August 16th I would love to include it in the report.

We were able to present 121 edit-a-thons that brought in 2,275 participants and included 5,272 articles created or improved. We expect that this report will help our communities have a more comprehensive view of editathons around the world.

If you want to discuss edit-a-thons and the report findings with other program leaders, we’re hosting a virtual panel of program leaders with group discussion on the themes and findings the week of August 24th. If you have key themes you would like to discuss in the hangout, please do share them on the report talk page!

The estimated plan for review:

  • Program leaders who submitted data to review until August 16.
  • L&E to incorporate feedback and announce on the PE&D mailing list and social media the week of August 17.
  • WMF blog post and a virtual panel the week of August 24.

Thank you again for all your work to track and showcase the results of your edit-a-thons. If you can give feedback on this report, we would appreciate the chance to highlight program leader insights and improve both this and future reports. Abittaker (WMF) (talk) 16:55, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for not getting back to you on this in a timely manner, Abittaker (WMF). Haven't had as much time to devote to Wikipedia this year, I'm afraid. Girona7 (talk) 16:16, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for letting me know, Girona7. Hope you have a nice and relaxing wikibreak. Abittaker (WMF) (talk) 20:42, 27 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Movement Wide Finance Report 2014

[edit]

Dear Girona7,

I’m Alex, currently a finance fellow (i.e intern) at the Wikimedia Foundation. I worked before for Wikimedia France, planning the Hackathon Lyon 2015 mainly. I'm today contacting you because of your activity for Wikimedia New England User Group. Kevin Rutherford told me to contact you.

Last year, Finance Fellows produced a financial report that included financial activity from every chapters. It was great and has been presented at the Wikimania in Mexico.

If you haven’t seen the results of the Report 2013, here they are: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Chapter-wide_Financial_Trends_Report_2013

We’re currently starting the Report 2014 and this year we also want to include user groups to improve the scope of our work. I want to tell you that I’ve tried to make the process as short and easy as possible, so that shouldn’t require a lot of your time.

The aim of such a report is global. It helps having an idea of how the money is used across the movement, it helps chapters and user groups to learn about best practice and finally it leads to more transparency through a qualitative work, which I believe is important.

Could you briefly tell me if you had any income and expenses in 2014? If you are not the person responsible for this, please tell me who is the user the most likely to know this information.

I’ll be your contact for this project this year, I’m looking forward to working with you!

ACella (WMF) (talk) 22:19, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi ACella (WMF). Please email me your request. You can find my contact info through the first link on my userpage. Thanks. Girona7 (talk) 16:10, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Girona7 -- After a editathon which looks to have been organised by you, new editor Jenmul created an article on Mona Jhaveri, which was swiftly tagged for speedy deletion. I've declined the speedy but the subject's notability probably isn't clearly enough demonstrated and I fear further deletion efforts -- could you help Jenmul out with improving it? Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 00:35, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Espresso Addict, and thanks for your note. Appreciate the help on removing the deletion request. I will see if I can find further articles supporting her notability, but she seemed notable enough to me based on the existing source materials. I will also take a closer look at the reasoning for the tag placed on the article related to "close paraphrasing." I'll suggest improvements to the article's creator but can't guarantee follow-up, so I'll keep an eye on it myself. Cheers, Girona7 (talk) 21:59, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Girona7! I might have time to do some work on this myself but I tend to get distracted by fresh deletion requests on salvageable articles. I wasn't sure why the close paraphrasing tag was placed, as on a very quick look it didn't look to be a particular concern. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 22:21, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Super, thank you very much, Espresso Addict! Girona7 (talk) 23:19, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in study

[edit]

Hello,

I am E. Whittaker, an intern at Wikimedia with the Scoring Team to create a labeled dataset, and potentially a tool, to help editors deal with incivility when they encounter it on talk pages. A full write-up of the study can be found here: m:Research:Civil_Behavior_Interviews. We are currently recruiting editors to be interviewed about their experiences with incivility on talk pages. Would you be interested in being interviewed? I am contacting you because of your involvement in Wikipedia’s Women in Red project. The interviews should take ~1 hour, and will be conducted over BlueJeans (which does allow interviews to be recorded). If, so, please email me at ewhit@umich.edu in order to schedule an interview.

DYK for Mindy Alper

[edit]

On 18 August 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Mindy Alper, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Mindy Alper, the visual artist featured in Heaven Is a Traffic Jam on the 405, helped Mary Stuart Masterson prepare for her role as a mentally ill woman in the 1993 film Benny & Joon? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Mindy Alper. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Mindy Alper), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
