Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management or PITAM is an Engineering college in Aranvoyal Kuppam, Poonamallee, Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, India.[1]
History[edit]
Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management ( PITAM ), Chennai, is a dream project of Prathyusha Group, a rapidly developing Business House in the country, with diversified activities and a strong presence in the fields of shipping, fertilizers, aquaculture, power, construction, transport, trading and exports.
Prathyusha Group made an extensive study of the functioning of premier educational institutions in India and abroad and had an extensive consultation with Industry, academicians and scholars, the efforts of which finally culminated in laying the foundation for the college in 2001.Even before the college commenced its function, an elaborate plan was drawn up for acclimatizing and absorbing the students predominantly hailing from a rural background, into an environment demanding learning of frontier technologies.
PRATHYUSHA's MOTTO: "Shradhavan Labhyathe Gnanam" which means - True seekers of knowledge shall attain it.
Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management offers course that span is spread of key discipline from engineering to business Management. PITAM has plan to develops strategic partnership which a few countries in the west to embark on the best, but we remain a comparatively simple,
personal and highly focused institution committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching and training.
The Institute maintains high standard of technical and management eduction by providing a wide array of word-class academic facilities like separate Administration Block, Academic Wing for each department, laboratories and workshops, state of the art computer labs, spacious classrooms, well-stocked library, seminar halls, conference hall, auditorium, canteen, dining hall with hygienic kitchen, vast playground, landscaped garden and separate hostel blocks for boys and girls and employing highly qualified and experienced faculty members and thus creating an ambiance quite congenial and conducive to quality education.
PITAM is open to any possibility of collaboration with Foreign Universities and arrangements are begin made for faculty contacts and network programmes with developed countries in ordered to incorporate the "Best of the West".

Lab Facility:[edit]
The Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management boasts of sophisticated and world class computing Lab facilities with more than 1500 computers that make the learning process thoroughly meaningful and productive for the student. The Labs have high speed Internet connection of 12 Mbps leased line (throughout the campus) using Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) and the campus is a fully WIFI campus. This ensures quick and hassle free Internet access to students and staff. The mega computing lab is equipped with the following labs with high tech Blade servers.

To promote a spirit of continuous learning among its students the Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management College assures peaceful and enriching hours in the library. One of the major highlights of the Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management College is its 35000 sq.ft air conditioned central library that has a seating capacity of 500. It has about 38196 volumes and 8939 titles of books that value around Rs. 2 Crores. In addition to which, the library also subscribes to 288 International and National journals , IEEE online transaction transaction, ACM digital Library and periodicals.
In this fully automated library, students and staff members can search for books by author, title or subject heading and their availability. Each student is given 3 library books at a time and they have allocated library hours/week. A fully equipped conference hall is also available in the central library. The Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management Library is an institutional member of prestigious libraries such as the British Council Library , Anna University and IIT Chennai.
Digital Library
Keeping pace with the advancements in technology and the need for automated library management system a digital library has been established. The digital library consists of 90 computer terminals with online access facilities; through this system e-journals that are published around the globe can be browsed. The digital library is well stocked with various CDs that have audio visual presentationon technical concepts.

The total number of computers is around 250 HCL Branded desktop systems. The configuration includes Core2Duo @ 3.0 GHz, 2 GB DDR2 RAM, 320 GB HDD, 18.5" TFT Monitor, USB Keyboard and USB Optical Mouse
Basic Computing & Programming Lab
This lab has 120 HP Branded desktop systems. The configuration includes P IV 2.66 GHz, 512 MB DDR1 RAM, 160 GB HDD, 17" CRT Monitor, USB Keyboard & USB Optical Mouse
Autocad Lab
This Lab has 62 HP Branded Desktop Systems, Plotter. The configuration includes HP DX2480, Core2Duo 2.66 GHz, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160 GB SATA HDD, 15" CRT Monitor, USB Keyboard & USB Optical Mouse
Internet facility & wi-fi
College has 4 MBPS Internet Leased Line. Around 500 Desktop Systems are connected for internet service. The college also has state of art Wi-Fi Facility
Seminar / Auditorium Hall[edit]
Engineering education is an intellectual celebration at the Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management, and standing testimony to this is the Seminar Hall.
This spaciously built seminar hall is centrally air conditioned and has a seating capacity of 500. It is furnished with the necessary audio visual aids such as LCD projectors, CD ROM, Overhead projectors, Television set, Digital white boards, etc enabling multimedia presentations.
The guest lectures, project presentations, science exhibitions, paper presentations, etc. are held here. Very often the seminar hall hosts placement interviews, where in students from various colleges assemble here to attend these discussions.
Canteen and Cafeteria[edit]
South Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, hygienically prepared by trained chefs is served every day to suit all. The Menu is designed taking into consideration the nutritional and calorific requirements of the student. High emphasis is placed on Quality and Quantity. Separate dining facilities are provided for men and women.
The Canteen offers snacks during lunch / break time. In addition to hygienic food it provides, the canteen provides stationary items and notebooks.

