The ref used in the page was from 3rd party to provide an opportunity for the users and researcher to find info from outside the company not just through Booking site. -Khaled Attalla 16:28, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

Revision as of 16:28, 15 December 2013

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in "articles for deletion" debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request diirectly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions on the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Westleigh Rush (Footballer)

Hi there,

Regarding your request for Westleigh Rush's page to be deleted, I feel that everything I put was factually correct. Westleigh rush is a real person and I checked with him that it was all appropriate and relevant. I stated the relevance of this "person" that he was an English Footballer. I don't really know what more to do, this is my first submitted piece on Wikipedia. Please tell me what I have done incorrectly and inform me of it so I can amend it.

Thankyou,

Foxymush481. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Foxymush481 (talkcontribs) 20:04, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. Wikipedia is quite choosy about article subjects. Just being a real person and a footballer is not enough to have an article. The WP:Notability standard for footballers is at WP:NFOOTBALL - the player must actually have played for the first team in a fully-professional league. Being in a youth team or the reserves is not enough. When Westleigh has taken the field for Walsall's first team will be the time for an article, and it will need a reference to a reliable source to verify it. Read WP:Your first article for general advice. JohnCD (talk) 22:42, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

LaTeXML

This system for translating LaTeX source to XML is a substantial open software contribution in the area of technical publishing and is worthy of a page describing its capabilities, historical evolution, and applications. -Gpetty (talk) 17:03, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I agree -- furthermore, different methods of converting between content formats (such as tex and XML) can be confusing, and of substantial interest to self-publishers (eg. academics), so articles giving overviews of the tools and history are useful.  Not done - this was deleted as, to quote the deleting administrator, "simply an advertisement full of the normal peacockery".  Not done, because I see you have re-created the page. It will not be accepted in its present form: read WP:Your first article for advice, and note particularly that references are necessary (a) because of the Wikipedia:Verifiability policy: "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source" and (b) in order to establish Wikipedia:Notability, which requires references to significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. Big Chief Mkuja

reasoning -Kahouna Dreaming (talk) 00:24, 11 December 2013 (UTC) 1=Big Chief Mkuja 2=This page was deleted with little or no participation other than the nominator. The page met at least three of the criteria i.e. 2 notable musicians and 1 national media coverage. (firstly point 6- Is an ensemble which contains two or more independently notable musicians, or is a musician who has been a reasonably-prominent member of two or more independently notable ensembles.[note 6] This should be adapted appropriately for musical genre; for example, having performed two lead roles at major opera houses.) and secondly point 12-Has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network.[reply]

Enough time was not allowed for any pro arguments to be made. This page was deleted in a perfunctory and undemocratic manner not allowing hardly any time for any pro arguments to be made.

  • Comment from deleting admin - this is not a valid entry. Nothing the company respresentative wrote above has any bearing on Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, namely WP:CORP. Furthermore, Samsocial does not appear to understand one of our core policies, that Wikipedia is not a publicity medium, and should review Wikipedia:Conflict of interest before making further contributions.

Both articles I deleted, X500 - Drive and X500 drive were deleted under WP:CSD#A3 (article had only an infobox) and WP:CSD#G11 (article appeared to exist for publicity purposes only). Joseph Hallman

reasoning -Ravpapa (talk) 06:34, 12 December 2013 (UTC) Actually, this is not really a request to undelete this article, but a request to create a new one on the same topic.[reply]

A few years ago, composer Joseph Hallman - then a completely unknown whippersnapper from Philadelphia - wrote a panagyric about himself in this encyclopedia. It was me who moved to delete the article. I don't know who the deleting admin was, and can't seem to find his name when I look for it.

Since then, Hallman has made a bit of a name for himself. He teaches composition at a respectable university (Drexel), he is composer in residence for a couple of institutions, and his works have been performed by serious orchestras and chamber groups and reviewed. So the time has come that he does indeed deserve an article.

I am prepared to create this article anew, but how do I insure that it will not be speedy deleted?

