Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary confirmed protection: Edit war between IP user and registered user. The registered user is going against a consensus reached in the talk page 2603:7000:1F00:6B91:7451:57D1:C907:3442 (talk) 22:14, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Changed target from the redirect Desmond Amofah to the actual article, Etika. Favonian (talk) 12:51, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Various IPs (including a school IP) keep adding themselves as "owners", possibly due to a feature of the league called "owners box" that allows anyone to invest a few dollars to a GoFundMe-like page and be called an "owner". Yosemiter (talk) 13:31, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Target of WP:LTA/BMX. aeschyIus (talk) 14:01, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protected --Deepfriedokra (talk) 14:13, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Note: For those playing from home, starting here and going up. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 14:13, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Almost every edit is vandalism by unregistered users. Last edit that wasn't vandalism or users reverting vandalism was in November of 2020.  Zachary Daiquiri  Talk? 14:37, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Page's current protection needs to be upped to semi-protection, due to continued disruptive editing by sock-hopping IP ranges. livelikemusic (TALK!) 14:42, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent vandalism by anonymous editors, as well as continued failure to comply with several MOS:ACCESS policies. livelikemusic (TALK!) 14:59, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. LOMRJYO(talkcontrib) 15:04, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Extended-confirmed protection: Topic of article is a proponent of COVID theories, cited on the page as a producer of misinformation. Recent edits include IP edits and edit warring by previously sanctioned users, both POV-pushing the COVID lab leak theory. Appears to be a low-traffic dumping ground for users who can't attempt problematic edits on higher-visibility COVID articles where this level of protection is broadly used. Suggest the same protection apply here to an article notable only for its relation to COVID mosinformation. Bakkster Man (talk) 15:37, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Permanent extended-confirmed protection: Vandalism, WP:ARBPIA 30/500 enforcement. Ongoing events. -76.71.120.76 (talk) 15:48, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Various IPs have kept adding countries to the list of ACP members for a few months. The same problem occurred at the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018 (and was dealt with by another user). Some of the implicated IPvandals also vandalise other articles; others are focused on this one; but the pattern is the same for both categories. Ydecreux (talk) 16:12, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi--protection: Persistent vandalism. Semi-protection expired today and just like the last time, the vandalism continues. KittenKlub (talk) 17:27, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent disruptive editing. Woodroar (talk) 17:41, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    2 Year Semi-protection: Continued vandalism after the protection expired 9 days ago. 2600:1004:B02F:BA9F:EC2E:12D4:5C9B:5D55 (talk) 17:42, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Continued BLP Violations done by IP’s. 2600:1004:B02F:BA9F:EC2E:12D4:5C9B:5D55 (talk) 18:05, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. aeschyIus (talk) 18:13, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    "Mediacorp 5" Singaporan vandalism

Semi-protection: We've had vandalism of the same nature strike on these pages once again. Would like to request this protection, permanently - it was done for America's Got Talent (season 3), after an admin decided the repeated vandalism on that page in the exact same nature had not died down ever since it began. Considering the trouble these editors do, it's clear they will not listen, not learn, and not give up doing this.GUtt01 (talk) 19:04, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protected --Deepfriedokra (talk) 19:24, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: pending changes has been useless on this page; it is still frequently vandalised by IPs and newcomers. This level is the only way to go. 🐍 Helen 🐍 19:18, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protected --Deepfriedokra (talk) 19:21, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: IP-jumping account adding tons of unsourced text into this BLP. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 19:51, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Various IPs are currently participating in an edit war. –Skywatcher68 (talk) 20:44, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Template-editor protection. This isn't particularly administrative, and it need not be locked down to admin-only editing. Being an admin doesn't magically make someone competent at template coding. :-)  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  23:46, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unprotection: Fully-protected during a naming dispute over twelve years ago by Someguy1221 who seems to have stopped activity this March. The history of vandalism before the protection was applied is not excessive and the parent article history implies that the last outburst was in 2017. The protection has forced a double-redirect to remain and there is a current edit request to fix the double redirect. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 20:22, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Create a level 3 header with a link to the article in question, then a {{pagelinks}} template and then the reason.