Report on sports day
PASPORT 2010, Prathyusha's State Level Annual Sports Trophy and the 10th Annual Sports Meet of Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management was inaugurated on 24th March 2010 at 9am on the College premises. Dr. N. Gunasekaran, the Principal of the college delivered the welcome address. Shri.Su. Arunachalam, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Police Training College, Chennai, was the Chief Guest. Ms. P. Prathyusha, the CEO of Prathyusha Group of Companies presided over the function. Dr.P.M. Beulah Devamalar spoke on the relevance of the occasion and gave an introduction to PASPORT'2010.
After a short, formal inaugural session, the students of the College performed gymnastic feats. The colourful fete displayed by the students was amazing and breathtaking. Following this, the Chief Guest formally started the Tournament. The tournament went on for two days. -- Colleges from all over the State participated in the tournament.
The valedictory function was held on 25th March, 2010. Shri. Dr. K. R. Shyam Sunder, IPS, Additional Director General of Police & Inspector General of Prisons, Tamil Nadu was the Chief Guest. Shri. P. Raja Rao, Chairman, Prathyusha Group of Companies presided over the function. Prizes were distributed to the winners in various sports and athletic events. _________ College won the Prathyusha Annual Sports Trophy for Volley Ball Tournament. ___________College team was the runner up.
Students of Prathyusha participated in various inter zonal sports tournaments and won in Boxing, Ball Badminton and Shuttle cock. They did the College proud by winning11 gold, 4 silver and 2 Bronze medals in athletics, boxing and other games conducted by Anna University.
Prathyusha conducted intramural competitions for athletics shot put, long jump, discuss and javelin for boys and girls separately. 72 medals have been presented to the boys and girls for individual events and 328 cups have been presented for group events. 4 shields were presented as overall championship shields in Sports and Games.
Villgro[edit]
Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management in association with Vellore Institute of Technology- Technology Business Incubator (VIT-TBI) inaugurated Villgro MY IDEA PROGRAM on February 8, 2010 at PITAM.
This program is about giving a cut edge technology for rural development and the students presented their innovative ideas that bring in a difference in villages at national level and globally as well.
Mr.Dinesh Chandra Siva, Associate Manager, Campus and Recruitment relations, Infosys, Chengalpet was the chief guest at the function. He gave an insight into the recent developments in the IT field and the growing demand for potential and competent engineers. He emphasized the need for grooming their creative, analytic and innovative abilities which will enable them to meet the global standards. He further added that the students should be encouraged to take more extensive research work in their chosen field.
Later the students displayed their creative talents through their novel ideas. Dr.S.K.Srivatsa, Prof, MIT and Dr.G.T.Mahohar, Prof, IIT MADARAS were the judges for the event. Their intelligence and practical knowledge and exposure really helped the students to realize what is being missed out in their papers and how to further analyze logically and creatively to defend their brilliant ideas. Shri.A.K.Pattabiraman, Principal Consultant, TCS, delivered the valedictory address at a colourful valedictory function held on the same day.
Cultural Activities[edit]
Culture refers to the pattern of human activity and the symbols, which give significance to this activity. Culture is represented through the art, literature, costumes, customs and traditions of a community.
To elucidate the same, the college hosts cultural day every year to showcase their artistic skills and co-curricular talents.The cultural day is organized in the month of March every year and moreover the college permits students to participate in the various inter-collegiate cultural competitions that is held in various parts of the city. PITAM accords recognition to the artistic talents of the students and their various manifestations in the contemporary creativity of their young minds. It is a week fest with events spanning various categories like Techincal, Literary, Fine Arts, Gaming, Quizzing, Cultural etc.
The ON stage events like Light Music (Vocal and Instrumental), Dance, Adzap, Dramatics, Dumb Charades are conducted both for boys and girls. Also the various OFF stage events like Vegetable Carving, Jewellery Designing, Mehndi Designing, Pot-Painting, Collage, Face Painting, JAM, Block N Tackle, Rangoli are conducted to encourage and entitle the underlying talents of students.
The College Day ws baptized as FUN N BLAST earlier and now it is renamed as PRAVRITHI '10-PRATHYUSHA'S CULTURAL POT-POURRI. This year PRAVRITHI'10 was one of the best fests in the history of PITAM as it was propagated by certain music and tv celebrities who absolutely portrayed their success stories & achievements that promotes the endeavours of the young generation. Further there were quite a number of rocking performances by our students that was appealing to the celebrities.
This Year had been a golden period for PITAM as students made novel advances in bagging prizes in various inter-collegiate competitions that was held across the city. Students won prizes in cultural competitions held in INDIRA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, VELAMMAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY & MANAGEMENT (CATALYST'09) and participated in other colleges where they could enable themselves to clear the prelims as SRM UNIVERSITY, ANNA UNIVERSITY (TECHNOFEST'10), VIT, JERUSALEM ENGINEERING COLLEGE, ARIGNAR ANNA ENGINEERING COLLEGE and so on.