Thanks for your help and patience. --Ravpapa (talk) 06:34, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is an interesting one, and a change from the usual requests here. The article was deleted after an AfD debate at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Joseph Hallman, so if re-created would be in danger of speedy deletion under WP:CSD#G4. What you need to do is make a draft article and then approach user Tone (talk), the administrator who closed the discussion, with a link to your draft, and ask for permission to post it. Failing that, you can apply at WP:Deletion review. I have userfied the article for you to User:Ravpapa/Joseph Hallman as a starting point, though it will need a fairly thorough rewrite. There are already several references to him in other articles, which looks hopeful. JohnCD (talk) 11:55, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article was deleted as it was believed to be heavily promotional. Reading Chinavasions page, I see no difference in choice of verbiage; in fact, I clearly disclosed at the top of the page that additional citations may be required so others could help make the page better. I suggest no sales or visits to the site, I made no references to the page being 'the best', and the individual that deleted my page never specifically pointed out what verbiage was 'promotional' in nature. George Anson Starkweather (Michigan)

reasoning -Nadsab (talk) 15:54, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

George Anson Starkweather (Michigan)

The file that was deleted from Wikipedia, GeoStarkweather.jpg, and which I uploaded several years ago, is a portrait of my GG Grandfather. I scanned it from an original photograph which was created in the 1890's and has been in our family since the 1890's. I took the time to write a little paragraph about him and about the local history associated - was the original creator of that page, and upoladed photo of him. This disputed photograph that was deleted by WIki - apparently by Stefan2 earlier this year.

If there is any question related to the reference of the family genealogy book on that page, a family genealogy book written by a distant cousin Carlton Lee Starkweather - of whose book contains this same photo - this photo was LENT to CL Starkweather, by OUR family, in the early 1900's, for his book. Carlton Lee Starkweather, nor the publisher of his book NEVER owned the copyright to this photo. Carlton Self published the book anyway and only three hundred copies were published and provided to family members. There are now republished versions of this book and again, who ever is publishing that book owns absolutely no rights to OUR family photo.

I and I am sure many other contributors find it very disappointing, when ancestors of local history figures are willing to take the time to share stories about local history only to have such photos or material removed. Also disappointing to share family photos of local history figures only to be accused of stealing my/our own property. Very disappointing.

  • Not done - this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vajazzling, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user Angr (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. If you want to recreate this you are going to have to provide multiple independent reliable and substantial references. And this is not just a quote from Jennifer Love Hewitt. Gerald Huang (cricketer)

He has played in the Australian Test U-15s team. He has made some significance in the cricket world and thus, I think he should have a page. -123.243.11.47 (talk) 00:44, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Non-admin comment: This player is very likely not notable enough to qualify for an article in Wikipedia. The relevant guidelines are WP:NFOOTY, WP:NCRICK, WP:BIO, and WP:GNG. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 00:50, 14 December 2013 (UTC) Corrected per below. What was I thinking, I know good and well that football != cricket. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 00:58, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Not done Playing in national/international U-15 does not not meet the definition of notable for cricketers, yet ES&L 00:50, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Just like to point it out though, that he has made some significance in cricket. The first Test of the U-15s Ashes bewteen Australia and England was recorded on FOX. 123.243.11.47 (talk) 02:31, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If you believe that this person meets General notability criteria or WP:BIO and you can list a few reliable sources, independent of the player or his team/league/etc. which provide significant coverage of this person, you might have success. Otherwise, wait a bit. If he's that good, sooner or later he'll qualify under his sport's notability guidelines. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 18:29, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Done - as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored on request. I will notify user Thargor Orlando (talk), who proposed it, and who may choose to nominate it at WP:Articles for deletion, which would start a debate lasting seven days, to which you would be welcome to contribute. If the page is to be kept, it needs references that show significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources to establish Wikipedia:Notability. The article was deleted because of lack of importance, the person in question is a council alderman (councilman) and well known within the area. Other people in his positions have pages active.— Preceding unsigned comment added by LauncestonWiki (talkcontribs) 18:57, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

She has a verified twitter account with over 30,000 twitter followers.. May I ask why this page was deleted? I requested a request to not speedy delete it, but right after I sent it, it was deleted by someone. She was on the X Factor USA Season 3 and placed 12th alongside her group Sweet Suspense. -Sweetsuspense (talk) 21:10, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(deleting admin) You really shouldn't be using that user name. You say you are just a fan, but Wikipedia has a policy against group user names, particularly when the account, as yours, is used in a promotional manner.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:32, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The issue is whether the facts are a claim of importance. Persuade Bbb23 that it was, then the deletion criterion does not apply. Otherwise UND|ndp applies. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:25, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The page was not advesting Booking.com but was consider to be a seed for a comapny which consider to be the world largest hotels site in the world, the page was to provide more info. The ref used in the page was from 3rd party to provide an opportunity for the users and researcher to find info from outside the company not just through Booking site. -Khaled Attalla 16:28, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
